Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 5.5 rooms in a week? Bloody Hell. We did1 room in 6 weeks, and we don’t work. Congrats on the 3 stone loss. I think I’m somewhere about there but numbers blur and bend in my mind. I’m there according to my scale, but I weighed at the surgery this week and I was a kilo heavier. I’ve bounced from 87 to 87.7 for the last 6 weeks, getting a bit annoyed now.
I’ve had 2 small grandchildren for a sleepover. Pancakes for breakfast and a baking session. And then fell asleep at 6 , after they went. Totally exhausted. So of course I’ve woken up and eaten toast. Never mind.
Back on it tomorrow.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 13/10/2025 08:57

@Zebracat the rooms are brand new and empty which makes things much easier. I also have a paint sprayer so after masking doors and windows it is quite easy. Very messy though and I’m sure my hair looks greyer than usual with some fetching white sprinkles of paint! Still need to gloss the doors and frames but really pleased with my progress. Husband doesn’t like painting so happy to leave him with the parenting while I paint. Think i will give myself a few days off now though. Doors can wait as they aren’t on the critical path. Though I might quickly roller where the locks and handles go. I am shattered but now officially at my lightest weight for probably 15 years.

Zebracat · 13/10/2025 09:31

A paint sprayer ! Ooh quite jealous.
i need to paint the hideous fitted wardrobes in my bedroom and a paint sprayer would really help. Being lighter makes everything easier.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 13/10/2025 10:31

@Zebracat paint sprayer has been a godsend. It is very messy though, but the worst of it is because I’m painting the ceiling. If you were doing cupboard doors you could take it outside and it would be much easier to keep clean. Also- wear a good mask. I looked very strange with my shower cap and mask on.

Zebracat · 13/10/2025 11:13

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 sorry to derail, but I’ve been looking them up. Which one do you have?

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 13/10/2025 11:36

@Zebracat I have this one https://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-allpaint-pfs-5000e-1200w-electric-spray-system-230v/205KK?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22609679254&gbraid=0AAAAAD8IdPxDolAEalRJfbHnYVjG-3STF&gclid=CjwKCAjwxrLHBhA2EiwAu9EdMwrPBujurCR51WYLRdf-eR5me_XTIjJdFW_p68rHblrj9PModLXbIRoCryEQAvD_BwE

i would recommend practicing before you use it on anything important. I had to turn the paint flow down (red dial on the gun part) as I was getting runs as I wasn’t quick enough and I also needed to dilute the paint down much more than it suggested. I’ve only tried with normal wall emulsion. Whilst you can use them for solvent paints, cleaning it would be a complete faff so I’d stick to water based stuff. It works best holding the sprayer horizontal so easiest to paint walls. The sprayer is pumping air at high speed to dust sheets need to be heavy ones and even they I would weigh them down as they tend to fly all over otherwise - do not use plastic sheeting unless it is well taped down.

overall very happy with it and it has saved me loads of time but it is messy.

AnneinEdinburgh · 13/10/2025 12:04

I wonder how much weight aerobic paint spraying takes off?

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 13/10/2025 12:30

@AnneinEdinburgh 1.35kg this week! so pretty good. Although not sure how much is from calorie burn vs not eating enough as I was too busy. Supposed to be working today but I’m shattered and my home internet keeps glitching so not being the most productive.

AnneinEdinburgh · 13/10/2025 12:31

That is amazing @lifetheuniverseandeverything42 ! We all need to take up spraying!

MooBaggage · 13/10/2025 12:34

Loving the de-rail! Can I ask about whether re-painting/spraying kitchen cabinet fronts works, or whether it's better to replace them? Am looking to re-do/replace horrible dark wood colour ones to either cream or white. Budget = about 50p, so sadly can't afford a new kitchen, but can do fronts if painting never works..!

Hello everyone, such great losses you are all having. I’ve decided to stay here at 9st 12, from 15st 1lb.
I did toy with the idea of going to 9 7 but to be honest I can’t afford the Mounjaro now, and I’m finding it difficult to summon up the focus I had while on my journey down to this point.
I started to take Wegovy, mainly as an aid to maintenance, I’ve had the odd blip, mainly involving Hackney Gelato, but on the whole I’m not feeling that pull back to the dark side which was a feature of all my previous weight loss attempts.
I am so happy to be where I am now. No longer feeling like an imposter in a clothes shops I am in and out of changing rooms with armfuls of stuff, boring my friends with pics of me posing, constantly on Vinted. I’ve taken up a sport which I would never have done before but always wanted to do. All these previously forbidden pleasures!

MooBaggage · 13/10/2025 12:42

@velvetseven that is brilliant! Are you going to keep taking Wegovy or taper off? I love the feeling re: clothes shops - I'm not quite there yet, but feeling tons better just being out and about and being an 'ordinary' big person, rather than a HUGE person, if you know what I mean?

I think I've maintained this week, which I'll take - had my sons home this weekend, which involved a couple of meals out, with cocktails, obvs...! I didn't go mad, but I knew I'd need to flush out with water this week before I lose anything 😄

I did have a nice moment yesterday, (a) getting into clothes that I'd bought a couple of months ago that were too small and (b) getting rid of clothes that are now too big - so satisfying...

Am v excited because I'm off to Lanzarote in 4 weeks with my friend for a few days and can't wait to do some summer clothes try ons - I'll be around 5 1/2 stone lighter than when I went last year - bonkers...!!

GiveMeWordGames · 13/10/2025 13:26

That's going to feel amazing, @MooBaggage . What a great excuse to try on Summer stuff as well. I've just done my Winter/Summer storage switch and some shorts which I'd left in storage a couple of months into MJ now fit perfectly. Also charity bagged a load of too big things, and started to get a good idea of what I really do need to buy now. I'm annoyed because a lovely thick cotton fit and flare dress on Roman that I was coveting has now gone out of stock in 14 AND 16 thanks to my dithering. BUT my wool coat, and a couple of other Vinted things are out for delivery so I'm excited about those. Gloves are still lost out there somewhere, in the Evri locker black hole of doom

Jab day today. I'm at 13st 1. Loss has definitely slowed a bit. I've checked back and it's just taken me 9 weeks to lose a stone. I know that's normal as the weight shifts but I'm also hoping having gone up to 10 will help.

29 weeks. Early 50s, 5ft 8

CW 13st 1
GW 11-12st.

We painted the kitchen cabinets in our first flat 25 years ago. It was right when special paint to do that first appeared. Added some new Ikea handles as well and we were very happy at the time. It certainly looked a hell of a lot better than the cheap 80s-era sludge brown it covered up but we only stayed there for three years so can't vouch beyond that. 😁

velvetseven · 13/10/2025 14:18

@MooBaggage i think I will finish this pen then try going cold turkey. But I don’t know. I feel anxious about stopping completely. I suppose nearly 60 years of disordered eating casts quite a shadow!

Zebracat · 13/10/2025 14:27

Well done @velvetseven . @MooBaggage I have successfully painted kitchen cabinets. Preparation is key, take them off the cabinets, remove handles, clean thoroughly and lightly sand. Use a small gloss roller(Or a spray gun!). I love the Ronseal everywhere paint. But I would not paint them white, it somehow always looks amateurish, I would try cream or light blue, or just about anything else except grey, because I hate grey.

So my current pet hate is BBC News’ insistence on having a “lifestyle” article on the front page every day.

But I did laugh when I saw today’s! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd9kdkxy3veo

Not sure why research had to be paid for to know this though, don’t they read mumsnet?!

Kiwis and mineral water can cut constipation, says new guidance

New guidance for doctors says focusing on fruit in our diets can help with a really common complaint.

Zebracat · 13/10/2025 19:50

Well , I’m absolutely evangelical now. My life is so much better with golden kiwis in it. I do not understand how anyone can eat the skin though.🥝🥝🥝

alltablenochairs · 13/10/2025 20:50

For all the kiwi lovers amongst you, you can get kiwi cutters from the likes of Amazon and Temu. Makes eating the things much easier.

You can also get boxes of kiwis from crowdfarming although I think these are in season about November time. Usually organic fruit but much nicer than the stuff in the supermarkets.

alltablenochairs · 13/10/2025 20:54

Mega NSV incoming.

Was sorting out my wardrobe earlier and taking all the summer trousers out- because I'll freeze to death wearing linen trousers in October. I found this pair of trousers. Not sure what the size is but last summer, pre MJ they were a snug fit. By comparison the green dress I am wearing is a size 16.

I was having a bit of a crisis of confidence about how if at all MJ was working for me. I'd say this photo is conclusive evidence.....

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/10/2025 21:22

@alltablenochairs massive change in size there well done! I have a pair of my old size 22 jersey trousers up in a box in my room to save for proof of loss.

The bastards at work have today announced that one of the evening meals at my away week next week will be a ‘celebrations’ and we should dress appropriately. I have bought for professional work wear not celebratory glam, so now I have till Sunday to find something that will travel well, fit and look good and not cost the earth. All while working full time and taxi-ing child and friends to activities and events most evening, yay!

dimples76 · 13/10/2025 22:23

I ordered the M&S trousers discussed upthread and they are gorgeous but slightly on the large size. So I am going to order them in a 16 too. I also just had a size 16 dress delivered which fits. So I am feeling very positive.

Another positive for me is that my sleep has improved. Recently I have been waking a lot in the night (not out of the norm for me) but needing to wee frequently at night is. I was reading about causes of this and one of the things I read is that if you have issues with water retention then elevate your ankles in the evening. Since I have started doing this last week my sleep has improved hugely

GiveMeWordGames · 13/10/2025 22:28

That's a stonking NSV @alltablenochairs . Result! I was playing a similar game today with the size 20 jeans that prompted me to start MJ in the first place as they became ever tighter.

Roman can be quite good for reasonably priced evening wear @InfoSecInTheCity but you still have the delivery time and sizing challenge.

@dimples76 good news about the trousers! I looked earlier today and they are entirely out of the black ones in long. So frustrating. Hopefully they'll come back in stock soonish.

I love my vinted coat, and other bits. The Next size 16 blouse is too snug right now but it'll be perfect soon.

Luckily most of the supermarkets have what they call 'party wear' in at the moment. Could you find something suitable there?

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/10/2025 23:29

I’ve ordered a couple of tops from Joe Browns I’m hoping one of those will do the job, but will also be scanning the supermarkets when out and about. Boots and trousers I’m taking for day wear will need to be good enough I think, and I’ll stick a bit more makeup and jewellery on to bling it up a bit.

I tried to order some of those M&S trousers and they were out of stock, might keep an eye on them though to see if they become available again for Xmas outings,

NewbieMJ · 14/10/2025 07:58

@InfoSecInTheCity Matalan have some lovely evening wear and good discounts and sales on just now. If there is one near you, it is worth a try.
