Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

@QueenOfHiraeth, can we have your sweet potato soup recipe please?

Sorry for the bad pic, hope you can read it.
It is one of my favourite soups ever!

@NotsosunnyShropshire Pic is waiting for review!

@Emas82 I have the Halara high waist wide leg jeans which are amazing. I bought a 14 in them and they fit even though I am still firmly a 16 in M&S jeans and only a 14 in Next if I don't want to move or breathe Grin
@alltablenochairs Halara might be a good shout for you, I think mine have pockets on the back but they are very soft and fine compared to other jeans

Arglefraster · 07/10/2025 18:38

@GiveMeWordGameshonestly so surprised to learn about the cinnamon (obviously never eaten one) as I've never heard it mentioned at all & my friend's daughter is obsessed with baking with them 😂

breakfast sounds lovely! I like ginger with pears 🤩

although it's mostly just figs & satsumas on a rotation this week tbh!

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/10/2025 19:41

I need help or a hive mind or the guts to just go everywhere trouserless. Where the ever-loving-heck can I buy a pair of straight leg work trousers made of some kind of fabric that isn’t the polyester crap school trousers are made of and that has a mid height waist rather than something that grazes my nipples.

Ive had to accept I must have the worlds shortest torso because high waisted trousers just look and feel weird, everything has wide legs that make me look like my legs are about to sail away or are ‘slim’ fit which apparently just means leggings with a button fly.

It feels like straight legged, black/dark grey, mid-rise trousers shouldn’t be a big ask but they don’t exist and I’m bored bored bored of trying on trousers that look silly.

gimmemounjaro · 07/10/2025 20:24

Uniqlo have these but they might fail the polyester crap test 😂

Uniqlo does tend to feel nicer than most in terms of material tbf. The other half has a hoody I'm desperately waiting to fit into as it feels so soft and buttery 😂. He says I'm not getting it... But I'm confident haha.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/10/2025 21:28

Thank you for the suggestions, prompted me to try Next again which I exhausted a couple of months ago but they have some different ones now so I’ve order duplicates in a few pairs so I can try sizes 10 and 12 and we’ll see how they go.

Having just looked through all the various size charts again I think other than the short torso issue my main problem is my waist falls into size 12/M my hips in size 10/S so the fit on everything is just a bit off. It’s really bloody annoying!

gimmemounjaro · 07/10/2025 21:40

It’s just so nice when you find a pair that really suits your body shape isn’t it - good luck, I’m sure they’re out there somewhere 🤞

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/10/2025 22:25

Have you looked at Land's End? They do different waist heights etc. And their sale section often has bargains. And a lot of their stuff is cotton or cotton blend.

Edited

Never even considered it, will take a look now.

alltablenochairs · 08/10/2025 00:22

Shame they don't do them anymore but I loved Lands End coats for the kids. Properly warm, properly waterproof, extendable sleeves and no matter what the kids did to them they still looked like new. Lands End customer service is absolutely fabulous as well @InfoSecInTheCity. Also in relation to your sizing queries and this might sound batshit but have you tried men's jeans? My teen wears them because a size 8 waist and a 38 inch leg just ain't happening in ladies jeans. She says they fit better as well and have proper pockets.

GiveMeWordGames · 08/10/2025 07:55

Men's jeans doesn't sound batshit to me. But then I was a tall (for the 80s) teenager who was extremely happy when the "women wearing men's 501s" fashion came along. Suddenly I could choose my leg length and not be stuck with standard issue 29" which was all you got back then. It was a revelation. I'm nowhere near 38" though!!

I am also on board with the 'plastic school trousers' dislike. It's been like this for a while now, bit like the coats. Natural fibres are harder and harder to find in mid range clothing stores. I tried Woolovers for a while but their quality and styling isn't great for the prices.

I've never considered Lands End, so will check them out.

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/10/2025 08:32

I’m on board with men’s clothes. Have size 9 feet and an 11 yo daughter with size 8 feet so men’s shoes have always been the easier option. Always bought boys/men’s joggers and hoodies too because they’re made of actual material that’s thick and warm not wishes, dreams and sequins.

HumBumBum · 08/10/2025 11:05

You geniuses, I’ve been looking for snuggly joggers, hadn’t considered men’s (hate the plastic, and just realised the M&S order I made will be totally unnatural)

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/10/2025 13:53

My friend has always been about 1 size smaller than me so, when we both started MJ, I benefitted from a few cast-offs one of which was a pair of Land's End Jeans and they were very nice.

I have to say I'm a bit of an oddity as I'm not bothered by the natural fabrics thing, I'd sooner have a comfy, snuggly, easy to wash (not to mention cheaper!) synthetic than some of the cotton or natural things I've had in the past. There's pros and cons with all things and I have skin like a rhinoceros which is never irritated by anything.

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/10/2025 16:48

@QueenOfHiraeth my hatred of the school trouser material is the sound and feel. I have a bit of a sensory issue with some things and the sound of polyester rubbing on polyester really annoys me, plus it feels too cold and shiny on my skin. I typically live in jersey fabrics because I also hate the feel of rigid waistbands digging in, but that one I will need to just live with a bit because I need to look ‘proper work smart’ for a work event in a couple of weeks. I need stuff that fits and looks good because we’ll be getting new professional head shots done (bleurgh) and that will travel well because the meetings are in the US so it will be in a suitcase for a while, and that can be dressed up from day to night to avoid having to pack too heavy.

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/10/2025 17:21

@InfoSecInTheCity I'm not keen on the school trouser material and also live in jersey but I'm retired so I can Grin
My friend has these trousers in every colour and swears by them as the waist is adjustable. They are classed as a wide leg but are not the trendy hugely wide ones and are a lovely heavyish yet soft fabric.

Was it you mentioned a work campus in Europe recently. If it was, and with the proviso that I'm just being nosey so feel free to ignore if you don't want to say but do you work for a big 4 company?

GiveMeWordGames · 08/10/2025 18:01

@QueenOfHiraeth it was me with the work campus in France. I'm actually freelance but in terms of that particular place and job, yes, we are talking Big 4. 😁

I like the look of those M&S trousers and they'll be on my list to try in my next size-down buying surge.

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/10/2025 18:04

@QueenOfHiraeth Not big4 but we’re Global and one of the biggest education orgs in the US so pretty high profile company with presence in pretty much every country in the world in some form or other. I head up the InfoSec Governance, Risk & Compliance dept which is full of fun adventures 😂

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/10/2025 20:10

Thanks @GiveMeWordGames and @InfoSecInTheCity I am incredibly nosey about other people's jobs now I am retired and don't have my own to focus on (although mine was NHS so didn't have all the corporate stuff to deal with)
I'm toying with trying those trousers too, just not sure if I ever have a need for smart trousers these days

gimmemounjaro · 08/10/2025 20:16

Those M+S trousers do look lovely 👀

My friend looks stunning in them and she now has them in black, navy, cream and was debating another. She said the adjustable waist is what makes the difference

MooBaggage · 09/10/2025 06:01

2lbs off this week, which takes me into the lesser spotted 14 stones something...! 😮

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
9.10.25 CW 14st 13lbs BMI 31.7

Am a bit in shock if I'm honest - I went up to 10mg last week, as it was all feeling a bit of a struggle and I'm back to losing 1-2lbs a week, which hasn't happened for a while. I can also really see such a marked difference in my shape now - almost scary and I haven't got much lower than this weight as an adult...

My lowest recorded BMI in my NHS records is 31.1, so a bit to go before I'm under that - but not much.

Getting into the 14 stones mark has always been such a struggle and only ever briefly visited - I think the battle now will be psychological - to convince myself I can do it - I'm not just visiting this weight range and it's OK to keep going...

I'm also tapering off my antidepressants and that's harder going than I thought it was going to be. I'm on half the dose I was, but am debating whether I should go back up, as lots of old very painful feelings and thoughts are back with me. Usually I would try to eat them away, obvs - but not an option now!

So, will try and be positive about being back in the 14s and not get too freaked out...
