Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

No slaps! Bet you wouldn't be unkind to a friend who had a wee slip into a bag of sweets so please treat yourself with the same kindness 💐

In the same situation I nearly always find I am underslept (or haven't drunk enough water) & if it's not that then some more sugar has slipped into my diet.

Did you take the time to enjoy them (I couldn't enjoy liquorice with a gun to my head 🤣)? Did you need/feel deserving of a treat?

One bag of sweets isn't going to undo all the fantastic work you've done, move on to tomorrow with kindness & a solid plan!

Thank you and, yes, I did enjoy them although I was conscious even when I was eating them that I didn't need to keep going!
I think you are right, I'm having a funny phase of not eating and drinking enough, maybe the change in weather, I don't know. I have yoghurt and fruit or a protein shake for breakfast and we always have a healthy home cooked evening meal but I really struggle with lunch which is throwing me off-kilter. I don't really like salad although I can eat it in warm weather but my tummy turns at the thought of it at the moment. I never fancy leftovers or a "proper meal" but snacky stuff is not enough and often leaves me unsatisfied later.
I might try to try to work out a meal plan for the week and see if I can get a bit back to basics

MooBaggage · 06/10/2025 09:37

I'm back down to earth with a bump after a lovely long weekend away (in Cumbria, in the middle of Storm Amy!) and am very relieved and pleased that despite doing my best damage to a couple of bottles of prosecco, my weight has stayed the same 😁 so I'm hopeful for some kind of loss this coming week - fingers crossed..!

@NewbieMJ that is such a lovely post - congratulations on hitting 6 stone loss!! Amazing loss and I know what you mean about the complete headfuckery of such a large number being your reality - I feel the same having hit 5 stone loss - doesn't seem real...

@QueenOfHiraeth No slaps from me - as well as prosecco, I had a few sugar free sweets this weekend - the first sweets I've had since Jan 2025! I'm not sure if sugar free sweets are 'OK' but they were lovely. I put some bags in my Amazon basket last night but am going to take them out again - I fear it would be the start of a slippery slope, so best not to buy them at all...

Hope everyone has a great losing week - onwards and downwards 😍

No slaps @QueenOfHiraeth It happens, try and focus on increasing protein especially at lunch (even if it’s just a protein bar) to keep you going.

I know what you mean @MooBaggage about the slippery slope. Over the summer I started allowing myself a Club biscuit every now and then as they’re only 100ish calories but they started to become a habit and then a gateway to more sugary snacks - which normally on MJ I don’t crave. Better not to go there (for me at least)!

AnneinEdinburgh · 06/10/2025 10:13

Sugar free ones are a very good constipation remedy though ;-)

dimples76 · 06/10/2025 10:21

I have now lost 30kg (129 down to 99). My BMI is now 35.1 - so hopefully I will be celebrating getting under 35 and losing 5 stones soon too.

Feeling a bit apprehensive as I am on my last mounjaro pen. I can't afford the new prices (couldn't really afford the original ones either!). So I am going to move to Wegovy. Planning to start on the lowest dose as I have had quite a few bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea from mounjaro. Bit worried about how well it will work/what side effects I might experience. Will just have to see.

@QueenOfHiraeth don't be so tough on yourself! Hope that you are not experiencing any gastric symptoms.

@MooBaggage on the sugar free sweets front if my son has more than a couple it causes diarrhoea, so that might help put you off!

Congratulations on all the losses

GiveMeWordGames · 06/10/2025 11:04

@NewbieMJ congratulations on your amazing loss, well done. @QueenOfHiraeth go easy on yourself (although I am also in the liquorice hating camp. 😂) @MooBaggage keeping my fingers crossed for an incoming loss for you and glad Cumbria didn't do any damage.

I'm stuck at 13st 3 this Monday. Obviously Friday night didn't help and I'm noticing that on the very odd occasions when I do drink more than a couple of glasses it messes with my satiety and hunger for the next few days - not just the day after - and I have to really watch that I don't reach for sugary things and snack more. I also suspect I'm at a MASSIVE set point because I think I last weighed this much about 20 years ago. I'd just joined a gym again, because I knew I was putting on weight. I remember being shocked, when I used the scales there, that I weighed over 13st, and desperately trying to get myself below it. That was pretty much the last time I ever regularly weighed myself until now.

For a tiny treat I'm a fan of a Biscoff, or Aldi's dupe for them. They're only 37cals and not horribly sweet, but somehow quite filling. And I love cinnamon.

gimmemounjaro · 06/10/2025 11:06

@QueenOfHiraeth Don’t worry, we have all been there. Your body will always do weird things - I think it can be helpful to kind of step outside it a bit and observe it doing its thing - it’s just biochemistry and likely some odd environmental factor(s) catching you in a moment. It is definitely not:

a personal failing

indicative of whether you will achieve your goals

anything to worry about

So no blame or shame, it’s gone now, time to make the next good decision. We have to find a way to be ok with these ‘lapses’ because they are normal and inevitable. Chin up and have a good day 💪

gimmemounjaro · 06/10/2025 11:10

I love this btw, for getting past a hiccup

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/10/2025 12:39

Thanks all, the liquorice has given me a bit of a clear-out but not turned me inside out as retribution Grin
I'm going to go now and make myself that viral high protein tomato soup that TikTok is raving about for my lunch and will let you know how that goes.
It's quite a good day to start a "reset" as I did some cooking yesterday so have good food on hand and DH is out tonight so I can just do my own thing

@alltablenochairs absolutely. I was looking at some jeans on Vinted the other day (Levi’s, in fact, further to previous posts!) that I thought might be my size. The seller had posted a photo of herself wearing the jeans and my first instinct was to dismiss them as an option, because no way could I be as slim as her…except, I am. It’s a headfuck, isn’t it?

Its been a lifelong secret dream to get back into some Levis jeans - they do seem to be for the very thin though.

I got a pair from Vinted - the "Curve" rage size L/12 on Vinted - way too small for me, thought I might fit a 14 if it exists. My sz 14 jeans in other brands are getting a bit loose. The legs are too skinny for my daughters who were horrified even suggesting they should try them on.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I quite like Sainsburys jeans if you have one close to you. Have fun at Disneyland! Don't forget the foot soak and/or peppermint foot rub - great in the evening. for tired feet.

gimmemounjaro · 06/10/2025 13:16

@RobinEllacotStrike might be worth trying different shapes of Levi’s - I have some 550s on Vinted in a 12L that are generous, they’re 31-32ins waist. But does depend on what shapes you like and what suits you ofc.

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/10/2025 16:39

Asda do really good jeans too, their shaper jeans won one of the "best of" survey thingies.

My biggest gripe with all the supermarkets is that all of them, near here, closed their changing rooms over Covid but have never reopened them so I have to buy stuff, bring things home to try on then go back and stand in the stupidly long customer service queue to return them only to find that the smaller or bigger size that I, unexpectedly, need is now out of stock! Not to mention that we aren't very well-provided for here so it's anywhere between 5 and 20 miles one way depending on which supermarket I want.

I made the viral tomato soup for lunch and it was edible but I'm not totally smitten. The recipe is: 3 red peppers, garlic and 1 red onion roasted, 1 tub cottage cheese blitzed smooth, 1 tin tomatoes. Add all to a blender and blitz, loosen with milk if needed. Warm gently and season before serving.
It tastes ok but I found it started to try to separate on heating and was quite a claggy texture
Its not as nice as my sweet potato and red pepper soup but it is around half the calories and double the protein (147 and 11.4)

I’ve started wearing dresses to the supermarket and just pulling the trousers on there and then to see if they fit. I got fed up of buying 5 pairs, taking 5 pairs back waiting for the refund to process and repeating the process all over again. I must have tried on dozens of the bastard things and my legs are either too long or too short, my bum too big or to small, my torso too …..

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/10/2025 17:12

@InfoSecInTheCity I have thought of that but not dared as yet!
I always go to Costco in leggings and try on over them but there's fewer people so you can always find a quiet corner

I make sure I stay decent but I just don’t have the patience and honestly it pisses me off that there are perfectly good changing rooms but someone’s locked the door on them and cut staff so they can’t be opened. As a result I get this stubborn need to be a pain the ass on purpose. I may have a slight personality disorder that appears to be getting worse as I get older and less able or willing to give a fuck.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 06/10/2025 18:22

Sainsbury's jeans are excellent! Size down - in my experience they come up almost a full size big.

Arglefraster · 06/10/2025 23:56

@QueenOfHiraethI hope today hs been a better day? I'm glad you enjoyed them!
I'm know what you mean about the change in weather & food - I got very sulky last week because I wanted to eat chicken with salad but it was just too cold to enjoy. Happily I've reset into my cold weather food now so I'm gorging on soup (in the middle of summer I start wishing it was cold enough to eat soup) and aaaaall the broccoli I won't share the tenderstem

Great loss @dimples76that under 35 bmi is so tantalisingly close! I hope Wegovy works well for you, it certainly seems to work fantastically for lots of people & pre MJ it was the best of the best!

whaaat is biscoff cinnamon @GiveMeWordGames?!!! I always thought they were a caramelised brown sugar type thing. I love cinnamon, one of my DDs starts every day with a sliced apple microwaved with cinnamon

@InfoSecInTheCitymy eldest does either long skirt or leggings & vest for her epic charity shop hunts , it's a very practical solution to the total lack of changing rooms

alltablenochairs · 07/10/2025 00:07

Check out you bunch of lovely losers. Some absolutely epic and inspiring losses going on.

Question for the jeans buyers- has anyone seen any jeans without back pockets or studs? Because I spend most of the day on my arse and I have a cushion moulded to the shape of said arse I realised very early on that jeans were super uncomfortable so havent worn them for years. However palazzo style jeans are very much the thing at the moment so half tempted if I can find the right pair.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 07/10/2025 05:05

SW 260lbs in April 25
CW 217.1lbs
Loss 42.9lbs

So that officially brings me under 100kgs at 98.5kgs and a loss of 3 stones and half a pound.

Also means my BMI has dropped from 41 to 35.

It’ll probably go up again slightly but I definitely seem to have finally broken my massive stall.

From a size 24 to 20’s being a little too large on me now and wearing size 18 jeans.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 07/10/2025 05:14

@QueenOfHiraeth, can we have your sweet potato soup recipe please?

Emas82 · 07/10/2025 07:54

Just jumping in the jeans discussion. Has anyone else tried Halara? Facebook ads got me, and they are the comfiest thing ever! Very stretchy and fairly thin so nothing like your traditional Levi's or anything. Also the sizes are very flattering, a L is like an 18-20 (proper sizing imo 🤣)
Lots of people selling new on vinted so can usually get them for around half the price.
They do all sorts of styles, smart trousers, leggings etc.

No back pockets on these though they aren’t technically jeans

@Arglefraster you're right that they're basically a caramelised biscuit but there's cinnamon in there too. It's why I've always liked them, even before they became a bit ubiquitous recently and started popping up in everything. I used to think of them as hairdresser biscuits.😁

@Emas82 I keep hearing about Halara jeans so I think I'm going to have to try them at some point.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 07/10/2025 09:52

Getting excited, I’m sneaking up to the 3stone mark. That will also take me to 12.5st. I don’t think it will be long as I’m burning loads of calories with decorating every night. Trying to sneak in painting when the plaster is dry but before the second fix (just so I don’t have to do lots of cutting in and masking). I’m knackered but still loads to do but definitely in loads of calorie deficit.

GiveMeWordGames · 07/10/2025 10:17

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 excellent progress! And decorating the house and shedding weight while doing it is double productivity really.

Getting under 13st is my next mini-goal. After my whinge yesterday, the scales showed me 13st 2 this morning. This is when I'm glad I decided to do daily weighing.

Also, @Arglefraster your DD has inspired me to upgrade my breakfast this morning. We bought some lovely pears recently, incredibly fragrant, and I realised they would be even more lovely with cinnamon on them in my yoghurt and granola bowl.
