Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

At 5ft 2in wide leg jeans make me look dreadful. I stick to straight leg. I got some barrel leg jeans and they looked peculiar. Those Eva ones might do the trick. Good spot @GiveMeWordGames

AnneinEdinburgh · 04/10/2025 09:35

I love the Next carpenter ones, not very wide and really flattering. Tu wide legs also good.

alwaysscared · 04/10/2025 09:44

Morning, how are we all? Someone a few threads back put up a conversion chart for drawing out mg from different pens, I saved it but can’t find it now. I’m wanting to draw out 5.5mg or 6mg of a 5mg pen and I don’t know how much to draw. I’ve injected 5mg this week and it doesn’t feel like I’ve had enough, so want to increase a bit next week. Can anyone do the maths for me?

gimmemounjaro · 04/10/2025 09:52

5.5mg from a 5mg pen would be the normal 60 clicks for 5mg and then 6 more clicks for the additional 0.5mg. I don’t think you can do 66 clicks in one go.

6mg from a 5mg pen is normal 60 clicks for 5mg and then 12 more clicks to add another 1mg.

gimmemounjaro · 04/10/2025 09:54

In hope that makes sense -

5.5mg = 66 clicks
6mg = 72 clicks

But I think you would have to do two separate injections as then pen won’t allow for more than 60 clicks.

GiveMeWordGames · 04/10/2025 10:09

Yes, as @gimmemounjaro says you can't use clicks to take more than the pen dose in one go. You'd need to inject twice.

If you use a syringe/needle to extract like people do for the golden dose, it would be 0.72ml you would need.

(Full dose 5mg = 0.6 mls, therefore 1mg = 0.6/5 which is 0.12mls, then multiply the 0.12 x 6 which makes 0.72ml. )

HumBumBum · 04/10/2025 11:20

@Reginaphalangeeeeeyes Vinted can take ages to arrive and Halara is even longer (although I have some v nice fleecy wide legs from there).
Youve reminded me I got some drunken male attention on the tube the other night, I was told my jeans were fabulous and he wanted to know what kind they were. They were M&S wide legs crops - and they are fabulous although seem to have gone off the website with only full length available https://www.marksandspencer.com/high-waisted-wide-leg-jeans/p/clp60504942?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

SW - 21st 05lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 12st 05lbs BMI 25.9
TW - 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 (healthy!)

Total loss - 9st 0lbs (126lbs), 42.1%

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)

Losses (25H2) - 1,2,1,3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1,1,2 (avg 1.2)

Only 7lb more to go to reach that healthy BMI and maintenance!

Fantastic news @MooBaggage that you are seeing such positive improvements, or even reversal 🤯 of your OSA. So pleased for you your hard work is paying off! 😀 It is things like that we are all on this journey for, improving our health and lives, or preventing future health issues, which is so much more important than the numbers on the scales each week or dress sizes - although they are an extra bonus!

I am starting to get a little water retention in my lower legs again for the last couple of weeks, not too bad, but you know that feeling of tightness/numbness and socks leaving indents, I haven't had that since last year when they were constantly hot and swollen and MJ resolved with weeks. No idea if it is because I have reduced MJ dose ever so slightly, more weight loss means HRT needs reviewed, loose skin on thighs/above knees causing issues, or previously high blood pressure now sitting at 94/61 unmedicated..... Will need to keep an eye on it.

For jeans, I am wearing Next Lift Shape Slim fit jeans (blue for casual, black for work), just because I could squeeze into them in a size 22L (had to leave the button undone some days 😳) and I have gone down the sizes to a 14L now. I should probably expand my horizons in to different shapes, will do this when I hit target. Do people still buy / wear Levis or did they go out with the 80s? 🤣 I would love to wear legging out (with tunic tops/knitted dresses) but the loose skin above my knees is not a good look)

See you are still a loser 😉 @gimmemounjaro , that is something that has crossed my mind, how do I stop losing? Sounds obvious, up the calories, but I am most of the time quite happy with what I am eating now! I haven't tracked calories for over a year now, do you track calories to change being in deficit to maintenance calories or are you just judging it?

gimmemounjaro · 04/10/2025 14:30

@WeAllHaveWings Levi’s are still a thing - lots of different shapes on Vinted!

I don’t track calories - only because I am trying to set myself up for the rest of my life and I don’t want to have to count calories for ever. So just trying to eat what I fancy when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full. I do weigh every morning as I’m not great at knowing where I am, and I want to be able to stay on top of any gain before it’s big enough to make me panic. So I knew I was losing this week and had a big bowl of pasta last night, first time in ages, but still lost a bit more.

Like you I’m happy with what I’m eating and I still feel like I’m teetering at the top of a slippery slope with 6st of regain at the bottom of it, so don’t want to rely on extra snacks and unhealthy stuff. I expect it will sort itself out as I reduce the dose. Or knowing the MJ rollercoaster as I do, I’ll probably be up 5lbs tomorrow 😂

alltablenochairs · 04/10/2025 16:13

Despite feeling like the first cousin to a heifer this morning (and complaining to my bestie about it) I have actually still managed to lose more weight. I'm still in slight disbelief that this is actually going to work though. I've been overweight at a minimum, usually obese if not more for most of my late teens, 20's and more. Does anyone else feel like this?

Still enjoying chomping my way through some epic (and organic) Spanish pomegranates. Funny story time- I speak conversational French for work (about A2/B1 ish level) to a client of mine. The French for pomegranate and grenade are very similar so I found myself telling the client I had a box of bombs in my living room and did they want some. Thankfully the client saw the funny side.

My teen daughter tells me skinny anything trousers wise is out at the moment. She's suitably horrified by a pair of trousers of mine that are super wide leg and essentially look like a skirt. I dont wear jeans now but the fashion when I was a teenager was super wide leg, trainer covering, ground skimming jeans that always got soggy when it rained. I went to a v.traditional school where 'home economics' aka sewing and cooking was on the curriculum. So we all brought our jeans in to add patches to the legs to make them even wider in sewing class. Mine were blue denim with some flowery material. Said teacher was not impressed.

I also dont track calories. For me it would (and has previously) led to me spiralling and ending up in some quite dark places. Although things are reasonably stable for me at the moment mental health wise there have been times when it really hasn't. So I'm very aware of and try to do things that dont mean I end up in a difficult situation again.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 04/10/2025 16:30

@alltablenochairs absolutely. I was looking at some jeans on Vinted the other day (Levi’s, in fact, further to previous posts!) that I thought might be my size. The seller had posted a photo of herself wearing the jeans and my first instinct was to dismiss them as an option, because no way could I be as slim as her…except, I am. It’s a headfuck, isn’t it?

gimmemounjaro · 04/10/2025 16:45

Agree - I still doubt it’s going to work when it has actually already worked 🤦‍♀️
It feels like the weight loss must be temporary and that I am a fat person pretending to be thin. Hopefully this will settle for all of us over time. I have 40+ years of losing and regaining weight, I guess it’s inevitable that it’s hard to believe that this time will be different. I think it will help as we widen our circle of people who never knew us fat iykwim, just through naturally meeting new people.

Arglefraster · 04/10/2025 17:11

Ooh cats 😍
Trying as ever to catch up & I'm in awe of the huge losses, loving the NSVs chairs to be adjusted, vinted down sizing etc

i hope the posters who were in a funk are finding their way back out? 💐 I've lost a third of my hair again & hid from the world for a bit but I'm back. Fairly pissed off (especially at theNHS's complete lack of interest/care) but not miserable anymore. I'm self medicating with long autumn walks 😃
although I must say this morning's was a bit more Autumnal than ideal as the storm doesn't seem to have blown itself out yet... I had to clamber under fallen trees & walked extra quickly through the creaking old woods 😂

Grateful for the jeans posts - my rule for trousers is I have to be able to do a full "ass to grass" squat but my legs are getting lumpier as they get smaller so stretchy trousers aren't as flattering as they might be😬

OnwardsDownwards · 04/10/2025 17:25

I have managed to lose 3lbs this week! Had been struggling for a few weeks. I’ve gone up early from 10 to 12.5, I’m probably going to try the same dose tomorrow, then probably 15 the week after.

Have been a bit frustrated about slow loss, but this is my graph for this year, looks very satisfying like this! I started MJ in April, had been working on weight loss since Jan.

Arglefraster · 04/10/2025 17:42

That "slow loss" has added up beautifully @OnwardsDownwards!! Fantastic work.

(Will you have had 4 weeks on 12.5 before you up to 15? If not I would be cautious as it does build up in your system over the 4 weeks.)

For some reason I had it in my head that the doses go from 10 to 15, but actually they don’t do they. You’re quite right, I’ll stick with 12.5 for a bit!

NewbieMJ · 05/10/2025 13:15

Everyone is doing remarkably well. Huge congratulations to you all.

I remember joining this thread way back and being so inspired by the losses and finding it difficult to comprehend if I dared to dream that I could ever get out of the obesity range that I was so deeply in. It was several stones away just to get into the "overweight" category and it felt completely out of reach.

Well, here I am today, 13 months on, and I am 6 stone down. It feels amazing and I am in tears to be here. I still have 2 stone to go, but it feels achievable.

I cannot thank @VelociraptorsVelociRapping enough for starting this thread - it has been my sole companion throughout this journey, as no one IRL knows about MJ, and while my family are championing my weight loss with me, it is you lovely lot that have been my true support. So much inspired advice, knowledge and, above all, understanding. Thank you so much @MooBaggage for keeping this thread going in all it's vibrancy.

SW (2nd Sept 24): 18 stone 11
CW: 12 stone 11

Loss: 6 stone. 84 pounds
BMI: 43.6 to 29.5

While that pesky pound felt like forever to get off, my body has transformed rather dramatically in these last few weeks. I am suddenly a size 14, when just weeks ago I was an 18. It's bonkers!

I still don't get suppression, (or, thankfully, side effects) but clearly MJ is working it's magic nonetheless and my way of eating is truly entrenched now. Still strict keto, but decent sized meals, mainly eating twice a day. I enjoy the thrill of nutritionally dense food nourishing my body and am more in touch with hunger and fullness/satiety.

I have had a bit of (ongoing) family trauma, so not been in the pool so much, but looking to get back into it in time. My newish job is like a work out and I am fairly active and "on the go" without much else in the way of disciplined activity. My plan is still to get into weights, and I really must. Only loose skin is underarms and a tiny bit on thighs but they are still a million times better than what they were originally. I think being a relatively slow loser has helped the loose skin situation? Not sure (I am 54, nearly 55). My main area to lose is definitely my belly and bum, so some work to do without a doubt.

Thank you once again lovely losers. I check-in most days to keep myself up to date. Congratulations everyone who has reached the golden gate of maintenance and please keep us informed about how you are doing as it is really beneficial to us to learn how it is done when (not if) we all get there.

Amarajean · 05/10/2025 18:46

@NewbieMJ what a fantastic loss well done you!!
I'm in somewhat of a rut and don't seem to be losing anything,or least not the last 4 weeks anyway.

I'm going back to the gym this week so I'm hoping that helps.
Well done @MooBaggage on getting your sleep under control, what a milestone for you.
Also a massive well done to all you losers and for the nsvs.

@NewbieMJ well done you!! Inspiring to hear your progress. You're SW is similar to mine (18st 12.5) so it's amazing to hear to progress you've made in the last year or so. I'm 4 months in and have lose 35lbs (2.5st) and feel like I've been a steady/slow loser. I can't comprehend where I could be in a years time.

I've had a bit of a stall this week. I imagine it's due to coming back from my jaunts to Europe of the last few weeks and being a little out of routine. I have a weekend away next weekend, then New York and Austria over the next 2 weeks. Going to work on what I can control in the meantime. Main thing is, the 2lbs I gained I've lost again, and I've been able to enjoy my time without feeling too restricted.

Just need to keep pushing forward and trust the process!

Could someone just pop round and give me a slap please! I don't know what is going on, maybe it's the weather or maybe just a blip.
For the last week I've had some really strong urges to eat on and off. It's not really food noise as it's not a conscious thought or a specific craving but just a weird urge and I've eaten a full bag of liquorice allsorts that I'd bought for a friend. I'm now feeling really full and, almost, hoping for tummy repercussions tomorrow as some sort of penance. I haven't done anything like this for so long that I'm out of practice at feeling guilty!

Wow @NewbieMJ6stone! congratulations! 3/4 of the way
Sorry for the ongoing family trauma I hope things find a more even keel soon 💐

I've been in a similar place of being frustrated with the scale but realising that my "small" clothes are now baggy, it's so weird how size change seems to happen when the scale isn't moving & v.v.

No slaps! Bet you wouldn't be unkind to a friend who had a wee slip into a bag of sweets so please treat yourself with the same kindness 💐

In the same situation I nearly always find I am underslept (or haven't drunk enough water) & if it's not that then some more sugar has slipped into my diet.

Did you take the time to enjoy them (I couldn't enjoy liquorice with a gun to my head 🤣)? Did you need/feel deserving of a treat?

One bag of sweets isn't going to undo all the fantastic work you've done, move on to tomorrow with kindness & a solid plan!

Well after a few days of losing without meaning to and ending up at the bottom of the maintenance zone I have set for myself, I am back to the middle, up 3.6lbs in 2 days 😅

This is after visiting DD at uni yesterday, so several hours in the car and three meals from that centre of gastronomic excellence, Reading Services.

Pleased with that but also of course now paranoid that even though eating that way was quite deliberate and I wanted to go up a bit, it’s the beginning of a 6st+ regain and I’m going to be fat again 🤦‍♀️

Hard work innit, being on permanent alert. Still so much better than life before though! Still feeling good. And hopefully maintenance will get easier as I learn to trust myself and become as relaxed about the up part of a fluctuation as I am about the down part.
