Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Another one here getting more side effects / more impact from the lower doses now I have lost weight. Previously could handle 10-15mg now 5mg feels too much.

I wonder if it might be due to better insulin sensitivity? not sure. I'm looking at the pen not wanting to take it but it is the day for it. Thinking I might try reducing it further.

At least it might make the pen last longer I suppose

@MooBaggage that is amazing news about the sleep apnoea - I have a couple of family members on CPAP and they both absolutely detest it, what a brilliant change to your life!

MooBaggage · 03/10/2025 11:19

@Orangesandlemons77 yes I was going to ask for another sleep study early next year when my BMI gets to under 30, but the machine crack has fast forwarded me attempting to ditch it! I've been really nervous about letting go of it - clearly would rather not cark it - but having done lots of reading on OSA and weight loss and having the data from my watch and dp, I think it's all good..!

Once my BMI is 29 point something I think I'll still contact the sleep service though - see if I can be monitored overnight to confirm..!

Good luck! They have decided to send me for another sleep study thinking I might have something called 'central sleep apnoea' I am hoping all will be Ok aided by the weight loss / mounjaro.

NSV alert - I had an echocardiogram today and the woman doing the scan apologised for catching my ribs, and then said it was unusual these days to be scanning someone with ribs she could catch, because everyone is so big. And then we had a conversation about weight and diets and injections, just two normal weight people discussing the subject. It felt quite weird, but I’m logging it as an NSV. Luckily she was very nice and not judgey in any way, hopeful that the new treatments could change a lot of lives. I did feel a bit of a fraud not admitting that mine was one of those lives, like I was only pretending to be a normal weight person. For some reason I felt like I should declare - I know I look normal but I’m an imposter! I’m actually a fat person! - but I managed to keep my trap shut 😅

Is anyone else buying the same clothes in a smaller size on Vinted or just me? Done it with three of my favourite dresses so far. Need to replace another one and have replaced two pairs of jeans in the same style but smaller sizes.

alltablenochairs · 03/10/2025 22:11

Loving that NSV @gimmemounjaro. There's a lot of negative judgement around regarding MJ so to have a genuine discussion with someone who isnt judging you sounds like a bonus.

Fingers crossed @MooBaggage that the sleep study goes in your favour and you can get rid of the CPAP machine.

Its a bit fresh here at the moment but hopefully the worst of the storm is overnight when I'm in bed. As long as this storm doesnt blow my fence down or knock the ridge tiles on the roof off again then I am all good.

Me! Done it already with my favourite coat (and sold the bigger one) and have saved searches to catch some much-loved trousers and a jumpsuit!

One was a Xmas party dress that I bought a couple of months ago. A size 20 instead of the 24 I was last Xmas. I just bought it in an 18 as the 20 is now a little too big already.

alltablenochairs · 03/10/2025 22:20

Have already brought some faves in smaller sizes on Vinted. And have far too many saved searches as well- most of it clothes for DS but some stuff for me. I'm in a clothes size I havent worn for the best part of 20 years if not more as I definitely remember being a size 16 at the age of 16. I'm now thinking about what size will I eventually ended up at is and when I get to a weight I am happy with.

Meanwhile, my cat thoroughly disapproves of the dodgy weather outside. She also thoroughly disapproved of the fact I had some knitting as well. Trying to talk to her about who's in charge and who decides what happens in this house was a pointless task. The heated blanket though gets her seal of approval.

Yes - only today I sold a pair of jeans and bought the exact same pair in the next size down.

Ha cute @alltablenochairs

I have one with a notch in her ear too. She takes no prisoners.

She doesn't take any prisoners either. If shes sleeping on the armchair you want to be on then shove her off and youll either get hissed at or end up with a whack. Her favourite perch at thr moment though seems to be my chair......

OnwardsDownwards · 03/10/2025 22:42

@NotsosunnyShropshire yes I’ve just bought a couple of T-shirts in a smaller size. Takes me too long to find clothes I like!

@MooBaggage what an excellent NSV! I would love to be rid of my CPAP.

AnneinEdinburgh · 04/10/2025 07:18

Mine refuses to sit anywhere except on me sigh. Hr used to spread his favours to my son but no.longer even with him having the heated throw.

HumBumBum · 04/10/2025 07:47

Congrats @MooBaggagethats an amazing victory overcoming the Sleep Apnea, we‘re all becoming much healthier happy people!

Absolutely @NotsosunnyShropshire I thought that was what Vinted was for! I always let people know that I’m selling because of weightloss too as then they know they’re getting something in really good condition (I just got burned by a jumper that was super-cheap, but was so well-worn it’s gone in the charity bag). I’ve found quite a lot of my old style I don’t like to wear anymore, even in smaller sizes - Tunics and long cardigans, maybe I’ll go back to them when I’m super-small, but right now they make me feel lumpy.

GiveMeWordGames · 04/10/2025 08:21

I do love all these cosy, entitled cats. 🥰

@MooBaggage that is excellent news about the apnoea and CPAP. Such a massive health improvement.

I've finally taken the plunge with Vinted and bought one of the wool coats I found. It should be on its way soon. I hadn't actually thought of looking for smaller versions of things I have that I love!

Jab day but we had our neighbours round for few drinks and a fair bit of food last night so I'm wary of doing my daily weigh. 😂 Currently still in bed dodging the issue. Anyway it's my first use of a 10mg pen today but I think I'm going to do a split dose over the next 9 days to get my jab day back to Monday. I'll aim for just over 8mg today, 50 clicks. I did something similar when I started 7.5 and it worked well.

gimmemounjaro · 04/10/2025 08:30

Weigh day for me today after 8 weeks of maintenance:

SW: 241.2 lbs / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 151.6 lbs / 10st 12 / BMI 22.4
GW: remain in the 150s

Lost 2.5lb this week which is unexpected and a bit peculiar 🤦‍♀️
Probably just whatever the debit equivalent of water weight is.

I am visiting DD at uni tomorrow so that will no doubt involve some hearty choices which will probably get me back on track to stay in the 150s. I will reduce the dose next week too. Currently on 6.7mg and hoping to get down to 0 one day, or close to it.

Happy weekends, everyone 💪

Reginaphalangeeeee · 04/10/2025 08:37

Looking for some pearls of advice clothing wise.
I am off to Disney next week.
my clothes size not changed much since summer (solid 18 but ofcourse different places are different).

There will be a lot of walking and my size 18 jeans now a bit baggy and drag. This modern style no good for wearing trainers or if it’s raining. My teen daughter tells me skinny jeans are ‘out’ and mine just don’t flatter now anyway as saggy on the bum and my tummy looks like a bum of the front sadly as the seams on Jeggings type trouser now dent it so it looks more bum like. Help 😩.
I don’t want to be stressing about what to wear and just want to enjoy the experience and march around all day in trainers.
Time has escaped me so unlike Vinted could help now.
I need some inspiration for some sort of reasonable priced jeans and also a coat that keeps the MJ chills away and can fit into a small bag if needed. Not taking much luggage.

Anyone point me in a good place or suitable style? I like some of the Jeans on Halara though not tried, they seem expensive and long delivery times.

GiveMeWordGames · 04/10/2025 08:47

@Reginaphalangeeeee I bought these bootcuts from M&S recently in a size 18. Quite structured, thick denim so good for obscuring bumps and you can pick your length to avoid floor drag in the rain.

I'm annoyed because I really like them and I'm sliding towards 16 now. I actually debated sticking them in the tumble dryer but that would mess up the length.

Hi all
Sw 125kg this time last year. I took wegovy for 3 months abd dropped to 110.4kg but had to stop as our mortgage adviser said the mortgage company wouldn't like it!!
Crept back up to 118 but held steady there for 3 months. Now in our new house and restarted wegovy from scratch this week. Already down 0.6kg and no side effects.
This time I will be sticking with it long term.

MooBaggage · 04/10/2025 08:58

@Reginaphalangeeeee I think she's right re: skinny jeans being 'out'... I've worn them all my life! But have got a pair of straight leg jeans from Yours (from Vinted, obvs) and must admit they look tons better - make my legs look longer and more in proportion!

So I'd go for straight leg as a middle ground - or bootcut like those M&S ones. Wide leg is a step too far for me! 😀

OP posts:
GiveMeWordGames · 04/10/2025 09:04

Yeah, the size 16 Tu jeans I've owned for years which I'm this close to fitting comfortably back into are straight and I like how they look. Although, full disclosure, I've never been the biggest fan of skinnies. NB: On me and how they feel to wear rather than on other people.

gimmemounjaro · 04/10/2025 09:19

Tu are really good for jeans I think, I have two pairs of barrel legs from there. I also like Next for jeans, lots of choice, good quality denim, different lengths, they seem to deliver quickly and you can collect from your local store for free. I have or have had their mom jeans / straight legs and wide legs. It’s so personal to your height / leg length / shape that it’s hard to recommend a type really. I would probably order 6 or so pairs of 18s and send 5 back. And hope I didn’t love all of them!
Having said that, skinny jeans are supposed to be back in and there are plenty of them about in the shops so if that’s what you like, go for it!
