Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Never joined this thread as I didn’t really know how much I planned to lose, didn’t have a target and wasn’t sure when I was going to stop losing and switch to maintaining.
But now I’m here with a 6 stone loss and I can finally say it’s where I am supposed to be weight wise.
Started at 16st dead on and am now 10st and a size 10 all in proportion. The last stone has taken about 3 months to shift, it’s all been a pound on and off with a few whoosh weeks but I can look in the mirror now and see a slim woman who looks well.
I’m 5’7 with insulin resistant PCOS so will continue using MJ for as long as they’ll let me, my BMI is now 21.9 down from 35!

alltablenochairs · 28/09/2025 16:31

@RobinEllacotStrike I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one with a furry overlord who regards their heated blanket as their sole property!

MooBaggage · 28/09/2025 16:53

Well done @TheChosenTwo that's brilliant! I also have PCOS and a host of other autoimmune conditions - thank god MJ battles through them and we can finally lose weight! Let us know how maintenance goes - are you reducing your dose? I'd love to get to being back on 2.5mg and stable - one day....

Welcome @TheChosenTwo, congrats on your 6st loss and good luck with the maintenance bit. I have similar stats, BMI 35.6-22.7 - transformational 💪
Sometimes I forget and have to remind myself how bloody amazing it is! 🤦‍♀️

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/09/2025 17:32

Another 2kg down. Bit of a whoosh!

sw 124kg
cw 80.5 kg
43.5 kg down

wearing one of my Vinted jumpers. Massimo ditto turquoise cotton cashmere v neck. It’s quite snug fitting but comfortably so. And as the top of my b belly is so reduced, it looks fab. My curves are back.

Sam187 · 28/09/2025 19:46

Evening all... I'm back ☺️ tried to catch up with the chat since my holidays but my you are a talkative bunch 😂.

Hope everyone is doing well 🎉.

Haven't done my official weigh since galavanting across Europe for 2wks, but had a quick 'jump on' this morn and it doing look like the disaster I had imagined.

Back to jab night this evening and looking forward to getting right back into routine.

QueenOfHiraeth · 28/09/2025 19:57

Well I have bewildered myself today! Went shopping (again) and changed my usual classic style and pernicketiness as I have decided that I'm not spending out on posh clothes until I know where my goal is and where I might end up so fast fashion it is. I'm absolutely shocked to have got a couple of Primark bits in a small size, admittedly needed medium in others but still...😳
Weighed in this morning at 74.7kg so total weight loss of 5st 12lb now, tantalisingly close to the 6st mark although I am still overweight according to BMI (26.5)

gimmemounjaro · 28/09/2025 20:03

Ooh some lovely big milestones on the horizon for you @QueenOfHiraeth !

Goingincirclesstill · 28/09/2025 20:48

Changed names along the way but been here since about October when I first began to believe that this may actually work...

Today is 1 year since I started on Mounjaro after doing lots of research whilst on holiday 2 weeks before getting hot and frustrated. Here is a few stats to motivate you and prove it works....

Started on 2.5 for a month, 5 for a month and been on 7.5 for the rest of the time. No significant side effects so have been lucky

Starting weight of 18.7 stones
Today's weight 10.6.5 stone.. . ..
That is somehow a loss of 8 stone and half a pound!!!

BMI was 45.9 which was obese 3
BMI now is 25.9 - have only 6.5lbs to go to get into the normal weight category

Haven't redone my measurements yet but was in a 42" dd bra and now 36 C. Was a good size 24 probably a 26 in jeans ....now solidly in a 14. Sold loads on vinted and basically kept going down sizes with the proceeds

Also my psoriasis is generally much better as is the arthritic ankle pain it produced

QueenOfHiraeth · 28/09/2025 21:41

Well done @Goingincirclesstill
That's amazing going!

alltablenochairs · 29/09/2025 00:01

A NSV for you all. I need to adjust my chair again. Grrrrrrr as its a monumental pain in the arse doing it.

A year ago my leg was squished against the side guard and the side guards had been moved out about an inch and a half each side. A year on MJ the side guards are right in to the frame now and I have also added a half inch spacer either side. It isnt enough though as I like a snug fit.

Will you be able to go chair shopping? Or are you expecting to lose more weight and then do it?

UnimaginableWindBird · 29/09/2025 17:29

I've just signed up for personal training sessions! I'll be starting next week before I have a chance to overthink it. She seems really nice and encouraging and enthusiastic,

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/09/2025 18:29

I have joined a gym I used to be a member of years ago and been going swimming.

They have an appt thing where they look at things like your 'bio-age' and fat and muscle composition on a machine but I haven't braved that yet! Maybe soon.

After trying wegovy for a month I have gone back to mounjaro. Bet the pharmacy is fed up with my faffing around. I couldn't decide what to do.

Now I am kind of regretting it, as seem to be getting more side effects, 5mg but feeling tired, nauseous and generally grotty. Missed the swimming I was able to do on the wegovy, and food being generally palatable and not like something to be endured!

Maybe it will settle down, I hope so as I have three other pens in the fridge. I think, as I have got most of the weight off I will go lightly with it from now on and not bother about speed up weight loss from now on, even though BMI is 27 I'm sort of up for maintaining now.

I'm nearly 50 as well and kind of happy with that. I have an elderly relative who is thin and I think has been possibly anorexic most of her life she is struggling with osteoporosis and not keen on getting that.

Oh that topic is anyone taking calcium supplements or trying to keep their intake up? I like greek yoghurt and protein shakes with milk in but find them hard to stomach at times.

I dont have an end goal yet- too many years of slimming world and other diet clubs have given me an all out horror of these. However I do have another 30ish kg to lose before I have a healthy BMI- I started with a BMI of 45.

Not replacing the chair- it can thankfully be adjusted inwards although its supremely faffy to do and involves allen keys. As for chair shopping- I'd love another chair but truly personalised chairs are very, very expensive (youre starting about 3-4k for a manual and around 7k+ for a powerchair). As it is I already have 3 chairs- 1 powerchair and 2 manual. And a DH who moans about the house looking like a wheelchair salesroom. My answer is you always have more than 1 pair of shoes so I have more than 1 chair!

Darlinghag · 30/09/2025 13:19

Hi all, I’ve been MIA, mainly because I am just going through the motions, I’ve been jabbing, but not much else.

I won’t bore the thread, but my mental health had really nosedived in Sept - something I’ve never experienced properly before. The last week has been much, much better though, and I think I’m on the way back up.

There hasn’t been significant life changes, just lots of little ones that have stacked up and gotten on top of me. I’ve always been good at not letting that grind me down, but not recently.

I do think its hormone related too - which is MJ related too. My periods had always been what I call ‘muted’ - irregular, inconsequential - before MJ and weightloss. Now they are more regular, heavier and I feel the mental symptoms much more strongly - PMT, work stress and personal issues made me absolutely awful!!

I think I need to take much better care of myself im this way - I don’t think its specifically MJ and rather weightloss, and first time its been like this since I started 14 months ago, so I am continuing but deffo need to keep a better eye on my moods and implementing proper structure that helps manage them.

there’s a lot of posts - I will attempt to catch up and hope everyone is well! i’m going to keep the scales in the cupboard a little longer!

gimmemounjaro · 30/09/2025 13:48

Welcome back @Darlinghag and hope you continue to feel better. Isn’t life just one bloody thing after a-bloody-nother sometimes.

I would say, just keep an eye on the MJ, after about a year and a decent loss I developed side effects I had never had before. At first I dismissed MJ as the cause because there seemed no rationale for that, but they improved very quickly when I reduced the dose. Mine were cardiac and I hadn’t thought about mh at all, but that also definitely improved. I am feeling lighter mentally and more positive since taking less MJ. Even though I hadn’t noticed a lowering of mood.

Anyway maybe not relevant but take good care of yourself and yes, ignore the scales, who cares what they have to say for themselves anyway! 💪

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/09/2025 14:02

lovely to see you @Darlinghag
Sorry you've been having a tough time - it sounds like you have a good strategey in place.

Have you/are you considering HRT? I can't remember how old you are. It can make all the difference if you are peri-meno. For me the estrogen HRT just made me feel "normal" again (I'm still working out the progesterone side though - trying a new form as of yesterday so wish me luck). Anyhow this could be worth considering / exploring.

Darlinghag · 30/09/2025 18:19

Thanks both, I will be keeping an eye on it and maybe diarising how things go! My dose has been consistent for 11 months and effects are not strong really - days 6-7 feel unmedicated most weeks! So i hope i don’t need to reduce.

i don’t think its menopausal as i’m 38, but i suppose peri is a potential consideration!

honestly, I think i’m just finding it harder to manage my ADHD as i age, and its making me anxious and possibly at risk of burnout. I’m hyper aware of it and i hope that means i can manage it better - although consistency is unfortunately not a quality ADHD appreciates!!

InfoSecInTheCity · 30/09/2025 21:34

I am in a really foul mood and I don’t know why. The last few days I honestly feel like I just hate everyone, the smallest thing has me swearing in my head and biting my tongue to stop myself snapping something mean at whatever poor bugger dared to be in the general area that I’m in. It feels hormonal but is the wrong time of the month, I’m wondering if it’s because of the change in the weather or work being busy, or not sleeping well or just a combination of it all, my poor husband is keeping a low profile and spending a lot of time on his computer.

MooBaggage · 30/09/2025 22:25

@Darlinghag @InfoSecInTheCity I'm sorry you're both feeling lousy at the moment 😔

Could the darker days have anything to do with it - I know that although I love Autumn for its colours, I really don't like the darker days setting in...

I hope you're both feeling better soon - more like yourselves xxx

After my 2lb loss last week, I haven't lost anything this week, which is my usual pattern these days... I lost 6lbs in September though, so am very happy with that! Hopefully I'll see a lb drop off along the way later this week 🙂
