Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

That sounds like a sensible goal, @VelociraptorsVelociRapping and soooo close! Fitting into 12s is the dream for me. I can't imagine it yet and I'm sure I'll be exactly the same when (if*) it happens. I'm still side-eyeing 16s in disbelief so I hear you there.

Well done @ReluctantCustomer on your loss and pushing past a set point.

*it may never happen on top. Even way way back when I was slim, I would often need a 14 due to boobs and broad shoulders. But, never say never as my fat distribution has definitely morphed a bit in middle age.

UnimaginableWindBird · 26/09/2025 10:08

Wow @GiveMeWordGames ! What a difference,!

Aw, thank-you, you lovely lot! 😘I really needed to remind myself how far I've come because it's been a rather frustrating week, and I'm so glad I've got the photos to show me that.

That's an amazing change @GiveMeWordGames
You are doing incredibly well

NotsosunnyShropshire · 26/09/2025 11:44

Taken my 25th jab according to Shotsy. Why do I still get huge nausea within minutes of taking it?

🤢

It's the smell of the alcohol wipe for me. Ugh.

Slowrunning · 26/09/2025 20:26

Don’t write off a size 12 just yet @GiveMeWordGames I started on MJ at the end of Jan in a size 18-20. I have always needed bigger sizes on top due to my boobs.
I have lost 6.5 stone and am now a size 10 in tops and a size 12 in bottoms. My shape has changed completely.
I bought a size 10 jumpsuit the other day off Vinted and it not only fits but I look really slim in it. I was so chuffed I didn’t want to ever take it off 😊.
your photos are amazing - you got this 🥳

Amarajean · 27/09/2025 01:17

@Slowrunning 6.5 is an amazing loss! A massive well done to you.😀

HumBumBum · 27/09/2025 07:39

Sorry I’ve not been around for a few days here, congratulations @InfoSecInTheCityon losing a whole other you!!

I also wanted to report that I too have collarbones, I just didn’t know until @MooBaggageshowed off hers - what a lovely surprise to find them after all these years!

GiveMeWordGames · 27/09/2025 08:13

6.5 stone is a fantastic loss, @Slowrunning . You deserve to wear that jumpsuit as much as you want. 😁

Clearly the scales have heard me grumbling this week because this morning they finally showed me what I wanted. I must have successfully shaken off the after effects of the work trip.

27 weeks in (or it will be on Monday). Early 50s. 5ft 8. Currently on 7.5mg.

SW 17st 4
CW 13st 4
TW 11-12st

4st down, about 1.5 to go to get to my goal range. That feels like touching distance.😳

Happy Weekend everyone!

gimmemounjaro · 27/09/2025 10:05

Nice work on the 4st loss @GiveMeWordGames an excellent milestone 👏👏

Weigh day for me too after 7 weeks of maintenance:

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 154.1 / 11st / BMI 22.7
(-0.6lbs this week)
GW: remain in the 150s

Still on MJ and have reduced to 6.8mg so far. A tough week, my highest weight over 7 days was 4lbs higher than my lowest, quite alarming. There was definitely some uncontrolled eating going on - maybe a hangover from last week when I was away, maybe just that the dose is low enough now to wear off. Or maybe as I instantly assumed, it’s the beginning of The Great Regain and I am about to be fat again 😂

(It’s not - I did find my way back to normal by going back to basics and reading my list of thoughts and instructions every day.)

It’s quite tricky caring enough about a little gain to take it seriously and stop it in its tracks, but not caring so much that it sets off a panicky response of eating wildly. That’s the line I am trying to identify and follow at the moment - interesting! Also trying to eat a bit more intuitively rather than with my diet head on. So asking myself am I hungry yet, what do I fancy, am I full now, rather than will this fit into my calorie allowance for the day. I do need to stop assuming the worst all the time but maybe that will come with experience as I hopefully continue to navigate maintenance. I’d like to come off MJ but worst case scenario is that right now I am doing fine and financially I can manage to stay on this dose or something similar. So there is absolutely no rational reason to fear getting obese again. But it has always happened before and it would be so so awful, and there is still residual shame for being so fat in the first place, and a corresponding feeling that I don’t deserve this success and it’s all about to go wrong - so that is where my brain goes…🤷‍♀️

I have been on 6.8mg for 3 weeks so time to come down a bit more. And will be interested to see whether Mon-Tue are difficult again (I inject on Tuesdays.) I’m ready for it this week though 💪

Here endeth the enormous post. Thanks for allowing me to continue posting maintenance thoughts - as you can see lots for me to figure out psychologically as well as eating-wise, and nobody irl knows I am on MJ so you guys are my only outlet, poor you! 🥴

WeAllHaveWings · 27/09/2025 14:57

Weekly weigh in and another neat 1lb loss this week 😀

End of week - 66 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 8 x 3.08mg)

SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 12st 07lbs BMI 26.2
TW - 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 (healthy!)

Total loss - 8st 12lbs (124lbs), 41.5%

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) - 1,2,1,3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1,1 (avg 1.1)

Well done to everyone on some great losses this week! Well done on the 4st milestone @GiveMeWordGames, amazing progress! Size 10s @Slowrunning , with my 32H boobs, don't think that will ever happen here! 🤣 well done!

Welcome back and well done for getting to 12st something @alwaysscared a massive achievement! 💗

In awe of your achievement @InfoSecInTheCity and so very pleased for you 💗

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping Good to hear you are still doing well. I hold up my 14 jeans I am recently into and think they are so tiny👖too. I have another 9lbs until my next target and healthy BMI. I wonder if that 9lbs will take me to a size 12 which is unbelievable from starting at a 22/24. I don't want to buy too many 14s if a 12 is a possibility in the next couple of months. Although I will be disappointed if my new (expensive for me!) Didrikson coat gets too big! 🙈

Enjoying reading your maintenance progress updates here @gimmemounjaro. "The Great Regain" is not touring here ever again - we'll all chase them out of town together! My take aways from your post this week are gains will happen, don't panic, remember the basics and trust all will be good. You've got this!

For anyone also starting to be interested in maintenance I put a post on the main maintenance thread 2 ( @gimmemounjaro is part of) which was an AI summary of all their thread 1 (over 120,000 words!) posts. I won't post it here as a bit long. It brought together lots of useful points from the previous thread for those thinking ahead or getting close to maintenance in the future.

Have a great weekend all, I've just had a KFC with ds - not my first choice but an opportunity to have a mum/son lecture chat about how important this uni year and his dissertation is! Trying to encourage him to give up his PT job to focus on it, but he thinks he can do it all - uni, dissertation, 20hrs PT work, see gf nearly every day (they are very 😍), socialise with lads and get some decent exercise and sleep too! 🙈 But that could be another thread of its own! I need to not catastrophise and worry (that's where emotional eating comes in!) about him taking on too much, missing this opportunity and impacting in his future!

That was a long one! TL;DR? Have a great weekend all and here's 🥂 to next weeks successes!

NotsosunnyShropshire · 27/09/2025 15:35

Had an ENORMOUS clothes clear out today. All my 24’s, most of my 22’s. Kept some of the expensive ones incase I need them again soon. Even the 22’s are slightly too big, but my head hasn’t caught up with my current size 20 yet. How long does that take? I’m wearing a couple of 18’s now and still my brain won’t compute.

I also bought a new belt today to keep my slightly too large jeans up. Recently replaced my stretched XL with another XL. Now have the same belt in an L. Black leather men’s belt from Next. Had the same style for years.

Local hospice charity shop will be getting 2 big IKEA bags full to the top tomorrow.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/09/2025 15:43

Amazing losses every one !!

FYI my local Timpsons add extra holes to belts for a coin donation into their collection tin. I’ve got 2 belts to add holes to.

I am returning my gorgeous Elvis & Kress belt to the manufacturers & they will resize it for me - on my “to do” list.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 27/09/2025 18:55

Have added another bin bag to the pile. Mostly coats in this one.

eta: thanks for the belt tip!

@WeAllHaveWings i am waiting for Christmas sales before a invest in another expensive winter coat. My pricey Rab one is two years old. I could only do the zip up by breathing in at the beginning of Nov 24 and by February 25 I could put my hands in the side pockets and whoosh around me. I put it on this week and I clearly need a new one 😂. But I have a stone to go before BMI 25 so I am going to hang onto my credit card until then.

I've just been toying with the idea of buying another Seasalt coat while they have 20% off this week but have restrained myself.
I found a replacement for my lovely lightweight American Slicker one this week in Primark of all places for just £30. Just hoping it is as waterproof as it looks now!

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/09/2025 21:16

I have a bright yellow waterproof raincoat with “RBK&C” on it. From former council worker. It’s always been a bit snug to wear - not great in a raincoat. Of course now it’s brilliant.

DD says I wear it with my stripy tights as Coraline for Halloween.

anyhoo just stopping by to say my heated blanket arrived & im test driving it on the sofa. It’s bliss.

My cat has never been so ridiculously relaxed. 😎 🐈‍⬛🥝🥝

GiveMeWordGames · 27/09/2025 21:20

That is one blissed out cat. 😂

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/09/2025 21:25

My Squid Ink Seasalt waterproof coat is still doing well. It’s loose but I think it looks ok still. I brought it jan 2018 & it got very snug. Then I switched to a (much bigger) dryrobe.

I wear dryrobe to cycle to yoga in now.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/09/2025 22:00

Oooh @RobinEllacotStrike is that the Dreamland Husky? I have it and it's still going strong after 3 years. It's one of the things that I would unthinkingly and immediately replace if it failed.

Top Tip: If you wash it, it's worth getting a Tangle Teezer-style brush (around £4 from TK Maxx) to brush it afterwards, to restore fluffy silkiness!

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/09/2025 22:43

Yes it is @SqueakyDinosaur. the zebra version.
we have those brushes here thanks for the tip.

OnwardsDownwards · 28/09/2025 08:34

Still struggling here, haven’t felt much impact on 10mg, better than 7.5 where I was actually ravenous, but nothing like the first few weeks of 5 when it worked. I have 3 shots of 10 left, and a second 10 pen. Thinking of using that for 12 and seeing if any change.

However my body shape is still (very) slowly changing, I’m doing 3 sessions a week of fairly heavy lifting, and have upped the dog walking (dog is a fan!). I absent minded jogged up some stairs yesterday, I definitely wouldn’t have done that 6 months ago! And I’ve given in and ordered some new knickers, am trying to save money but at some point there’s going to be an embarrassing incident if I don’t have better pants!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 28/09/2025 09:09

This time last year I couldn’t really do yoga or Pilates as my bum and tum were just too big 😂

MooBaggage · 28/09/2025 15:58

I'm having an up and down weekend, food-wise... the food noise is back quite a bit and I've been nibbling at crisps and had more red wine than usual last night.

Today has been fine - I haven't eaten much and don't feel the need to snack. I'm still thinking about increasing my dosage to maybe 9mg, using my new 7.5mg pen for a few weeks, and then buy a 10mg pen next.

It was probably just a one off bad day yesterday, but am so worried about slipping - which makes me scared about how the hell to taper down when I need to start maintenance - but that's about 9 months away, so no point worrying just yet..!

I'm so glad and grateful this medication exists, but it's certainly not the 'easy way' as some people think - the stresses might be different, but they're still there!

I have had no trouble eating less this weekend, an almost new filling broke on Friday evening and the sharp edge has caused a nasty ulcer on my tongue ☹️

I got some gel for it earlier but feel a bit rubbish, hope everyone else’s weekend is going better.
