Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Lots of chat while I've been away! Congrats on hitting 5 stone @MooBaggage and on just being overweight @lifetheuniverseandeverything42 I can't help with pomegranates or enzymes.

Got home from work trip yesterday evening and weighed this morning at 13st 5.25 which is the same as before I left. It gives me a loss of 1.5lbs since last Monday.

I found it hard TBH. The buffet food at this (corporate, residential, arse end of nowhere in Northern France) place varies from ok to not great to absolutely weird and I struggled to make choices that were both healthy and proteiny. eg mountains of cheese (and bread of course) which previously I used to dig into, now I allowed myself a sliver. Bizarre salads (greens, edamame, broccoli, olives, mushrooms, strawberries and edible flowers anyone?) Breakfast options were ok but, as I suspected, I found eating relatively late and starting early really didn't agree with me and I ended up with sulphur burps by the second day, which I haven't had for months! By yesterday I was mostly subsisting on nuts. 😂I suspect I need to rehydrate quite a bit too as I had quite the headache when I woke this morning. I'm looking forward to a quiet day of getting back to normal, food-wise.

@GiveMeWordGames I’m off to the US for a work thing in a few weeks and will basically be stuck in a very nice hotel with 3 course meals provided and limited time/access to shops. Bit concerned it’s all going to be very rich and carby so I will be taking a collection of travelling snacks.

Found these little pea snacks by a company called Taking the Pea which are tasty, crunchy and light to carry.

make sure you get plenty of water and focus on a few days of high protein low carb to get things backtrack. Don’t worry too much about calories just get your body back into the habit and give it a chance to re-balance before you hit the scales.

Zebracat · 24/09/2025 09:46

Huge well done to @MooBaggage for reaching 5 stone lost. And the Same to @lifetheuniverseandeverything42 , please post your stats , I’ve 3 kilos to go before I’m overweight and need some motivation .

GiveMeWordGames · 24/09/2025 09:47

@InfoSecInTheCity thank you, I'll track down those Pea snacks before my next trip to the same place in November. I took some PipnNut nut butter oat bars with me but that was all and having a non-nut based snack option would be good. I imagine a US work jaunt will be VERY challenging.

It's so different to being on holiday because you're not just out of your own routine you're on someone else's, whether you like it or not, for things like mealtimes. It's not something I've ever given much though to pre MJ because I didn't care and just feasted merrily on the endless sweet snacks at all the coffee stations and vast range of desserts at the buffet - because of COURSE the one thing this place does well is puddings. 😬

Yes, today I am very much going to be guzzling water and enjoying my protein in various forms.

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/09/2025 10:10

I went last year, and the work ‘campus’ is massive and a good 20 minutes drive from the nearest shop, the hotel is actually part of the campus. They will provide a full cooked buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and there are constant streams of pastries, cakes, cookies and sweets bought into the conference rooms to keep everyone fuelled for 10 hour days of workshops. I can avoid breakfast but will need to eat something they provide for lunch and dinner but it will all be bread, stuff in rich sauces, veg in butter and oil, potatoes in multiple variations…… so it will be some very odd food combos for me trying to pick out the things I can eat to make a plate up.

im taking my pea snacks and some Barebells protein bars because I can carry those in hand luggage and they won’t be stopped at customs.

GiveMeWordGames · 24/09/2025 10:18

Oh, yep, that all sounds very familiar indeed! Including the 'hotel' being part and parcel of the work campus. I wish you the best of British when the time comes. I have a bit more freedom in terms of what types of food I can take with me because of not flying.

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/09/2025 10:32

For handy snacks I could probably be happy for several days just eating raw almonds. I really do find them very substanstial (I feel like a dick writing that though & my daughters laugh and call me "almond Mum" even though they say I'm not one). If I'm out for the day I take a bag with me to keep hunger at bay if needed. They are my go to emergency fill the gap munch.

Re pomegrantates, I do the method @InfoSecInTheCity linked too. I use to do this into a large bowl, but now I can do it into the bowl I will be eating out of.
Table cloths are to be avoided as there is no way, even after nearly an year of daily pomegranate deseeding, that I would do this without getting juice on the tablecloth. It is a bit of a faff, but I find it a nice meditation before eating - a way of slowing down and getting connected with what I am eating.
I've never used the water method - wouldn't the water dilute the taste of the pomegranates? I willl give it a go and see.

I've made soup this week too - brown lentil, lemon & kale - the fridge is stocked with several portions. Its very hearty & an excellent lunch.

Gawd imagine thinking your vulva wasn't attractive enough? Poor women. I do wonder how self esteem gets so very low you would consider surgical alternations of your vulva for a man/men who were so very low grade that they would complain about the visual asthetics of the vulva of the woman who they are privileged to be in the same bed with? (I'm going to take a wild leap and assume lesbians aren't doing this to themselves or requesting their partners do it). Women hate has no limits.

alwaysscared · 24/09/2025 10:49

Not been on here in forever! I’ve finally broken my plateau, I’m now 5 and a half stone down and am in the 12 stones! I’m so happy, I could cry!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 24/09/2025 10:55

Well done @alwaysscared amazing achievement.

Goingincirclesstill · 24/09/2025 11:09

@alwaysscared
Well done! Was randomly wondering how you were the other day and meant to message on here but forgot :)

GiveMeWordGames · 24/09/2025 11:18

Nice to see you back and with such a great update @alwaysscared !

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/09/2025 11:25

that's brilliant @alwaysscared - I recall how you struggled at the beginning and were unconvinced it would work and now here you are in the 5 stone plus loss group! MJ really is marvellous.

There are a few of us on her who have lost 5 stone + now. Certainly for me I felt at the beginning that was a distant unachievable dream - I simply couldnt conceive it would be possible. Now there are loads of us, just on this thread, who have lost at least this much weight. Many others enroute to doing the same.

Life changing.

alwaysscared · 24/09/2025 11:28

Thanks everyone. It’s truly amazing isn’t it? I never thought it would be possible, but here I am, weighing what I weighed in my early 20’s!

Amarajean · 24/09/2025 15:00

Well done to all you 5 stone+ losers! What an achievement, I’m on my way at 4 stone lost. It’s so hard to see this weight loss become reality at first! But with each others support and the wonder of Mj we can finally see ourselves reaching a weight we’re happy with! Pre Mj personally, I couldn’t have lost so much!!

gimmemounjaro · 24/09/2025 15:11

Well done @alwaysscared that is an incredible result, chuffed for you 💪

Are you maintaining now, or still a bit more to go?

alwaysscared · 24/09/2025 15:18

@gimmemounjaro I think I’d like to lose a bit more, but I’m worried I won’t know where to stop. My BMI is 27 now, so still overweight

MooBaggage · 24/09/2025 15:26

Yay!! @alwaysscared - you're back! I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing - I'm so pleased for you!! 😍😍😍

Loving all the 5 stone barrier breaking going on - I remember doing my first post on this group (not sure what thread it was up to at that point!) in January 2025 and one of the first posts I read was by someone who had just hit their 5 stone loss and I remember thinking that even though my target was to lose 6.5 stone, this would actually NEVER happen for me - the it was an unthinkable thing.

And here we are - hopefully showing newcomers here that it can be done. I honestly think that if it can happen to me, it can happen for anyone, as I have been utterly hopeless at losing and then maintaining weight loss, my whole adult life. I was thinking the other day that I think this has been the longest period of time (8.5 months) I have ever sustained any level of weight loss. Having been to WW/SW many times over the years, I've probably done well for a couple of months, and then plateaued, then left and gained it all back plus some extra.

This has felt challenging at times, when the scales decide to be stubborn, but the MJ means my brain doesn't just give up and reach for the wine. I'm calmer and more measured in my thoughts about keeping going and giving it time, etc. This is a huge difference to my thinking processes re: losing and maintaining weight loss.

So pleased you've seen those scales move @alwaysscared - keep on keeping on! 💕

gimmemounjaro · 24/09/2025 15:33

I know what you mean @alwaysscared - I was worried about that too and actually recruited DD to tell me if she thought I was going to far. But in the end I decided to stop for myself - the prompt for me was when I could begin to see the top most ribs showing just below my neck. I wear a lot of open neck shirts and thought that made me look too skinny. Unfortunately that happened before the bingo wings and my little caesarean pouch fully disappeared but hey ho, at 54 I was always unlikely to turn into Elle McPherson in her 20s I suppose 😂
So this is my body now and I like it for all its faults.

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/09/2025 17:17

@alwaysscarednd @gimmemounjaro I’m currently wondering when or where the stopping point is. I have no plans to ever stop taking Mounjaro and I’m not actively chasing losses anymore but I am still losing. Finding the balance of the right number of calories and amount of exercise to keep a stable weight is a fine tuned thing.

Im currently 9stone 11 at 5ft 8 which gives me a BMI of 21. Which is still unbelievable to me!

im wearing size 12 clothes in the main though can do up size 10 trousers in some shapes and brand, I don’t believe I look gaunt or overly thin but I am trying really hard to keep a check on myself to make sure I don’t cross that line,

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/09/2025 17:27

I've started to get the "are you going to stop now/soon" comments.

But my BMI is 27 & my waist/hip ratio is .87 and it is recommended to be .85 or less for women.

And I can also see & feel there is still more fat to lose. So I'm still looking to lose another 8-10 kgs.

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/09/2025 17:48

I'm also BMI 27 now having lost 5 stone in the last year. Was BMI 40.

I have been flirting with wegovy but going back to mounjaro I think. Hoping to spread out a 10mg over 2 months by taking half a dose, or even 15mg over 3 months. Or that would be 8/12 weeks when they get rid of the golden dose. We'll see. I can't really afford it otherwise. I luckily have some discounts with my supplier at the moment so will see how long that lasts for.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's updates. I'm not sure what weight I want to get to. I'm 70kg at 5ft 4. Goal might be 55-60kg, I will see when I get there I guess.

Best of luck to everyone moving forward! PS wegovy was fine, a bit more 'food noise though' and constipation. I have a bowel condition so wanting to avoid that. But would not discount as an option for maintenance in future.

gimmemounjaro · 24/09/2025 18:44

The other variable I guess is Mounjaro @InfoSecInTheCity - so if you’re happy with what you’re eating but would prefer to stop losing weight you could always try reducing the dose a bit. I have started to find that I can eat more on the couple of days before injection day, for the first time really. So that helps to keep me from losing across the week. I do tend to lose otherwise unless I eat until I feel uncomfortable. It’s definitely a balancing act! And some days are just inexplicably hungry days and others are inexplicably don’t fancy food much days. It’s a very confusing interesting process! I have managed 6 weeks so far of maintenance, staying within a 10lb window, so at least my fears of immediately regaining 6 stone in the first couple of months have not come to pass!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 24/09/2025 18:49

My weight is 67.1kg at the moment with a goal weight of 60kg which will take my BMI down to around 24.8. Ideally I would like 24 but I need to see what I will look like, I started with a BMI of 41.4 😞. Current BMI is 27.6. Got just over a stone to go. I will get to 9 stone 7 hopefully and then decide on maintenance

alwaysscared · 24/09/2025 19:18

You are all amazing. Thanks for the comments. I can’t believe some people are in the 9 stones! I wasn’t that even that light when I was a size 8/10 and 18 years old!
I will always be on MJ at some dose, I’m currently on 6.25mg. Coming off for a bit before the surgery that never happened (now booked in for end of October) made my mental heath tank, so it has so many benefits for me.

gimmemounjaro · 24/09/2025 19:28

It’s so nice to read about everyone achieving their goals. I feel like we should have a big party to celebrate - with a buffet of Longley Farm cottage cheese and kiwis 😂
