Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Have been inspired to have a wardrobe sort out, and found I have enough for now and a few smaller items that almost fit. Currently trawling Vinted for a grey cardigan and a navy cardigan as those went in the rag bag! Much too big and really tatty as well.

Summer stuff has been bagged for the loft, minus a sizeable pile of too big items.

RobinEllacotStrike · 22/09/2025 17:10

Its satisfying work isn't it @Evenstar

I do wish I could just have smaller sizes in many of my existing clothing.

I have a much loved jacket that is now way too big - there was a smaller size on Vinted but I dawdled & when I went back to buy it it was gone.

I'll have to get selling @gimmemounjaro as I like the idea of having Vinted bucks on account.

Evenstar · 22/09/2025 17:16

Definitely @RobinEllacotStrike agree on being sad to let some things go, I have actually bought a few items in a smaller size but not quite there yet.

Also frustrating the variation in sizes as you and others have said, I have everything between 16 and 22 that still fit, the only answer is to try it all on which is time consuming.

I must admit I now feel a bit embarrassed that I was obviously squeezing into the larger sizes and thought I looked OK 😳

Arglefraster · 22/09/2025 17:22

Congratulations @ShrankLastWinter🎉🎉🎉

Sounds like you've done some amazing work @RobinEllacotStrike& you'll reap the rewards! The T-shirts made me laugh, today was the single day of the year, each year when I regret owning no short sleeved tops - flu jag day!

I saw some people I haven't seen in 3 months today & got the dreaded (by me) "have you lost weight" but it was fine!! I said yes a bit (they've seen me every month since I started so I think I've maybe shifted from super fat category in their heads to just fat 😃) one said "yes I can really see it in your face" & I moved the conversation to annoying husbands who cut out one biscuit & lose weight (guaranteed winner 🤣). So thinking about why it was ok it's the lack of judgment - the face comment was 100% factual & there was no suggestion that one state was preferable to the other, so that was really nice!

With Snag bras, are the fastenings and strap adjusters made of metal or plastic? I am allergic to nickel and can't wear bras with any metal in them

Evenstar · 22/09/2025 19:55

@AnneinEdinburgh the Snag ones do have metal, I asked my DD who has a very bad metal allergy (just about every sort) and she uses a company called Wildemode, that have metal free options you can choose, say that Molke are highly recommended by other allergy sufferers, there are Sub-Reddits apparently where you can see recommendations and tips.

Evenstar · 22/09/2025 19:56

Edited previous post as incorrect info on this one.

MooBaggage · 22/09/2025 21:36

@AnneinEdinburgh the Molke original version bras don't have any metal and are amazing once you find your size - I wear the original and flexi types (which do have metal) and wouldn't wear any other brand now!

Thanks @Evenstar and @MooBaggage - great suggestions. I am wearing Lucy and Yak Iona bamboo ones and they are comfortable though they sort of squish everything in place rather than support upward if you see what I mean

The Wildemode and Molke ones come in lots of fun patterns. Very tempting! Whilst no one sees my undies (at the moment) wearing fun ones does give me pleasure.

I have a rather naughty NSV the other day. I have now hit 4.5 stones, down from 19 stone to just under 14.5. I had a checkup with the nurse at the GP practice. She was delighted with the changes, my reduced blood pressure and obvious general increased happiness and confidence. She said that the next time she did me a smear test, she fully expected not to be the last person that was down there since the last smear 3 years previously. Not sure I am quite feeling up to sticking a toe in the dating pool yet but ..... Sorry if that is too much personal info!

Onwards and downwards! x

MabelSpan · 23/09/2025 11:51

@gimmemounjaro thanks for explaining how Vinted works, I might be brave enough to give it a try sometime now.

@MooBaggage How did I miss your 5 stone loss!!!! Hitting the 5 stone loss mark was huge for me, and Im sure it is for you too, seriously well done! All your hard work is paying off big time😀

MooBaggage · 23/09/2025 17:06

Thanks @MabelSpan my SW twin! Yes, it's completely ridiculous, but I fell all super skinny now, whereas a few days before I felt HUGE because the scales weren't shifting 😬

@AnneinEdinburgh Loving that NSV - go for it!! Get back in that treacherous dating pool and get that foof back in play 😄 Also, tell us all about it so we can live vicariously...!

I know! The focus is always negative. The media is bloody obsessed with Ozempic face, ozempic arse, ozempic vulva, people in hospital etc. oh and as for Nadine Dorries and her ChatGPT MJ stories in the Daily Fail - it’s painful.

The media treats us like idiots. The editors probably get the juniors or work experience kids to write the WLI stories. Of course we know that if we lose a lot of weight there will be loose skin and the older and more we have to lose the more likely it is to happen. 🙄

WTF is an ozempic vulva?!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 23/09/2025 17:28

apparently we are all dashing to get it sorted out @NotsosunnyShropshire 🙄.

It the usual type of MJ click bait story, at least it isn’t one about us all clogging up A&E or stealing medication from diabetics who will die because of us.

alltablenochairs · 23/09/2025 17:57

All I can say about that is ouch. There's no way on this earth I would willingly want needles stuck in there. Some people are plain weird.

UnimaginableWindBird · 23/09/2025 18:05

I have question for you more experienced bods - I'm sure I've seen recommendations on this thread for digestive enzymes. If you have had good experience, which brands/type do you take?

I love Optibac. Only take them when I need a boost ie post Metronidazole or a stomach upset. 🤮

alltablenochairs · 23/09/2025 21:32

Some great losses on here the past few days. You lovely losers (and I dont mean that horribly!). Absolutely loving reading about those who are at maintenance as well- its giving me hope.

Even though life's been a bit life-tastic for me, I am still losing. The red hot killer dress that I brought on a whim in a size 16 fits me- DH has some fancy awards thing for work coming up quite soon. I'm also coming up to my 1 year MJ-versary. Didn't think I would stick it out for this long tbh. But I did and now I am massively noticing the difference. My all time fave pair of leggings being miles too big for me being one of them.

Quick question for the pomegranate eaters among us. How do you deseed one without making an almighty mess and turning your kitchen into a pomegranate-related crime scene? I know about whacking one with the back of a wooden spoon but doing that earlier ended up with needing a fresh cloth on the table. Yep, I still use traditional tablecloths much to the horror of the kids.

Zebracat · 23/09/2025 21:53

No tips for pomegranate sadly. I love my tin cloth tablecloth from John Lewis. Wipeable!
My best leggings look like harem pants, good enough for gardening, but not much else. My tshirt drawer is a sticking point too. I think my vest tops would usually go away, but I need to use them as vests, or maybe I need the long sleeves for layering. I just don’t know, always cold now. My 2 best long sleeves are too big, they look ridiculous, I never want them to fit again but they were really expensive.
I’m still drowning in clothes, but most things look ok , and I am enjoying dressing more. I went out at the weekend and wore my black velvet flares, they were very baggy but I still liked them with an embroidered top that’s always been too small until now. Understated boho? I liked it anyway. Saw a skinny friend today, she’s always been quite judgy about my weight. She offered me a size 14 jumper, I tried it on and it looked great. So weird,( she is very slim but likes things baggy!)

MooBaggage · 23/09/2025 22:28

I also have no idea about pomegranates - they are things that Other People have when I go and visit them!

But.... I did make some soup yesterday..! Inspired by this group and on a high from my weight loss, I chucked a whole load of frozen veg in my Ninja, added chicken stock and water and a shit ton of herbs and spices (although not too spicy - just ginger, turmeric, black pepper, paprika) and it's really nice - a lovely warm flavour! 😮

I've got tons in the freezer now and am going to have it for week day lunches - will make a v nice change from sodding spinach 😀

@alltablenochairs my grandma used to sit up down at the kitchen table with half a pomegranate and a pin and we’d sit and stab each seed/bit out individually, pretty sure it was just a grown ups trick to occupy children with a quiet activity for a few minutes though.

I’m not a huge fan but DD went through a phase a couple of years ago, I’d cut the top off, then if you use a sharp knife and make shallow cuts through the peel following the lines/ridges then you can kind of yank the segments apart. I found a video at the time, it wasn’t this one but he seems to do the same thing although I never used a bowl of water

Has anyone heard anything yet about when the reduction in volume might happen please? I don't want to stock up but, equally, don't want to get caught out again with what is, effectively, another price rise

UnimaginableWindBird · 24/09/2025 06:30

If you are a messy pomegranate deseeder, you can fill a mixing bowl with water, put the pomegranate (cut in halves or segments) into the bowl and take out the seeds underwater. That's way it's easier to pick out the pithy bits.

https://amzn.eu/d/aFay6fo

I use these, Mobu Digezyme. They are excellent value compared with the others on Amazon and I've used the brand before.

I usually only take them if I feel I might indigestion from what I've eaten and find they really help.

I should take more often, but there's only so many supplements I can manage a day.
