Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

I find sitting on hard or not very padded chairs a complete......... PITA as well. To the extent that I now have my office chair in the kitchen and I use that as a dining chair. On the topic of bones, my youngest was lap riding in the summer and told me that he could feel the bones in my legs and his bum bones were not comfy. As I have now lost more weight than he weighs he's probably got a bit of a point there!

On the topic of said cats, I somehow ended up training my cats to come for food by calling 'b@stards'. This has really backfired on me because I cant stand at my back door each evening yelling obscenities when 2 of my immediate neighbours have young children. Will they come to anything else? Will they hell.

RobinEllacotStrike · 19/09/2025 10:58

selling on Vinted is great if you get super organised with it @Zebracat but sometimes its just another "to do" in a long list, another pile of unwanted tat sitting around making you feel inadequate. Into a bag and out to a charity shop is quicker and often much better for so many reasons.

I have a 14yo desperate for ££ & shy of working for it (chores at home not down the mines). I'm trying to encourage her to sell all my old clothes on Vinted - the penny hasn't dropped with her yet just how lucrative this could be.

Bravo all the bony bummed!!! You need to start carrying around what Guides call a "sitter". My large Kanken came with a little foam pad inside you can whip out to sit on.

"Lesser spotted collarbones" made me laugh 🦒🦴😁

Loving all the Vinted updates, I need to stop buying and instead start selling - including the jeans I bought on there that are now too big for me. I’ve kept the pair I started with as my reminder to me of how far I’ve come, but the rest need to ship out.

Can also relate to the bony bum issue, which is also alarmingly flatter than ever - never been an issue before. I wouldn’t mind but my legs are staying stubbornly chubby including a big old saddlebag at the top of my dominant leg, so lack of backside makes it even more prominent. I need to start making time for the gym.

My plateau is hopefully over and the numbers on the scale are finally going down again. I’ve hit my four stone loss, so am now halfway to goal 🎉

SW: 119.3kg / 18st 11lbs BMI: 43.8
CW: 93.3kg / 14st 10lbs BMI: 34.3
26kg lost = 21.8% of starting weight
Started March 2025, currently on 7.5mg

I’ve just started a new pen and have three more waiting in the fridge. Will need to consider whether I stick with MJ or move to WeGovy once I’m on my final pen.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 19/09/2025 12:54

Meant to add my latest breakfast, overnight oats with Greek yoghurt and I’ve been adding chia seeds too for fibre. I’ve just been bunging in whatever frozen fruit I have to hand as well: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/overnight_muesli_with_57876

Make this blueberry and apple overnight oats recipe for a super-quick and tasty breakfast the next morning. Future you will thank you.

Yay for our emerging bones!

It was the National that made me realise too@GiveMeWordGamesI was feeling comfy side to side by not leaking over the seat but couldn’t find a suitable bum position for the old bones to settle into!

My new padded jacket off Vinted arrived today, I’m wearing around the house in the mini-heatwave (I‘m still cold), it’s time to get out the woollies!

Zebracat · 19/09/2025 13:31

@RobinEllacotStrike someone once described me as more organised than I looked, but that probably wouldn’t cut it on Vinted, so thank you for making me feel ok about just donating. I’m really looking forwards to less and smaller clothes, that fit in my drawers. I’ve got so many because nothing fits and everything looked dreadful but buying more of the wrong stuff doesnt help. I want to make considered choices and only buy things I need, that fit properly, look nice and work with my life.Unicorns!

Oh, I'm glad you've said this. I sometimes feel as if I'm the only person on MJ not selling on Vinted. I've been sending everything to charity shops because I frankly can't be arsed.

I have been looking on there at some lovely winter wool coats though. Which is dangerous. 😬

Hurrah for bones @MooBaggage ! And 4st down @ANutAsBigAsABoulder

We are often so full of "shoulds" that only serve to make us feel bad.

Releasing ourselves from the "I should (but I don't have the time/energy/dont want to)" can be as simple as giving ourselves permission.

Self permission can be tricky so please take this post as confirmation that henceforth we are all released from the obligation to sell anything especially clothing. It is no failing to donate clothing instead of selling it.

Keep that stuff moving, out of your closets, out of your house, into the boot & drop it off down the chazza.

There - you are all FREE now.

Happy weekend

@GiveMeWordGames I have this amazing wool/cashmere dead mans coat from the charity shop - £10. Its quite old but in mint condition.

I do feel a bit like Nick Cave in it, but I love it & I can't wait to be wearing it again. It will be too big now but swishy & long enough to still work I think.

Good luck with the coat hunt.

Of course if you want to sell your stuff on Vinted that is absolutely perfectly fine & dandy too.

Properly made old coats really last, and it's so hard nowadays to find actual wool ones for a decent price in mid-range clothing stores. You have to fork out ££££ . I've realised if I want the kind of coat I like without taking a second mortgage out, Vinted it is.

InfoSecInTheCity · 19/09/2025 18:00

I resell all my Popsy dresses because they retain value and sell easy, everything else goes in the Salvation Army bin at Sainsbury’s because I can do it at 6am or 10pm when I remember it’s in the boot and I don’t have to deal with any other humans in handling its disposal. It’s financially wasteful to me but I can manage without the money and don’t have the time or patience so well worth it in my calculations.

QueenOfHiraeth · 19/09/2025 18:16

I discovered a lady locally who sells things online for a small commission. Anything that doesn't sell, she either gives back or will take to a charity shop hub.
Even allowing for her cut of things I've had £150 back for no effort at all!

I came to this realisation a few years ago & letting all the "should eBay" stuff go to charity was a huge relief & I'm happy that the charity makes a wee bit of money while someone gets a bargain 😃

Karma for those times my DD walks in the door with a grin from ear to ear "look what I found" the best ever was a special edition spray edged book by a favourite author that my book dragon had not yet bought - £5!

HumBumBum · 19/09/2025 19:08

Are you still wearing Popsy @InfoSecInTheCity? I got rid of mine and haven’t thought about replacing, maybe I’ll take a look at the more fitted styles!

Genius. We could all do with a woman like this around the corner.

im working on 14yo DD to be my Vinted agent. She tells me no one on her Vinted will like my stuff. Bless her 😂😂😂

I dont have anywhere near as many as I did have but there are still a few of designs I just really love so I re bought them in smaller sizes from Vinted and the Popsy facebook group.

Blaze - book/library print in standard length, scoop neck, tie waist. I find that shape really flattering.
Hallows - love the print of the fabric would prefer it in a different cut
Barnabus Spooky dinosaur - again it’s all about the print on this one, I always get stopped and told how great it is when I wear it.

I did just buy the cherry skull Halloween dress too

Haven't really liked any of their newer designs for the last few months, the fabrics haven’t been to my taste (or lack of taste depending on your perspective) and they’ve been steering away from the tulip shape/standard tie waist which is my preferred shape.

alltablenochairs · 19/09/2025 22:19

We have 'former corner' in my house i.e. the space behind my bedroom door. Old/outgrown/wrecked clothes and textiles go here and when it gets to the point I cant open my door fully I bag it up and get DH to take it to the nearest rag bank. Both the kids will stick stuff in it but the oldest doesn't really outgrow clothes anymore and by the time the youngest has finished with his clothing they're usually not fit for anything else but the bin. Decent stuff I usually pass onto a friend of mine who's boy is 2 years younger than mine.

@GiveMeWordGames would absolutely agree with you on the coat. My previous didriksons coat lasted me 4 years and apart from an easily fixable, slightly dodgy zip it would have carried on going. I only got a new one because it was 5 sizes too big for me and looked ridiculous.

@RobinEllacotStrike I've got a sitter like you've described. More to the point its 600 little pockets of air shaped to my increasingly bony backside. Unfortunately the cat likes it just as much. DS went to sit on my chair earlier, forgetting to check under my blanket first. Cue one annoyed cat and a whack on his arse. However I reckon a few of the woolcool sheets inside an old dark pillowcase would make an equally fab sitter- might try this!

OnwardsDownwards · 19/09/2025 22:50

I’ve been having a vinted sort out tonight. I mostly just stick things I know will sell easily on there, basics go straight to the charity shop, and a third bag is filling up for the recycling.

I’ve kept one pair of shorts and one tshirt in the back of my drawer to put on if in the future I doubt how much weight I have lost. Even now, there’s inches spare in the waistband!

Have found some clothes I used to wear and love. And a lot which either are no longer my taste or don’t suit my new shape (never used to have a sticking out upper stomach!). Am attempting ruthlessness in sending those off.

Have also rifled through my scarf drawer. Feel a bit sad for past me, spent my 20s buying beautiful scarves and bags because the beautiful clothes didn’t fit me. So I have lots of bittersweet memories associated with them.

I am finding hard chairs very uncomfortable too, agree with @Slowrunning that it would be great to transfer some from the belly!

Yep agreed. I have a whole arse looking belly that fills my Jeans more than my actual bum.
I want some junk out my tummy and back in the trunk!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 19/09/2025 22:57

MooBaggage · 19/09/2025 09:15

I still have plenty of bottom padding, but happy to report that the lesser spotted collar bones have started to make regular appearances 😁. It's so exciting knowing I have actual bones...!

And yes, I am still in bed - hurrah for non-working Fridays (I work a 9 day fortnight - can highly recommend!).

Look at those @MooBaggage. Lovely dainty bones too! Mine are not visible, definitely chunky but I can feel them now

MooBaggage · 19/09/2025 23:18

Hahahahahaha @Reginaphalangeeeee Never in my life has anyone used the word dainty in association with me - thank you!! 😁🥰

I can't remember who was talking about face brushes - can anyone recommend them/ any kind in particular? I feel the need to try one 🙄😬

Yes to uncomfortable bum bones 😖
I particularly miss lazing around in a hot bath for ages, it’s just not very comfy now

Yes to heated blankets, we managed to keep our heating off until November last year, just heating ourselves and not a whole draughty house

Big yes to stupid arbitrary sizing, I am a solid 12 and 5’9” but wear clothes from 8-16.

Weigh day for me after 6 weeks of maintenance. I’ve been away all week, staying in a hotel and working in a very stressy environment. I have not felt in control at all, new behaviours went out the window and I was definitely eating to feel better rather than for hunger. Quite alarming and it felt at the time like the beginning of The Inevitable Great Regain but actually now I’m home I think I’m ok again. It will be interesting to see whether I just settle straight back down into my new normal, I hope so. I think expecting never ever to use food for comfort and stress relief again, after 45 years of doing so, is wildly unrealistic, so being able to do that for a few days and then go back to normal again will be really important. Anyway, I have had chocolate, crisps, beer, Nando’s, burger and chips from Deliveroo, copious amounts of food at a Korean restaurant, popcorn at the cinema, sooooo much bread, hardly any fruit and veg, and not enough water or exercise. I thought perhaps a 5lb gain would be fair enough, slightly dreading having to try not to panic if more than that. Anyway, it’s a mere 1.8lbs which is much less than it would have been pre MJ and very cheering. I am still below my maintenance starting weight. Probably jinxing it now but my body does not feel like it’s desperate to regain the 6+ stone I have lost. I am still on MJ so maybe that’s the only thing keeping me on track, but cautiously optimistic nonetheless.
Sorry for the essay.

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 154.7 / 11st 1 / BMI 22.9 (+1.8lbs)
GW: remain in the 150s

Currently on 6.8mg, down from 15mg at my highest, but mostly 10mg. I’m using a 10mg pen and will continue to slowly reduce. So far, so good 💪

MooBaggage · 20/09/2025 12:01

@gimmemounjaro that's such an interesting post - I think being away and out of routine is a killer - I finding it so difficult when I'm not at home, with ny smoothie making and routines around water and hand weights - but inevitably we can't do what we usually do all the time...

Great that you've recognised it and know what you need to do now - and what a great current BMI to have - you're very nicely within 'healthy'!

I'm frustratingly still 15st 4lbs - am weighing like a mad thing, but the scales are being Very Stubborn!

WeAllHaveWings · 20/09/2025 13:49

Saturday weigh in and a neat 1lb loss this week 😀

End of week - 643 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 7 x 3.08mg)

SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 12st 08lbs BMI 26.4
TW - 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 (healthy!)
Total loss - 8st 11lbs (123lbs), 41.1%

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) - 1,2,1,3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1 (avg 1.1)
(excluding first week outlier)

Interesting post @gimmemounjaro , do you think the reduced weight increase on holiday is because what feels like "copious amounts of food" has reduced, or because your body, with support from Mounjaro, is dealing with it better? Probably still too early days to answer!

@alltablenochairs the Didrikson Erika size 16 coat arrived, it was lovely on and a lovely coat, really liked it..........when standing. But I couldn't sit down in it comfortably without looking like an overstuffed sausage and that was just with a t-shirt and leggings on! Disappointing as the lighter weight size 16 Didriksons I got the previous week has plenty of room for a jumper underneath so thought it would be a sure fit. They don't have it in the size 18 for the same price (£150) and elsewhere seems to be well over £200 - which I am struggling to justify incase I do slim down to a 16 over the coming months - so will be keeping an eye out for any deals over the next few weeks.

So looks like we've moved on slightly from coats and boots! Are we all asking Santa for Brazilian Butt Lifts where they do fat transfer now? 🤣 Though I think I would be looking for a slightly lower British Butt Cushion instead! 🙈
