Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

@QueenOfHiraethabout the bra sizing. If the cup bit of your 38dd bra fits but it is the band size that is too big, you need to go down a band size but also up a cup size. (Look at sister sizing). You may want to try a 36e. If the cups are too tight they will be pushing on the band too making it seem tighter.

Pretty sure I’m going to end up on a naughty list with Next because I keep ordering £££’s of trousers, about 5 pairs at a time, getting them delivered to store, trying them on and returning the lot. My return/keep analysis will mean their algorithms hate me.

It's the only way, though. Also because of the multiple different brands on every website now.

@QueenOfHiraeth that's exactly what I feel like. I knew where I was with plus size stuff. Now I'm discombobulated. As far as bras go my head is firmly in the sand! 😫

alltablenochairs · 17/09/2025 16:37

All this talk of sizing reminds me of the stupidly overpriced monopoly website I have to order the kids school uniform from. It wont let you order anything until you input your child's sizes in. Except neither of my children are what you'd call regular sizes. Both of them are very tall and lean- oldest because they're a sportsperson and youngest because he's fuelled by ADHD and doesn't stop. Ever.
No, I dont want to use the 'helpful' clothes sizing wizard, thanks very much. Because you just dont get boys trousers with a 9-10 waist and a 13-14 leg......

@RobinEllacotStrike I've just ordered a box of pomegranates on crowdfarming from a farm called Verger d'Alicia. I've had fruit from this farm before and they are really nice.

InfoSecInTheCity · 17/09/2025 16:52

@QueenOfHiraethim 5ft 8 and 9st 13 now (holy fuck that that’s actually true BTW, the very idea of me having a weight beginning with 9 stone would have been hysterically funny and completely unrealistic in the past). I’m all leg with no ass and a short torso so it seems like I need the unicorn version of trousers. I have managed to find 1 pair in Sainsburys that I can wear for smart work type things and I have a couple of pairs of loose jogger type trousers from Primark that look pretty good but they’re typical Primark quality so I don’t think they’ll wash many more times before they lose all structural integrity.

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/09/2025 17:07

sizing grrrrrrrrrrr
I feel all your pains

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/09/2025 22:40

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 I went for the 36DD as the cups are gaping at the front edges on the 38DD so I thought the same might happen with an E cup.

@InfoSecInTheCity I am providing steady employment for a clothes alterations lady as, not only are the sizes variable, so are the trouser lengths. I tripped on some overlong trousers recently, fell and cracked some ribs which really bloody hurt so I'm not compromising again!

MooBaggage · 17/09/2025 22:50

Sizing grrrrrrrrr indeed! I am so firmly a size 18 for bottoms it is definitely absolutely the size I am. Except for in the gorgeous Joe Browns jeans I just got from Vinted, which I really want to wear because they are ace, but they are teeny tiny and I reckon it will be at least another month before it'll be worth trying again with them 🙄

Tops are pretty much a comfortable size 20 for me now. Except for when they're a 22. Or an 18. 🙄

Slowrunning · 18/09/2025 07:08

I went for a walk yesterday in:
Size 16 knickers
Size 12 leggings
Size 20 T-shirt and a
Size 10 Jacket

Sizings from different places are so out of whack!!

HumBumBum · 18/09/2025 08:30

Sizing is bonkers, and I must Be on the naughty list with M&S with everything’s that’s gone back. Plus I made a trip to store and the sizes available were all 16+ (the irony of finally needing regular sizes and not being able to find them).

I can now fit into 10‘s/12‘s/14‘s all from the same shop - absolutely no consistency!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 18/09/2025 13:43

All this talk of sizing has made me realise, I have no bloody clue!!!

My previous opinion was what I could ‘get on’ and ‘do up’ was my size.
Well I since think each person probably can fit and squeeze into 1-2 sizes up and down from what they are.
Fabric elasticity that gives over time only confuses it.

i took a gabble at some semi cropped wide leg jeans of SHEIN. My trusty wide leg draw string jeans are just getting wet in the rain and dragging in the floor even if I roll the waist band over. I have worn these same Jeans XXL from primark this year with 5 stone difference in weight. So I tried the XL, should fit better-nope, exactly the same. Ok dare I try a large.. nope, arse doesn’t fit 🙄.
So the SHIEN ones arrive- look small but button up fly great. A bit of stretch, oh but I can pull them down to go to the loo without undoing them. I think I have defaulted to this in my now bigger clothes 🙄

And after all that, I don’t know if they suit me/a bigger person? Yes fashion wise leg, but how about with trainers in a city break? Picture below (size 18)!

Arglefraster · 18/09/2025 14:26

The sizing stuff may explain some of my utter confusion with clothes 🤣

That photo looks nice @Reginaphalangeeeeebut I know I look awful in cropped trousers -they don't suit my size 10 teen daughter either so I assume it's about torso:leg length ratio & we are stumpy of leg!

I'm so excited I am 35kg down 🎉 and FINALLY my BMI is out of the 40s & into (the tippy top) of the 30s 😃
it's nice compensation for the horrible virus we've all got this week, my weird NSV is that I haven't felt like eating😂 I have always been that person who could always eat through whatever illness & I'm intrigued as to how MJ has changed that. Tbh I'm wondering how much of it is my normally very fixed ideas about things so I would eat hungry or not just because I hadn't eaten & I "should" 😵‍💫

RobinEllacotStrike · 18/09/2025 14:32

@Reginaphalangeeeee the jeans look great, & you'd rock them with trainers!
I'm wearing similar wide jeans again today & I find the silouette works best with a more fitted top.

With all the returns being a complete PITA for online shops you would think its hugely in the retailers interest to standardise clothing sizes at LEAST across their own ranges - you knoiw the ones they commission/design etc. Its very silly of M&S, Next etc not to be doing this & they are creating a world of pain for everyone.

In OMG IT FITS news - I took a risk and ordered some Saint & Sofia biker style boots from Vinted. Its a brand I like but as their boots are £250-£300 I've never bought any. So took a bit of a risk & basically they fit , they are nearly brand new & some kind soul has lightly worn them in for me. I feel like Bono (who famously has someone wear his clothing before him to shake off the crisp new vibe).
At £50 I am thrilled to bits with my new boots & they have 2 inches on the sole so I'm 5'10" when I wear them.

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/09/2025 16:08

Good find @RobinEllacotStrikeI also recently purchased some boots with a 2 inch heel which make me 5ft 10. I learnt that at least part of the reason high heels were always agonising was the sheer weight of me on the balls of my feet because these ones feel much better than heels have previously. I also love strutting about as a thin person, it feels very different to being a 5ft 10 big person, I used to just feel like a giant amongst normal sized people but now I feel good.

RobinEllacotStrike · 18/09/2025 16:17

I love being 5'8" but I will take a boost if I can. I agree 5'10" feels excellent now.

They aren't heels as such but a good chunkly sole so I can run away from or after baddies (depending on the situation) no problem.

Vinted is a pleasent new way to use my screen time.

I had one "disaster" with a fabulous SuperDry coat - it was another bargain, basically brand new, but their sizing is tragically small. So L doesn't fit & is too short in the arms. Thankfully DD1 loves it and will wear it so it all worked out. I'm quietly devestated & I'm looking for an XL now.

alltablenochairs · 18/09/2025 23:06

So I brought myself a heated blanket on a few recommendations here. I think its fabulous. So do my 2 cats. Pretty much every time I switch it on I can guarantee one of the furry fuckers will come and park themselves on my lap. There was some creative laptop holding this morning to ensure the client I was speaking to via Teams didnt get the cat as well.

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/09/2025 23:46

I was having to be creative on Teams too today @alltablenochairs I was at an Environmental Sustainability Expo which was planned and known about, and of course today was the day when I had a bunch of sudden and urgent calls I needed to attend. So there I am on any available seat I can find trying to hide my bags of free swag and look a bit more put together than I actually was, using my mobile phone to video call with the high ups.

MooBaggage · 18/09/2025 23:50

@alltablenochairs I bloody heart my heated blanket and on a day at home, segue from being under the heated blanket during the day, to lying on top of my electric blanket in bed at night 😬

I wrap myself up in it when I'm WFH and it makes life just that little bit better..!

@alltablenochairs"furry fuckers" 🤣🤣🤣
You're supposed to be grateful they let you share!

GiveMeWordGames · 19/09/2025 08:13

@alltablenochairs 😂 they're "helping" keep you warm. Like they help with clean laundry piles. And paperwork.

I cannot get used to the idea I might need a heated blanket. I've been a furnace most of my adult life and especially since peri. This is honestly one of the weirdest effects of MJ for me (it's not just the weight loss itself because I noticed it within days of my first jab).

HumBumBum · 19/09/2025 09:03

Oh this thread is certainly my people, I’m new to a leccy blanket as well, so necessary in our freezing house (it’s actually a reasonable temp but cold to me these days!)
Is anyone else concerned about bones in their bum? I can’t sit on a hard seat anymore as my bones feel it too much.

Oh my god yes!
My bum has no fat on it anymore and it’s uncomfortable 😳. I wish I could move a bit of the fat from my belly to my bum to give me a bit of padding back.
I keep thinking I’m sitting on something hard but it’s just my own bones 😀

I was really feeling it after a couple of hours at the National Theatre, and that was a couple of months ago AND their seats are pretty much the most comfortable of all London theatres! Yeah, I do miss the bum padding.

Evenstar · 19/09/2025 09:12

I am finding hard chairs very uncomfortable too, agree with @Slowrunning that it would be great to transfer some from the belly!

MooBaggage · 19/09/2025 09:15

I still have plenty of bottom padding, but happy to report that the lesser spotted collar bones have started to make regular appearances 😁. It's so exciting knowing I have actual bones...!

And yes, I am still in bed - hurrah for non-working Fridays (I work a 9 day fortnight - can highly recommend!).

Wide leg trousers are a nuisance on wet days. I was thinking of buying some cropped ones too. Bones! I now have cheekbones that rival Keanu Reeves’. Don’t know when they appeared. Guess that’s why people keep telling me I don’t need to lose any more weight even though I’m still obese. I’m wearing my Miss Mary of Sweden bra in a 40 f today. It gives a nice shape with clothes on, but honestly I could pick apples and store them in there. I found a pair of trainers in a 41 that I wore once because they were too small. Thought they might fit now, but nope, still a 42, another item for the charity bag. I really should sell on Vinted.
