Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Hi, im not sure I ever did a proper update on this thread so here we go. I’ve been going for just over a year, stats are:

SW 245lb (BMI 40.8)
CW 167lb (BMI 27.8)
TW 150ish - Normal!

I’ve lost 32% of body weight and currently take 45 clicks of a 7.5mg and losing pretty well after a slow summer (2lbs this week 🥳). I lost 14“ off my hips (my favorite NSV), I’m wearing size 12 jeans and selling size 20 joggers on Vinted. Life has entirely changed and although I’m still officially Overweight, I don’t feel it, I can go to the theatre and not have to touch the person next to me!

17lbs to get me into Normal, would like to get there by Christmas as that’s when my pens run out and will need to taper off a bit - hope that’s possible, the deadline is keeping me on track for now!

mince3point14159265 · 15/09/2025 21:24

Belated happy birthday to @InfoSecInTheCity 🎉 and congrats on completing the walk @MooBaggage . I would think that any weight gain is probably just your muscles retaining water, after being stretched a bit more than you usually do. I'm sure it'll fall off again quickly!

GiveMeWordGames · 15/09/2025 22:02

Strange NSV incoming. I love having long hot baths in Autumn and Winter and don't really bother when the days are long and the weather's nice. So I haven't had one since about April and when I ran the bath this evening, I didn't put nearly enough water in! I I'd automatically calibrated it to the old me and had to add loads more after I got in.

It's an odd 'Victory' since it's going to cost me on my water bill😅 but realising I take up so much less space in the tub now is amazing. Also, once I'd filled it enough, the water properly covered all of me rather than my belly poking up above the surface like an island.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 16/09/2025 08:48

Gosh, this drug finds new ways to humble me.

Titrating down, injected 5mg last night as the lowest dose I've had in months, this morning nauseous and sulphur-burpy for the first time in I can't think how long!

GiveMeWordGames · 16/09/2025 08:52

Oh, ugh, what a total pain after so long @VelociraptorsVelociRapping ! It's as if 5mg has to do its thing on the way down as well as up (it was the worst dose for me SE-wise). I hope it all subsides quickly and is a one-off.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 16/09/2025 08:54

I hadn't thought of that @GiveMeWordGames but you're absolutely right - 5mg absolutely kicked my arse on the way back up. I had repressed forgotten that!

Ah well, welcome back, my old foe.

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/09/2025 10:06

I was thinking over the weekend how I hadn't had a bath for ages (all year perhaps) and how I might fit in the bath a bit better now. I must have one soon.

DD1 this morning asked me to try on a pair of jeans she bought on Vinted that are a smidge too big for her. Well they fit me well - if a bit loose too. Not low rise but lower style than I have worn for years, wide leg, trendy brand. Im wearing them with a plain fitted black tshirt (I don't have many options for fitted tops right now) and damn it looks great. I feel like my funny body image took a bit of a leap towards my new realisty.

I mentioned that I need to go shopping soon & both DD's are wanting to come & support & be my stylists for the day. This could be fun. I know many woman do this type of thing with their daughters, but its not something I ever thought would be possible or even imaginable for me.

mince3point14159265 · 16/09/2025 10:58

@RobinEllacotStrike that sounds wonderful and brought a tear to my eye 🥲❤️ (mother of two sons here, very jealous!)

InfoSecInTheCity · 16/09/2025 11:28

I love coming here and reading about all the wins, even when it’s you wonderful ladies saying you’ve had a set back but are still here and are cracking on because you know if you do it will right itself!

@RobinEllacotStrike have a great shopping trip, I’ve been loving trying on new styles and trying to find me again, rather than just searching for anything the me I was could fit into. It’s almost overwhelming to know that I can literally find any item of clothing in my size now rather than being restricted to certain sellers and certain styles. Trying to figure out if I like something because I like it or because it’s part of a limited set of things available to me to like.

MooBaggage · 16/09/2025 11:38

OK, OK you were all right..! Official weigh day today and I've lost 1lb 😬

SW 13.1.25 20st 3lb BMI 43
CW 16.9.25 15st 4lb BMI 32.4

Also did my measurements and have lost 2 inches from everywhere in the last month - and my waist measurement now starts with a 3 - just - 39"!! (obvs when I suck everything in and don't breathe...). My waist to hip ratio is now under the 0.85 thingy, now coming out as being at 0.83, and as it's the only form of measuring where I'm not unhealthy, I'll take it!

Am very pleased - my posh scales have me at 15st 4lbs 1oz so am literally a whisker away from the 5 stone loss - hopefully by the end of this week...! 😊

good going @MooBaggage !!

I won't be shopping until later in October probably so a way off yet. But like @InfoSecInTheCity the thought that the whole of Uniqlo or Cos or Oxford Street or wherever is available to me to choose from is both a delight & a bit intimidating. Going though old clothes (from when DD's were younger) I remember how many of these clothes were because they "fit & didn't look entirely rubbish" - which is a low & desperate bar. I then started sewing a lot of my own clothes and I have some amazing dresses etc that I really miss wearing. Possibly I will be able to alter my favoirties or at least turn some dresses ionto skirts. I am looking forward to sewing some new clothes too and I have stacks of fabric already so they will be "free". just need time.

* SKIN BRUSHERS * TMI alert - for those who are skin brushing I have started facial skin brushing. I saw an advert on Insta & brought the face brush much cheaper on Amazon. Its only been a few days and its quite effective. After just a few minutes of face brushing I can feel "whatever" draining down the back of my throat so it is getting something moving. I am currently OK but I have life long sinus issues and can carry a lot of congestion in my face. So gross throat drainage is always welcome. I know its hard to judge but I do think it is improving my skintone, skin and facial puffiness, hooded eyes open up etc. Definitly worth adding to routine.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 16/09/2025 13:01

Hey all, great reading about your successes.
like you @Zebracati am here to feed off the inspiration.
Congrats on your long walk @MooBaggage!

Being so close o boundaries is exciting! Well done @lifetheuniverseandeverything42 and @NewbieMJ.

@QueenOfHiraeth yes back to basics is a great plan and staying kind to yourself with focus on what you deserve.
We all deserve to meet our goals and be healthier so let’s keep going.

@RobinEllacotStrikegreat tips. Thank you!

Really enjoy the talk of baths too…
My husband seems to have taken up residency in our bathroom and so it’s never quite the clean, fresh scented famine vibe I would like it to be for an enjoyable bath. Yes I could a deep clean and move his stuff alongside the kids swimming kit, but I think I may sit in the bath resenting it, but now you have me intrigued as to the possible benefit of a deeper bath!

I am slowly creeping down.
SW Jan 2025 136kg
CW 103.5kg
TW ?
And so I am delighted with 24%body weight loss and BMI under 35.
ofcourse a long way to go still but eyes set on under 100Kg.

When I see people with a starting point near mine I just think wahhhhh why did I let myself go that far. I know it’s slow steady losses now which is what I hope for but gosh I miss those sudden massive drops!

dimples76 · 16/09/2025 16:54

I loved your post about the planned shopping trip @RobinEllacotStrike

So annoying when these side effects resurface, isn't it. I have been fine for months but last week I was up all one night with diarrhoea and this morning after 'indulging' in a freshly squeezed orange juice ended up vomiting. I have not eaten anything since because I think more d&v is on the way.

I have 5 weeks of mounjaro left and then I am going to switch to wegovy. I think that I am going to start on the lowest dose of that in case of side effects. I think that I need to change my jab day too as I am a university lecturer- I would prefer not to need to run out to the toilet in front of 100 students! I am teaching on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays so I think that I will move it to Thursday mornings.

This thread has been a bad influence on me. I just made first Vinted purchase. A size 20 coat but it really swamps me - I guess a NSV of sorts!

QueenOfHiraeth · 16/09/2025 21:06

Well my going back to basics hasn't worked so far...
I gained 4lb over my holiday last week despite all my steps but, although it's mildly disappointing, I am not too bothered as a) it's a lot less than I would have gained in the past and b) it'll go again soon. Unfortunately this week so far has been derailed by DH not being well, nothing serious but he is irritatingly sorry for himself, and today being my friend's birthday complete with prosecco and cake. I'm feeling very envious of people who have such suppression they struggle to eat!
Oh well I'll try again tomorrow

MooBaggage · 16/09/2025 21:53

I've been weirdly hungry today and this is usually my highest suppression day, as I jabbed yesterday. I don't really want to increase up to 10mg - will see how this week goes, eating-wise - I suppose it's a good check in for whether the good habits of the past 9 months might actually stick 🙄

Don't like having the hungry rumbly tummy feeling though! Will up my water tomorrow, see if it helps (although am routinely drinking 3 x litres a day these days!).

OP posts:
alltablenochairs · 16/09/2025 22:15

What kind of actual sorcery is a heated throw?!?!?! Fluffy and heated, all at the same time. Ohhhhh yeah. Dh has taken to sleeping in the spare room with a fan on because he says the bedroom is one step removed from a furnace (last night was one wool duvet, 5 blankets, pyjamas, fluffy socks and I was still cold). Perhaps now I'm not piled up sky high with every blanket in the house he might actually end up in the bedroom.

I'm also really enjoying my pomegranates I got from Crowdfarming. For those not in the know its a website where you can buy various fruits (usually but not exclusively organic) direct from farms. Considering what organic fruit usually costs it works out a lot cheaper buying it like this. I got a 6kg mixed box of organic mango and pomegranates. And they are fabulous. Mangoes still need to ripen but they're earmarked for my food dehydrator anyway unless the kids get there first.

alltablenochairs · 16/09/2025 22:17

Forgot the pics.

I was eating said pomegranate with a cocktail stick hence why it looks half nibbled. In the box were 7 mangoes and 10 pomegranates.

GiveMeWordGames · 17/09/2025 09:27

Ooh, delicious looking fruit @alltablenochairs and the Crowdfarming website is impressive. I was curious where the tropical fruit would be coming from and was amazed by the the fact that, while it's mostly Spain, there's someone growing mangoes in Kent!!!

It sounds like this week has been a lot, @QueenOfHiraeth . That 4lbs will be off again before you know it.

Brilliant that you've lost nearly a quarter of yourself @Reginaphalangeeeee

Really good news on both the loss and measurements, @MooBaggage . I've never done any measuring so I thought I'd give it a go and am now UTTERLY confused and irritated. When I do my waist, unless I pinch a bit, it's 40", 39" at best. According to most shop size guides that makes me a 20. Except 20s hang off me now, I'm in between 16 and 18 with my jeans and I just tried on an old 00s era (100% cotton so no real give) size 16 M&S skirt and it fit like a glove. That should make me a 34" waist according to their guide. Measuring the skirt I would say it's more like 36". Are retailers just lying about what actual size their clothes are? Is that what vanity sizing is? Or am I just rubbish at measuring myself? All of the above, probably!😖

Anyway, according to my height I should be aiming for 34" or less so a way to go yet. I think I'm going to leave off measuring for now. 😂

Simple answer, yes, retailing are lying liars with pants on fire! Sizes don’t match up in any shop, most shops the same size is actually different to its friend on a different rack. I have tried on pretty much every pair of straight leg trousers M&S sells in size 10 and 12 and none of them fit right, some 10s are too small but 5hen the 12s are too big, some 10s are too big and the 12s are at risk of falling down, some 10s are good on the hips but not on the waist, others the opposite way round. All in 1 shop, by 1 retailer.

Lying liars!!!

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/09/2025 10:26

thaks for the heads up re pomegranates @alltablenochairs
they haven't had any available for a while but I've ordered one of those 6kg mixed boxes too. the DD's are wild about mangos & I am crazy for the pomegrantates.

GiveMeWordGames · 17/09/2025 10:26

@InfoSecInTheCity oh, my god, that's mad! It's infuriating, particularly now that shopping in person is no longer the default and it means buying clothes online is like playing darts blindfold and hoping for the best.

My town acquired a shiny new M&S a couple of years ago, after years without, but my initial excitement dimmed once I actually went there and found precisely zero long length trousers or jeans and almost nothing above a size 18. I couldn't even find a 5-pack of pants in 20, FFS. When I queried why the women of this town weren't apparently allowed to be either large or tall, it was explained that as a smaller shop it only gets 'standard' size ranges sent to it. So now thanks to MJ I'm ok below an 18, but my legs aren't getting shorter any time soon...

Zebracat · 17/09/2025 12:06

@GiveMeWordGames exactly! It’s so bonkers. I have no idea what size to try because the guides tell me I am a 20, but wore my size 20 leggings for a dogwalk today and they look like harem pants. I’ve been stuck this week with my weight going up but after 2 properly strict days and , finally a poo(sorry), I’m starting the down journey again.surely a lot of the issues with returns could be resolved with proper measuring. I like Poetry because they do give the actual measurements. Can only afford their clothes in the sale though.

OnwardsDownwards · 17/09/2025 14:22

I agree, sizing charts are just a lie. I’m in size 20 jeans, when I actually measured myself and checked the size chart for those precise jeans, it told me I should buy a 24.

Also I was trying to shop online and one store (can’t recall which) only gave me the option of their super duper automatic size guide. I gave it my height and weight and it told me a size. Which…I could write a page on why that is utterly useless!

I tend to buy from places with lots of reviews, and see what people say about the size of the items.

InfoSecInTheCity · 17/09/2025 14:49

Pretty sure I’m going to end up on a naughty list with Next because I keep ordering £££’s of trousers, about 5 pairs at a time, getting them delivered to store, trying them on and returning the lot. My return/keep analysis will mean their algorithms hate me.

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/09/2025 15:01

@InfoSecInTheCity @GiveMeWordGames Agree that sizing is mad. I am 5ft 6 tall and weigh just a bit under 12 stone but am struggling more to buy clothes now than I was at a size 24 because, at least I knew then, which shops to go to and which makes, sizes and styles looked good. I am currently wearing M&S size 16 jeans and jeggings yet their size chart tells me I am a size 20.
Don't even get me started on bras! I have always found the T-shirt bras from Asda fit me and wear well. I am currently wearing a 38DD but it is now loose around the band and the edge of the cups gape so I bought a 36DD only to find it is so tight that I can't fasten the back, I'm spilling out under the arms and over the back and the cups look like like they are tiny and sitting on the front of my boobs. Waaaah! I know I need to go and get fitted really but there is nowhere nearby and I can't face a 50 mile each way trip to a city for shopping Sad
