Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Always love the chat on this thread. I haven’t ventured back to the main boards in maybe a year, did yesterday and it just put me in a bad mood. So many unhappy people and nasty responses. I think I need to hide AIBU…

Today is new leaf day. I’ve been drifting for weeks, blaming the fact that 7.5 wasn’t working for me (which is true) for just eating shite. So this morning I’m back on nutracheck, and having scrambled eggs with smoked salmon for breakfast. Have some healthy ready meals for dinners (I know, but it’s vastly better than takeout, and it’s what I have the capacity for at the moment), and Aldi chocolate protein puddings in the fridge for when I need the junk kick. We are going on holiday in six weeks, I’m almost but not quite fitting in a lot of nice holiday clothes I have, so I’m aiming to not need to buy anything!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 10/09/2025 09:00

I really like coming here. It feels so safe and comforting!
Thanks @Arglefraster
lovely post 🥰.

The new pen volume surely will take a little while to get into circulation? Why oh why do all these changes come at once. It feels like nudging and nudging in a cruel puppeteering type experiment “Ha ha, how far will these fat people go to loose weight, let’s see how much they are willing to pay for the magic drug”.

Feeling a little low today. Post holiday blues and thinking about where to get future pens from. I’m sorted for 9 weeks now.. but I know time passes quickly.

MooBaggage · 10/09/2025 09:05

@OnwardsDownwards I hear you! Smoked salmon and scrambled/boiled eggs with spinach and a blob of greek yoghurt is my go to lunch at the moment - really filling and very 😇

I usually then have a very quick and easy freezer tea during the week when I have no capacity or inclination to cook - last night I had chicken goujons, which are just posh chicken nuggets, with spinach and low fat mayo. Took 12 mins in the air fryer and one side plate to wash up - sorted 😁

I have been inspired by the slow cooker/soup talk on this thread though, so am going to attempt to buy more veg in next week's shop and some actual meat and give it a go. I can/do cook when I can be bothered, but don't enjoy it, so the CBA kicks in very strongly - but will try! Mainly because 9 months of spinach with everything is becoming slightly tired....

I also have a ton of clothes which almost but don't quite fit - I realise I'm an optimistic buyer on Vinted - everything I buy fits really well about a month after I've bought it...! So am buying winter stuff now 💪

@MooBaggage I did laugh at “spinach with everything”! It’s so true - it’s such an easy go to, and it goes with virtually everything, but it does get boring.

I need to get some more soup recipes. I have a soup cooker, I was a bit unconvinced when I received it as a present but actually it’s brilliant. I just need to find alternatives to my usual go-to recipe which is a block of Stilton, a head of broccoli and a potato!

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/09/2025 09:53

I make up a big box of salad for the fridge and have that with everything. It varies in content based on what happens to be in the fridge/cupboard when I need to fill it up but it’s generally contains some mix of: Little gem lettuce, frozen sweetcorn, chopped up jalepenos, shredded pickled beetroot, sliced peppers, chopped up cherry tomatoes.

I find the longer I’m eating low carb the more I enjoy really strong pickled, spicy, savoury flavours which is handy for salads cos I just have jars of stuff in the cupboard that I can scoop into the box and it adds lots of flavour with very little effort.

Oh a couple of years ago I made a bolognaise soup from a recipe online, it was exactly what it sounds like, all the constituent ingredients in a bolognaise but more liquid than usual, only used a small amount of mince to get the flavour so was low calorie and great with a sprinkle of Parmesan on top and a small amount of croutons.

AnneinEdinburgh · 10/09/2025 13:58

My 2 usual soups are lentil and ham, and a lovely creamy smoked fish chowder with lots of sweetcorn, onions, leeks, and not too many potatoes

dimples76 · 10/09/2025 15:17

I have dug out my slow cooker from the garage but that is as far as my efforts to expand my family meal options has gone. I am feeling pretty nauseous this week so that's not helping me meal plan. I love cooking but don't have much time or energy so have become rather stuck in a rut with my salads.

I do some online Zumba style classes and realised earlier that I now dare to jump - for ages I have just bounced on my toes rather than have both feet off the floor. I am still heavy so I don't think that my NDNs will have appreciated that but I felt so great afterwards. I am enjoying exercising much more than I used to.

Good luck with your walk @MooBaggage. I am sure that you'll be great. At least you won't be as bad as my younger self. I signed up for a charity walk with done colleagues (moonwalk- a marathon) in my mid20s when I was overweight. For some reason I did not train at all for the event or worry about it until I got there. My colleagues were all slimmer and fitter than me but I was determined to keep up. By the time I got back to my apartment building I was wiped out. I lived on the 3rd floor and did not have a lift. I ended up crawling up the stairs

alltablenochairs · 10/09/2025 16:15

I do a lot of gousto boxes. Mainly because the brainpower needed to actually think about, plan, shop, prepare, cook and serve tea is beyond me. Expensive, yes however I do it for the convenience factor as much as anything else. They're very much going through a 'spinach with everything' phase at the moment as well. I've started leaving it out or chopping it finely because there's going to be mutiny in my house if I serve another plate of spinach as-is.

For lunches I'm quite enjoying the cans of Aldi flavoured tuna and some oatcakes. Unfortunately for me my 12 year old also likes the tuna cans so I have to hide them in the cupboard before he snaffles them.

Arglefraster · 11/09/2025 14:15

As far as I'm aware the new pens aren't in circulation yet @MooBaggage(not sure if they're in production) so the ones you have should definitely be 5 dose ones. You're getting so close to bmi 30!

@RobinEllacotStrikeahh it's so good! I always tell my kids that if a book makes you cry it's because the author was able to make you really care about the characters. It's making me laugh more than anything so far - Strike's thoughts about Murphy 🤣although I've never been so disappointed by a storm in my life...
I feel like I'm always playing catch up on this thread hence the long posts!

@OnwardsDownwardshope the new leaf is on track, you've done well to be honest with yourself about where you are. (I've got falling leaves on the brain after being showered with them on this morning's walk!)
This is one of my favourite soups,( I add much more veg & far less coconut cream ) https://realfood.tesco.com/recipes/dhal-soup.html

yes I feel like that too @Reginaphalangeeeeeit does feel a bit "what's next?!" but iirc the pens we have were just a cheap way for them to package using established equipment so it was always likely once the market was clear & then Trump trumped 🙄

NSV this evening! I am freeeezing, so put on my Oodie for the first time in a year and it is HUGE...! Last year it was more like a very big top 🙀 This year, it's a proper ridiculously huge Oodie, which is making me Very Happy 😊

ah Moo I’ve been cold today too. Just home & you’ve reminded me it’s jab day so I need to get out of bed & do that.

NSV This morning when putting in a load of washing I randomly tried my normal sized 17yo daughters jeans on. They only bloody fit!!!! Of course they are low rise so I’m unlikely to ever borrow them but they fit me. I can’t reconcile this with her gorgeous amazing body and mine. I continue to have a strong disconnect between my mind & physical reality.

Arglefraster · 12/09/2025 12:36

Ooh @MooBaggageI've been putting off trying my oodie on because I'm excited to see how different it feels plus once I get it on it won't come off for months🤣

I've just run in to say fuck me I'm wearing a size 18 top! It's not even tight. I got it out of the "one day" drawer & washed it thinking it was one to hang up as a hope/dream/maybe by Christmas.
It seems probable that the size 24 tops are indeed too large to be flattering 🙈

Oh that's amazing Robin hopefully that visual will help your brain catch up with your weightloss!

I have a 17 yr old too but she got the stumpy genes from the Glaswegian side of the family 🤣 she's two inches shorter than me, feet 4 sizes smaller etc so she's never going to have to worry about me stealing her clothes. Shame really as she's got a terrific eye & is really stylish- which she definitely didn't get from me either!

MooBaggage · 12/09/2025 12:45

Loving the small clothes victories! @RobinEllacotStrike this must mean you have an equally gorgeous body - and I bet everyone is thinking it except you! The headfuckery is endless, isn't it - wonder if it ever goes away and we will just think of ourselves as 'ordinary' women?!

@Arglefraster I equally feel victorious every time I put a size 18 anything on and it fits 😀 The vast majority of my 'bottoms' are now size 18 (except for a pair of Joe Browns jeans I just got from Vinted that are size 18 but nowhere near fitting.... 🙄). Tops remain more of a challenge - why oh why won't the boobs just sodding well go...??! But some size 18s and all size 20s are good now - down from the size 26-28 I was starting to have to buy back in December 2024...

I haven't had the courage to order anything in a size 16 yet - have told myself to wait until I weigh 14 stone something (6lb to go) and ideally around 14st 7lb - am guessing in around November time - so hopefully will be in a size 16 something (anything!) by Christmas!

OP posts:
gimmemounjaro · 12/09/2025 12:52

You could order yourself a size 16 Christmas jumper @MooBaggage

RobinEllacotStrike · 12/09/2025 13:18

Both my daughters have my gigantic feet, & both will end up about my height 5'8".

Body image is so funny as I see my daughters having very much my body shape, which when not obese, is quite hourglass but in a well proportioned way.

I think I'm going to need an Oodie or similar and a heated blanket. I'm wearing multiple layers, boots & socks, and a down jacket at my desk in September. It's such an effort to keep warm.

Last year I bought the most perfect Xmas jumper - I will wear it this Xmas but it will be very baggy!

dimples76 · 12/09/2025 15:17

Weigh in today at the gym- 100.1kg - so close! So unless things go terribly wrong next week I should make it under 100kg which would be 30kg lost.

Also a NSV - At work I often have to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to a lecture theatre. I normally pause at the top of the stairwell to get my breath back and try and walk in to the lecture looking composed. Today on the stepper at the gym I climbed 15 floors. Teaching starts in a fortnight- fingers crossed no pausing on the landing this year@

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/09/2025 15:57

Oh god @RobinEllacotStrike don’t mention shoe size. My 11 yo daughter got new school shoes the other week and she’s in size 8 now. I have size 8/9 feet too and had a lifetime of trying to find shoes that fit. If her feet keep growing at this rate I’ll be making her a pair from a door and some rope by the time she turns 15.

RobinEllacotStrike · 12/09/2025 16:19

Oh @InfoSecInTheCity I feel all your pain.
We are 3 females with size 9 / 43 feet here.

Northern European shoe brands are our friends for womens shoes. I can't shop for shoes in Spain/Italy/portugal as they usually stop at 41 for women.

MooBaggage · 12/09/2025 16:58

Literal size 10s extra wide here 🙄 I had to wear boys's shoes through school and still only have a few pairs of shoes (well, no shoes at all - 1 x pair of boots and about 3 x pairs of sandals) because I've been so traumatised by shoe shopping in the past...

My feet have shrunk a bit though since the MJ - I might even get into a size 9 next year...! 😬

Zebracat · 12/09/2025 17:00

I am also a 42 or a 43. The last shoes I bought were gorgeous clogs from Celtic and Co. I bought the 43 after cogitating for months. They are miles too big for me. Sadly, shoes that are too big is not something I’ve experienced before so I didn’t recognise it and wore them outside, only to find myself crippled with blisters. I can’t return them and I can’t wear them. Happy to send them to anyone who can use them.
aarggh actually I’ve remembered I did exactly the same thing last year with a pair of Seasalt loafers, they are a 42, the reviews said they came up big so I was sure they would fit. 🙃 Same things happening with clothes now. No idea that somethings too big unless it actually falls off .

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/09/2025 17:01

@MooBaggageand @RobinEllacotStrike Skechers tend to come up quite big in most styles and we have a Skechers outlet so that’s my go to shop now. I browse the boxes for any in my size and then just try those on. I don’t look at the display shelves because it’s guaranteed that the pair I like won’t be available so I limit my viewing to just the stuff I might actually be able to buy.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 12/09/2025 17:02

Joining the big feet support group - I'm a 43. I went up half a size with each of my pregnancies and did half-hope that they might go back down with my weight loss but it was not to be and I need to re-home the 42s sitting hopefully in my wardrobe. With apologies in advance to your bank balances I highly, HIGHLY recommend Otto and Ivy for really beautiful shoes.

Zebracat · 12/09/2025 17:04

Oh moo, I swear these 2 pairs would fit, altho I may have charity shopped the loafers..
