Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Really enjoying all the coat, blanket and winter food talk.
Enjoying soup right now but my weakness is fresh bread with butter on to go with it. I do add chicken or other meat to protein it up but bread seems essential
still.

I have an electric throw purchased last winter -love it!!

Coat… in the market but have a long sort of warm waterproof one which I bought right in Feb and is now deliciously a loose fit.

I would like to invest in a pricey warm coat but have to prioritise money on MJ right now so I may stick to my last year cheap oversized one. I also have a smart one I kept that I couldn’t fit in the last 5 years which cu Inthink will fit well now hooray.

Celebrating BMI under 35 (34.8) today. I started BMI 46!

CareerChange24 · 08/09/2025 00:07

Thank you ladies for the loose skin reassurance. I will try the body brush, collagen and strength training. But if I get it, I get it. This is my first try at losing weight so I’m following here for tips

GiveMeWordGames · 08/09/2025 07:57

@Sam187 you are looking great in that coat. It looks super cosy, and also co-ordinates very satisfyingly with your bedroom. Have a fab time in Italy! My two favourite winter coats were getting far too tight last year, now they fit nicely with room for a jumper underneath. Also a lovely blue Debenhams trench, which used to be one of my favourites but became too small several years ago, fits again.🥰

Lots of other lovely clothing and activity NSVs from everyone.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I'm currently trying M&S's high protein bagels. They're a bit dense and soft versus proper bagels, but improve once toasted. I've been making a sandwich with chicken or ham but they might also work as a bready thing with veg soup. Also on the topic of soup, BOL's beany stew-soup pots are very nice. I'm not vegan but they're a tasty non-meat based protein hit.

24 weeks, jab/weigh day today. I'm 2.5 lbs down this week, so 13st 8 on the scales this morning. I'm sticking at 7.5 for the next pen. It's still giving fairly consistent results but can feel it becoming slightly harder work. Which is what happened with 5. And because I had to make a decision in August to get old prices I chose one 7.5 and two 10s. I think that was the right decision and in four weeks I'll be more than ready for 10.

UnimaginableWindBird · 08/09/2025 10:10

If you are still in bigger sizes, Vinted is an amazing source of cheap coats. I have a gorgeous boiled wool duffle coat and a tweed coat, and I paid £55 plus postage for both of them, and when I looked up the original prices, the total would have been around £1,000.

Seconding Vinted! I had an absolutely perfect wool coat from Tesco of all places last winter. It's too big for me now but I found it in my new size on Vinted and have re-bought it for this winter.

OnwardsDownwards · 08/09/2025 12:36

On bread - I really like the Warburtons protein thin bagels. They’re tasty, and make portion control easy! Good for soup purposes.

Went up to 10mg yesterday. Feel fine today, though I normally get side effects 24-36 hours after the jab so will see how I feel tonight. Certainly feel like it’s kicking in more than 7.5 was.

dimples76 · 08/09/2025 16:07

I returned to the gym (and the scales) after a 3.5 week hiatus (due to not having childcare). I worried that I might have put weight on as I have not been good over the school hols. However, I have lost 1.3kg so will take that as a win. I have just renewed my gym membership for another 12 months and am seeing my personal trainer tomorrow.

I am getting closer to some milestones. I now weigh 101.5kg having started at 129 so getting closer to 30kg loss and under 100. My starting BMI was 46 and it is now 36 - can't wait to get under 35.

Out of nowhere the sulphur burps have returned today!

Evenstar · 08/09/2025 18:27

Somebody on the price increase thread has received this from Eli Lilly, not good news about the extra dose I’m afraid ☹️

Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!
WeAllHaveWings · 08/09/2025 18:54

Thanks @Evenstar , think we were all hopeful it wasn't, but that I suppose confirms it ☹️

alltablenochairs · 08/09/2025 21:22

Typical. Ordered the coat and with express delivery and its been reasonably sunny here today. Thick cardigan type sunny. However thats the least of my problems right now. I've ordered a pair of shoes to wear to the awards do- only a pair of temu cheapies but I dont walk so no point forking out a small fortune. What they dont do is cover the tan lines on my feet. So its a case of thick tights or fake tanning my feet!

In MJ related news I have reduced my dose from 15mg to 12.5mg this week despite having quite a way to go still. I've been getting some annoying (health) issues recently. Could be the MJ but more likely to be a FML thing. There's also an issue with affordability. Will I continue to lose on 12.5? Will find out this week.

InfoSecInTheCity · 09/09/2025 06:01

A pleasant surprise this morning, 139.6 lb on the scales which puts me under 10 stone, I have never ever seen a 9 at the beginning of my weight before or thought it was even a remote possibility.

HumBumBum · 09/09/2025 08:58

@Evenstardo we know when this new pen is coming out? Might I already have one in the fridge? I bloody hope not!

MooBaggage · 09/09/2025 09:28

No weight loss for me for a week now - but I knew this would happen, having lost 3lbs the week before! But my scales are showing that somehow my fat % has gone down slightly, so I'll take that - and my clothes that were a bit too tight even a couple of weeks ago are now more comfy 😀

Am stressed though, and thought this group will probably be the only people that might understand... I'm staying at my lovely friend's this coming weekend and she's asked me to do a 'fun' 5km walk with her on the Sunday morning, for a charity that's close to her heart - so of course I've said yes.

Ridiculously, I'm really worried about it...! Years (and years) ago, I was running/jogging 5km and even did a 10km once, but since then there have been years and years of not being able to walk 5km (or probably even 1km) without being in pain....

I know in my head I'm pretty much 5 stone down now, much fitter etc., but this is feeling very scary - my friend is teeny tiny and sporty and sprightly and all the things that make 5km seem literally like a walk in the park - which it will be!

Aaaarrrrggghhhh.....

OP posts:
gimmemounjaro · 09/09/2025 09:38

@MooBaggage
I know exactly what you mean.
Can you do a practice in the next day or two, even if not the full 5km, just walk for half an hour or so and see how you feel. You will soon know whether 5km is doable for you, I’m sure it will be and you can stop worrying. If not, perhaps you might be struck down with a touch of plantar fasciitis, a shame not to be able to do the walk but hey ho.
If you do go ahead - do say to your friend - look, I’m not as fit as you remember, so don’t go dashing off!

MooBaggage · 09/09/2025 10:11

@gimmemounjaro thanks 😊

Yes I'm going to walk every day this week to get some practice in. I did about a 3km walk yesterday which was fine - it's silly but I worry I won't have the puff to walk and talk and look like I'm enjoying myself (because I won't be!), but really don't want to be the fat person who's struggling 🙄

OP posts:
Zebracat · 09/09/2025 10:47

I would be scared too, Moo , but you are 5 stone down. I predict that you will absolutely love it and start a new habit. Comfortable shoes and socks, not too many clothes and a water bottle . And if you need to sit down for 5 minutes, just say so.
Under 10 stone @InfoSecInTheCity wow oh wow. I’m so thrilled for you.
I need new jeans. They are just too big. I wanted to wait a bit longer, I’ve got a pair of size 14 trousers that fit but maybe they are bigger than standard. All my other trousers are at least an 18. Might have to try some on, but Im so traumatised by bad experiences in changing rooms, like the time none of the 6 things fitted but I bought 2 anyway because of the shop assistants’ raised eyebrows. Oh God. The horror.

Maybe tell her you’re recovering from a nasty cold / chest infection so will have to take it easy - could be a good explanation for getting puffed. But I’m sure you will be fine!

GiveMeWordGames · 09/09/2025 12:11

I would hope that anything that describes itself as a fun walk, and is for charity, should be a pleasant amble that barely even measures the distance but I would be stressing too, @MooBaggage I think a few practice walks building up to it and getting a sense of where your stamina is are a great idea.

Also, and this may be just me and is obviously idiotic, but I think distances sound less intimidating in miles because the number is lower 😅. So - 3 miles! (roughly)

Evenstar · 09/09/2025 12:53

@HumBumBum I copied that from someone else’s post on the price change thread. I haven’t seen a date, and there will still be old stock in the system I hope 🤞🏻

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/09/2025 18:06

hi everyone- just popped into my GPs & jumped on the scales. It’s my constant scale since starting. I’ve been “sticking” for a few weeks & then started avoiding the scales (old habit. Bad habit)

SW 124kg
CW. 83.6kg

bit of a woosh & well below 85kg now.

over 40kg lost - that’s very nearly a third of my starting weight gone in 13 months.

bmi now 27.6 down from 41 when I started.

it’s really an incredible process.

keep on keeping on everone - this works.

Been experimenting with new styles and colours of clothing. Side by side of this year against last year, Ignore the state of my daughters room, she's the only one with a full length mirror, she also owns all the make up in the whole wide world and keeps it spread across the desk she doesn't use to do homework 😜

Returned from holiday and just trying to catch up with so many posts, but just wanted to say (at the risk of sounding like I'm fangirling!) that the love emoji is not enough; we need a wolf whistle reaction! 🐺😗 That shirt looks fabulous on you Info! Congratulations on your Mounjaroversary! 🎉
Right, as you were folks; back to reading all these wonderful losses & nsv's! ❤️

mince3point14159265 · 09/09/2025 21:11

@MooBaggage I'm sure you'll be fine! You've come so far and 5 stone is a massive amount to not be carrying around. With your friend for company you'll not even notice you're talking walking!
DH is massively into cycling and so bought me an electric road bike some time ago so that I could keep up with him. Whenever we were talking to anyone about the bikes he would tell everyone how much fun it was cycling on my bike with the motor on, particularly when talking about hills. It used to really annoy me because I still found it quite a struggle, even with the assistance, plus the bike is soooo much heavier than any of his bikes. This holiday however, with 70lbs gone like you, that bike WAS fun! I didn't even need to put the motor on much except for the steepest hills. And I was waiting for him at the top of hills for a change. 😂
So do the walk and you may be pleasantly surprised at just how much fitter you feel. 🥰

Arglefraster · 09/09/2025 23:48

@Zebracatoh no nothing you've said just comments on random threads on the board. My month thread are mostly done with weightloss & wearing size 8s & 10s but somehow they don't bother me because they're just so nice 😆 (proof that it's 100% a me problem!)

thanks @alltablenochairs
I had time to go through clothes after I posted so the clown trousers are in the recycling (not even donation worthy) & I've been wearing the smaller version .... and they're maybe a bit big 🙈 but baby steps!! Smaller tops are out of the "pipe dream" drawer & will start cycling them in.
The go-kart sounds amazing! I had two gorgeous walks today there seem to be massive acorns this year 😍

@CareerChange24I think you have time on your side w.r.t. skin in your mid 30s & even if you didn't the health improvements from weightloss must be worth some saggy skin.

I have never braved vinted yet @Slowrunningi have used eBay back when that was where people sold clothes! I'm working though my old/smaller clothes but it's a great tip to look for the same but smaller on vinted - I would never have thought to do that so thank you.

Wow, Amazing year @InfoSecInTheCityyou must be so pleased

@Darlinghagsorry things are tough just now. I really hear you on the "if I could just get this started everything would be better...but I can't" it's such a horrible self blaming pit to get stuck in 💐 sometimes I can trick myself into doing things as a gift to future me (bonkers I know!)
banana bread with dried apricots & mixed spice is the best

BMI under 35 is fantastic @Reginaphalangeeeeewell done! I like to eat cottage cheese in/with my soup

aww @MooBaggageI'm sorry you're worrying I hope it surprises you & you really enjoy walking with your friend.

@RobinEllacotStrike40kg 🎉 (& omg how good is the hallmarked man - no spoilers I'm about 2/3 through!)

my NSV for this week is how big the bath feels 😃 but omg the loose skin belly floats 😳🤣🤣🤣

what's everyone thinking about the new pens? I'm gutted as I've always used the extra dose. I was planning to use my two pens before ordering more but now thinking it might make more sense to keep ordering as the current 5 dose pens are better value & I can use up my spare pens gradually.
depends how long it will be until the new pens are in circulation I suppose & I don't think we have information

MooBaggage · 10/09/2025 07:20

@Arglefraster I hadn't heard about the change in pens, so I'm gutted! I bought disposable needles early on and have been using the 5th dose for ages. Sigh. I'm not sure whether my current or new pen have the reduced amount or not as it's really hard to tell - fingers crossed I got them before the change.

Also, just a warning that Vinted is completely addictive... Once you set your filters, it shows you everything you want to buy - disastrous!! 😬

1lb off for me today - hurrah!

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
10.9.25 CW 15st 5lbs. BMI 32.6

Edging nearer to the 5 stone loss - hopefully by the end of next week - the 5k walk will obviously help 😃

@Arglefrasteri finished The Hallmarked Man last night. Followed by the worst nights sleep I’ve had in a long time. I cried several times reading this book which is very unlike me. Maybe something to do with having my tear ducts flushed through on Monday so they are working again now? Or it’s just a very emotional book?
possibly both.

bring on 9 already 💜

I did correctly guess the “main villain” this time, for first time ever. That didn’t soften any of the other emotional blows though.

now I’m ready for a nice slow reread.

what a lovely post you did name checking everyone. I’m playing catchup (I’ve been avoiding SM for a while due to spoilers) & I’m on my phone so couldn’t do that. But loving the chat on this thread as ever.
