Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

I'm assuming that I will have loose skin, but I've been watching a lot of videos of women who have lost a lot of weight and I've started to actively like the way it looks - it's one of those things like stretch marks and wrinkles that aren't fashionably pretty, but can actually look very nice when with panache. I want to be in the gym, able to do pull-ups, with mysterious, magically stretchy skin.

InfoSecInTheCity · 06/09/2025 18:08

I’ve lost 5 and a half stone but actually 9 and a half stone down from my heaviest weight a few years ago. Yep have lots of loose skin, it’s fine. I wear sleeves to just above elbows, don’t wear crop tops and my shorts are still pretty short but long enough to cover the very tops of my inner thighs.

@Slowrunning I’ve listed a load of dresses on Popsy, currently being spammed by all the inane queries that people could answer themselves by reading the description or looking at the pictures 😩

alltablenochairs · 06/09/2025 18:30

@CareerChange24 I'm 35kg down at the moment but still have probably that to go again. I'm also older than you as well.

Yeah, I have a bit of wrinkly skin but this is mainly on the top of my arms, stomach, bum or top of thighs. None of these areas are on public sight. As for DH we have been married 18 years so probably long past caring what each other looks like in the nudd!

Sone of the others take collagen powder which is supposed to help- I dont because I dont fancy the idea of meat or marine-based products. Each to their own though.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 06/09/2025 18:38

Re blankets, I love Heatholders fleece blankets. Especially in the large size. I have one up stairs and one downstairs. I have others that are perfectly ok, but when it’s proper cold, everyone wants to share my lovely thick one.

dimples76 · 06/09/2025 20:27

Sometimes this lovely thread is not good for me - I have now decided that I must need a heated throw too!

Slowrunning · 06/09/2025 20:38

@InfoSecInTheCity

I just put everything on for low amounts so things seem to sell without questions as people are getting a bargain.
I would have taken them all to the charity shop in any case so at least this way I get some money in the pot to buy newer stuff.

I am planning to have a capsule wardrobe when at goal with just a minimum amount of nicer pieces.

Ps your pictures are amazing.

InfoSecInTheCity · 06/09/2025 20:54

Just realised I forgot to do my 1 year anniversary summary yesterday so doing it today.

Starting weight 218lb, BMI 33, Size 22/24
Current weight 140lb, BMI 21.3, Size 10/12

1 year ago I was:

  • newly diagnosed as diabetic, taking insulin twice a day and metformin 4 times a day
  • Newley diagnosed with high cholesterol and started on Statins
  • Had high blood pressure and was being threatened with medication

Today

  • Doabetes is in remission, insulin and metformin have been stopped and the Mounjaro is keeping my sugar levels in the normal range
  • Still on statins but cholesterol has been reducing consistently
  • Blood pressure is normal

I previously huffed and puffed going up the stairs, now I can jog (in a very uncoordinated looking way but I try) 5k, spend 30 mins on the rowing machine at least twice a week, do squats and arm exercises with dumbbells while the Tassimo is brewing my latte, and I can play on the equipment at the park with my daughter.

I am really excited to be going to the US in a few weeks, a slightly strange feeling because usually I’d be dreading the seatbelt on the plane and having to try to look smart while feeling dumpy. Instead I’m eagerly anticipating seeing people I haven’t seen in over a year and showing off my new work wardrobe feeling confident and powerful. Last years work trip in June 2024 was actually the thing that pushed me over the edge. I was ill, I’d been feeling ill for months, but by the time I got there I’d been travelling for 15 hours on a couple of hours sleep and I felt terrible. Several days of bad food, not enough rest and then yet more travel to get home meant by the time I was home my legs and feet were seriously swollen and I felt like I could barely think or move. It took weeks to recover to just feeling as bad as I did before the trip. That’s what prompted me to finally go to the Drs and discover I was officially falling apart. This year will be completely different!

gimmemounjaro · 07/09/2025 08:47

Weigh day for me today, after 4 weeks of maintenance.

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 154.9 / 11st 1 / BMI 22.9
GW: remain in 150s

It felt like this week has been very up and down, but looking back I have been 153.8 - 156 which is fine and well within the Zone of Acceptability! Maybe it’s because I haven’t felt quite so controlled, I don’t know. Plus I think it will take me a while to get away from feelings of disappointment / panic with every tiny gain. I’m supposed to be maintaining, so fluctuations are inevitable!

Reduced to 7mg this week and I think I will use my next pen (10mg) to take me gradually down to 6.5mg. I need to start being a bit more present than I have been, it’s been relatively easy to make good choices on MJ but now I need to practise doing that with a bit less support. I have to say maintenance is so boring compared to the rollercoaster of trying to lose! I should probably start trying to accept this as the new normal, and embrace other interests in my life!

MooBaggage · 07/09/2025 08:52

Brilliant updates and losses - happy anniversary @InfoSecInTheCity and would you mind re-posting your weight chart at some point as I can't find the blank version and it was so helpful to me when I was starting out, it might be useful to others, as we've got some newcomers? Thanks 😍

Re: loose skin - I've lost very nearly 5 stone and have got some loose skin, but not loads (yet - another 3 stone to go for me!). I definitely recommend buying some handweights and introducing strength stuff right from the beginning. I'm also a '10 squats while the coffee is being made' person, and do 10 - 15 mins a few times a week in the evenings while watching telly and it has made a massive difference to my fitness and body shape.

I haven't weighed for a few days - am away this weekend so will assess the damage tomorrow!

I missed the chat about warm coats yesterday, I‘m hoping to get one of those duvet coats this year (have previously never fitted into them), I tried my beloved Ilse Jacobsen on (fleece lined waterproof) and it’s now big enough for me to wear several fleeces underneath so I think that’s what I’ll do until I can afford a super-warm replacement. I’m not near enough to target weight to justify a big purchase just yet - unless a Vinted bargain comes along!

Darlinghag · 07/09/2025 13:47

Hi all. Some fantastic pictures and losses, well done everyone.

I skipped weigh in last week as I have still been in a funky headspace and I just wasn’t tracking. I did lose, but a miniscule amount.

I have been back tracking the last week, and over the last two weeks I have lost 2.1lbs. This makes me 13st 0.3lbs. And very close to a total loss of 8stone from my highest weight (but something like 5stone 9lbs since starting MJ in August 2024.

I am now firmly a size 16, wearing size 16 jeans, which is my measure of being ‘truly’ in a size - no stretch! I am at odds with my body though. I suspected, earlier in the MJ journey, that I might have lipodema. This is very clear to me now, I have excess fat in my upper legs that clearly is not normal fat and sits at odds with the rest of my body. I also have some in my upper arms, although it’s less prominent and more likely to pass as excess skin/bingo wings. Something I will have to look at in the future. I’m not adverse to surgery etc for lose skin and lipodema, I just don’t have the funds for that any time soon.

My mood has been rubbish for the last 3/4 weeks, mostly because things at work are a bit stressful and lots of things have started going wrong with my house, which has put my financials in disarray. The MJ price hike also threw me into such panic - the idea of everything going shitty and then not being able to maintain the main thing that is going well in my life felt very overwhelming. I have enough to keep me going awhile and I do have a sense of determination that I need to prioritise MJ over other ‘fripperies’ - it has to be my first thing after bills/bare essentials!

I think part of the low mood is also down to the fact some of things can be helped if I take ownership and just get on with things, get some control back and I am finding it hard to get the motivation to do so. I can only describe it as akin to pulling teeth - ADHD!!!

So apologies, I have just dumped my inner monologue on this page!! I am sure things will improve very soon.

In more food/weightloss discussion:

  • Due to keeping my food bills as low as possible, I am giving Aldi and Lidl a proper whirl for my food shop - I quite enjoy it! I am trying to get myself on a schedule of just one Tesco shop a month of the branded stuff I can’t do without and I am going to review the bank statements after a couple of months to see the difference!
  • I am fully invested in the ‘ber’ months vibes. Soups have been a fave meal lately and I have got the soup maker out! They help for high suppression days and making meals cheaply.
  • For the autumn vibes, I have also been stewing fruit with spices and using it on porridge and yoghurt - really yum!!
  • Doing my best to keep out of the low calorie replacements are always best mindset. I’ve switched all my dairy to full fat, like yoghurt and cottage cheese (bar milk, semi skimmed is my genuine preference!) and reverting back to things like maple syrup or honey for sweetness on stuff. I’ve really struggled to get out of the habit of UPF foods for snacks, but I think going this route has definitely helped lower my overall consumption, sort of focusing on getting calcium, protein etc.
  • Been enjoying making banana bread to have as my evening sweet bit with tea, getting rid of my food waste and eating something with less junk in it! I might try and experiment with other versions of it. I make it in the air fryer too, keeping my oven costs at bay!!

If anyone has their favourite slow cooker recipes, I’d love to hear them! I love barbecue flavours and things that tend to err on tomatoey and sweeter and don’t like gravy or cheesy sauces. I tend to buy chicken (whole or breasts), chicken sausages, turkey, beef mince or beef chunks as meat each shop - I don’t eat lamb, most fish or pork.

And here ends my mammoth update - happy Sunday :)

WeAllHaveWings · 07/09/2025 13:51

Size 14 jeans fecking fit! 🤯😲🫢🫨😱

When dh and I moved in together in 1994 I was a 16, never been lower since.

Bought two pairs of these tiny (to me!) jeans in indigo and black 3 weeks ago and there was no way were they fastening. Only lost 3lbs since then but something has changed/redistributed, they are very snug, but I didn't need to lie down to zip them up. 🤣

Going out tonight for a family meal so need to decide what to eat from the delicious looking menu and whether I show off in my slim 14s or stick to the 16s to give some eating breathing room! 🤣

Zebracat · 07/09/2025 13:59

Congrats on the size 14sThey might stop you overeating? But they also might stop you eating?

Amarajean · 07/09/2025 15:15

Happy one year anniversary @InfoSecInTheCity ,you've done amazing!
I've still got 28kg to lose so I'm hoping to have reached my goal by Christmas. I've not been to the gym with having pneumonia so I'm slightly worried I'm going to gain more than I'd like 2-3kg doesn't bother me but any more and I think I might 😢,
Anyway, onwards and downwards.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/09/2025 15:19

@Darlinghag my current favourite in the slow cooker is:

  • 400g chicken breast
  • pack of sliced mushrooms
  • pack of sliced red onion
  • bag of frozen sliced mixed peppers
  • good squeeze of tomato puree
  • 2 sachets Nando’s peri-peri seasoning or Rub Me Nashville Hot chicken seasoning.

stick on high for 3 hours or low for the day, then I put it on the hob for 10 minutes to evaporate off the liquid and while that’s doing I take out the chicken breasts and shred them up then put them back in.

Its great on top of salad hot or cold, or I’ve been having it heated up and mixed in with a packet of cauliflower & brocolli rice.

Evenstar · 07/09/2025 15:44

I had a small loss taking me down to dead on 100kg this week, so want to see a 9 at the beginning.

I went to my black tie party last night and had two NSV’s I was able to dance (including starting a conga line!) and I looked at a gap between two chairs and realised I could fit through it and I did!

I’m sure it’s been asked to death. But I have a lot to lose and I’m not young enough that my skin will just bounce back. I’m 35. Six stone to lose. Feel I can do it with mounjaro. But will I be left with loads of loose skin? I’m literally sick and petrified thinking I’ve forever ruined my body

35 is pretty young. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm 42 and I've lost ten stone. I have some crepey skin at the tops of my arms and thighs, and my stomach is wrinkly. It is definitely improving with time as I maintain the loss. I keep my protein intake high, take daily collagen, and use a dry body brush when I remember. It is really not that bad at all. Losing slowly and consistently and not yo-yo-ing will help.

Darlinghag · 07/09/2025 16:49

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity that sounds yum! Do you add liquid at all?

And I am catching up on the coat talk!! My rain coat is a size 22 and becoming unreasonably large! Do Seasalt run true to size? They have some decent deals on their ebay outlet!!

I have a Janelle, I think it’s true to size, maybe a bit generous. Has tabs you can use to bring the waist in a bit. Mine is a 24, I’m now a 20 and it’s definitely big on me, but I’ll keep it this winter for being able to layer a hoodie under for seriously cold days.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/09/2025 17:36

@Darlinghag no liquid at all. The thing with the slow cooker compared to oven or hob cooking is that all the liquid from the meat and veg stays in the pot, none of it at all can evaporate off, that’s why I stick it on the hob for the final 10 mins if I want something drier. It’s fine with a casserole and I’ll often put a tin of tomatoes in that but for something like shredded chicken I don’t want a lot of sauce,

Darlinghag · 07/09/2025 20:24

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity I will try that later in the week!

And thanks @OnwardsDownwards on coats - I have spotted a couple on the eBay outlet that I may buy - even second hand on Vinted they are pretty pricey and I can return via the outlet if it doesn’t fit. I do need to monitor spending, so I am going to keep at my little Vinted selling pile - currently about £20 away from getting enough to cover the cost of the coat. I could do with a couple more items for my wardrobe, mainly work friendly tops and both a winter coat and a rain coat, but I am going to try and make it a cost neutral activity where I can! Otherwise, I am going to make do!!

Sam187 · 07/09/2025 20:53

Hey all, hope you've all had a lovely weekend. Some fab pics and NSVs all round.

I'm W14D6 but moved my jab forward to this evening as I'm off to Italy a week tomorrow and wanted to bring it forward a day without risking it directly before I went.

So far so good, 15.1kg down. Realistically the same amount to go again, but we move. My goal was 2.5stone by holiday, so I'm 1.5lbs away from that - pray for a good week ☺️.

NSV for me today, and fitting in the coat topic... I bought a winter coat in March on vinted, a mountain warehouse one, and I was really disappointed when it arrived as it didn't close, it didn't even nearly close, there was probably around 3-4 inches apart. Decided to try it on today with all the jacket chat, and not only did it close, but I closed with a hoody under 🎉. It put a little smile on my face today.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I would love your code. My supplier charged me £279 for 10 mg in August!
@alltablenochairs another slightly left field coat suggestion- I have a Baleno riding coat, totally waterproof with a detatchable fleece lining, beautifully made and designed to be worn sitting down. I don’t ride, bought it for dog walking. And I feel quite stylish in it. Photo isn’t of mine but you could browse the range, you often find good reductions.
I've lost 1.4 kilos this week , feeling good about that.

@ZebracatI have PM’d you my code. Good luck!!!
