Hi all. Some fantastic pictures and losses, well done everyone.
I skipped weigh in last week as I have still been in a funky headspace and I just wasn’t tracking. I did lose, but a miniscule amount.
I have been back tracking the last week, and over the last two weeks I have lost 2.1lbs. This makes me 13st 0.3lbs. And very close to a total loss of 8stone from my highest weight (but something like 5stone 9lbs since starting MJ in August 2024.
I am now firmly a size 16, wearing size 16 jeans, which is my measure of being ‘truly’ in a size - no stretch! I am at odds with my body though. I suspected, earlier in the MJ journey, that I might have lipodema. This is very clear to me now, I have excess fat in my upper legs that clearly is not normal fat and sits at odds with the rest of my body. I also have some in my upper arms, although it’s less prominent and more likely to pass as excess skin/bingo wings. Something I will have to look at in the future. I’m not adverse to surgery etc for lose skin and lipodema, I just don’t have the funds for that any time soon.
My mood has been rubbish for the last 3/4 weeks, mostly because things at work are a bit stressful and lots of things have started going wrong with my house, which has put my financials in disarray. The MJ price hike also threw me into such panic - the idea of everything going shitty and then not being able to maintain the main thing that is going well in my life felt very overwhelming. I have enough to keep me going awhile and I do have a sense of determination that I need to prioritise MJ over other ‘fripperies’ - it has to be my first thing after bills/bare essentials!
I think part of the low mood is also down to the fact some of things can be helped if I take ownership and just get on with things, get some control back and I am finding it hard to get the motivation to do so. I can only describe it as akin to pulling teeth - ADHD!!!
So apologies, I have just dumped my inner monologue on this page!! I am sure things will improve very soon.
In more food/weightloss discussion:
- Due to keeping my food bills as low as possible, I am giving Aldi and Lidl a proper whirl for my food shop - I quite enjoy it! I am trying to get myself on a schedule of just one Tesco shop a month of the branded stuff I can’t do without and I am going to review the bank statements after a couple of months to see the difference!
- I am fully invested in the ‘ber’ months vibes. Soups have been a fave meal lately and I have got the soup maker out! They help for high suppression days and making meals cheaply.
- For the autumn vibes, I have also been stewing fruit with spices and using it on porridge and yoghurt - really yum!!
- Doing my best to keep out of the low calorie replacements are always best mindset. I’ve switched all my dairy to full fat, like yoghurt and cottage cheese (bar milk, semi skimmed is my genuine preference!) and reverting back to things like maple syrup or honey for sweetness on stuff. I’ve really struggled to get out of the habit of UPF foods for snacks, but I think going this route has definitely helped lower my overall consumption, sort of focusing on getting calcium, protein etc.
- Been enjoying making banana bread to have as my evening sweet bit with tea, getting rid of my food waste and eating something with less junk in it! I might try and experiment with other versions of it. I make it in the air fryer too, keeping my oven costs at bay!!
If anyone has their favourite slow cooker recipes, I’d love to hear them! I love barbecue flavours and things that tend to err on tomatoey and sweeter and don’t like gravy or cheesy sauces. I tend to buy chicken (whole or breasts), chicken sausages, turkey, beef mince or beef chunks as meat each shop - I don’t eat lamb, most fish or pork.
And here ends my mammoth update - happy Sunday :)
