Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

@InfoSecInTheCity that outfit looks amazing (I think we have the same daughter :) )

I am in my London office today (very rare visit) and I am wearing jeans & a blouse, and the blouse is tucked into my jeans. Not only do I look great the world didn't end and there is no one pointing & laughing.

I do need to buy a belt that fits though - or get my fav Elvis & Kresse firehose belt adjusted - they will resize it for £10 & I need to do it now as its unwearable

@OnwardsDownwardssimilar here. Away for a long weekend and ate and drank lots more than usual, but had a small loss. I was not expecting it. I think sometimes mixing it up a bit might boost your metabolism.

i’m tantalising close to 2.5stone loss. Should be there next week and then I’ll hit my midway point to target weight, and under 13st all at the same time. I’m probably only a few weeks till I’ll be in the overweight and not obese range. Feeling really positive with it as I can see I’m getting so much smaller and the dress sizes are starting to drop down. I find that a big motivator.

I did a big clear out of my wardrobe yesterday as lots of clothes are getting too big. I also found lots of tops that I haven’t worn in ages fit nicely now but feel like they won’t fit for too long so better get my wear out of them. when I drop another size I’ll have to do some proper shopping as I have nothing that will fit so saving my pennies till then and mostly making do for now (did buy one pair of jeans but I was on holiday).

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/09/2025 17:02

Thank you for the complements on the outfit, I’m really pleased with the top, got it from a Next outlet store for £20, it’s a sample piece so bought it on faith and just hoped it would fit. The trousers are going back because they’re not quite the right fit but I do like the look, so trying to find a pair of straight leg non-polyester trousers and I think a pencil skirt. I have a big important work trip in October which will include such highlights as a dinner with The Board so need to look professional and capable. Plus most of the people I know last saw me a few years ago when I was about 20st and a size 24/26 so it will be fun to be half that when I see them again.

Some great losses happening this week and good NSVs too!

QueenOfHiraeth · 03/09/2025 17:45

You are all doing so well! I'm sure we all feel, individually, that we are crawling along very slowly but seeing other people making progress is inspiring and make us, well makes me anyway, realise what we are all achieving.

I am just going through my wardrobe again and building up another pile to sell. I'm trying to resist buying more for now until I know what my new size and style will be.

@RobinEllacotStrike I have the red firehose handbag from the same company! It's lovely and very practical but rather heavy...
I bought a set of 3 belts at TKMaxx recently, can't remember the make but cheap enough as an interim solution

No idea how or why I posted twice there - sorry!

Evenstar · 03/09/2025 18:24

Sort of an NSV, went to pick my altered dress up today and it’s now loose round the ribs 😩 it’s fitting a lot better round the neckline and shoulders where it’s been altered.

I haven’t even lost any more weight since my fitting. but my shape seems to change regularly even without losing any more.

Amarajean · 03/09/2025 19:11

Thanks @MooBaggage and @MabelSpan for the kind words! Yes I'm back home now thankfully, got discharged last night.
It was scary as I just thought I had a bit of a cough, but started to become really breathless,I feel fine now though.
I gave in and bought some knickers ,also from Asda, size 16 as well which is a little nsv-!!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 03/09/2025 20:00

Hi all, just catching up. @InfoSecInTheCity you look so great!!!

I have just returned from a week all inclusive holiday.
Gosh there has been more meals, deserts and cocktail this week than the last 7 months the put together!!!
The damage is in and it’s 2kg. I’m not too worried, I know I can shed that with sensible eating and kinda feel like it is ok, because I know what I did and got bored of it so was ready to get back on a better path. I know I don’t want to eat like that all the time. I get more worried when trying hard to loose and nothing happens rather than inevitable gains.

Anyway, waiting for the replacement of my missing MJ pen. I need to stick with MJ given another 4 stone to loose so don’t plan to move on to Wegovy yet.

NSV: pictures on holiday, I don’t hate the ones of me. I can see and have registered my slimmer build. Yes I still look overweight but I don’t think I look like a massive person. The air plane seatbelt fastened easily with inches to spare where last year I breathed in and tugged tight to get it done up without an extender (so fearful I would need it).

so overall I am in a good place, but an uncertain one. I know I am staying in MJ, but not sure who with or how much it will cost longer term.

MooBaggage · 03/09/2025 20:09

Glad you had a good holiday @Reginaphalangeeeee and you'll definitely get rid of the weight gain - easy peasy!

I feel the same way as you've described right now - I'm much more OK with photos of myself and can see that I'm now just a big woman, rather than someone who's excessively fat - and I already love it 😊

Bit freaked out about the thought of then becoming a small(er) woman as my lowest ever weight in previous years has been about a stone lower than I am now and I'm intending to lose 3 more stone - but the only way to know how it will feel is to do it!

alltablenochairs · 03/09/2025 20:36

@InfoSecInTheCity my teenage daughters bedroom is just vile. There's no other way to describe it. We've come to an agreement though- she keeps her door closed and I wont moan about the mess. However if she wants a new supply of contact lenses then she has to hoover the floor, put her clothes away, bring washing down and remove all the rubbish. I've been waiting a while now......

@MooBaggage I am also finding that I am OK about photos of myself. I've got a really lovely picture of my son and myself on the beach that I would have never allowed DH to take a year ago. Ignore the woolly blanket- its a beach in Scotland! I'm also coming tantalisingly close to the lightest I have been in almost 16 years (94kg).

Like others here I am also finding joy in clothes that I would have never worn before. I think I was around a size 24-26 before and I am currently a 16-18 depending on the clothes. I tend to wear a lot of leggings and elasticated trousers so hoping these will still fit for a while yet. I've also got a red hot killer dress for an awards do coming up. Not only does it actually fit me (its a size 16) but a year ago I would have never worn anything like it. Not in a million years.

MooBaggage · 03/09/2025 21:54

@alltablenochairs what a lovely photo! And I love that finally we might be in photos rather than us taking photos and never being in them...

And hurrah that the killer dress fits!!! That is brilliant news 😍

Congratulations on all your losses everyone!
I got back from a 2 week holiday in France at the weekend, and managed to stay exactly the same weight - some kind of miracle, given that I didn't exactly stick to the plan while we were away. To say I am chuffed is an understatement.
I think the weight loss helped me to enjoy my holiday more - i even went go-karting and played laser tag, which i would not have even considered a year ago.
Ive still got a lot of weight to lose, but I really feel it is achievable with MJ.
SW 111.1kg
CW 97.3kg

CreepingCrone · 04/09/2025 16:40

Oh my actual WTF! Disappointed to have lost a whole1lb this week (14st exactly) ... but.... I've squeezed myself into M&S UK14 jeans!!!! I cannot believe it!!
They aren't very comfortable but I shall be wearing them for the rest of the day in celebration 😁

Carolwithane · 04/09/2025 16:56

Congratulations on all the victories scale and otherwise 👏

I finally broke through the 3 stone barrier! Weighed myself at the gym this morning and I've lost 3 stone 2 lbs. Yippee

Taken since the 14th January but I don't care, I can't go higher than 3.75mg and have no supression so I'm over the moon

I am so proud of myself, I have never stuck to anything this long and have failed more than most people have tried.

Less than half way there but absolutely delighted 😀

Onwards and downwards

Lots of great achievements happening 💪

Has anyone had a new pen since the price increase? Just wondering whether the rumoured new ones without the extra dose are in circulation yet.

I still suspect it may take a while for those to come through, if they do.
There's a guy on TikTok who said he kept getting comments saying the size was reduced but, whenever he asked them to send a photo, they didn't so he asked everyone who got one this week to check them and they are all the same as normal. Mine certainly is, dispensed 2nd Sept although charged at old price

dimples76 · 04/09/2025 20:33

Congratulations on all the losses.

I have struggled over the school hols and have eaten more, drank less water and exercised less. However, DD returned to school yesterday and DS today so it's time to recommit. Seeing my personal trainer tomorrow and determined to up the water and cut back on the overindulges.

I have 2 pens (7.5) at the moment but when they're done I am planning to switch to Wegovy as I am about 40% of the way to a healthy weight and I just can't afford the new prices. Really hoping that it works well for me.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 05/09/2025 07:42

🎉🎉🎉 I’m officially half way and now into the 12’s. I should be out of the obese category in 2-3 weeks. Firmly into size 16’s in all shops now (some brands are significantly smaller than others).

I’ve just realised if I lost 1kg a week I would be at target weight for Christmas. Whilst I have been averaging that I do expect things to slow down but I do feel optimistic that I’ll be getting close by the end of the year. I’m fine if it goes into next year, it’s just such a nice feeling to be confident that I will actually get to my target weight.

I’m really curious as to what dress size I’ll be at target. I’m hoping it will be a 12, I can’t really even imagine the possibility of being a size 10 as I haven’t been that size since I was a teenager.

Appikate · 05/09/2025 13:28

I am looking to start using the golden dose. What needles are people using and where do you get them from? I aw somewhere that smaller than 8mm should be better but I'm not sure which I should get. Any help would be welcomed

AnneinEdinburgh · 05/09/2025 17:04

I have just had a first order from Curate, and I am very impressed, They did a very thorough video call and then a couple of days later a pharmacist called to check that all medical conditions were covered, that I should look out for low blood pressure and that I knew that MJ could have an effect on oral HRT and to speak to my GP about it.

@Sam187 I'm using Nutrition Geeks Biotin (and collagen and creatine!). I've definitely noticed a difference to my hair loss since starting on the Biotin ptobably about a month ago - took a few weeks but I've just re-ordered it because I think it's that that's made the difference.

I treated myself to a multipack that includes biotin and collagen powder and then added an extra one on.

Ordered yesterday and it arrived this morning. The biotin tablets are tiny and I added the recommended dose of one level tbsp in my black coffee. Couldn’t taste it at all and it completely dissolved. Fingers crossed it helps reduce my hair loss.

still stalling on my weight loss but my body shape is still changing despite this. I am on holiday and have eaten out a lot and had a glass or two of wine. On the plus side, I’m getting my steps in. Hopefully that will balance it out a little. 🤞

I've been using NG biotin and collagen the last couple of days, hoping for much of the same. Hair loss has really ramped up the last couple of weeks. Also taking magnesium and vit D3/K2 as well. Here's too the boosted hair, health and immunity 🎉.

Recommendations time- help needed!

Does anyone have any suggestions about a super warm, super windproof and super delugeproof winter coat. As in Scottish west coast weather proof. IYKYK.
I've previously had a didriksons but the zip's a bit dodgy and its also 5 sizes too big now thanks to MJ. When I brought it it was probably too small for me bit it was also the biggest size they did😳
No puffa or down type jackets though- due to the way my chair's designed to fit me they end up compressing down and being pretty useless. Or shall I just take the hit and shell out for another one like what I had???

Autumn's here and quelle surprise I'm freezing again. Or more to the point freezing a bit more than usual. This is the only MJ side effect that actually bothers me grrrrrrr. Someone recommended a heated throw last year- for those who have them where did you get yours from and would you recommend it again?

In return recommendation wise for staying warm I would highly recommend my baavet duvet. Weighs a ton though and I cant change the duvet cover on my own (I do have a SK duvet though) but does the job. I would also recommend a cat or two for perfect lap-warming purposes. Just wish mine would shut up and stop making a right racket purring so I can go to sleep!

OnwardsDownwards · 06/09/2025 05:30

@alltablenochairs I don’t think you’re going to find many that are better than Didricksons! I have a Seasalt coat, I do really rate it but my friend has a Didricksons and it’s definitely higher quality.

A heated throw is amazing. My mum got me one for Christmas a couple of years ago, when I manage to wrestle it away from the kids and the cat I love it. Brilliant for working from home, so I don’t have to heat the whole house all the time. It’s a “dreamland heated luxury throw” from John Lewis, but I know there are lots of them around.
