Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Happy weekend luxury death jabbers.

How are you all? Just recovered some hearing in my left ear after that massive klaxon for @caplin and @lovealongbath 🎊 Congratulations both of you!!

totally agree @iwantniceclothes - any deviation from my self-imposed weighloss timeline would have me in a panic, doubting myself and inevitably lead to a massive binge (because what was the point). Now I have this quiet confidence that if the scales are not showing exactly what I want/expect, I just need to wait a few days and watch my portion sizes/up my water intake. No panic no drama. It's amazing.

Well, apart from this week that is 🙈 Can someone please make me a sign that says: if you're feeling paranoid, shit at your job, unloved, bloated, want to eat lots and the way your husband stirs his coffee makes you murderous....you're about to get your period.

Anyway. No weight loss for me this week (see above) but I have realised I need to start replacing some Winter clothes. Tried a couple of jumpers on this morning and they were massive!

😂 I'm almost out of business now, but my warning signs used to be randomly walking into door frames and and feeling stabby rage at anyone queueing badly in a supermarket. Thoughts and prayers.

I'm just back from birthday noodles and wine at a friend's house and she finally knows The Expensive Death Jab secret now and was super supportive. I've not been keeping it quiet for any reason than I didn't want to make a big 'guys, I'm going to be sooo thin soon' announcement. She mentioned that I was looking svelte though so I agreed with her. Using the still obese but a lot less obese meaning of svelte.

LindtCurves · 14/09/2025 09:07

Happy Sunday, fellow death jabbers!

Slightly off topic but... Has anyone else experienced
a) being treated vastly differently as a skinny person
b) the medicine having any effects on other addictive behaviours

Let's start with b. There's been talk about the jab potetially helping with things like smoking or gambling. I don't have an issue with either, but generally I feel I have much better self control. E.g. I have no desire to be on my phone endlessly and waste time. Or binge watch tv. And I am super productive at work and full of ideas.

I might hear people say things like 'oh this food/activity is so irresistible, I can't stop' and I really can't relate... Has anyone else noticed anything like this? I just feel like I have self control and discipline to a degree I've not had in years, almost like I have been unplugged from the matrix.

To point a... It's strange considering my age, as people keep saying 20s are your best years etc. It's a lie :) Sometimes I honestly feel like I've been reborn as Margot Robbie.

Now that I'm a size 8, and perhaps making a little more effort with fashion, people just seem to fall over themselves to fawn on me... Shop assistants at the snootiest shops like Prada pretty much follow me around and bring things out of back rooms. Ropes are lifted, queues are skipped. Very desirable men are persistantly messaging me and asking to spend time with me, reacting to anything I may post on social media, constantly trying to make conversation etc...

I'm sure some of you are having a similar experience?

And is it kind of depressing that while people were probably still nice enough when we were bigger, society seems to lose their mind when someone has 'the perfect body'? I honestly did not thing this was still a thing in this body positivity era, but it really seems to be.

I'm not sure how to feel about it all.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 14/09/2025 09:32

Deffo point A. Having gone from size 20, practically a 22 I shudder with horror, down to almost a size 12 I have noticed a big change in attitudes.

At M&S yesterday, where there is 20% off with Sparks, I rummaged through the corduroy trousers to find a short size 12 as 14 was starting to feel roomy, and a lady (much better put together than me) said they never stock enough our size. She was looking for a 10 but together we found a pair each of bitter chocolate cords that met requirements. OMG I feel as though I am entering a new club.

My BiL mentioned how great I now looked recently at a family wedding. I was stunned.

I think the average female clothes size in the UK is 16 so I am below average 😂 but size 8 puts you into model category @LindtCurves

DarkForces · 14/09/2025 09:36

I wouldn't step foot in Prada @LindtCurves and have been married for a million years so not having quite the same experience but people who have known me fat are delighted for me and compliment my new look and confidence. I think that's the difference really. I feel so much better and it shines through. I am living my second youth and dressing in stuff just because I like it. I think it's making us all glow and that's a beautiful thing people are attracted to.

eta: I am size 10-12 rather than 8, but I'm only planning to lose another 2-3 lb and I'm happy with this size.

I also am nearly out the other end of menstruating, but at one stage I used to put a note in my diary that said "Don't make any important decisions this week" in the week before my period because I was so sensitive and furious at that time of the month. The rule was that if I still felt the same way once my period came I could act on it, but I never did!

Mounjaropen · 14/09/2025 09:43

Good morning friends in my phone! It’s been an eventful couple of days in which I wondered if I’d accidentally pissed on a witch…Firstly, I had a pigeon stuck up a chimney in my house. The mess was horrendous and made even worse by a visit from a chimney sweep to dislodge the bloody thing. Then I was caught in torrential rain yesterday wearing my new lace trousers going to a posh lunch (bargain, £60 in the Albaray sale and they were a size 8!) where DH and I intended to spend a generous wedding gift voucher from friends… only to sit down at the lunch (sort of place where you have to give credit card details to make the booking so you can’t cancel) and realise that I hadn’t brought the voucher with me 😭

On the upside, no further weight gain as I start my second 5mg pen on the winding down process. I’m stuck at 134lbs which is 2 lbs up on my lowest weight but I did have a boozy week last week which I don’t intend to repeat this week.

Keep going y’all!

I'm 10st 8lbs as of this morning, down from 16st 4lbs. I have a couple of size 14 dresses that are now a bit loose, but I'm not quite ready for a size 12 yet - I have never owned anything that small. I did buy a black denim jumpsuit in a size 14 that arrived yesterday (the purchase of which is entirely the fault of this thread!), and when I tried it on the involuntary noise that came out of my mouth was an actual squee. Of delight, since it looks fucking fabulous! I didn't know anyone could squee in real life, it always seemed a horribly twee invented term designed to infantilise adult women. But a squee it was.

Great news no weight gain though.

I’m still fighting off the tonsillitis and our hot water cylinder is still not fixed (unimpressed is not the word, apparently it’ll be done on Weds) (thinking of retraining as a plumber at this point).

I’ve definitely noticed A. It’s a weird feeling isn’t it. Makes me a bit sad really. And it isn’t just because we feel and therefore look happier, I found it yesterday whilst trundling around Sainsbury’s feeling poo (unless illness becomes me 🤭).

B - I’ve been dreadful at overusing my phone lately and drinking too much rose over the summer so I don’t think it’s helped me in that respect. Unfortunately!

Well I know I have an addictive personality… I am a modest flutterer on some of the gaming sites. I set a limit of £20 on 4 and enjoy pissing about on them. I also have a £20 limit per month on scratch cards. Last month I won £100 on one. That was pretty unusual though. MJ has not affected that. Drinking wise it has been revolutionary though. On Thursday I had a solitary glass of wine when DH was away for the night, and didn’t have any more because that was the end of the bottle - previously I’d have opened another bottle. I definitely have more energy but I don’t necessarily think I’m more productive. I can definitely exert more self control over food though I agree.

Shops wise, I’ve always been a prolific shopper and I do (in the words of Edward in Pretty Woman expect large amounts of sucking up 😂) so I’ve not really noticed much change. It’s nice to be able to look at things other than accessories though.

I’m not looking for love at the moment but I’d imagine it must be lovely to receive unexpected messages from potential beaus 🥰

Height 5ft 1
SW 14st (when I started MJ, but my heaviest was 14st 5)
CW 11st 6.4
SBMI 37
CBMI 30.3
GW 9st 3 which is the lightest I have been as an adult and will take me to a BMI of 23.8.

Initially I thought 9st13 would be ok. I am fairly big boned for a shorty.

Was size 16-18 now 14. I0-12 seems possible without being unsustainable. Size M tops in Uniqulo down from XL! Still need L on the bottom though.

So losing less than a lb a week but if I keep going I should hit goal in May which seems plenty long enough to be on this for me. On 10mg for last couple of months and doubt I will go higher. MJ has enabled consistency in weight loss so although slow, I can live with that.

I started couch to 10k before hols and got to week 7. Started again and at week 4 now. So much easier to run with less weight although I was running 10ks at 12.5 stone it wasn't great for my knees.

Blood pressure has come right down too and cholesterol is no longer high side of normal.

DH has been really supportive and says the cost doesn't bother him. I have been paying £160 a pen for a while and taking the 5th dose and hope to move to a local independent pharmacy that says they have plenty of stocks at old prices for my next pen. i may have to pay at the new higher prices for last few months but I hope to move down doses which will help. Otherwise I would consider switching to Wegovy.

Well done everyone on the losses. Hoping I can sound a 3stone klaxon by the end of October!

@Goldleafcat @DarkForces @TheSlimmingPumpkin @Mounjaropen thanks for your comments!

Well. I didn't previously go into Prada. At the moment they pretty much insist I enter! It's very very strange because I remember Italy last summer. I had a decent budget for a handbag, and shop assistants basically fobbed me off. I wonder if they have actual guidance to fawn over a particular kind of customer.

The confidence and feeling better in yourself certainly plays a part. Tbf my nearest and dearest are being a little strange, both DM and Ex say I've taken the weight loss too far.

But with the men, I'm just in 2 minds. Would they be so persistant if I was bigger?

There was a guy I dated for a bit when I was obese and he messed me about a lot. Now he is falling over himself to spend time with me and telling me how beautiful I look. I'm sure body size has nothing to do with this sudden change of attitude 😂

As you say, it's a bit sad. We tell young girls body size doesn't matter, whereas our experiences show that it clearly very much gives you a leg up.

Interesting what you say about addictive personality. Seen a lot of similar articles, so maybe that's why I feel this might be happening to me: https://www.politico.eu/article/ozempic-drugs-study-research-mounjaro-alcohol-addiction/#:~:text=Weight%2Dloss%20and%20diabetes%20drugs,of%20drug%20or%20alcohol%20overdoses.

Can Ozempic help drug addicts, too? A mega new study suggests it might.

Analysis of patient records suggests there could be some benefits, but more research is needed.

Article - Dr Giles Yeo - an obesity expert. Hopefully the cut and paste works.

A doctor has shared the three main things people ask him when he discusses weight loss and drugs. Dr Giles Yeo MBE, who is a leading geneticist and professor at the University of Cambridge, is set to take part in a free interactive talk about how new drugs are altering our outlook on obesity.
The expert has appeared on 'Trust Me, I'm A Doctor', The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett and Jay Shetty's podcast. He has also written books on weight loss including Gene Eating: The Story Of Human Appetite and Why Calories Don't Count and hosts his own podcast, 'Dr Giles Yeo Chews The Fat'.
Now, he'll take part in a talk, which is one of several free British Science Festival events, at 2.30pm today (September 13) at The Black-E.

Ahead of the event, Giles shared the three things that people ask when he talks about these drugs.

The first is: ‘Should we treat obesity?’ I think that’s a silly question. Should we treat high blood pressure? We never ask those questions. I think obesity is a disease. So yes, I think it should be treated.

The second thing is people say is that ‘these drugs are a short cut’ and ‘they don’t treat the route cause of obesity.’ A short cut - what does it mean? What these drugs do is change one or two hormone levels in your body.
"By changing one or two, depending on what drug you’re taking, suddenly you feel fuller, then you eat less and you lose weight. These drugs don’t mean you eat what you want and then make you puke it up. "There’s nothing weird about it. So you can almost consider that these drugs, some people with obesity have a hormonal deficiency that these drugs are fixing. So I don’t think it’s a short cut, I think we’re fixing a deficiency.
"It is true that these drugs do not prevent obesity. They treat obesity. Prevention of obesity still requires us to improve our diets. We need education in schools.
"We need government policies around advertisements, all that stuff. Drugs tend to be designed to treat disease, rather than prevent disease. So use a hammer for a nail, and a screw driver for a screw. We need policies to prevent obesity. But the drugs will help some people with obesity.

Number three - 'if you stop the drug the weight will come back on' - yes. This is absolutely true because as with most drugs the moment you stop taking it, the effects wear off. So high blood pressure, for example. Most of us know someone on high blood pressure medication. When you take the drug, your blood pressure is normalised.
"But when you stop, your blood pressure is now abnormal again. The same thing is going to be true for your weight. It takes a longer time obviously because it’s weight. So the likelihood is that many people who start and are on these drugs will have to be on these drugs for a pretty long time."

I've not been keeping it quiet for any reason than I didn't want to make a big 'guys, I'm going to be sooo thin soon' announcement. She mentioned that I was looking svelte though so I agreed with her. Using the still obese but a lot less obese meaning of svelte.

I had to go onto HRT as I had the fear my stabby thoughts might actually become reality 😱 Plus I grew up with a mother who refused to acknowledge she needed significant help during hers and that made for an extremely miserable household for pretty much all of my formative years. I did not want to put my family through that.

Well done @MsRumpole 💪🏻 I start Couch to 5k course this week. I am a bit nervous but looking forward to it. I have regularly done 10k steps so hopefully that is good training.

Good luck! 💪🏻

@lovealongbath 4 stone! Woo Hoo, congratulations! Whether tortoise, snail or hare, getting there your own way is the best way to do it.

Yes @MsRumpole I know just what you mean. It's such a turnaround to find I can eat small amounts and be satisfied, or even leave food on my plate as I don't want/need any more. Just like 'normal people'.

We had a picnic on a beach today. The plan was not what I would have chosen, ie to pop into a sandwich shop on the way there. Even worse, I don't eat bread because I'm allergic to wheat. Got there & Not a salad bowl in sight, just lovely organic posh sandwiches, pork pies and sausage rolls! So I bought 2 large sandwiches and only ate the fillings! Shame to waste the bread, but needs must. That amount would never have kept me from being hungry in the past, but it was perfect.

Hurrah for a whoosh @Iwantniceclothes , well done on holding strong and being persistent despite hitting a sticking point. Maybe you its time for you to change your user name to 'I have nice clothes'!

Yup, we've all been there @SerenePeer complete mood swipe and feeling bleh to find out its just PMT. Hope you now feel on top of the world, loved & awesome, no one needs to hide all the knives any more and the family can come out of hiding!

While we were on the beach DD took a photo of me. For the first time ever I didn't think to say 'no, please don't'. She showed me the photo and I look slim! It's still a surprise each time.

Take all of the photos. As some one who recently had to organise many parental funerals, your kids will find comfort from each and every one 💐
