Welcome to thread lucky number 13!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Amazing isn’t it? I just don’t feel the need to buy biscuits, cakes or crisps anymore

I could never have just one or two biscuits like normal people pre-MJ

MsRumpole · 08/09/2025 09:35

Does anyone else really struggle with the response that any thread about obesity or WLIs gets elsewhere on this site?

Woman who explains that her obesity was triggered by by the death of her child being told that it was because she ate too much. Belated follow up response afterwards "I'm so sorry for the death of your child"

I do my best to ignore the Judging Jealous Julies. It doesn’t matter what we say so I now don’t care what they say. Most of their comments are not backed by research and are just spiteful tittle tattle they have picked up from social media

Only if you have been obese and struggled can you really understand the challenges of turning to and using WLIs.

@Mounjaropen I looked again at my BMR and the different activity multipliers again this weekend after your helpful advice to a newbie MJ user who has looked in on the thread.

As a short 62 yo, it’s both amazing and VERY scary just how little fuel I actually need to keep a pulse!! BMR is 1263 so with light exercise, minus 3500 across a week for about 1lb loss, daily calories are just over 1200. The basic maths show just how easy it was to be 6 stone overweight..and much booze related either directly or indirectly with a cheeky 10pm cheese and biscuits mountain. Now shifted 5 stone 9 from summer 2022 and 4 stone 5 since MJ last November. Still hoping for my delayed Oushk delivery on Friday 🙏🙏🙏

Have a good week everyone 😊

Absolutely! I am the same being a shorty! Not surprising that the weight piled on given how few calories I actually needed but my brain and stomach clearly convinced me I needed more! I couldn’t have lost 5 stone with MJ and I still have another stone and a bit to go.

SerenePeer · 08/09/2025 11:56

I think you've nailed it @Pumpkinforever - people who have never experienced years of trying to lose weight the way the skinny influencers tell us to do (aka calories in vs calories out) have no idea what it's like. And that lived experience as an overweight person too. I made the mistake of commenting on an Instagram post slamming Serena Williams (the post was, not me) and the judgement in the comments was unreal against anyone who dares stick up for Serena.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 08/09/2025 14:22

@BobberleeBeaner yes, spreading out the doses means I need to actually remember to do it when it is due, as it is not on the same day every week anymore.
I make a note in my diary and also set a reminder on my iPhone, so far so good!
Having always done a Wednesday, to make sure the weekend was well covered by MJ effects, I am a little nervous of this weekend, which will be days 8&9, and we are away for the weekend. However that is 'normal life', and deploying self control, alongside the assistance of MJ has to be my way forwards.

I have also realised that 'maintaining' at 16+ stone is very different from now maintaining at 11ish stone.
I have not counted calories during this process, but I am very aware that I am eating much less, and drinking SO much less, in order to maintain now, compared to last year's 16+stone body.
However, I do not feel deprived & there is no FOMO, as there would have been in days gone by. I am just loving my new healthy slimmer body.
I hope that is what also keeps me on the straight and narrow. (As well as the MJ)

I think we all have experiences where a total lack of understanding has taken our breath away.
Many years ago, 5 year old DS and DH were both in different ITU's, in different hospitals, for completely different reasons. I asked my MIL if she could look after eldest DS after school one day as it was the only day my own mother couldn't be there. When I went to collect him from my MIL, she took one look at me and said 'most people lose weight when stressed, not gain weight!'
What is doubly shocking is that her first question was not 'how is my dangerously ill son or grandson', but she chose instead to openly criticise someone who was at their most stressed and vulnerable.

Mounjaropen · 08/09/2025 17:03

A couple of articles which caught my eye over the weekend which someone may find interesting- I've linked them via the remove paywall site so you should be able to read them. The first shows an impressive improvement in a turkey neck... the second an interesting article about supplements in the Times by Peta Bee who writes specifically about this sort of thing plus women's fitness.

Which supplements should you really take? The experts’ guide

We’re taking more vitamins and minerals than ever. Peta Bee asks nutrition experts which are actually worth taking — and what to avoid

Well you were certainly brave posting on that..! Mind you, it's no wonder that we have the current unrest in the nation If it is the case when you can't have an alternative viewpoint without someone jumping on you for having the 'wrong' thoughts....

Morning skinny minnies in my phone. Having a bit of a wobble this week. I had a very munchy weekend despite my extra large (by mistake) MJ dose last Sunday. I wonder if it was my body trying to recalibrate after eating about 500 calories a day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because I was so scared of side effects? I even bought a bag of sweets on Saturday (chocolate caramels) and ate the lot. I've not done that since last October! I think I'm at another set point too. I remember being this weight before my wedding and being shocked and delighted when I finally dipped below it.

So I guess I just need to give myself a shake. Lock in my steps, water and nutrition and stop looking for excuses.

It didn't help when I saw my mum at the weekend either. She told me I was fading away and I made some joke about not realising how fat I'd become. She then told me that it was when she was about to hit 12 stone that she decided enough was enough and went on a diet 🤯 Oh mother, if I only I'd stopped at 12 stone and not waited for another 3 stone to pile on! Jeez, 12 stone was my first goal weight!!

Aww perfectly normal I’d say. I think a lot of us got really massive without wanting to know just how much we weighed… It wasn’t until I did the our future health program that I was prepared to admit just how fat I’d become. Most people when I say I’ve lost 4 1/2 stone so things like ‘wow I didn’t realise you had that much to lose!’ Well yes, but that’s what years of hiding under kaftan dresses will do for you isn’t it?

I think the key difference here is that you are very self-aware about what happened at the weekend and you acknowledge that that is not a normal sized portion of chocolate! Yes,you’ve had a wobble, but then you haven’t followed up the whole bag of chocolate caramels with a family sized bag of crisps, two cream horns from the bakers and washed the whole lot down with most a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc 😂

Back to basics and keep going missus! 💪

PS Mum‘s really can bore off about weight can’t they? They absolutely know what they’re saying…😉

Not posted in ages but I'm 2lb off 5 stone loss now - intg chats above about how we gained the weight etc. I comfort ate and didn't weigh, total denial. Anyway I've just upped to nearly 11mg this weekend and I spent the entire night on the toilet and have had to ring in sick. Slowly went up from 10mg as have done with all doses but here we are 😕. Just when we think we have it sussed!

Seems unreal - don't 'feel' like I've lost so much cos didn't accept how big I was! Yes could be bug but the constant sulphur burps are making me think MJ

The Internet certainly makes it easier to jump on people! I have a suspicion a lot of the worst perpetrators are motivated more by knowing you have a vulnerability about something they can successfully kick at, far more than it actually being that they are thin, successfully losing weight without injections, envious you can afford it, or anything else.

A lovely NSV this weekend - I got a gorgeous 70s-style denim jumpsuit off Vinted and I’ve been wearing it around feeling like I’ve escaped from Charlie’s Angels. 😁

I also got a denim jumpsuit on vinted this weekend but can't decide if mine is more mechanic than stylish! Love a jumpsuit

I love the idea of you as one of Charlies Angel's @RayonSunrise
I had to dress up for a serious meeting recently; before I would have felt like Miss Piggy trying to emulate Margaret Thatcher. This time I felt like Miss Moneypenny from James Bond!
It was a real joy to see the expression on the faces of the other people there, as they hadn't seen me for over 6 months. Their faces had brief expressions of 'Holy Wow!' Very satisfying.

I just can't get on with jumpsuits @RayonSunrise - always more mechanic on me!

But I'm here for Miss Moneypenny serving sass @magnoliatreepetals 💥

It’s me 🎃PumpkinForever 🎃, ringer of klaxons 🔔📣 - I mucked up my account in swopping emails. 🙄

so I have decided to be TheSlimmingPumpkin as I am 5 stone lighter than when I started. Probably more of a squash now rather than a pumpkin😆

Anyway

  • being a shorty a jumpsuit definitely puts me in the mechanic group
  • I used to watch Charlie’s Angels back in the day
  • Not sure if I can nail the Ms MoneyPenny look either, maybe the tea trolley lady
  • selling on Vinted in my new gym fix. Each time something sells it gives me a great excuse to get my 10k steps in by walking into town. So anything size 16 and above is fair game and I now have lots of space in my wardrobe.
  • I will need a new Rab winter coat but I am going to wait and see what size I end up as if I lose another stone.
JasonTindallsTan · 09/09/2025 22:40

Hi all, just a quick wave from me as I’ve not been on the threads for a while, I’m still plodding on, been lucky enough to have a few holidays and that’s messed up my MJ schedule and my eating so I’m only a few pounds down from where I was at the beginning of the summer and still only 3.5 stone off in total (despite having looooads to lose). My BMI is down from 43.1 to 33.4 though which seems amazing and I am sooooo much fitter. Definitely have noticed what a op above said about having a lot less calories to play with to even just maintain.

My hair loss continues to be a huge problem and if not for the fact that I had mountains of the stuff to begin with I’d probs be halfway to bald by now. I went to the GP as had other symptoms such as fatigue and brain fog etc that I thought along with the hair loss could be peri related (42) so thought it wise to rule stuff out/in whilst continuing to address my protein intake. Turns out I’ve got hardly any B12 and am super deficient, apparently it can be affected by the likes of metformin which is another diabetic drug and obviously diet can be a cause as well so not totally sure if MJ has contributed but I’m hoping to feel like a new woman once I start the loading dose of 6 jabs over a fortnight 🤞🏻🤞🏻

How lovely to hear from you! I was only wondering how you were getting on the other day, along with a couple of other November starters.

Glad you got the B12 deficiency diagnosed - hopefully that’ll improve your hair loss and fatigue. You might feel ‘only a few pounds off’ since the start of the Summer, but I’d wager a world of difference to this time last year! Keep going 💪

I’ve got massive norks so always steered clear of jumpsuits as it looked like I was smuggling melons and the resulting strain on the top meant i left nothing to the imagination in the camel toe department 😂 And I’d always wanted to be a Charlie’s Angel too 😭

I need to get selling on Vinted, but I’m a natural hoarder/pessimist so I need to shake that feeling. Plus I want to fund that neck lift procedure (£950) I linked to up thread 😂
