Welcome to thread lucky number 13!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I've had a bit of a weird week. Firstly, having taken the same 7.5mg maintenance dose on Sunday that I've been on for 12 weeks now, same time, same way, I had a really nauseous day on Monday - worst yet on MJ. No other odd things going on to suggest sickness bug or something. Still a bit funny on Tuesday, OK yesterday although super hungry (had done lots of exercise though) and today hungry too. Feels like everything is having a funny wobble, but we'll see what happens next week.

Couple of lovely NSVs though:

Had a blood test as part of annual hypertension review and lots of stats, particularly cholesterol, much improved since before MJ. Now below statins level. Red blood cells looking a bit low which mirrors low haemoglobin picked up when last went to give blood, so I might need to start supplementing iron.

Treated myself to a new Garmin watch for my birthday and since my exercise is up again. It's now collected enough data to tell me my fitness age is 49 - 4yrs younger than I actually am - soooo happy with that. It has set me a target of getting to 46 and BMI 21.8 which is where I set my target before - welcome extra encouragement to stick where I am.

Sorry to hear that you’re feeling under the weather! But those health improvements are fantastic aren’t they? Congratulations 🥳

I think I’m correct in saying that iron is more easily absorbed if you take with vitamin C at the same time? And don’t forget to make sure that your fibre intake is sufficient as it does have the added side-effect of constipation.😩

🥳🥳🥳 welcome to the 9’s! It’s not Disneyland that’s the happiest place on earth, it’s here 😂

….but this summer, Disneyland was my happiest place 😂. I could fit on rides, breathe when that horrible lap bar came down and walk around all day and not be a sweaty old mess!!!! I could sit on the ‘sidewalk’ on Main Street waiting for the parade and not require agricultural vehicles to get me back up 🤣. I had to fashion a small cushion though…bony derrière needed some comfort support.

Well done everyone who has found or is finding their own happy place. We ALL deserve this 🥳🥳🥳🥳

My Oushk order HAS turned up today, despite the “we’ve run out of 7.5mg” message I got from them at the start of the week. Phew! Not going cold turkey this week after all. 😅

😂 have you ever read the post on a classic thread where it was ‘embarrassing things you’ve done’ and a poster admitted that once at the dentist when the dentist had his finger in her mouth he said ’ suction’ and she thought he was talking to her so she sucked his finger. She said she didn’t know who was more surprised 😂😂😂 still makes me laugh now.

Omg.

Mounjaropen · 27/08/2025 16:24

Well that all sounds positive in terms of your health benefits. If you are at a size you are comfortable with, and clothes look and feel nice, I'd agree it is time to taper down. The toning of your tummy and knee areas will come with consistent exercising - but there is no exercise programme that can tackle or improve one specific area - the body will only lose where it wants to lose.

Not eating enough nutrients is a major issue though, you don't want to give yourself other health issues. And it is good that you recognise this isn't an ideal scenario.

Keep going!

Thanks and sorry for late reply, busy week watching beautiful sunsets 😂

I'm toned all over as I work out very consistently, it's just that I have excess fat in these areas, while other areas no longer have much fat. So the age old 'everyone has a 6pack, mine is just under a layer of fat' problem 😁It's tempting to keep going on Mounjaro til all the fat disappears, and abs come out, as my weight isn't that low.

However... I recognise that this is not what the drug is designed for.

Interestingly, I am on the higher end of BMI, 23.5-24. However, I am currently in Italy shopping in places that notoriously run small, and I am size XS here. I remember being a teen girl and so traumatised by Italian sizing as I couldn't get into L-jeans. In Wolford, the shop assistant went 'no, sorry, you should try XS but that might still run big'.

So I'm possibly smaller than I think/ my weight number shows. I'm probably just in a place where I want to look like a beachwear model, and that's not what the drug is for.

I also recognise that eating an egg and then nothing at all some of the days due to no hunger isn't ideal either.

I feel great and healthy, my skin, hair, nails are all in a really good place, probably better than ever, as when I do eat, it's very healthy foods, lots of fruit, veg, protein. Mental and physical health excellent overall. However I recognise I've maybe pushed it too far into eating very little without intending to.

Is there anyone else on the thread that barely eats most of the time?

It's just weird functioning very well both mentally and physically without hardly any calories going in.

RayonSunrise · 04/09/2025 20:53

Fingers crossed for you @BobberleeBeaner. I was getting pretty narked at them coming into this week.

That dentist story is brilliant. I have genuinely chortled out loud.

Caplin · 05/09/2025 00:03

So I was at a dinner tonight, and a woman who hadn’t seen me for a bit came up and commented on my weight loss and said ‘you’re not on that mounjaro are you’. To be fair she is someone who is likely ASD with no filter, ur I do not know her well. On the basis I have only told a handful of people I said no, I’ve just had more time since I went freelance last year.

I realise at this stage, as of today I have lost 5 st in just under a year. Anyone with half a brain cell will assume MJ (rightly so). But until I admit it to my mum, I am staying super private! That said my husband has been telling people Willy Nily! I actually don’t care too much what assumptions people make, I just can’t be bothered with the naysayers conversations!

Well I’m not jealous at all of you enjoying beautiful Italian sunsets 😂 I do hope you are having a lovely time with a glass of something lovelier!

I think at the start I was eating too few calories because I was genuinely bemused as to how far I could push my body without much fuel going in, but I do regret that because I don’t think I gave my skin enough time to catch up. I also enjoyed the lack of tummy rumbling. But, as time has gone on, my body has grumbled if I haven’t eaten enough and I’m listening to it. My BMI is 21.7 and my body fat is 25% but I don’t have a 6 pack either and I don’t think losing any more weight will reveal it - it’s a matter of weights/ toning and eating well I think for the next year to see where I end up.

I’m definitely smaller than I think in shops too and it is tricky to get my head around that - but I’m not going to give Davina McCall a run for her money in a bikini any time soon either 😂

Having had the dilemma a few weeks ago about whether to continue to lose in order to try and get rid of the persistent roll on my lower abdomen, I decided to stop and switch to maintaining as I did not want to lose any more from my face or boobs!
Since then I have been focussing on exercises every morning that I have borrowed from yoga/pilates and I have already noticed my tummy toning up more.
I have to be quite careful as the 'wrong' exercise causes my hip to flare up (very dodgy hip following some childhood trauma), and the traditional core exercises like planks etc give me instant nasty reflux.
So Im pleased to have found a moderate, albeit probably quite slow, way of helping tone up a bit more.

Off now for a swim which always helps me physically as well as mentally.

It's Friday, and it's stopped raining Down South! I hope you all have a happy weekend!

Pumpkinforever · 05/09/2025 10:07

Just back from an all inclusive cruise holiday. Plus 3lbs this morning but I am going to shift that in the next week with exercise and not stuffing my face. I wasn’t the thinnest on the cruise but I was way off being the chunkiest. The airline seatbelt had lots of extra slack and I didn’t mind sitting in the middle given there was 5 stone less of me. But I had to stop myself saying to some that they should consider WLI as I genuinely feel so much better in myself.

Funny in that the first thing I did coming back was to weigh myself which is something I would never have done pre-MJ. And I know I will shift it quickly before getting onto the stone and a half I still have to move. I had a great time and just don’t feel guilty about the food at all.

DarkForces · 05/09/2025 10:15

I'm now 3lb off my goal weight and starting to think about how to stabilise rather than continue to lose. I've lost 1lb in the last week so well on track for my maintenance call where I plan to ask about switching to Wegovy. I may start at the bottom again and see where I land to maintain at my goal

I use the more time to exercise and take care of myself whenever I have been ‘challenged’. I then add something about my blood pressure improving blah blah blah.

A good plan. I don’t think all pharmacies will force you to start at the bottom but I will want to go down to lowest dose possible when my time comes

Fuck a duck, that's a pound back on, which wasn't the plan! Onwards and downwards though - I might just need to be a bit more focused while I'm on 2.5.
Poo test two came back negative for IBD, so I'll see what this week's GP visit brings.

I said this week that I'm hardly losing any weight anymore, but I've actually lost 8st in 8 weeks, which I think is a really healthy losing pace.

@Mounjaropen Not going to lie, Italy as a slim person is a different experience. I met with my male accountant over lunch and he told me in great detail the efforts he makes to stay slim, thinking I would be able to relate - I doubt he would have had this conversation with the obese me! Is it that slim people tell each other secrets about how they stay slim, and lie to everyone else? 😂

For me, actually, the appetite disappeared gradually, i.e. first few months I had 3 meals a day, just smaller portions, and lost 2-4st a week, but 10 months in and I'm able to get to the evening without eating anything or feeling hungry. I'm currently 'off the meds', so 2 weeks since last injection, and still no appetite.

The only difference I feel that I don't have the energy to lift heavy weights when I've not eaten, therefore I force myself to eat pasta etc in the 24h before training sessions.

When I was bigger, I used to think I looked about a size 12, and now that I am an Italian XS, apparently, I think I look about a size 12. Body dysmorphia is a funny thing!

And Bond St is also my happy place... 💃

However, as I've said, I think my body has stayed broadly the same throughout the summer, there is no real health benefit in losing more weight, and I need to get more nutrients in. I have 1x 7.5 pen left, so think I'll use it to drop down to 5mg and see what happens. I understand about the expiry dates but I don't think it'll affect things that much.

I'll probably buy a 2.5mg pen to keep back in case I need meds at any point in the winter if weight starts creeping up.

I also have room to up my step count, as my regime is a high protein, low carb diet and lifting heavy weights, but not much cardio. I found that cardio made me drop a pound a day, and found that too much. So if I feel the need to regulate my weight further off the meds, upping stepcount and doing more dancing should do the trick.

I am mostly keen to start eating a little more though, and seeing how my body handles that.

To misquote Peter Kay - 8 stone in 8 weeks! 😱

Sorry I guessed it was 8lbs in 8 weeks. Which is awesome. An XS is also amazing!

I totally had body dysmorphia. Interesting about the lack of appetite. How are you feeling about that? Definitely focus on the nutritional food.

So just to clarify as a bit of a newbie (4 weeks in). Some of you are definitely saying that many days you didn’t eat more than 500kcals just because you could t or forgot?
Absolutely NO judgement, I’m just trying to understand how some of this works - eg I’ve really been pushing myself to hit my 1200 kcal a day and eat decently when really sometimes I didn’t want to eat much at all.
Should I on those days not worry so much and just eat less and therefore actually lose weight rather than it being a slog and very slow losing? Be honest, not what people want you to say about being healthy blah blah 😂

Welcome!

I think some people struggle to physically eat when either starting or going up a dose. I haven’t forced myself to eat but I do exercise 5 days a week so I think my calorie intake is in line with that. You need to focus on nutrition- so getting at least 1g of good protein per kg of body weight rather than hitting a blanket calorie intake. Your body will tell you what it needs - and what it doesn’t want you to eat..

MJ isn’t a magic bullet but an aide. I haven’t felt like it is a slog, but I have worked hard at getting 62lbs off. You’ll need to create a 3500 calories deficit over a week to lose a lb so check what your BMR actually is before adding in exercise calories. Mine is 1340 so at 1200 calories and no exercise or movement of any description I’d create a deficit of 980 (so 0.28 of a lb) over a week before exercise calories. So I definitely wouldn’t encourage disordered eating but understand your own metabolism and then go from there..Everyone is different in what they need. Good luck!
