Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Well I have had a bit of disaster because the two pens I ordered were supposed to arrive yesterday but didn't get delivered as we were out (my fault not Royal Mail's). They have said they will redeliver next working day which of course is Tuesday.

So assuming that Oushk send them out on the Friday they will have been out of the fridge for four days... I guess the ice pack will keep them cool for some of that and they usually arrive very cold, but clearly will be at room temperature for some of that time, but not above 30 degrees.

I did have a bit of a panic as 2 x 10mg pens would be awful to throw away, but having read up on it it seems that they should be ok if kept in the fridge from when I get them, and worst case would drop in effectiveness. I'll be using them within the next 3 months just have to finish my current pen, so it's not close to the expiry date.

But if I've got this completely wrong please let me know... I know they say they should be kept cold before they are first used.

Sounds like you had great fun and I am so glad you dressed up, even if no one else did.
Now I am 5 stone slimmer I love planning what to wear, it really adds to the fun. Before I would be dreading it, and wondering if anything would fit and how could I hide my body.
We are going out for a birthday lunch today and I am wearing my new SIZE 14 dress from Aspigia. Hurrah for end of season sales and hurrah for WLI's.😁💃

Yes! It makes such a massive difference chosing an outfit not just to hide my stomach! And wearing thin spaghetti straps for the first time since I was 23 was an absolute vibe! Hope you enjoyed taking your Aspigia dress out to lunch!

PinkArt · 24/08/2025 11:47

Ah the anxiety when you realise no-one else has followed what you thought was a very obvious dress code! Years back I also observed a 20s dress code, for afternoon tea for a hen do. I could have cried as I approached the venue and saw that no-one else had 😭
Love that you just embraced it. It shall channel my inner @SerenePeer next time I'm over dressed!

Better to be over dressed than under dressed I say! 💃

SerenePeer · 24/08/2025 19:00

@Mounjaropen so are we concluding from our experience that rose and prosecco are interchangeable? 😜

@oceangrey I had a similar situation with my last Oushk order. My pen was meant to arrive on the Friday by Royal Mail but some weird glitch had switched the delivery method to DPD who are notoriously unreliable in my area. The courier didn't deliver the pen until Monday, so I emailed Oushk to let them know and that I was worried my pen wouldn't be cold. This was what they emailed me:

"Our packaging does provide coolness protection for 48 - 72 hours and therefore, should still be ok when it arrives.

If the pen has reached room temperature when it arrives, it can still be used within 30 days. Please check the liquid inside the pen is clear and then pop it in the fridge."

Fingers crossed for you.

SerenePeer · 24/08/2025 19:08

Serena Williams. Wow. What a kerfuffle! The body positive brigade are losing their minds. Seems it was okay to admire her when she was a muscly, chunky tennis star. But now she's admitted to using a GLP-1 to feel more like her old self post babies and mid-life weight gain, she's to be shamed and vilified.

RayonSunrise · 24/08/2025 20:17

I saw that story, too. And it immediately made me think of one of my kids, who got really into rowing for a while but hit a ceiling because he just couldn’t pile muscle on like some of his team mates. He was super fit, tall, muscular - but just not packing the power on despite religiously trying to put away 4000 calories a day.

Serena Williams was a very, very powerful player. She - in common with elite rowers - has a body type that was able to pack muscle on. And it made her a champion many times over! But like a lot of elite power athletes, as she’s aged and stopped playing at that level her body - so efficient at packing on muscle - has found it hard to readjust to having to eat a lot less. (Look at Matthew Pinset these days vs his Olympic training state - he’s a classic example.)

It drives me mad that she’s getting a hard time over this. Being able to put muscle on as a world class athlete is a double edged sword for men and women! I sure can’t blame her for needing a bit of help adjusting to civilian weight management.

Thanks very much. I suspect they will have reached room temperature but will probably take my chances on using them even if after 30 days! They can't possibly 'go off' immediately after the 30 day mark but I understand why they have the rule and wouldn't usually break it!

evilharpy · 24/08/2025 22:06

The Serena Williams thing is ridiculous. I'm glad she's speaking out about it. Maybe it will make a few people realise that there's an actual need for these drugs, and "eat less move more" is bollocks.

In other news I seem to have got too small for all my bloody jeans again which is very annoying. I really don't want to buy more! I'm really not trying to lose any more but the difference between jeans fitting and being too baggy seems to be only a few pounds, and ill fitting jeans just look frumpy and sad.

Novjaro · 24/08/2025 22:26

PinkArt · 24/08/2025 00:06

I went to a doctor when I was 17 or 18 about my periods, because the combination of heavy bleeding and low blood pressure was seeing me regularly almost faint at my Saturday job in a busy coffee shop. 'Wiggle your toes' was the extent of his help. Dude, teenage me and the nice first aider lady have worked out more than that between us!
And now I'm wondering if it could have been fibroids all that time and if they could also be a reason my tummy has always been a bit bloated. Knowing they can effect fertility could I have avoided being on the pill!

🤦‍♀️ How utterly ridiculous. Mine made me throw up occasionally as it was so painful. Bloody nightmare. Literally! And we all know if it was a man thing they would’ve found a cure years ago… 🙄

Hope you sail through the next three months and can officially say goodbye to all that shit!

Novjaro · 24/08/2025 22:29

Mounjaropen · 24/08/2025 10:32

I think this is the issue for a lot of women - not knowing how much pain is normal or abnormal. I used to faint from the pain in my teenage years and suffered in silence (let’s just say I did not have a mother who was in any way sympathetic) when my own DD was suffering the same I did my best to ensure she had appropriate treatment and adequate pain relief ( mefenamic acid was prescribed for her and made a huge difference in management) so you have my absolute sympathies.

Similar here re my mum, it just isn’t something that would ever have been mentioned either. At least things seem to be progressing a bit for the next generation (ha - I can’t believe I just said that, like an old person!) and your DD is lucky to have such an understanding mum 💕.

Thank you. If nothing else I'm looking forwards to saying a big fat no when doctors keep telling me I'm too young whenever I mention peri symptoms! Maybe if I was in my early to mid 20s, but in my early to mid 40s, come on guys.

jay55 · 25/08/2025 06:57

@PinkArti think doctors who dismiss heavy or painful periods should be made to wear one of those period pain simulators for a morning, whilst wearing a soaked pad. Every time they dismiss a woman with platitudes and paracetamol.

Due to changing weather predictions , I treated myself to a designer hoodie for my holiday. Knew the size was a gamble as the posher brands run smaller than my usual shop choices. It arrived, I thought that will never fit and put it to the side.
When packing yesterday I tried it on, it fit, no problem. Was just my perception of what will fit that was off. Delighted.
Have also got clothes from Jigsaw and All Saints packed, places I’ve never been able to shop in before, unless it was for bags and socks.

Scales still stubborn and I’m past caring, my holiday clothes fit and look good. I’ll come up with a plan when I’m back (I don’t go for a week yet).

Had a lovely breakfast out on Saturday which kept me going most the day and lunch out yesterday, alas no rose for me.

Mounjaropen · 25/08/2025 07:33

Morning everyone! Sorry to be that person, but can someone post what they use to extract the golden dose from their pen please? I think it was posted upthread but I can’t seem to find it. I’d like the same gauge and length of needle sent with the kwik pens (the purple ones). Is there a video I can watch to check I’m doing it correctly? Thank you!

Ps anyone else noticed the chatter about EL removing the golden dose from future pens? What a ball ache…

some reckless article in the DM today with someone writing about how she makes a 10mg pen last twice as long by injecting half doses. Obviously this is longer than the recommended length of time for the use of a pen… no idea why they’ve published it. It is a risky strategy indeed.

Women’s health doesn’t get the research or investment it needs.

When I was a teen my mum clocked that I was struggling with heavy periods. We went to the GP and he dismissed it, despite my mum saying they were so much heavier than hers. He actually said my mum must have been lucky enough to have had light periods! Anyway, many years later after a miscarriage in my early 30s fibroids were spotted. Didn’t really know enough about them and despite saying they’d follow it up and do a referral, the GP never did. I could have chased it but just left it.

A few years later when I lost weight I noticed a lump in my tummy (slightly alarming), and when I had my Bupa check up they flagged it. Finally got a scan and was seen by a gynaecologist. Whilst nothing like what some poor people suffer with, my uterus was the size of a 20 week pregnancy, full of fibroids. Had surgery in late 2020, they removed most of them but had to stop when things went a bit wrong (needed a huge blood transfusion, I was thankfully oblivious to it all! Until I woke up hours later feeling like a desert). Definitely impacts on fertility as 9 months later I fell pregnant with now DS (at the age of 41) 😂

Anyway, they grew again when I was pregnant (quite big too, it was tight for space in there I think) but I’ve left them for now because my next option is hysterectomy which seems a bit drastic (I was offered a hysterectomy originally, glad I didn’t agree, there’d be no DS!). I hope they just shrink over time…

Good Morning All.

@Mounjaropen
I use UK MEDI to get needles, syringes, wipes etc for the 5th dose, and also keep as a back up after my pen once got jammed after a 3rd dose.

Some people get bigger syringes for drawing up, but I have had no problem using the little ones for drawing up.

Ive used both types, ie with needles pre attached, and the ones where you put the needle on. No problem.
You may already know this from PP's, but when you draw up into the syringe you have to pull back, then relax, pull back then relax etc. That's quite normal when drawing up meds from a sealed container.

Gosh, that’s rough. But happily you do have your lovely DS!

Agree that this area of health is woefully underfunded. And don’t get me started on what women are supposed to endure without adequate pain relief. Ever had a hysteroscopy? Because I have, and let me tell you, never agree to one without anaesthesia..aside from the fact that the room resembled an abattoir post procedure, the advice that ‘you may feel a slight discomfort and wish to take a paracetamol after the procedure’ was akin to suggesting putting a steri strip on a femoral artery tear 😭

I’m off for a lovely drive in the countryside later with DH. It’s going to be a beautiful day so We’re visiting a local vineyard for lunch - he can’t drink for 6 weeks post op so I’m taking advantage of the fact he’s the designated driver 😉 He bought me a lovely classic car for my 50th so the old girl will get a couple of last hurrahs before being tucked up for the winter…

I’ll be mostly having local Rose wine today 😍

I think Dr’s attitudes have changed in the past 5 years so you should at least be heard properly I hope. My advice is to do your own research - Dr Louise Newsome’s balance app is very good for helping you decide what to ask for. As is the British menopause society. Do not rely on the Dr giving you the good stuff/meds best suited to your body. Best of luck!

Can you supplement the cost by putting the newest jeans on vinted maybe? I agree it’s annoying. My newest Zara trousers in a size S are baggy now which is bloody annoying as I bought a matching waistcoat to go with them….

She looks fab I think. Good for her embracing the recent trend by celebrities for being honest about treatment/procedures instead of ‘I drink water and keep my face out if the sun’ bollocks.
