Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we have had the BEST Summer in years as we are all significantly lighter.

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W42 D1 and on w2 of my first titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 6.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb
Total loss so far 61.0 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Well I have had a bit of disaster because the two pens I ordered were supposed to arrive yesterday but didn't get delivered as we were out (my fault not Royal Mail's). They have said they will redeliver next working day which of course is Tuesday.

So assuming that Oushk send them out on the Friday they will have been out of the fridge for four days... I guess the ice pack will keep them cool for some of that and they usually arrive very cold, but clearly will be at room temperature for some of that time, but not above 30 degrees.

I did have a bit of a panic as 2 x 10mg pens would be awful to throw away, but having read up on it it seems that they should be ok if kept in the fridge from when I get them, and worst case would drop in effectiveness. I'll be using them within the next 3 months just have to finish my current pen, so it's not close to the expiry date.

But if I've got this completely wrong please let me know... I know they say they should be kept cold before they are first used.

I think the new Royal Mail contract states that Saturdays and Sundays are normal working days so hopefully you received it in time? Else I’d refer the matter back to Oushk for their advice.

Yes! It makes such a massive difference chosing an outfit not just to hide my stomach! And wearing thin spaghetti straps for the first time since I was 23 was an absolute vibe! Hope you enjoyed taking your Aspigia dress out to lunch!

Spaghetti straps! ‘‘Tis the stuff of dreams! 👏👏👏

@Mounjaropen so are we concluding from our experience that rose and prosecco are interchangeable? 😜

Indeed. I Concur wholeheartedly 😂

Better to be over dressed than under dressed I say! 💃

I’m always overdressed. DD once asked her teacher before a concert’ is my mum here yet?’ To which another teacher replied, ‘how would you know if Mounjaropen is here?’ And the first teacher said ‘oh you know when Mounjaropen is here’ 😂😂😂

Sounds like you had great fun and I am so glad you dressed up, even if no one else did.
Now I am 5 stone slimmer I love planning what to wear, it really adds to the fun. Before I would be dreading it, and wondering if anything would fit and how could I hide my body.
We are going out for a birthday lunch today and I am wearing my new SIZE 14 dress from Aspigia. Hurrah for end of season sales and hurrah for WLI's.😁💃

Ooh. I hope you received all of the compliments and admiring looks!

@Mounjaropen If you are using the 4mm needles (ie, same size as the MJ pens) they are very fine so it is better to screw on one needle to draw up, then change to another as the first one might have been blunted.

Draw up as much as you can/more than you think you need. You will get a bit of air in the syringe, don't worry.

Then change to a fresh needle. Hold the syringe pointing up so that any air bubble is at the top then gently purge, just like you do with the MJ pen. (you can give the syringe a little flick with your finger to get any air to go to the top)

push gently until the air is out, ie a little bit seeps out of the needle, and you have got to the correct dose (0.6ml is a full dose). (for those of us who now need reading glasses I would advise wearing your glasses for doing this, the writing on the syringes is tiny!)

As this is a subcutaneous injection, ie it only goes just under the skin, any air bubble you might inject by mistake will not cause any problems. They do not go into your blood stream at all.

If you are not taking the standard dose from a particular pen (eg you are taking 5mg from a 7.5mg pen) this chart gives you the various dose sizes from various pens.

Yes I use the luer lock syringes and use one needle to extra liquid, then put on a new needle to inject with as @MagnoliaTreePetals says. Easy to do.

don’t worry @Mounjaropen as it is a subcutaneous injection you are not likely to give yourself an embolism as the needles are small

MagnoliaTreePetals · 25/08/2025 10:03

I had a lovely NSV day yesterday in my new Aspigia dress.
It is quite fitted and very flattering (and, as I may have mentioned, a size 14!!). Every time I went past a window or mirror I glanced and thought OOOH yes, I do actually look like a 'normal' slim person! I could even have been accused of being a tiny bit vain for the day! (Which makes a change from never ever wanting to see myself in any reflected surface whatsoever!)
I know that I will very soon get used to my new shape and I am sure the old critical voice will resurface, but I am loving it at the moment.

I have done some altering of my old winter clothes so I can continue to wear them. (and save money) The strange thing is that while wearing them I look at myself and just feel 'big' again. It's as if my brain cannot cope with old clothes on new body = slim.
They will do for now, but I might look to vinted and eventually seasonal sales for some new and correct sized clothes.

Looks like a gorgeous day for our (English, sorry Scotland) Bank holiday.

PresidentBarklett · 25/08/2025 10:11

When I spoke to my nurse friend before giving myself the 5th dose, she explained that actually you need to inject quite a bit of air even intravenously to cause issues and a bubble wouldn't likely make any difference anyway. That, more than anything I think, calmed my panicky DP down! And, as everyone says, as it's a subcutaneous injection, there is no risk whatsoever as far as air bubbles go.

Ah the anxiety when you realise no-one else has followed what you thought was a very obvious dress code! Years back I also observed a 20s dress code, for afternoon tea for a hen do. I could have cried as I approached the venue and saw that no-one else had 😭
Love that you just embraced it. It shall channel my inner @SerenePeer next time I'm over dressed!

If it helps, my sister when she was an awkward teen went in a German pen pal exchange. There was a party being thrown in the town for the young people and her pen pal had been told it was fancy dress. The pen pal’s family had kindly hired actual clown outfits for them both. Big shoes, big trousers, hats, the works. They arrived in full clown dress and make up only to find… the pen pal had had been pranked by the mean girls at school. 1500 kids at the party, two of whom only were in fancy dress…😂

I think Dr’s attitudes have changed in the past 5 years so you should at least be heard properly I hope. My advice is to do your own research - Dr Louise Newsome’s balance app is very good for helping you decide what to ask for. As is the British menopause society. Do not rely on the Dr giving you the good stuff/meds best suited to your body. Best of luck!

Oh, slightly hilariously we haven't even got to HRT conversations because my history with blood clots opens a can of hormonal worms. This has just been during things like the mini pill review when I've said yes to an irregular cycle, but think peri is why.
I've just reached the smile and nod stage with it and try to enjoy being called young!

The Serena Williams thing is ridiculous. I'm glad she's speaking out about it. Maybe it will make a few people realise that there's an actual need for these drugs, and "eat less move more" is bollocks.

In other news I seem to have got too small for all my bloody jeans again which is very annoying. I really don't want to buy more! I'm really not trying to lose any more but the difference between jeans fitting and being too baggy seems to be only a few pounds, and ill fitting jeans just look frumpy and sad.

Buy the smaller jeans. Life is too short for ill fitting clothes that make us feel meh!

Good Morning All.

@Mounjaropen
I use UK MEDI to get needles, syringes, wipes etc for the 5th dose, and also keep as a back up after my pen once got jammed after a 3rd dose.

https://ukmedi.co.uk/?syclid=10c1a549-e58f-43c3-8619-aaf4fe7f1d4a
Possible Shopping list:

Alcowipes:

syringe and needle combined, so you draw up and inject with same needle. These needles are a bit longer but still subcutaneous.:

Alternatively:
syringes that do not come with needles already attached: (so you can draw up with one needle then replace with another for injecting.)
https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/1ml-unifix-luer-lock-syringe-unifix-ux1l-ukmedi-co-uk?_gl=1zkljjw*_gcl_auMTE5NTkwNTkyLjE3NTM3MTQwNDk.
needles that go on those syringes and are the same size as the MJ pens:

Some people get bigger syringes for drawing up, but I have had no problem using the little ones for drawing up.

Ive used both types, ie with needles pre attached, and the ones where you put the needle on. No problem.
You may already know this from PP's, but when you draw up into the syringe you have to pull back, then relax, pull back then relax etc. That's quite normal when drawing up meds from a sealed container.

I've only done the golden dose once @Mounjaropen but I used the syringe with needle combined with no problems at all. It was so much easier than i was expecting and I kind of kicked myself for waiting so long to use the golden dose! Good luck when you do get round to doing it!

Loving that NSV 👏🏻👏🏻.

I keep thinking I won’t be able to get through that gap but if of course I can (as a size 14/12 compared to my old 20/22)

I also wanted to say, sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage not long after I’d had DD. Not planned in any way, but it was terribly sad. 💐

Thank you x

In spite of it being a bank holiday weekend I am still a loser 😁. Nutra check doesn’t allow for part pounds so I have rounded up not down. So another pound and a bit down (the bit will show next week. Just had second 10mg jab - seems okay

I have set a new goal of 9 but anything with a 9 will make me very happy.

Mounjaro starters Nov '24 Thread 13 - The one where we are lucky to end our best Summer in years thinner and more comfortable in our own skin
Caplin · 26/08/2025 11:42

Hello ladies, have been gone a while due to a manic summer, plus catching up on all the price increase furore!

I’ve been in a plateau since the end of June, but to be fair I was in the states for two weeks eating out three times a day, then we had visitors the last three weekends plus my birthday, so the fact my weight has stayed the same despite all the wine and food is kind of a miracle!

I ordered a pen from Medexpress to get ahead of the price rise, and the website let me order two, and charged me for two. But both are still under review after 6 days, so not sure if they will cancel one. Keeping everything crossed I get both! I’m doing 6.25, so getting 5 shots out of a pen, so if I get two more I have another 14 weeks worth.

I still have about 1 1/2 stones to lose, and I’m so close to losing 5st, only about 3lbs away! Hoping with some focus I can get close to goal with the pens I have left! Maybe only have to buy one more at the new crazy price. Nothing like a price hike to focus the mind!

After that I will probably switch to Wegovy for maintenance as I just need to keep the food noise at bay to keep on track for a while longer.

watching everyone’s journey’s with interest as we get to maintenance and switching over!

MounjNewb · 26/08/2025 12:28

Wow - have been on hols and took me ages to catch-up on all the updates and the new thread (thanks @Mounjaropen and congrats on the nuptuals!!). More successes and klaxons to celebrate, well done all.

Getting back from two weeks with what felt like lots more food and booze I was convinced I would have piled half a stone back on but no - just 3.5 lbs and 1.5 of those was back off again this morning. I guess the continued MJ use just keeps the intake down compared with before and whilst I felt like I was eating loads, I probably wasn't nearly as bad as I would have been pre-MJ.

And in more good news, having panicked at first sight of the price news and hearing that Oushk was allowing 3 pen orders, I jumped in quickly to book delivery for tomorrow and saw last night that all was approved and now out for delivery. Cost impact nicely mitigated for 3 months at least.....phew!

Still maintaining at 7.5mg, having paused the thought of stepping down whilst away. Will do another week of this until I recover to my maintenance weight and then go to the 0.5mg per week step down and see how it goes.

RayonSunrise · 26/08/2025 15:23

Amazing progress, @Pumpkinforever- glad the 10mg is agreeing with you. I found thr switch up to 10 okay, but I did split my dose so I took half at the start of the week, and half mid-way through which really evened out the impact. I’d been having a huge appetite suppression on injection day and barely wanting to eat, but was starting to be noticeably hungry/snarky by the end of the week. Splitting the dose kept my appetite even and was generally a better experience all round.

Not that I’ll be keeping it up though! Back down to 7.5mg with this next pen, and then I’ll be looking at how going down to 5 treats me. I am still interested in a low maintenence dose but will weigh up (ho ho) my options.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 26/08/2025 15:45

Wow @Caplin you maintained in the States! hopefully those 3lb will be gone soon and we can ring out the 5 stone klaxons for you.

@MounjNewb I am so impressed, only 3.5lb after 2 weeks holiday, and you've lost 1.5 already. I hope you had a fantastic time.
Great to get your maintenance update as well.

I am waiting to see what the scales say on Thursday, but I suspect I will start a maintenance programme pretty soon.
I managed to order a pen today, just before the price rises. It was the first day on which I could order my next pen, so I am delighted it is already on its way. My pharmacy has strict rules about how frequently you can order pens.
