Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

That’s a lot more palatable than the estimated £450 for a 15mg pen that I’ve seen floating round online though

I THINK that's what she said - but it was just as I dialled in so cannot be sure

I can't access the live for some reason. Updates would be good, thanks guys.

doodleschnoodle · 14/08/2025 15:43

She says they are negotiating to try to get price down but there’s a limit to how much realistically they will do. She’s recommending buying 3 pens before Sept 1 price increase.

Oushk facebook message and live Q&A tonight

I got on the site and ordered a 3rd pen and brought delivery dates of other two forward to before 29th August 🤞

So by the end of this month I'll have a current pen and 4 pen stockpile 🙈 Fridge better keep working!

I keep a pack / s from a delivery in the freezer and the wool packaging as well, just in case it breaks down! For temporary storage, a tip I picked up online.

I hope so

doodleschnoodle · 14/08/2025 15:45

I feel terrible for her, she sounds very emotional. I imagine she will be very worried about the future of her business too Sad

She’s had to end it as she’s got emotional. I do really feel for her

Either post the source or don’t. Oushk have not sent anything regarding price increases.

Just confirmed on a live with Oushk. Scary times

Simple online pharmacy have an automated message about Eli-Lilly putting their prices up across the uk to bring them inline with the EU. No mention of the actual amount of the increase but says it will affect all pharmacies & they are working hard to keep their prices competitive ahead of the increases on 1st September

Still more expensive in Spain even after the projected increases, I know that is scant comfort for those in the UK though. It must be so galling.

Weepixie · 14/08/2025 15:48

CoverMeInMarmalade · 14/08/2025 15:40

...and yet again it's the UK licensed stock being flogged abroad for cheaper that is at the cause of this. That's what seems to have triggered this, or at least contributed to it.

Where are they selling it to because I’m abroad and if I wasn’t sourcing my pens in the UK I’d be paying about 450 pounds a month here. As it is I’m paying between 340 and 350 on average every month depending on exchange rates.

So who/which country is getting the cheaper pens?

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 15:49

@Holluschickie that article is about semaglutide, so Wegovy/Ozempic/Rybelsus not Mounjaro. The Mounjaro patent doesn’t expire for several more years yet, unfortunately.

Paperwhite13 · 14/08/2025 15:49

I’m feeling very fortunate that I’m at GW but this is the kick I needed to come off it (was planning on being on a low dose for as long as needed).

Just ordered two pens from Oushk and likely will be the last.

I really feel for those who are still on their weight loss journey.

They’re not. I think Hira has misunderstood what’s caused this. It’s been caused by Trump.

Oh sorry. I am not on WLI. I didn't realise they were different.
Hope some solution is found.

doodleschnoodle · 14/08/2025 15:52

DH is going to order his 3 and that should get him to goal and a month or two of maintenance as we have some fridge stock too. Then we will have to see.

I’m just so glad we did this when we did as no way could we afford for both of us to be on the inflated prices. We can manage one of us, I am maintaining off MJ now. But it’s so horrible for those part way through their journey who who need this medication to maintain. It feels cruel. And so little notice.

CoverMeInMarmalade · 14/08/2025 15:53

Reseeling abroad was listed in the letter sent out as a reason for the change:

Why does the UK price need to be in line with European and other developed countries average prices?
Having a significantly lower price in the UK than European countries encourages other entities to export UK supply to those countries to profit from the price differential. Although this practice is banned to protect supply for UK patients, Lilly are aware of attempts to circumvent the export ban. Illegal exports could jeopardise patient safety by compromising the supply chain and Lilly are taking all means possible to protect UK supply for UK patients.

There were some pharmacies that were UK based and selling to people with non-UK addresses. Not legit and not legal, but they were doing it. There was a whole reddit board dedicated to people gloating at the UK possibly being hit with new guidelines because of it, some time back.

The manufacturer may be using this as a cover up, but that's what they've said.

Live just finished now, now much to add.

Outside their control, they will try to negotiate but they are not sure how it will work if will be based on number of patients, they will send out options such as switching to Wegovy, asking customers to order 3 pens in one parcel to reduce with delivery before 29th August to reduce workload (too late I've orders 3 separate 🙈).

She is working on prices today and will customers know as soon as they can.

Stunned themselves this is happening and with so little notice. Very emotional, couldn't talk at times.

FT and the telegraph have confirmed it’s due to pressure from Trump

Yes I did ask her as I’ve placed two separate orders but 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you order from multiple pharmacies and they all notify your GP, isn't that going to be problematic at some point?

Just picking up on this post. Surely stockpiling via multiple suppliers will be flagged at some point? Whatever flagging might do! Is it a true concern?

It’s about 450 pounds a pen where I am which is why I source it in the Uk for 340-350 pounds a pen. I can cover the increase but I just know that suppliers here will manipulate this price increase to make it seems it’s across the board/worldwide.

Oh for goodness sake. It sounds like she’s playing you all like a fiddle. She’s a business woman and has presumably made a small fortune from selling WLI. People talk about her as if she’s doing it all from the goodness of her heart.

I don’t know about anyone else but Oushk notified my GP and my GP emailed them back and basically said “thanks for letting us know but if you want any info it’s £98 a pop”

FurForksSake · 14/08/2025 16:01

I’ve ordered 3 from oushk, it will definitely mean I come off instead of staying on for maintenance. I doubt she or anyone will allow switch to wegovy as a maintenance user.
