Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

Also I’m on it and on maintenance, so if the price increases are like they are Id also have to switch to wegovy, which is manufactured by a danish company,

trump wanted el Lilly to put the price down to Americans, not up to everyone else.

SilkCottonTree · 14/08/2025 14:34

Thanks for the heads up, I've just ordered 2 pens. I was planning to stop at the end of the year anyway so I including the pen I already have at home which I've taken 2 doses from I will try to make this my last order and maybe inject every 10 days to make these last as long as possible..

Labyrinthian · 14/08/2025 14:35

Prices in Ireland have been so much higher than in UK - really massive differences especially if you go up the doses (around €450 for 12.5) and I had hoped at some point we would see decreases to UK prices but that doesn't seem likely now

boxoftoads · 14/08/2025 14:36

I guess we just need to wait and see what the discount on list prices will be from September and how much of it will cover the extra £208 per month for 15mg price rise.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 14:37

PresidentBarklett · 14/08/2025 14:30

Agreed. And remember back in Jan (I think?) when the new pharmacy regulations came out and set off a huge panic with everyone thinking they'd be cut off? And it turned out we'd just have to send in more photos etc.

I do think prices will go up a bit, for sure. But I don't think we are looking at up to £400 per pen.

I am cross with Oushk though. The Facebook group is going mad with constant posts being deleted by the trigger happy mods - I think Hira needs to comment publicly to calm everyone down.

Oushk are handling this really badly

roshi42 · 14/08/2025 14:37

Fuuuuck. This has made me realise how much I want to stay on it. It’s not just the weightloss even - it’s whatever imbalance it’s fixing in my body. I don’t want my plantar fasciitis and all that inflammation and insulin resistance to come back! I feel so much better! I just can’t afford more than £200 a month though, just no way with nursery fees and a child to feed!!

I mentally think that £200 will be the big psychological barrier that things will settle at to be honest - which is painful, but doable just about. Crossing over that too far is going to put a LOT of people off.

Posts in the Oushk group regarding the price increases are being declined. Must mean they’re on the way

No, this is to stop speculation like on this thread. We simply don’t know what the prices will be or if they will increase. As @TheRealGoose has explained over and over.

If they want to stop speculation they need to address this.

IsItSnowing · 14/08/2025 14:48

My initial reaction is panic. I can probably afford it but I’m not sure I’m prepared to pay it. I’ll look at moving to wegovy I think. At least for maintenance. But I have2 stone still to lose and I’d prefer to stay on mj for that.

ThreeTescoBags · 14/08/2025 14:48

The cynical part of me wonders how the timing of this aligns with their launch of the pill form? If I was conspiracy minded I'd be thinking, Eli Lilly are about to launch a pill form which will have a vast profit margin compared to the pens due to the logistics of manufacture and distribution but the efficacy of which is not as good as the pens. What would be the best way of converting existing customers away from a less profitable product particularly those customers where the profit margin is the lowest 🤔

This is a Trump thing so all companies will likely be doing the same thing. The issue is that Trump wants to tie US drug prices to the best prices abroad.

Maybe, but if they received the email at the same time as everyone else it’s been a few hours

Presumably the cost of Mounjaro isn’t the purpose of the Facebook group?

That doesn't necessarily mean anything except that they don't want endless scaremongering posts clogging up their Facebook, certainly not until they can issue a statement themselves.

Baseless predictions of worst case scenarios are really unhelpful. Thank goodness for @TheRealGoose who seems to have an understanding of how pricing actually works.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/08/2025 14:52

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 12:57

@WeAllHaveWings does your supplier let you order 2 pens at once, or was this from different places? Unsure what to do, as I have just had an order last week from my current supplier so may not be able to reorder for a week or two.

Edited

Oushk allow buying in advance with delayed delivery dates, so I have ordered and paid for my Sep and Oct orders with delivery dates and the standard £15 off code, hopefully 🤞 they will honour them. I have a pen and a half in the fridge too, so hopefully that will see me through to maintenance and I can drop down to 2.5mg

Also hope pharmacies have some purchasing power to negotiate prices, but I would worry a smaller supplier like Oushk might struggle to be competitive. This could put some of the smaller providers out of business. 😟

ChungkingDreamer · 14/08/2025 14:55

This is terrible news, if it does come to pass (and I'm with others who are sceptical that the hikes will be so high).

Luckily for me, my supplier lets you order 3 months' worth in advance, and I was due to order this week, so instead of my usual one pen, I've ordered three, and I should be at a healthy weight by the time I'm done with the last.

I was going to keep up with a maintenance dose, so it looks like I'll have to see how things play out on that score now!

The point of the group is to discuss. This is one of the things that needs to be discussed.

NeuroSpicyCat · 14/08/2025 14:58

Yep, I heard this too.

Eli Lilly is increasing the UK wholesale list price from September 2025, and all private suppliers (Asda, Boots, online pharmacies, clinics) source from the same supply chain, the increase will hit every provider.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 14/08/2025 14:59

Are you actually enjoying predicting the worst case outcomes possible? It’s unhelpful and unnecessarily upsetting for some readers.

Exactly. The Oushk facebook group always removes any posts to do with orders/prices/doses etc to stop it getting shut down so that is normal. They can talk about them in the customer Circle group, but I haven't seen anything official yet (I'm supposed to be working and checking how things are developing between calls 😂)

FoxRedPuppy · 14/08/2025 15:00

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 14:56

The point of the group is to discuss. This is one of the things that needs to be discussed.

But it can’t be discussed and as no one knows how it will affect pharmacy prices. So it’s just a lot of panicking without any clear information.

chaosmaker · 14/08/2025 15:01

Sounds like people who it is deemed necessary for - ie with NHS prescriptions will be fine then.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 15:01

Oushk have confirmed price rises that will likely price people out. They’re going to be sending us all information on other options 😔
