Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

Sounds like people who it is deemed necessary for - ie with NHS prescriptions will be fine then.

This is totally unfair though. Because I wasn’t eligible because I didn’t have four weight related conditions. But my BMI eas over 50.

DelusionalBrilliance · 14/08/2025 15:02

I’ve added an image, not sure how long it will take to load. But I just wanted to show a visual of how MJ is life changing for so many, and how an increase in price will put a barrier between people who deserve to be healthy and achieving it. The yellow circles on the graph are a snap shot of how my weight bounced around and how every diet was a huge struggle for me, (20 years of struggle overall). The green circles are how easily the weight came off once I started MJ. I technically have just enough pens to reach goal in theory, but the reality is, that if I need more pens I’ll be buying them at whatever cost because my life has been so greatly changed for the better since starting. The thought of losing that makes me feel sick, but not as sick as the thought that some people won’t be able to do the same. It’s absolutely rubbish 😔

No. The NHS have added additional requirements above and beyond the clinical prescribing guidelines that private prescribers adhere to. The NHS has done that due to business and operational reasons, nothing to do with patient eligibility.

Oushk have confirmed price rises that will likely price people out. They’re going to be sending us all information on other options 😔

Do you have a li k please? I used to get rh newsletter but haven't had one for months and when I tey to sign up again it won't let me

Inyournewdress · 14/08/2025 15:06

At Boots it’s already £219 for a month supply of 2.5 mg strength.
Had no idea anyone was getting it for £92!

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 15:07

@LifeOfAShowGirl when you say Oushk have confirmed prices, do you mean they have given you an update on their actual prices to consumers, or just confirmed that this list price change is correct?

They’ve confirmed that price rises are coming and are sharing details of alternative treatments

I've been getting my 15mg pens for £96 from Voy with a referral discount not sure what that will change to or if they will let me change to wegovy and use the discount with that

justasking111 · 14/08/2025 15:10

Sounds like it was heavily discounted in the UK to build up the customer base.

No, it was discounted because of the lack of availability on the NHS.

Good grief, all that says is the structure is changing and they don’t know more. Oushk are quite small so likely still have to negotiate terms.

This site allows you to find the lowest price with or without discount codes.

It also says they know this will be a barrier. AKA, significant increases.

I strongly suspect most people will be fine with only those really struggling to afford the lowest doses sadly impacted. Right now no one has info on customer impact, no one.

justasking111 · 14/08/2025 15:12

If you can sell half the amount at double the price you're winning.

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 15:12

@LifeOfAShowGirl I don’t think that’s confirmation of anything as of yet. Just a repetition of what has already been made public.

Time4changeagain · 14/08/2025 15:13

Simple online pharmacy have an automated message about Eli-Lilly putting their prices up across the uk to bring them inline with the EU. No mention of the actual amount of the increase but says it will affect all pharmacies & they are working hard to keep their prices competitive ahead of the increases on 1st September

WeAllHaveWings · 14/08/2025 15:14

Oushk website has crashed, probably with patients ordering

Very misleading headline v what the body of the text says

“While Lilly does not determine the prices that private healthcare providers set, we are working with them to maintain patient access”

aka, commercial deals.

You’re blatantly sharing misinformation.

justasking111 · 14/08/2025 15:12

Yes, but if you sell a quarter you’re losing and a double of price would mean the vast majority move to wegovy or don’t take it and it removes new customers too.

Inyournewdress · 14/08/2025 15:17

It must take a special kind of person to profiteer over life saving medication. I couldn’t sleep at night.
