Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

@RH1234 I’d be interested to find out which pharmacist would prescribe MJ when your BMI is 24. Would you be open to sharing that info? Because they need to be reported.

Yes. Please do @RH1234. I'm retired with plenty of time on my hands to follow up on reporting this rogue pharmacy, if you like <head tilt>

Yes but it’s still prescribed by a qualified medical professional.

What is your actual point?
the prescriber matters, it impacts on cost
GP prescriber - no price increase to patient
Private prescription eg online pharmacy this will be subject to price increase and cost increase directly borne by patient

Actually people who are not obese and hang out on WLI forums are almost always here because they have an eating disorder. It is exactly the same as those with EDs who walk around supermarkets picking up packets of biscuits and then carefully putting them back on the shelf, so that they can enable the disorder by proving their control & ability to not buy and eat them..

I have a couple of relatives like that. Always watching what other people eat, watching what other people weigh, using it for self-stroking the ED monster inside themselves.

And BTW people with eating disorders cannot be prescribed WLIs. Can you guess why?

Isn’t BED an eating disorder?

Does anyone know could Wegovy be affected in the same way ?

Louderthanblooms · 14/08/2025 20:18

Couldn’t get on medexoress for hours, now tried 6 times to order, no emails and 3 pending payments.

Theoretically yes. The manufacturer of wegovy also makes ozempic. Their main business base is the USA. They have been sent the same letter by Trump

I thought you were another troll making out that if it’s prescribed by a private pharmacist then anyone can get it and you don’t really need it. Apologies if I misread the situation! We’ve had a lot of people coming on and saying that kind of thing!

That's odd, I managed to order a 7.5mg pen a couple of hours ago. PayPal hung for a couple of minutes but other than that it was fine. Email confirmation/approval came straight away.

I apologise if Mounjaro is not the one that caused the supply chain issues, happy to hold my hands up and say didn’t know that was different. I linked them all in the same “family”. As would anyone who cares for their affected friends.

We all learn.

I still worry for its use outside of the NHS. Different matter altogether (and not needed for this thread - again I apologise)

As I said, I hope there is an alternative so people who are now reliant on it aren’t forced into financial crisis over it.

It would be lovely to get it on the NHS. I'm currently having to pay a small fortune for it and it's about to hugely increase so yes please to funding it for me. My investment in my health will save the nhs a fortune in the future after all.

Not to mention the people who are buying it privately are undoubtedly saving the NHS a fortune too!

I mean, you have to do that on the jabs. Shame they don’t make jabs to stop people being smug cunts isn’t it?

I wish you all the best with getting sorted.

Quite rightly I’m going to back out this thread, apologies for offence caused. I honestly hope anyone affected gets sorted, either with price changes or alternatives.

You have to exercise on the jabs?

WeAllHaveWings · 14/08/2025 20:26

Oushk 7pm live finished. They are still working out their new pricing and negotiating with Eli Lilly - they ran though some potential prices but too quick to write done. Did say maintenance 15% off probably won't be able to stay it will be a £10-£20 off type thing instead.

They will support patients who wish to switch to Wegovy (for maintenance too). They have told Eli Lilly they will need to recommend this to patients as the prices are just too high.

They have asked for more stock of 12.5mg and 15mg as they are out of stock but don't know if they will get extra as they are still under allocation.

Other than that don't think anything else new.

Some really nasty posters on here. Why are you even hanging out in the WLI forum if you’re not taking them?

Why? its true, I know 3 people on weight lose medication, one has it on the nhs the others pay for it via the Internet. If you genuinely need it you'll be given it.

I wonder how long it’s going to take to get that removed when my reply about someone being a particular kind of pussy was gone in seconds. You see that’s the trouble with these posters. - they like dish their nonsense out but are mortally wounded when treated in kind.

Noshowlomo · 14/08/2025 20:27

Shit a brick! I was thinking of coming off it anyway, as lost 3st 7 but wanted to lose another 2. Can I do it… I’ll try! Might get another 12.5 and stretch it out 6 weeks or so and see then.

The difference is the CFO of Novo Nordisk (makers of Wegovy) came out the other day to say they may lower their prices for the US market due to Trump's demands.

Eli Lilly have decided to raise MJ prices in the UK rather than lower them in the US.

Of course, Weogvy's sales are currently suffering due to MJ. If that starts to reverse, Novo Nordisk may change their pricing strategy. Time will tell.

Um, no. The NHS doesn’t authorise lots of drugs for people who genuinely need them due tp oat constraints, even things like cancer drugs are not always made available to people who need them. This is basic stuff.
