Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

@Sundaymorningcalla Jfc could you be any more ignorant? Not surprised that this thread has shaken some of the weirdos out of their trees though.

So how many pens are we all stockpiling?

MM so far have just added a banner to the top of their page but I cant see any further info given by them and I want to know if they will let us order a 3 pen bundle like oushk!

Can we all agree just to not respond to the thinking challenged idiots that keep popping up? Don’t give them air.

Agreed. Report & ignore

BubblyBath178 · 14/08/2025 17:58

I bet they won’t be as quick to reduce the price if it becomes cheaper to produce in the future 🙄

Probably supply and demand curve kicking in

Wistfullysleepy · 14/08/2025 18:01

Voy have told me they won’t let people buy more than one pen at a time as it’s not an allowed prescription pathway…..total shit

Anyone know how to change the quantity on Ouskh? It only lets me add a number rather than delete the one! So I can add “13” in my basket but not 3?!?

You just delete the one from the front

I have put in my orders when normally I'd order with one dose left.

I have been quite cautious so far and not going 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 and lost 28lbs so far.

But if it's going to double in price and doing the full step from now on. I'd rather loose as much as per recommended dose schedule and get it done faster if it's going to go up dramatically.

As soon as 12.5 pen comes I'm going to get the next one and hopefully order before the 1st. Such a pita as if I'd known I'd have have been less cautious and possibly been closer to my goal by now.

I have just ordered 3 pens as well - using my 3 ZAVA discount codes - there wasnt an option for another deliver date - and we are off on holiday tomorrow not back til Sept so getting them delivered to my sons house. Hope they honour this order.

Just had Zava cancel one of my 3 pens saying they need to allow more people to access the medication - so they are obviously rationing it to manage their own supply chain. However I am pleased that they had responded to my order within a couple of hours - so if anyone wants my discount code just PM me.

I already had one delivered last week so am pleased that they have at least allowed me to order 2 more (even though they recommend not to order more than 2 weeks ahead) - so with my bonus dose I'm stocked up now for another 14 weeks which is towards the end of Nov. I am about a stone from goal so might stretch my 5mg pens out as 2.5mg for maintenance to cover another 10 weeks - but that would be assuming I could maintain on 2.5? The main Eli Lilly study is of candidates at 15mg maintaining on that for a year following 39 weeks on losing. I am not sure how you stay on a high dose and maintain - just up your calories? I would have expected micro dosing? But maybe that wasnt explored when this trial was designed and Eli Lily would want to show most people maintaining their loss rather than piling it all back on again - so took no risks with the maint dose used in the trial.

Just picking up on this post. Surely stockpiling via multiple suppliers will be flagged at some point? Whatever flagging might do! Is it a true concern?

It will be too late, they can email your GP but by the time you do you will have the pen.

Errrghhh FFS! I’m a GP and had NO clue this was coming. There has not been a word breathed about it anywhere I’m aware of. I have loads of patients on it privately as it’s not approved for prescribing locally on the NHS except for ridiculously tight criteria. And it’s a blue collar area, not affluent at all, people are really stretching themselves to afford it generally but so many people are doing amazingly well on it. Was actually hoping to start on them myself in the next few months… not sure I can realistically afford it now, it was always going to be pushing it in my individual circumstances but I had a gallbladder op last year so didn’t want to risk anything that could make things worse til that was all sorted and I’d recovered well from it.

I also think more and more people will be trying to get it on the NHS now as well

As you're a GP, do you mind me asking if it's actually safe to go cold turkey? Won't affect me personally, but I have been wondering about what happens if you just stop without titrating down.

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 14/08/2025 16:46

Again - three pens! HOW! Not that i want to double dose but it would be really convenient to be able to order in advance for me as I travel a lot. Do they actually deliver them all together or do you just pre-order at a set price for phased deliveries?

Edited

I have just done this Zava will deliver pens on the same day - but its two separate orders - there was no option to stagger the dates. If you want my 25% or £40 discount code just let me know. They are the pharmacy wholesaler for Asda and have been great so far - even today when no doubt they were snowed they turned around this order in a couple of hours.

Add 13, then in the basket it will tell ypu you’re over the limit and you can take it aback down to 3

@TheRealGoose Thank you for your measured posting, it’s been reassuring. I’ll sit back for now and see what the outcome of all this is likely to be.

usedtobeaylis · 14/08/2025 18:11

I 100% can't afford any price increase at all. Not to be dramatic but I feel a bit heartbroken. Mounjaro has been life changing but it has been a scramble every month to afford it as it is. I do have a couple of pens that I'm taking smaller doses from so my best case scenario might be to taper down and see if I can manage to somehow obtain some effect from the lowest, cheapest doses to keep me on track. The reality is that I will need to come off it. I can't afford to stockpile either. As suspected, the people at the greatest risk from obesity related complications will be the ones least able to access it and that pool will just keep getting wider. And psychologically, with the 'eat less move more' crowd gloating left, right and centre, it will be utterly shit.

dynamiccactus · 14/08/2025 18:12

According to the Times they've increased the price because Trump moaned that people in the UK were getting it cheaper than in the US.

So rather than reduce the price in the US...

I don't know if this is true - the Times is full of clickbait at the moment. August silly season at its height. But the main point is the price is going up - a lot. I pay £50 a month for Symprove (which apparently used to be available on the NHS and it was an NHS nurse who recommended it to me) but that is obviously not remotely in the same league as the weight loss drugs.

I have my concerns about these drugs long term but I feel for the people who have been pushing themselves to afford it and now this happens.

WorriedRelative · 14/08/2025 18:12

Oushk won't let me order without booking a video consultation. I have already done weight verification and am not at maintenance yet, any ideas anyone?,

12.5 and 15 now sold out at Oushk. This is a nightmare
