@OvertiredandConfused I had hair loss before starting mj, menopause probably, it’s continued though. I think it seems worse than it actually is for me though as I don’t brush my hair daily (it’s curly, I look like Crystal tips if I brush it - you have to be a certain age to know that reference) so it only sees a brush when it’s washed. Apparently you lose on average 300 hairs a day (?) so I could lose 900 hairs every time I brush it, it looks like I pull 900 out of the tangle tease brush thing which can feel quite shocking!
I take collagen powder mixed into Greek yoghurt but mainly for my skin. I did try biotin chewy things for a while but read that they don’t really contain enough to be useful so stopped.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 05/08/2025 19:56

Slow to find the new thread here but I’ll do my summary anyway!

I have also done many many diets, several iterations of WW, noom, Zoe (which I still love and follow as an ethos but I didn’t lose weight that way), slimpod. After my youngest son was born (he’s 17!) I think I was about 15 stone and then gradually just added each year till I hit 18st. Then the pandemic came and I barely left the house or exercised. I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea which was a viscous circle untreated, and then peri menopause hit and HRT added more weight… In Feb I had a fall and needed ankle surgery and was non weight bearing for weeks.

This all led me to my highest weight of 22st. My respiratory consultant had recommended WLS a couple of stone lower and I finally decided to look at WLI, having read and believed all the celebrity rubbish any every thing else on the bingo card.

So I am 13 weeks in, have lost just shy of 2.5 stone. Still waiting to lose dress sizes and as I’ve posted before not quite got the gastric symptoms managed but so far it is worth it to me. Another half a stone will put me at a weight I haven’t been for over 5 years, so am strangely excited for the next stone loss and beyond! Dosewise had a failed attempt at 5mg, currently trying 3.75mg to see if I can get that sweet spot with the side effects. I have lost weight every week so no rush to increase.

i did 3 months with Voy and did like the initial support but this last pen decided to go it alone, i went with IQ doctor which took about 5 days to get through approval but hopefully easier on reorder.

This thread is so inspiring, some of you were around my starting weight a year ago and I can’t imagine how I will feel a year from now if I have anything like a similar loss!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/08/2025 21:21

I went clothes shopping today for the first time in a while, my brain hasn’t caught up with my body yet as everything I tried on was huge on me! I ended up buying a denim jacket in a size medium (I’ve never been a medium in my life)! Then 2 dresses, one a 14 and one in a 12 from next! I think their sizes must be super generous because I am definitely not a 12!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/08/2025 21:35

I am a 12 now for most things. I reckon we all need to get our heads round our new sizes.

I bought a lovely skirt in a 14 from Vinted, and it's too big.

However, as I keep pointing out on these threads, I'm still not even in the OVERWEIGHT category on the BMI scale. It still has me as OBESE and my BMI is almost 31.

But I'm a size 12.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/08/2025 22:14

I’m also still obese @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne, I have to lose another 2 stone just to be overweight!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/08/2025 22:15

I am still a size 16 on the bottom though - my hips and bum haven’t caught up with my top half yet!

mamabeeboo · 05/08/2025 22:39

Wow ladies imagine being a 12!!!!
I can't wait until that time comes

I remember Crystal Tips and Mutley!

I’ve been losing hair for about two months now @OvertiredandConfused about 2 handfuls a day and it’s hardly grown since I had my hair cut 7 weeks ago😬. I think it’s slowing down now 🤞🏻. Ii coincided with me going up to the 7.5mg pen. I asked my hairdresser and she said a lot of her clients on MJ are the same and she recommended biotin supplements which I bought from Nutrition Geeks. Google suggests biotin doesn’t do much, but I started them today, so we’ll see.

Motnight · 06/08/2025 07:15

I loved Crystal Tips. And Mutley!

@OvertiredandConfused I use Ancient and Brave Collagen Powder and also Biotin tablets. I haven't had any noticeable additional
hair loss.

Weighed in today, have lost another 1 lb.

I have no real idea what size clothes I am 😂 I am wearing size 20 tops and skirts but they seem too big on me. I also have a couple of pairs of Next trousers (baggy style) in size 16. And a size 16 Seasalt dress. I started off 87 lbs ago as a size 28 plus I think though was squeezing into a size 24 skirt. My bra size has gone from a 44 huge cup size which barely fitted and was really uncomfortable to a 38 still huge cup size. I think that I need to go to a John Lewis or somewhere with lots of concession shops and try things on. But I still feel as though I am going to have a terrible experience actually shopping for clothes.

I am still obese too. Have around 3 stone to go to become overweight. My BMI when I started was over 52. Thinking about it, my body is blooming amazing to cope with what I have put it through.

WafflingDreamer · 06/08/2025 07:31

Sorry I have way too much to catch up on. School holidays are proving a real challenge for me. Trouble is we are busy so I'm not drinking enough, I've really struggled this week with eating rubbish. Not big volumes but lots of junk food that I haven't had in a long time. I need to do a proper reset today and get back to weighing and measuring everything as I seem to be snacking a lot more on things that don't keep me full.

Its crazy because I'm definitely not hungry but my food noise this week has led to the greedy kid that lives inside me shovelling crisps and chocolate in this week.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 06/08/2025 08:29

I’ve weighed a day early this week as I’m going away again today, just down to the coast to stay with a friend for a couple of nights. I’ve had a big whoosh this week - 5lbs off! My BMI is now 34 - when I started it was 53.1!

Doggymummar · 06/08/2025 08:45

MontysMissus · 05/08/2025 18:23

What is everyone's average daily calorie intake? Im currently taking in around 1100 calories a day, according to MyFitnessPal, and I worry that its not enough. However, I'm struggling to eat much more and I really want to do this in a sensible and sustained way. Any thoughts?
Just about to start week 3 of 2.5mg

I only lig when I eat something new, as been at this a long time so I don't know for sure, but I would imagine about 1000 to 1200 max

WI. Didn’t keep the trend of yesterday but it’s a loss all the same. I can bank it for next week!

Week 24, 7.5mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 11.5lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 15st 7.5lbs
Loss this week 3lb
Total loss 52.5lbs

Interim GW (set by Nutracheck!) 14st 11lbs

TragicMuse · 06/08/2025 08:56

I average 1000-1200 calories a day @MontysMissus I do log everything and that’s my running average.

The thing I find hard is getting enough protein in.

Take yourself out for the day and just try things on for fun, I did this last week and it was a really enjoyable experience, I really wasn’t expecting it to be. I tried stuff on in Joules, Whitestuff, Fatface, Next, M&S, Mango ect. I started off trying on dresses in 20s but quickly realised I needed to try 18’s. For reference I’m a 38g or gg in bras now and I managed to get into a size 16 dress in Joules (I was wearing a minimiser bra though 😁).

PearlsPearl · 06/08/2025 09:45

I log on Nutracheck and try not to go over 1200.

I'm autistic though and tend to eat the same things over and over so know the calories for them already, I just log if I eat something different.

I use 150 calories a day every day on vitamin and melatonin gummies, a clear protein drink from MyProtein, and 3 prunes and 1 apricot (if you know you know!).

Then try to stay under 400 for lunch and 600 for dinner.

I think that’s not a problem with your weight, that’s a problem with BMI measurements. Years ago 25-30 was normal, 30-35 overweight. And it doesn’t account for large breasts or muscular bodies. I’m sure if I had a double mastectomy my BMI would drop considerably but my health wouldn’t be affected at all. I’d take it with a pinch of salt.

My bra size is 36JJ so yes, that's quite a lot of weight.

I reckon if I had an apronectomy I'd lose about 12lb. Even now, it's a significant part of me.

Well that’s why your BMI is still showing as obese. If you’re fitting into a size 12, you’re clearly not. Take away a few cup sizes and your apron, I’m willing to bet you’ll be classed as normal weight, whatever normal is.

and thank you for your suggestion of intermittent fasting, it’s definitely making a difference already, my weight is starting to go down again, finally 🎉

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/08/2025 11:25

Lol so is mine, finally. I've been desperate to lose the 3lb I put on while I was on holiday, and I've manged to lose 2lb. Thankfully.

So I'm 12st 6lb now. Only 2st or maybe less than that to go.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 06/08/2025 13:33

Intermittent fasting is wonderful, I do it 2 days a week and will continue to do so probably for the rest of my life. Pre MJ I did IF to maintain my weight and stop gaining, so I’m hoping that it will help me to continue to maintain once I get to goal weight. I do start my mornings with a splash of milk in my coffee though, I can’t quite do the black coffee first thing, then it’s plain or sparkling water all day until 6:30, one hour dinner window then nothing until breakfast the following day.

My hairdresser is in a bougie-er bit of SW london than my flat is and she said loads of their clients are on WLI. She's got a lovely discrete bend-down-and-lowered-voice enquiry if anyone mentions hair loss! Thankfully I think the worst of mine was when I was on high dose anticoagulants after a pulmonary embolism, rather than mounjaro, but I enjoyed getting The Chat.

TragicMuse · 06/08/2025 15:30

Look at this flimsy chair!

I sat on it without even worrying!
