Also tried on a few things in a second-hand shop/dress agency place, including a pair of short denim shorts and my legs looked pretty ok. I didn’t buy them because they didn’t do up so not wearable right now, but it made me realise I could wear shorts if I wanted to!

And then I remembered that when I went to see the personal shopper at John Lewis - last year - she did say I had good legs. Which was a surprise!

Anyway. Clothes are becoming fun again!

Autumnflowers2 · 06/08/2025 16:06

Currently on holiday
Been wearing my dresses with cycling shorts under ,as per usual
Trip to the beach so I removed the shorts under ,so I could swim
Walking along the sand and something feels odd
There's a breeze and I realised my legs don't touch 😃
I don't need the cycling shorts any more
I walked the full length of the beach ,legs not touching and not even thinking of looking for a rock to sit down on .
Huge huge difference from a year ago ,where I struggled to walk on the beach at all.
Happy 😊

I log on Nutracheck and try not to go over 1200.

I'm autistic though and tend to eat the same things over and over so know the calories for them already, I just log if I eat something different.

I use 150 calories a day every day on vitamin and melatonin gummies, a clear protein drink from MyProtein, and 3 prunes and 1 apricot (if you know you know!).

Then try to stay under 400 for lunch and 600 for dinner.

I'm diagnosed autistic to
And tend to just eat the same foods
Makes life so much easier 😃

Take yourself out for the day and just try things on for fun, I did this last week and it was a really enjoyable experience, I really wasn’t expecting it to be. I tried stuff on in Joules, Whitestuff, Fatface, Next, M&S, Mango ect. I started off trying on dresses in 20s but quickly realised I needed to try 18’s. For reference I’m a 38g or gg in bras now and I managed to get into a size 16 dress in Joules (I was wearing a minimiser bra though 😁).

Thank you @Iwouldratherbesinging I do think that is what I need to do!

TragicMuse · 06/08/2025 16:42

That’s brilliant @Autumnflowers2! What a win!

Motnight · 06/08/2025 16:43

Love your NSV @TragicMuse!

PearlsPearl · 06/08/2025 17:15

Brilliant NSV @TragicMuse I'd be well scared to sit on that!

I had one yesterday and one today and I feel all buzzy about them. The NSVs really mean a lot more to me than the scales.

First, yesterday I put my trainers on standing up and then bent over and tied the laces. I don't know how many years it's been since I've been able to do that, I always sit on the sofa to put shoes on.

Today I was at aqua and in the cool down you have to reach behind you and hold your heel. Well, I've never been able to reach so I just lift my leg up a bit. I haven't been for 6 weeks (life stuff) and I was able to grab both heels today. I couldn't quite believe it. I've been going to aqua since last August and so it's taken a year and 4 stone 10lbs and I can do it. 😭😍

PearlsPearl · 06/08/2025 17:22

Also I have a question, I follow Dr Punam Krishan on instagram (I love her) and she's just done a few good videos on MJ. In one she says you should vary your injection site each time, stomach, thighs, arms. Does it make any difference? I just do it in the side of my belly, alternating each time.

SilenceInside · 06/08/2025 17:32

My understanding of varying the injection site is simply to avoid the last exact place you injected. So I do as you do, @PearlsPearl , and inject alternate sides of my stomach, and go higher or lower each time to avoid using the same place repeatedly. I have done 56 injections now, so I suppose I probably have repeated the same spot at some point. It's to avoid getting lipohypertrophy, getting hard lumpy bits of fat. If you then injected into a lipohypertrophy area, that might affect the absorption of the medication.

Elephantscantjump · 06/08/2025 17:37

Does anyone have recommendations of a calorie tracking app? I previously used my fitness pal but tried it this morning and its got so busy I couldn't stand it.

I haven't been calorie counting as didn't want to get obsessive but I want to make sure my choices are as good as I think hah.

PearlsPearl · 06/08/2025 18:11

@SilenceInside ah is that why, I see! I can't imagine it would make a difference doing it somewhere else on your body, surely it's the same meds going in wherever it goes in? I've seen on here though some people swear less side effects occur in thighs. I will probably just keep popping it all over my stomach because I'm in the habit now. And I've got plenty of belly to do so avoiding previous spots will be easy enough 😆

@Elephantscantjump I use Nutracheck religiously, you get a month's free trial then you need to pay (think it's £25 a year). I've used it for a full year now and still love it, so easy to use, always has things when I scan them in the barcode scanner, and I use it to track my weight too.

Nutracheck, I paid for it in January for the year and I’m finding it very good. I’m not aware of a free one as good as My Fitness Pal, hopefully someone else might know.

afaloren · 06/08/2025 18:32

Loving everyone’s NSVs! The chair 🫣 I’d never sit on that!!!

SilenceInside · 06/08/2025 18:43

@PearlsPearl there was one small study, 54 participants, that looked at the impact of where you inject. The results seemed to indicate that those injecting in the arm and thigh had fewer side effects, but also less appetite suppression. The study didn’t look at the effect on weight loss, it was purely about side effects. This article has a summary of the study:

https://creativetouchrotherham.co.uk/blog/post/mounjaro-injection-location-results-effects

I don’t think it makes much difference really. I am a recovering needle phobe, and for some reason the idea of using my thigh or arm gives me the heebie jeebies. My belly is fairly numb from 2 c sections and I have a lot of wobbly area to use, so I’m fine with injecting there!

TragicMuse · 06/08/2025 18:54

Thanks for your vote of confidence on the chair! It was a really good moment!

I inject in my thigh. No idea why really, I just do. But I might do stomach next and see if it makes a difference! My side effects are pretty low to non-existent so we’ll see. And a bit more suppression is always welcome.

We went out for lunch today. It’s my jab day - I’m doing it in a few minutes - so suppression at its lowest and I chose a small plate (duck bao buns) and was full when I finished. Didn’t miss chips, or regret my choice. It was just right. I enjoyed being able to do that!

NHS weight loss app
Really really easy to use
Lots of info and it's free
I've used it the whole time I've been on mj.

TragicMuse · 06/08/2025 19:15

I am another one using Nutracheck. I really like it!

Doggymummar · 06/08/2025 19:52

Nutracheck, I forgot to jab today , not working I didn't realise the day.

Same.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 06/08/2025 20:52

Oooh, I didn’t know the nhs had one. I must have been living under a rock! I don’t count calories but it’d be good to have - thank you

afaloren · 06/08/2025 21:25

I usually jab my stomach, but I tried it in my leg last week and got a bruise. Back to stomach this week!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/08/2025 21:28

I get a bruise occasionally, no matter where I jab.
I usually use my abdomen as it's nice and handy.
🤣

Elephantscantjump · 06/08/2025 21:40

Thanks all!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/08/2025 22:05

I've been going through my photos and finally stuck them all in a folder.

Here is one from last November and another from this week. I can see a big difference. Last November I weighed 14st 5lb and this week I weigh 12st 6lb.

It also demonstrates to me that I've been losing a stone every four months. So yes, it's slow, but it's always going down.

I've always thought that I'd get to my goal by Christmas, and I think I almost will.
That'll be a full two years, and I believe I'll have lost between nine and ten stone in that time.
