I love how supportive this group is. @SecretNameforMN I'd agree with all of the brilliant advice you've had already. Do please weigh when you feel ready though. It's just a number, that doesn't define you, and one that you're not seeing again. But seeing that number chugging down and tracking your progress is so satisfying.
I hyperfixate at times, so am tracking pounds lost but also things like the overall % of weight I've lost and the amount of fat inc a breakdown of visceral and subcutaneous lost. I'm getting close to 25% of my starting weight gone and am excited about that milestone, which I'd be missing if I didn't know what my starting point was.

Thank you @Trinck @SilenceInside you gave me some courage to start C25k. I did my first run this morning, feeling spent.

Woo! Brilliant, especially on a bank holiday Monday!

afaloren · 25/08/2025 11:15

Thinking of you @SecretNameforMN and cheering you on. You can do it! This is just the first step and you can only take any journey one step at a time. This thread is lovely for support. We understand.

Well done @mamabeeboo ! I’m just back from the gym. I actually helped someone! A gentleman got on the bike next to me and couldn’t understand why it wouldn’t turn on. I advised him he needed to start pedalling. Who would have thought?

Billybingbong · 25/08/2025 11:30

@SecretNameforMN I've said this loads of times, but this really is the most supportive thread going. We are all doing our own journeys, in our own way, but we know we can come here for support, advice and friendship, all without judgement. We've all tried and failed a million times before, but will probably all agree that MJ/Wegovy has been a lifesaver. You can do this, and we'll all be here cheering you on 💕

TheZingyFish · 25/08/2025 12:15

@SecretNameforMN
Your post made me so sad, but at the same time it was so familiar. This is scary, I was petrified when I started as really felt like this would fail like everything else I had tried and was desperate for this not to fail again as it really felt like the last chance. I spent the first couple of weeks second guessing everything, but with the support of this group answering my daft questions and offering reassurance I can see this works and am so proud of myself.

I was so ashamed when I weighed myself at the start and didn’t even want to share my starting weight in the group to begin with, so don’t feel you have to. Keep it written down somewhere for you though, I have a spreadsheet and use the Nutracheck app, and it will be a blessing to see how far you’ve come in a few weeks.

There is so much support in this group from people right at the start of their journeys to those who are seasoned pros at this. Lean on the group when you need and just give it a chance. For me this medication and group are literally life changing for me. There really is no judgement, just support in this group.

Oh my god, that's brilliant. What a sense of achievement you must have. Well done.

I can remember with absolute clarity finishing 'that' Week 5 run and physically crying real Ugly-Cry Big Tears when it dawned on my that I really was going to do it. Such an incredible feeling.

I do envy you to have that ahead of you @mamabeeboo. I couldn't do that anymore (yet - I'll get there).

GnomeDePlume · 25/08/2025 13:39

@SecretNameforMN while the mountain you are going to climb can seem enormous the thing to remember is that there are a lot of NSVs to enjoy along the way.

The first one will be being able to think I am doing something and taking control. That alone is a huge step.

There are many, many more NSVs to follow.

The week 5 run... It's the 20 mins non stop run right? Did you actually do it?!? I was looking thinking I could never imagine running for 10 mins let alone 20 mins!

SecretNameforMN · 25/08/2025 14:49

Oh gosh, so many replies, I don't know how to cite all the names, sorry.

I seem to have accidentally drip fed but I don't know if I should keep pointing out that the majority of my excess weight is caused by lipoedema, which I have reached a late and advanced stage. Maybe I should change my username to something like "LipoedemaMounjaro" as a permanent label.

I've watched a few videos about MJ and lipoedema and they are all favourable, partly because the injections reduce inflammation, and partly because it makes it easier to stick to an anti-inflammatory, very low carb diet by reducing the appetite and the urge to want snacks which are on the banned list like chocolate and crisps.

I must also have some normal fat in the parts of me unaffected by lipoedema, and am hoping to lose that.

SilenceInside · 25/08/2025 16:24

@mamabeeboo the sudden leap to 20 mins non-stop running is a bit of a shocker! I was worried about it, but managed it. The longest block to that point is 8 minutes, with a 5 min walk before doing it again. So I thought to myself that I would run for 8 minutes and probably manage 10, and then see how long I could carry on for. It's better to slow down and keep going at a jog if you can, rather than stop then walk. It's better to walk and then run again if you can, rather than walk the rest of the time. It's better to walk than to stop completely. If you don't do the full 20 minutes, it doesn't matter as you can repeat the week as many times as you need to until you get there.

I realised that I then preferred the solid chunk of running, rather than the stop starting, as it was simple and straightforward. I also realised that most of the issue for me is psychological, I see the timer and feel super daunted and want to stop immediately, but then I realise that it's not my body needing to stop but my brain that wants me to stop. So I find ways to distract myself and just keep turning my legs over. And I swear to myself a lot!

@SecretNameforMN I have also read that Mounjaro/Wegovy can help with lipoedema, not just with weight loss but with the inflammation reducing effects helping to reduce the lipoedema itself. I hope that's something that you start to see for yourself in the coming weeks, fingers crossed for you.

Autumnflowers2 · 25/08/2025 16:32

@SecretNameforMN ..please do weigh yourself when you start monjroro.
I didn't so I don't really know how much weight I've I've lost .
I weighed myself a few months before I started monjroro, but then was so upset I literally binged for two months solid , constant crisps..
Goodness knows how much I put on ,then I gave the doctor the weight I'd last weighed myself at ,as a start weight ..and sent photos ect .
I really regret not having a proper start weight .
You can do this
You are among friends xx

SilenceInside · 25/08/2025 16:48

I had a NSV today which I am quietly very proud of. I signed up ages ago, in February, to take part in an inflatable obstacle course thing with my eldest child. 300 metres of clambering through, over and under various obstacles including climbing up vertical climbs. When I got the tickets I thought that maybe I would get my DP to do it with my DS as I wasn't sure where I'd be in terms of fitness and weight loss. I was 14st 11lbs then. Today I am 12st 3lbs and managed the whole course without any issues, and enjoyed it! It was also 27 degrees today, full sunshine, and I didn't even get hot and sweaty which is some kind of mad witchcraft. And nobody looked askance at me, I wasn't the largest person on the course, I was just a standard adult going round accompanying their child.

It would have been impossible, absolutely, for me to even think about doing that kind of activity when I started on this whole Mounjaro process back in summer 2024.

mamabeeboo · 25/08/2025 17:53

@SilenceInside I'm glad that you felt that way. It's genuinely incredible to be able to do things you weren't able to do before. You should be so proud of yourself.
Once I lose the weight I'm interested in doing a mud run/tough mudder. It looks like so much fun!

Billybingbong · 25/08/2025 18:18

Well done @SilenceInside you should be so proud of yourself.

I've had a few little NSV'S this weekend. I've been out with DH and the dogs every morning on 5-6 mile walks. We've done fields, cliff tops & beach. We live in a beautiful part of the country, and I'm finally starting to appreciate it. Pretty heavy going in parts, and something I would not have even attempted a few months ago, but oh so worth it.

I also bumped into one of the neighbours, who did a literal double take, and told me I 'looked well' (code for 'you've lost weight but I'm too polite to say so)

And my 3rd NSV - I can now bend down and tie my laces without feeling like I'm cutting myself in half 😊

AlicesMum2025 · 25/08/2025 18:52

@SecretNameforMN your post could have been written by me four months ago. I felt all the anxiety related to the scale that you are feeling. In the end, I weighed in kg (and still do) because stones and pounds are just too loaded in my mind. I use the Nutracheck and Shotsy apps and set everything up to use metric and for the first six weeks or so I didn't dare look at the stones and pounds conversion. Once I started to lose weight I then braved it, and although I was horrified, that number is in the past now so it didn't have as much power.

I've never told anyone how much I weighed and I've never written it here either. I just focus on what I'm losing and doing now.

Whatever approach you want to take is correct. Don't feel like you have to do anything you don't want to do. Lean on this group for support but only tell us what you're comfortable with. All of us here have a lot of weight to lose and we understand how big an undertaking it is. But you've taken a huge step already by joining the group and ordering your MJ and I congratulate you for that

OvertiredandConfused · 25/08/2025 19:52

@SecretNameforMN I did weigh myself but I couldn’t bring myself to take any measurements. I bitterly regret it but I also keep reminding myself. I made that decision for a reason. When I weighed myself, I did what @AlicesMum2025 did and used kg because that doesn’t mean terribly much to me!

It’s days like today that I’m really glad I record my weight most days because it allows me to go back and track over a longer period of time. I’ve being despondent because it feels like my weight loss has been incredibly slow recently, but I’ve just calculated that I’ve lost 7.5lbs in a month (a calendar month, not four weeks). That’s a steady loss and I’d be perfectly happy for that to carry on for another couple of stone and then slow down even further.

Yesterday was jab day and suppression is definitely much stronger than it has been for a while so I’m hoping I might be back on a steady track. I’ve had some NSV with clothes too - I’ve finally gone down a full size in trousers and I’m actually pretty close to the next size. I’m three sizes down in tops and have packed away 3/4 of my wardrobe.

TragicMuse · 25/08/2025 21:19

I’ve been hunched over my laptop all weekend, writing up my dissertation - which is due next week!

I do keep thinking about some kind of exercise, maybe getting my bike out to cycle to work. I’ll see!

SilenceInside · 25/08/2025 21:26

I’ve just had an email from Asda asking for photos, so I hope that means that they will be able to fulfil the order, if they are satisfied with the pictures. They’ve changed the photo process since I last ordered with them. They want you to use their photo app to do the pictures now and they want to be able to see your stomach area unclothed, so wearing a bra top or cropped top. Not thrilled with that prospect but needs must!

I had to do that with CheqUp for my Wegovy pen, which was approved and will be despatched tomorrow.

SilenceInside · 25/08/2025 21:31

I am glad they check, but not thrilled at having to do it!

PearlsPearl · 25/08/2025 21:51

Good evening everyone, hope all had a nice bank holidays. It’s not one here in Scotland, but my work are UK based so had to give it to us! 😁

I am miserable AGAIN because I jabbed last night and have the sulphur burps again 😭😭 not as bad as last week but urgh. I only did 3.33 and now I regret not just going back to 2.5. The pepto bismol helps a bit, thank you to whoever recommended it to me.

@SecretNameforMN I echo the others. It’s just a number that you’ll never see again. My goals haven’t been weight focused. They were/are;

-to wear my wedding ring
-walk my dogs for 30 mins without stopping
-swim for 30 mins without stopping

First 2 done and 3rd one I’m working on. Did 23 mins straight today, personal best!

@SilenceInside hope you get your pen asap and I love your NSV. How wonderful to do ‘normal’ things with your DC like that. I dream of the day. ☺️

Doggymummar · 25/08/2025 22:23

Had a despatch note from oushk and a dhl one as well so hopefully pens on the way. Then to decide what to do microdose or carry on with 15

Yeah the 20 minute run. I did do it. You will too! The key to C25K is trusting the process. You can do it. You will do it and you'll be dead proud of yourself. As you should!

I can't wait to hear back from you jn 5 weeks about how elated you feel that you did it.
