@Iwouldratherbesinging @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I watched it too. I used to watch the show religiously and try to lose weight along with the contestants. Seeing the documentary now I can’t understand how I ever thought it was motivational. Heartbreaking is right.

GnomeDePlume · 23/08/2025 07:33

@SecretNameforMN no diarrhea for me. The slowed digestive transit took me a while to work out how to manage. It's not the same as constipation as it's simply food taking a lot longer to move through. Daily all-bran and psyllium husk plus plenty of fluids keep things moving for me.

My diet is so much healthier now. Lots of vegetables, some protein and much reduced carb. Blood tests this week so it will be interesting to see if these reflect the changes I have made.

We are up to visit DD and DSIL in the week and taking them out for dinner. It was funny looking at menus for restaurants and realising how little actually appealed. Not interested in pizza, pasta, loaded fries. Who is this alien living in my brain?

Mum2Fergus · 23/08/2025 09:44

SW (15 Feb 25): 19st 9lbs / BMI 44.4 (obese class 3)
CW: 15st 6lbs / BMI 34.9 (obese class 1)
GW: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 (8.3st-11st) for my height) - 4st 6lbs to go to get to top of healthy range.

Wk26 weigh in this morning (wk14 on 5mgs) … 4lbs off! 7lbs in total the past 2 weeks so delighted with this wee woosh. Given me more confidence that I can stick with 5mgs and not to have to move up given the price hike. It also takes me bang on obese class 1 having started on class 3!

I have revised pricing in from supplier (Boots) and they are offering a move to Wegovy if preferred (they have lowered price of it too) but think I’ll stick with MJ. Coming into autumn/winter I always move to soup based meal plans which are generally cheaper so as confident as I can be that I can suck up the difference in price.

I’ve lost 21% of my starting weight and averaging 2.3lbs loss per week over the 26 weeks.

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wks 9-12 (2.5mg): -11lbs
Wks 13-16 (5mg): -7lbs
Wks 17-20 (5mg): - 4lbs
Wks 21-24 (5mg): - 7lbs
Wk 25 (5mg): -3lbs
Wk 26 (5mg): -4lbs
Total loss: 59lbs

Can someone please show me 'the chart' mentioned on here for BMI? I've googled but there's a few different ones. Thank you!

PearlsPearl · 23/08/2025 10:12

@SecretNameforMN here's my lipoedema legs, they're stage 4. I also have it in my bum which has a massive shelf and upper arms. Like I said I've lost weight from my top half and forearms, but bottom half and upper arms haven't shifted a cm in 5 stone.

(Hidden image because of extremely old- 20 years+ self harm scars. Also, in undies for anyone who doesn't want to see that first thing in a morning! Blurred out very distinctive tattoo)

Ooh Pearl I have those drawers and am considering a similar colour for my bedroom!! I've seen pictures shared of Lipodema online before but I don't know enough about it to know if anything works once you have it? 5 stone is amazing loss 🎉.

When I got excited about being "on the chart" it's to do with when you enter your details on the NHS bmi chscker here -
https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-body-mass-index/calculate-bmi-for-adults

When over 40 it just tells you - or if under 40 it marks point. Like these from Jan this year and today for me.

Otherwise there are bmi charts in general.

I've work up feeling so nauseas. Not sure I'll be sick but dozed on and off and I've got things I need to do but I feel much better lying down. I feel SO sick.

I think it's the 10mg. Any advice? I want it to go away.

@Mum2Fergus Wow you've maintained a fab rate of loss. Mines slowed down completely. 😬. And I've gone upto 10 to try kick-start it. Great that's all on 5 too! Brilliant.

PearlsPearl · 23/08/2025 11:13

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden thanks for 'the chart'! I’m now 45.3, from 58.8.

I love the Hemnes range, we have the bedside tables too, but don't want the bed as it has an edge at the front and we both don't want that. We sit on the edge of the bed for various reasons so it'll just get in the way! So on the lookout for a nice white bed now.

Here's the paint job. It's a bright cheery light green. The room was a very dark navy before so it's totally different now. I changed my vibe 😁and it has plants hanging down from the corners, white curtains and is just so fresh and light, I love it.

Hope you feel better soon, feeling sick is rotten.

PearlsPearl · 23/08/2025 11:14

Oh and the only way to shift lipoedema is to have a specific type of liposuction. Which I am planning when I lose a lot more weight.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 23/08/2025 11:22

@PearlsPearl wow that room colour is beautiful ♥️. I have a lot of testers currently - everything in our house was done over years on a budget so no room ever got done. I'm determined to get painting "done"!! I've got the sage green sofa cover for our ikea sofa. I wanted the hemnes books shelves for our living room but we still have Billy. But I do have 2 of the drawers in my bedroom and love them!

I wondered if it needed surgery from vaguely remembering what I'd read about it - is that properly covered on NHS because it's a proper condition? Does it mean you'll lose weight everywhere else apart from the Lipodema pockets? Sorry if I'm asking too intrusive questions - feel free to ignore!

I think on of the things MJ has given me is Hope. And this group. I remember in January just reading people's stories gave me hope things could change and then being able to add to those stories is great! For me the extra side effect was inflammation /walking.

I don't think my future would be looking great without this. It would be a very different year.

(I still don't want to be nauseas and want to stop looking pregnant though 😂😂)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 23/08/2025 11:24

My husband has literally gone to B and Q to get ceiling paint and look at new light fitting and light pulls.. Starting from the ceiling in our bathroom but bathroom, bedroom, living room, kitchen and hallway all need paint and just tidying up - things like old light switches that got paint splashes, and light fittings that look a billion years old. They could be as we have had the house 20years...

PearlsPearl · 23/08/2025 11:29

Can't have it on the NHS sadly. It'll be private. Which is incredibly expensive. And yes, it's impossible to lose lipoedema fat as it's fibrotic and basically rock hard scar type fat now. But my legs are feeling softer, and walking is so so much easier so I know the general inflammation has eased. And all I wanted was more mobility so I’m really happy, the heavy legs feeling which was unbearable before is so much better now. I can walk the dogs for a solid 30 mins now when I could barely managed 5 mins without a sit down before.

TheZingyFish · 23/08/2025 11:43

@afaloren
Would you mind sharing what the prices are that you have been told by your provider, I’m trying to work out whether it is feasible to continue when they go up.

thanks for being brave enough to show your photo. My legs are much, MUCH bigger, wider, more misshapen, more swollen, and altogether wider than yours. My knee circumference is bigger than my sister's waist measurement. I am praying for SOME reduction in size but it sounds unlikely.

SilenceInside · 23/08/2025 12:04

I’m so cross…. The 10mg I just tried to order from Swift went out of stock as I tried to pay, meaning the payment didn’t go through and now it’s totally out again. 1 minute that took. Bastarding bastards.

Motnight · 23/08/2025 12:22

Can I just say that I love the decor discussions!

Appear to have lost 3 lbs this week, so a total of 92 lbs. I weigh every day as I realised that my weight can fluctuate over 24 hours.

My DH who is also overweight has expressed concern that I'm not eating enough. I think that he is wrong. I have one main meal a day, and no food is off limits. I eat until I am full. The rest of the day I usually eat fruit and yoghurt or cottage cheese, or cooked chicken or something like that. I still eat out and if I fancy 3 courses that's what I will choose!

My BMI is still over 35. For the last few months I have been losing around 5 lbs a month, so steady but not a vast amount. I can't work out if my husband has a point or if he is simply comparing my food intake to what it used to be and his still is. I have no intention of stopping Monjaro. But would really like my DH to stop telling me that I need to eat more.

afaloren · 23/08/2025 14:16

@PearlsPearl do you follow Leahhopehealth on Instagram? She’s going through the process of having her lipoedema removed after massive weight loss. She’s in America but it’s very interesting and she is lovely.

Today’s NSV: we are going through the spare room wardrobe of horrors and I was expecting to just sort my too-small clothes into sizes but I found some things that fit me now! 20s on the bottom and 18 on top. And when I was trying the tops on I could see that my size 22 jeans really are too big. Who would ever have thought? I was delighted to fit a size 22 in the first place!

afaloren · 23/08/2025 14:17

@TheZingyFish here’s a screenshot from the email they sent. Might take a minute for MN to approve the picture.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden weirdly I find sniffing an alcohol/injection wipe helps to clear nausea for me, or polos (I don’t sniff those…)

PositiveAttitude · 23/08/2025 14:48

Hi you lovely lot.

I confess to feeling overwhelmed with all your messages. Every day I read through and want to comment but I can't remember who said what and on my phone it is impossible to scroll to find names and then answer each individual, so I end up not writing anything!!! I am sorry!!
I am absolutely gob smacked at the huge weight losses from you. What an inspiration!! One day I hope to be able to post a figure of a loss half of what some of you have done.

If anyone is struggling to get a pen, I have just had a surprisingly easy time with e-surgery.
I normally get my pen from my local chemist and I got myself into a bit of a panic about having all my eggs in one basket and if he ran out of stock I would be totally stuck. So in a fit of panic at the beginning of the week, I went onto the e-surgery site, put an order in for my first 10mg pen - I had not even had my 1st jab of 7.5mg when I ordered.
10mg was £155. I did 10 because I worked out I could be "clever" with doses and eek it out using 5- 7.5mg doses.
I never thought I would be approved. New customer. New dose etc....
Anyway, it has just been delivered!!!! I am happy now. I am ok for the next few weeks until things settle down and then I will decide what to do and work out the best way to do it financially.

Thank you for sharing all your positivity and also the negatives - I can see that I am not alone.

On Monday it will be my 2 months on MJ. On the scales this morning I am showing a 2 stone loss, which I am very very happy with.

SaltAirAndTheRust · 23/08/2025 14:54

I’ve maintained this morning which is slightly better because it’s not an unexpected gain. I’ve focussed on hydration, it’s a rest day today so im off for a walk in a bit to get some gentle steps in

Doggymummar · 23/08/2025 15:06

Just spent the last few days with my toxic mother. We are extremely low contact and not seen her for 5 or six years. Spent the whole time pretty much in bed, diarrhoea vomiting and sweating same for other half. Purely psychological. On the train home and brightening up with every passing mile. Got moaned at for eating so little, asked if I had my stomach stapled. Oh sweated through three t shirts just today. Be glad to get home.

@afaloren what provider is that please? That is a scary hike in price isn’t it? Especially at the higher doses. I was thinking of slowly going up to 10 but I think I’ll try stay at 7.5:or even 8.25 for as long as possible.

@SilenceInside How frustrating. Do you have enough to last you or are you trying to get more at the current prices? My sister is with Asda and they are completely out of stock except for 2.5, even though she’d paid and had confirmed a 7.5, when she went to collect it today she was told the store pharmacy isn’t being sent anything other than 2.5, and she’d need a new prescription for that anyway. She has two more weeks left of her 5mg pen after this weekend. I think the companies have handled it really badly. They should have ensured current patients got their next 2 months pens and not allowed any stockpiling from anyone especially those who weren’t patients. I’m with Zava and so far they’ve been ok. Existing patients only, and I’ve had a message that the 10mg pen is in stock and will be sent to me by month end. But then again, that’s what my sister was told by Asda, so who knows. I’ve got two months though in the fridge so I’m ok. But the prices are scary. I’m definitely going to do the “golden dose”, I’m not chucking £50 away!

Im sorry. I had a mum like that too. Both her and my dad died (2008/2011) and I although I felt sad about it, it was grief like she was a distant aunty and my husband says I’m so much better mentally now I don’t have to deal with either of them. I grieved more when my dad died, but it was more grief and upset for the parents I didn’t have, and would never have. Because no matter how bad they are, you hope this time you see them they might have changed. But of course, they don’t. I can’t honestly say I miss them, which is awful isn’t it. I have a great relationship with my son, partly because I tried to be the opposite of my parents.
