The body composition is interesting to think about.

I can't imagine being a size 8 😱😱😱😱
That is phenomenal 🥳
What was your starting dress size? How do you feel?

I was 270lb, size 24. Now 160lb. To be honest my head hasn't really caught up. I still order the wrong size clothes, shoes too much food etc.

I was 282lb and size 24.

I'm now 172lb and size 10/12 depending on the style and make of the clothes.

I've gone from a size 44K bra down to a 36G.

And I'm still OBESE according to the stupid BMI scale

Doggymummar · 18/08/2025 21:24

I'm still obese to according to Bmi, nuts isn't it. I didn't wear bras when bigger just xxl crop tops. I wfh and don't socialise! My 34 ff are too big now and my crop tops are sml. It's nuts.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne body shape/composition is fascinating. I’m the same weight as you, 172lbs, and I’m a 14/16 at the moment. Size 14 tops fit, but my waist and hips/bum still need a 16 in most clothes. I have some size 14 leggings that fit. My bra size has gone from a 44D to a 36B.

I must be taller than you I think, as my BMI is 28 so overweight rather than obese.

Kay2000 · 18/08/2025 21:57

I started at a size 26/28 (rapidly getting rather too tight) and I’m now comfortably in a 24, have lost 3st 8lb and my BMI has gone from 53 to 44. I bought a dress from Sainsbury’s today as it was pretty and cheap (reduced to £14!) in a size 24, and didn’t think it would fit my boobs as they haven’t shrunk much. And it fits easily 😁. They only had a size 6 and a 24, didn’t think I’d ever get into a 6, I’m pretty sure my skeleton on its own is a size 12!! I don’t have huge weight loss ambitions - I want to wear a size 16/18 comfortably and I think that’ll be around a ten stone loss for me. I’m hoping that’ll be a sustainable weight for me long term. And that was a size I liked being, although sadly I don’t think I’ll ever get the hourglass shape back,(too old, too droopy, too saggy 😂)

Well - we've always agreed that BMI is bollocks.

@SilenceInside I'm 5' 3".

I wore a T-shirt tucked into a skirt today, don’t think I’ve done that since I was a toddler! 😂 I didn’t recognise myself. I’m now 178lbs, size 16 (just) in bottoms but a generous 18 top, bra has gone from a 44H to a 36/38 G depending on the brand. They’re definitely droopy, I’ll be folding/rolling them into my bra soon.

GnomeDePlume · 19/08/2025 07:43

When I look at body shape guides for how to dress different shapes I dont see my shape. As I am losing weight it is becoming more focused on my middle. No waist, not much bust, not much in the way of hip shape. My legs are stocky, not shapely.

As I got bigger I steered clear of anything fitted so most of the clothes I made were big and shapeless. On the plus side this does mean I will have a lot of fabric to use when I start to re-purpose them. I might look at some of the Youtube videos on how to take shirts in (I made a lot of shirts).

Mum2Fergus · 19/08/2025 09:16

Sneaky mid week weigh in this morning (as the scales were lying out while cleaning bathroom lol), I’m down exactly 4st since starting 25 weeks ago! Just need to keep it off for ‘official’ weigh in on Saturday!

I've lost 5 stone and gone from a size 24 .... to a size 24. Hmmm! My face is thinner and my tops are a bit baggier on the belly but that's it. Don't have a clue where I've supposedly lost it from. A stone from each cheek perhaps?

I've lost 6st 2lb and gone from a 22 to a 20 in bottoms, I'm comfortably in 18 tops. However I tend to wait until clothes are falling off and then buy more so with smaller sizes I might end up skipping sizes or only being in them a short while. I also wear a lot of dresses which don't tend to fall off just get a bit baggier.

PearlsPearl · 19/08/2025 12:18

I’m a bit upset 😢

I took my second 5mg on Sun, and started burping a bit yesterday. They didn’t taste great. Today they’re worse. I’m at work and paranoid about the smell.

I really really didn’t want the sulphur burps people talked about 😢 I’m not super surprised as I’m only pooing every 5/6 days 🙈 so I know food is just sat there, but I’ve not had them til now.

What can I do?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 19/08/2025 12:18

I saw the practice nurse today for an unrelated reason, and we talked about BMI, especially in reference to older women (I'm 69).

She thought that aiming for about 27 BMI was more sensible, and I entirely agree with her.

That means I only need to lose about 18lb now. Nearly there.

I should get there by Christmas.

Will you stay on a maintenance dose then ?

SilenceInside · 19/08/2025 12:20

@PearlsPearl peppermint tea, or peppermint capsules. Lots of people suggest Pepto-Bismol but I haven't tried that myself.

I think so, yes.
I'll set what happens.
I have a feeling I'll need to.
I think that those of us who are very overweight will need to.

Ok I’ll buy peppermint tea. I bought a bottle of Pepto-bismal when I went on the jabs just in case but haven’t needed to use it. I’ll break it out tonight. Thanks.

unpleasant 😞

They are yucky, luckily only had once. People talk about peppermint capsules, peppermint tea. I chewed Airwaves gum.

PearlsPearl · 19/08/2025 12:36

@Doggymummar how long did they last for you?

Now thinking I should finally get a grip on this constipation as it can’t be helping. But the fibrogel made me heave, and I could barely swallow the Movicol. I have 3 prunes and 3 apricots a day, 2/3 coffees, fibre gummies.

SilenceInside · 19/08/2025 12:44

@PearlsPearl some people find kiwi fruit are good, 2 a day if you can manage them, as they contain soluble and insoluble fibre. If you can eat the skin, apparently that's even better, although I can't manage that. Some people find the skin on golden kiwis manageable, and eat them like apples. I just eat them with a teaspoon like a boiled egg!

PearlsPearl · 19/08/2025 12:48

Oh I love golden kiwis, I’ll definitely go and get some from m&s after work. Thanks! Not sure I could bear to eat the skin though 😁

afaloren · 19/08/2025 13:00

@PearlsPearl I find raspberries really help get things moving. I have a large handful every day. They are very high in fibre so make sure you are drinking enough liquids.

TragicMuse · 19/08/2025 13:38

More pants of joy today!

I’ve not had sulphur burps but I do have a horrid taste at the back of my throat, where my nose cavity is. Nothing really shifts it. It goes for a day sometimes then comes back. Yuck.

That is interesting (and well done for being so close).

I do wonder at the insistence of 'healthy BMI' when the closer you get to it the more individual what a healthy weight is becomes. We aren't all the same body shape.

Something I have noticed with
parents is how quickly a bout of ill health can result in them losing a lot of weight very quickly. After a fall my DM lost about 4 stone in as many months. DMIL similar. They both had plenty of 'spare' so they could afford the weightloss. When DF got ill he had no spare and quickly became skeletal.

IMO a little 'padding' is no bad thing to cushion against life's vicissitudes.
