Hi everyone, sending a collective hug. I was due to order, Zava had sent me a reminder so I’ve just put an order in for a dual set of 7.5 and 10, I have a new pen to start this week. So that’s 3 months I’ll have, not sure if stocks will last to order another lot before Sept 1st, Zava are limiting it to existing customers only.

🤬 Trump. My husband says not to panic, we’ll cut down on other things and continue to buy it. But I do feel guilty about that. But fortunate that we are ok enough right now to afford some increase. But that could change any moment as hubby is self employed and we know we’re only one illness away from him not being able to work. So I need to crack on and try harder to stick to a diet 7 days a week not 4.

My GP had a notice up that in order to get it on the NHS not only do you have to be very obese, you have to have four of several listed health conditions, and I currently only have one, high blood pressure. It’s so shortsighted as if we can’t lose weight, we will get sicker, costing the NHS more in the long run, and MJ is helping us in this thread so much to stick to less food. It’s not vanity, it’s health!

Just wanted to also add, I can’t see any reason why Wegovy won’t also increase in price, so don’t rush to swap.

I thought wegovy is from denmark so won't be affected by trumps hissy fit....

I think he’s more having a go at the whole pharmaceutical industry for charging America more? Not just those manufacturers in the US, and many Americans buy Wegovy too.

God I cant stand that man. I guess you would hope he has less influence over European companies than American ones - what can he actually do to a Danish drugs company if they just ignore him?!

I don’t think this is the time or place for political blame. I would bet my house that no party in the UK would do what you suggest if they were in government, this isn’t a Labour problem, they aren’t a player here.

From what I’ve read, the increase is to match Europe, because we had better prices.

GnomeDePlume · 15/08/2025 08:16

Sorry, off the main topic of the day but I had to share an NSV. I tried on the jeans I am making and they fit! Yes, they are still a plus size but they are a 'normal' plus size and not the biggest size I could have made from the pattern.

Anyway, as you were.

EverybodysALebowski · 15/08/2025 08:27

Leaving aside the comment about 'Labour helping everybody else but Brits' as not getting into that.

Trump's push is not going to help one single American have lower prices on drugs. The reason for the cost difference between UK and US is because of the complexity of private insurers and big pharma, and Americans have gotten used to expecting high prices for drugs so the market there will sort of bear it. They'll just see it's shit for us too now and their prices won't go down at all. The only people who will benefit from this are Trump for this economic theatre claiming he's putting Americans first and the pharma companies whose share prices rose yesterday and whose profits will continue to rise. And those pharma gains will flow right back into Republican pockets through donations.

I do not care for Wes Streeting one bit but he has been advocating and pushing hard on increased use of these weight loss medications by the NHS, so your logic doesn't hold there either. The price hasn't increased for the NHS itself so hopefully they'll continue to increase access and we can hope that as better drugs and potentially cheaper drugs become available they'll be prescribed more widely on the NHS. That doesn't help much today when we're all feeling the impact of this rise, of course.

Elle771 · 15/08/2025 08:40

Would anyone consider switching to Wegovy if prices on MJ go high and they stay at current rate?
Ive never looked into wegovy as been happy on MJ but with another 8 stone to lose I'm thinking just coming off everything isnt going to be an option.. nor is paying £250+ either tho!

Obvs will see how things play out after September, I just hope there's something on offer that is affordable as know I've not a chance of losing that amount going cold turkey now!!

My provider have said they will support anyone wanting to move to Wegovy, and I am definitely considering it. I have a similar amount left to lose, and there is absolutely no way I can do it alone, nor can I afford the price hike. My provider has published their new prices, and even as one of the cheapest ones, they are still eye watering

PearlsPearl · 15/08/2025 08:50

Morning everyone. I feel a bit better after the shock of yesterday. Had a good cry and now have woken up feeling determined to just carry on with my journey. I’ll find the money somewhere, I can work an extra day at work if need be. I can’t and won’t give up now, it is changing my life and that means sticking with it. And as was said above, giving it 100% and really getting my moneys worth.

I won’t get into the politics really because I find it absurd that a) anyone could possibly defend Trump in any way and b) blame Labour?! Baffling. And c) the timing is shit when people are reeling from the emotional impact of it.

NSV ALERT!! 🚨

DW took me through a weights session last night (she’s a babe) and some of it was on the floor. Then afterwards I just… got up off the floor? Without any stress or pushing on the floor? Just stood up. I was so gobsmacked I sat back down three times and did it again 😁😁😁😁

That is so completely amazing! Talk about NSVs.

Kay2000 · 15/08/2025 09:27

Morning all. In the thread on the price increase someone in Australia has said how much they pay for a 7.5 pen - equivalent to £280 a month, so it sounds like we’ve been benefiting from lower prices. Ell Lilly could just - and I know this is a radical idea - reduce their prices, but we know pharmaceuticals don’t care about helping the people they make the drugs for, just making profits.

I don’t want to swap to Wegovy. The reason I chose MJ was because it has fewer side effects and I was so concerned about them it took me a year to decide to try it. If only I’d tried a year earlier, I’d be at my target right now… 🙄

I’ll wait to see if Zava fulfills my order from last night, I hope so, as I start a new pen this weekend so only have 4 more weeks in stock. I ordered a 7.5 and a 10 dual pack, to give me the option of an increased dose in two months time. And I need to look into the “golden dose” thing, to get every bit out - that could be £50 worth left!

Kay2000 · 15/08/2025 09:30

GOLDEN DOSE

Can someone please point me towards the syringes and needles required? And describe how you get every last bit out of a pen. I’ve seen it in previous threads but no idea where now. Thank you.

Lds1 · 15/08/2025 09:32

I will be under 30bmi for my next order, so I wouldn't qualify for them anymore.

I'm just going to carry on with the pens I have coming and hopefully the supplier I moved to yesterday (planning for maintenance which I needed to do as well anyway, could kick myself now for not doing it sooner) can send me one before the prices increase. I'm just under 4 stone from mid BMI, I really don't want to stop now when I've got this far.

I'm roughly 2.5stone from healthy BMI so if that's as far as I get then it might have to do!

I use these ones:

BD Micro-Fine+ 29G 1ml Syringes | Needles & Syringes | MediSupplies Link

BD Micro-Fine+ 29G, 1ml Syringes

BD Micro-Fine+ 29G, 1ml Syringes. Graduated in 2 unit intervals, for doses over 50 units

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/08/2025 09:45

To extract the final dose @Kay2000

You just put the needle through the plunger and slowly withdraw the MJ.

You'll get a few bubbles and you tap the syringe so they come to the top, then you depress the needle and return the bubbles to the pen.

You'll find that there's 0.8ml of MJ left in each pen. That's one full dose, plus a third of it.

For example:

0.6ml from my 15mg pen is obviously 15mg of MJ.

There's 0.2ml also there. From my 15mg pen, that's another 5mg MJ.

You can microdose. You don't use the full 0.8ml from a 15mg pen. That would be 20mg.

What strength pen are you on?

I got this email from provider this morning. I’ve not gone any higher than 5mgs in my 25 week journey - was thinking of moving up at next order but will now need to make decision based on what provider prices are.

You may have heard that the price of Mounjaro is increasing from 1 September 2025. This price change has come directly from Mounjaro's manufacturer, Eli Lilly, and applies to all healthcare providers in the UK.

We know you will have questions about what this means for you. We are actively reviewing our prices going forward and will be in touch as soon as we have more information to share with you.

We would like to assure you that supporting you through your weight loss journey remains our number one priority and our team of clinicians are here to support you through any changes you may choose to make to your plan in the future.

Why has the price increased?

Eli Lilly has said that its price increase brings the UK in line with Europe and other developed countries. Healthcare providers and pharmacies across the UK, including Boots Online Doctor, access the medicine through wholesalers. This means when the manufacturing price changes, the price you and other patients pay can also change.

How much will the price change be and when will it come into effect?

There are six strengths of Mounjaro, with different wholesale prices, and all will be impacted by Eli Lilly’s price increases. No prices will change before 1 September 2025.

All UK providers will be affected by these price increases.

What does this mean for patients?

We are actively review our pricing and will be in touch as soon as we have more information to share with you. We always do our best to keep our Mounjaro pricing as accessible as possible. We offer other weight loss treatment options, including Wegovy, which may be a more affordable alternative for some patients. If this applies to you, we'll support your weight loss journey at every stage, whether that includes a change in treatment or otherwise.

Quite right.

Posts with a political bias really have no place on our support thread.

GnomeDePlume · 15/08/2025 10:07

Eli Lilly are price gouging in the UK because they can.

But it does make me wonder if this is because there are newer drugs which will be coming along quite soon. They need to make their big profits now because mounjaro will become old news.

Effective weightloss treatment has been a bit of a cinderella market. Nothing really worked: diet clubs, meal plans even surgery.

EL have got the patent for tirzepatide but there is more to come.

Fffreeeeezing · 15/08/2025 10:08

5 month MJ anniversary today and am 2lb down this week bringing me to a total loss of 4st 7lb. BMI down to 49.3 (started at 59.7).

Just had my first 10mg jab and hoping that will help pick my losses up, feel like I'm plateauing a bit at the moment (1lb in 2 weeks) and I 'feel' bigger 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm still tracking every calorie and my macros (140g of protein, less than 120g of carbs) and am staying well under 1600cals, usually somewhere between 1300 and 1500 a day. Drinking 4litres + of water a day, exercising (what I can do anyway with a knee injury) and no side effects.
I don't know what else I can change other than dropping cals lower and I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Any words of wisdom? feel like I need some because I'm a bit fed up

Kay2000 · 15/08/2025 10:09

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne thanks so much, I think that’ll be helpful for many of us trying to get every last £ out of the pen going forward. I’m on 7.5 and have ordered a dual pack of 7.5 and 10.

You’re doing fine, better than I am (3.5 stone in 8 months). It is a slow process to lose a lot of weight. I’ve slowed down but was losing half a stone a month, and you’re doing almost double that. Just keep going, the weight will come off.
