I think one of the studies show people regained 17% of their weight in 12 weeks of it or soemthing similar.

I don't know how easy it will be to come off compeltely

I think my price might be fixed to Xmas but I'll still be obese then. I assumed this would be a 2 year journey (ie xmas 2026) and then need maintenance of some description.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/08/2025 18:15

I guess too in America many people have it through insurance whereas the NHS isnt offering it to manyn

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 18:24

It’s hard not to get caught up in the panic about this. On other threads people are frantically ordering pens from multiple suppliers and reporting places that are out of stock or restricting the number of pens you can order, or restricting them to existing customers…..

I am trying to remain calm. I don’t think I can reorder from any of my previous suppliers as the gap has been too long, and I can’t reorder with Swift due to them wanting at least 2 weeks between orders. I have 3 doses from my current pen, and 5 from the next one, so I’ve got 8 weeks supply. Surely that should be ok! And surely I will be able to order a pen after next week?!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/08/2025 18:26

I can't multiple order but I think I might have some protection until Xmas. We really struggle financially. No point me worrying about it today but it will be a huge worry for us.

Here’s an interesting view of the studies - people only quote the results and not why they might have failed! https://www.helenblighcoaching.co.uk/glp1-weight-regain-trials-myth.html

Helen Bligh Coaching - 1. The GLP-1 Clinical Trials Weight Regain Myth

GLP-1 trials showed regain - but they left out key factors. Here’s what the research missed, and how to know if your body is actually ready to stop.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/08/2025 18:41

Hmm but that still talks about readiness and biology. I imagine most of us on this group have messed up hormones /hunger signals/insulin/whatever it is MJ regulates. For me the effect on inflammation was obvious within weeks.

I just am not convinced for me at least. Maybe those with only a couple of stone to lose who cna make "lifestyle choices" but those of us who've battled this for years and years I'm not so sure. I think Oprah compared it to blood pressure medication and when you stop it it increases.

I truly hope we can all manage without but I strongly suspect that for myself at least it's something biological.

GLP1Girl · 14/08/2025 18:43

That what all the Drs in the US say - I’ve come off my BO meds though. And loads of people reverse their diabetes without diet. I think the mindset piece makes a big difference

GLP1Girl · 14/08/2025 18:45

They wouldn’t make as much money if they didn’t keep their patients on long-term!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/08/2025 18:48

I do see that. And so many people on MJ are truly losing 2-3stone and I believe could manage with other means.

I will have lost 50% of my weight when I get to a healthy bmi. I am sure my set point won't have adjusted that far down. I truly think I need to be on it for years. The difference it has made in 7 months is beyond belief and I have no reason to believe the things I was trying before Jan will suddenly work now.

I need to be realistic.

Lds1 · 14/08/2025 19:02

Well this put a downer on my day!

I've ordered with existing supplier as I needed to anyway, I also needed to move to a maintenance provider so I've set up an account elsewhere too.

I'm hoping I can get close to goal with my new ordered pens and then hopefully won't need too many more expensive pens.

I hope then I can go to maintenance and I can start going down the doses so it'll be more expensive but hopefully less often.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/08/2025 19:09

It's kicked me into gear that I don't have time to waste and my slow losses of 2lbs a week is going to cost me

Wow, losses of 2lb a week aren't slow.

I'm losing about 3lb a month now.

SilenceInside · 14/08/2025 19:27

I’ve got to step away from discussing this price hike and reading posts about it. I can feel my levels of stress about this rising and that isn’t good for self control around food for me! I think an offline evening and try to put things I can’t change to one side is needed.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 14/08/2025 19:50

What I’m confused about is that Eli lilley do not supply uk pharmacies directly. They go through wholesale distributors, so negotiating needs to be carried out between supplier - distributor - pharmacy, so no one knows what the prices are going to be and as everyone only found out today it’s all speculation because of the figures Eli lilley posted. For example, Oushk told their customers what prices would be after the increase, but how would they know? I’ll admit my knowledge around buying/selling/distribution is zero!

sending you a virtual hug @SilenceInside, you are usually the rock of this group x

PearlsPearl · 14/08/2025 20:15

I have to admit to having a cry on DW tonight. I am worrying endlessly and feel sick about it.

I considered stockpiling pens tonight - but say I got 3 x 7.5mg pens - in 4 months time when I run out of pens, nowhere will give me another 7.5. They'll say the gap is too wide and put me down to 2.5 as I can't very well say I stockpiled can I?

PearlsPearl · 14/08/2025 20:16

So sorry to everyone worrying and to @SilenceInside who is a great source of knowledge and comfort on these boards.

I'm truly miserable. Even with the 5th dose I struggle to afford it as it is. And I had planned to have 2 years on mj, then assumed maintenance afterwards.

If you keep the boxes with the prescription label, from the date they would be able to see you had 12 weeks of medication to last the 12 week order gap.

I've ordered 2 at a time and then ordered again 7 weeks later but that's always been same supplier so they can see that in my records

Doggymummar · 14/08/2025 20:43

It is very worrying for us all. And totally out of our control. As I am currently unemployed it's a huge outlay for me already but after two and a half years I don't want to stop so close to my goal. I placed an order but Oushk are now out of stock and don't know if they will get anymore in, so will have to see if it's honoured. It's very short notice

Ok. I've panic bought anyway, 2 pens. 1 each from 2 of the providers I've already bought with. I'm on 5mg but I've bought 7.5s and will stretch them out.

I don't know if the orders will go through. And I know I'm being part of the problem, panic buying, but what am I to do? Can't just sit here crying.

I've just started a 5mg pen and will take 5 doses out of it, I have another 5mg in the fridge, then hopefully the 2 7.5s coming.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/08/2025 21:36

My pen was due anyway, so I've just ordered it.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/08/2025 21:50

I'm on 15mg and have been for ages.

I was thinking of going down to 12.5mg anyway, to see if my suppression was okay.

I've only got about 18lb to lose now or thereabouts.

So I'm going to take 12.5mg from the 15mg pen and see how things go.

It'll last longer, but I can carry on ordering on time (every four weeks) and will have a few pens in hand fairly soon.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 14/08/2025 22:13

I’ve just managed to place an order with a previous supplier for 15mg, fingers crossed it’ll go through. I’ve stuck it on a credit card 😏. I can’t place another order with my current supplier until the 19th August as there has to be a minimum of two weeks between orders. Fingers crossed I get both pens, that’ll give me three spare and I’ve 3 doses left in my current pen.
Im heart broken for my neighbour as well, she literally started on her first pen yesterday and was so excited to get started, I’ll have to go and check in on her tomorrow.
sleep well all x

Billybingbong · 14/08/2025 22:23

So for anyone with Medicine Marketplace, here's their new prices from 1st September

2.5 - £137
5 - £178
7.5 - £215
10 - £239
12.5 - £251
15 - £271

Considering that their prices have always been some of the lowest, I dread to think what all the other providers will now be charging ☹️

mamabeeboo · 14/08/2025 22:24

I've also built up a small stash of pens over the months of ordering every 3-4 weeks but using 5th dose. I've ordered another 2 pens from different suppliers and in higher doses which takes me into Feb. I'll lose as much weight as I can until then and I feel like I have bought myself some time.

I might be part of the supply problem but learned the hard way that we need to think of ourselves. With another 6 stone weightloss to go until I am "overweight" , I'm not in a position to be righteous and concerned for supply so that someone else can lose 2 stone to "feel better" when I have been obese since childhood.

TheZingyFish · 14/08/2025 22:36

Feeling quite deflated at the moment. Was due to order a new pen at the beginning of week when did 3rd dose from pen but as am away had worked that could order at weekend so arrived beginning of next week as away again from mid week next week. Am now worried whether I’ll be able to get anything and don’t have a stash in the fridge already and not have I just 2 stone to lose.

Part of me is thinking I may just not bother as I won’t be able to afford the newer rumoured prices as was a stretch at the current and was using price matching to afford things. Still, at least I hadn’t thrown out my clothes.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/08/2025 23:22

I'm not going to worry about this.
A couple of things will happen, I think.

There will be a sudden rush of panic buying.

Things will settle down, and then there will be a supply but it'll be much more expensive. Those that can afford it will continue to buy it, so the supply will be there.

Others will choose to go on Ozempic or Wegovy. At some point, the tablet form of GLP1 will be launched.

There will continue to be a black market in Mounjaro. It was ever thus.
