Hope I’ve done this right, I’ve never started a thread before.

@qs90 hope you don’t mind me starting a new one for us but thread 4 was full and I don’t want to lose my crew!

Yes @saxonyv - I thought I had a lower back problem....turns out i dont, it was all weight related. I never have any back pain anymore. I also no longer get pins and needles - which makes me think I probably had a pretty significant circulation issue going on! So lots of NSV's! :)

SaddlebagSal · 18/09/2025 12:14

On the subject of NSVs, I need some new leggings as my old ones are looking very wrinkly and unattractive now. I usually buy Seasalt ones as they are lovely and thick and last for ages, however I’m not willing to pay their prices when I’m still changing shape and size, so I ended up buying some cheap ones from Sainsbury’s last night. And I fit an L now rather than XXL!

To explain just why this pleased me so much, I’ve always been “big” by society standards, and when much younger and an “old” size 16 I would be scrabbling round TopShop and Dorothy Perkins as the biggest size they did was a 16 and they weren’t always available in all the ranges. Then I got a bit bigger to old size 20 and only M&S and Evans clothes fitted me, and to be honest I lost interest in clothes and fashion. I just aimed for “presentable”.

Now many more women are as big as I used to be, if not bigger and retailers are catching up with fashionable clothing for larger sizes. And now I’m no longer rummaging at the back of the rail for the biggest size but somewhere in the middle!

We mentioned up thread about our minds catching up with our bodies and still perceiving ourselves as fat, I think this is another symptom. Looking at nice clothes and thinking “that will never fit/suit me”.

So interesting about the lower back pain. Been in bed a lot the last few days as unwell, and was just thinking today "why isn't my back hurting more?" That makes sense.

Thanks for all the kind wishes for reaching goal - it means a lot 😊

my scales link to my Fitbit which records all steps/exercise and yesterday I didn’t walk the dog and only did about 3k steps. My calories burned were only 1,581 😮. So need c1k calories to lose weight 😖. Today I have done 16k steps and burned 2,104 calories which is much better. TDEE is a right pita once you get to goal!!

well done @Mumof2studentnurse for KOKO - losses may have staked a bit but you’ve done brilliantly and the scales WILL move again soon I’m sure x

weigh day tomorrow but I’ve had crispy duck pancakes tonight so I’m not too hopeful for a loss 🙈

saxonyv · 19/09/2025 06:42

@WinterOnItsWayOut can I ask how you manage calorie intake wrt to exercise please?
are you using maintenance calorie goals or still on a loss cal number? Do you ‘eat’ your exercise calories whilst on maintenance?

I don’t track fitness as such, I have been putting my lifestyle as sedentary/light as I don’t walk much or use the gym but I’m a teacher in Early years so I do rack up the steps to at least 7-10k most days.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 19/09/2025 07:14

@saxonyv - my goal was 10.5 but that’s still 24.5 BMI so I am looking towards 10 stone before I finish MJ fully and go to maintenance without it 😬

I don’t adjust food on a daily basis depending on calories burned and have probably been eating around 1400 a day. My ‘normal’ calories burned is around 1900 with 10K steps (per my Fitbit which knows my weight, height, fat %, heart rate & exercise, sleep etc) so I assume it is pretty accurate.

i do intermittent fasting and only eat between 11 and 7 generally.

I don’t do loads of exercise other than daily walk with the dog, although live in a hilly area so do get some periods of higher cardio activity. I also walk with wrist weights so do arm exercises pretty much daily as I walk.

my weight loss has really slowed so I’m not sure what maintenance will be but suspect not much more than I’m eating now which doesn’t feel like much!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 19/09/2025 07:19

You can see Weds was pretty low as only 3k steps but average over a month and year are pretty consistent. I’ve averages just over 10k steps a year so far.

Sorry for multiple spam 🙈. Today is official weigh day and I’ve stayed at 10.5 which I’m ok with as it’s been really stable this week rather than the usual 2-3lb daily fluctuations. One more graph which is my journey this year which you can see has really tapered off loss wise even though I don’t think I’ve eaten much differently throughout other than one holiday in late June and one in early august.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 19/09/2025 07:33

Oh, and as a NSV I have a pair of Hobbs size 10 jeans bought about 11 years ago and never worn (still got tags on!) and I squeezed into them last night 🙌. Rather a muffin top so couldn’t wear with a tight top so my goal is to wear them without spilling over the waistband 🤣

Pepperwaggytail · 19/09/2025 08:00

I’ve just had a lovely catch up reading all your posts😊 such good news that there are even more weight loss drugs on the horizon. We will get there!

Having said that, I’ve definitely put a couple of pounds back on, and not going to lie, I’m feeling mild panic! There’s definitely something going on hormonally because my boobs are a bit swollen (def NOT pregnant!)

My head is all over the place and all the old negative messages are spinning round my brain again. I think I’m going to jab tomorrow which is a day early and see if that gets it off again. I know there are a million reasons why I could have gained weight including muscle and water weight. I guess this will be the trials and tribulations of maintenance hey? I might need a base dose of 2.5 every 5 days rather than 7 days. I also might need to increase my dose to stay the same weight 😒

On a more positive note I ordered a top online in a size S and when it arrived I looked at it and thought no way is that going to fit… it’s actually perfect and looks great 😎 My head has definitely not caught up yet!

I also tried the app MeThreeSixty that someone recommended on here - it’s a bit faffy doing the body scan (you have to listen carefully to the instructions!) but I was pleasantly surprised with my profile scan (I’ll attach a photo) and I really wish I’d been doing these regularly as I lost weight. I thought I had loads more back fat than I actually do. I was wearing a tight running bra and a pair of exercise leggings when I did it. I’m going to use it to keep tracking as I go forward. It also magically takes your measurements! So clever!

Wk 26 day 1 5mg

SW 13st 7lb
CW10st 6lb
GW 10st 7lb

BMI 22.4

Total lost 3st 1 lb

I hit goal this morning!!! 🥳 🍾 It’s felt slow but I realise since going up to 5mg six weeks ago I’ve lost a stone which is very fast considering I’m now a ‘healthy’ BMI.

So time to initiate maintenance plan - I jabbed this morning and have two more doses of current 5mg pen. I’m not going to change anything this week as we’ve got a 5 day mini break with friends for a wedding next weekend and I imagine the scales will be up again after that! Once that’s over I’m going to finish this pen then I think go down to 3.75mg. I’ve been exhausted on 5mg so will be glad to see the back of it!!

@Pepperwaggytail please don’t worry - it’s so normal to see fluctuations on the scale but I understand your fears - I’m so scared it’s all going to disappear now I’ve hit goal!

@WinterOnItsWayOut i need to up my steps 1900 seems like a really good calorie allowance for maintenance! I don’t count but reckon I’ve lost on around 1300/1400

Squiffy01 · 19/09/2025 18:51

@Incognitoburrito88 Congratulations on getting to goal!!! That is amazing!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 20/09/2025 09:21

Congratulations @Incognitoburrito88- it’s a great feeling! 🥳. My new target is about 22 BMI and you’re there already 👏 👏

Galadali · 20/09/2025 11:28

Congratulations @Incognitoburrito88! And all the other goal weight superstars. I honestly can't imagine ever reaching goal. It still seems such a long slow journey.
I've only lost 1 lb over the past month, despite keeping up with 1200 kcal pd, gym 3x pw. The only thing I can think of is drinking far less water now the weather is cooler, so this weeks goal is to force more water down.

I've been focusing on NSVs though. Firstly, I am enjoying seeing progress at the gym. Secondly, despite still being a pound or two into the obese category I am now buying (and wearing) Medium/size 14 clothes! I think I was a teenager last time I was anything smaller than a 16. Still scared to chuck all my bigger sizes out though, just in case ...

knackredd · 20/09/2025 12:19

I was stuck for a month on same weight despite being on 7.5 - but I had been on back to back holidays, social events and weddings for 6 weeks so no surprise - but after a week home I have dropped 2kg.

I got 3.75 out of the bonus dose in the 7.5mg pen 2 weeks ago but messed up the final 3.75 so I am now going to use my 5mg pen - was thinking either 5mg every two weeks or 2.5 every week - does anyone have any thoughts?

I have had less suppression and little bits of hunger since my 3.75 dose 2 weeks ago … def no food noise or cravings so that’s a good sign.

Has anyone a good link to somewhere where micro dosing ? maintenance strategies are discussed? As I suspect especially in the US that there is a most common approach?

TheCaloricDecline · 20/09/2025 14:33

Started 4th Apr 25,
SW 217lbs,
CW 183.2 lbs - 33.8lbs 16% of my body weight,
BMI now 29.8 woop!
GW 18.2lbs left until goal....

Been on 3.75mg for 6 weeks now, and 2.5mg before that.

Clothes are fitting better, I am having to keep pulling my trousers up all the time, really need to get a smaller size but in my head I am still too big!

Pepperwaggytail · 21/09/2025 10:19

@Incognitoburrito88 Well done! 😊
The challenge is staying there as we are all finding out.

knackredd
I would suggest you dose lower and more often so maybe 2.5 every 5 -7 days. This seems to work for me. Every 7 days might work better for you.

After putting a couple of pounds on I took my weekly dose two days early this week and I’ve dropped 1.5lb already. I don’t know if it was water weight or what, but maybe this will be my pattern? I’m great at losing weight but maintaining is whole new territory (as I suspect it is for all of us on here!) For me weighing daily is the answer, and tweaking my diet/ dose as needed.

I think (I know 😒) I will need a weight management strategy for the rest of my life and that’s a bit depressing. But logically I can see I don’t beat myself up about needing meds for asthma, GERD, contact lenses etc, and propensity to obesity needs to be put into that box in my head. It’s just another condition that when managed properly gives me the freedom to stay healthy and active.

I had an eye check a couple of weeks ago and I fessed up to the optician about taking Mounjaro. He was a bit sceptical about it at first! And said “Oh it does work then?” I was like “It bloody does!” Anyway as we were discussing sight loss he said the best way to
look after your eyes is to not smoke and not become diabetic. My mum went blind in her later years and my dad’s sister too. So it’s a very real concern for me. Mum was morbidly obese and diabetic almost all of her adult life bless her. Though she always said her sight loss was not due to diabetes.

Anyway keep on it lovelies! Have a lovely Sunday 😘

Uninvitedleaf · 21/09/2025 10:19

Hi everyone sorry I’ve been a bit quiet recently, I think the combination of returning from holiday, weather change, and less daylight is getting to me a bit. Enjoying seeing how well you’re all doing though!

It’s 1.6lb off for me this week taking me to 11st 8.6lb. Just over 2st loss in total but I’m not even halfway to where I need to be for healthy BMI and it feels like a long way to go. Need to lose another 9lb to even take me into overweight instead of obese which at current rate will be another 2 months or so. I’ve never been so conscious of how short I am!

However focussing on positives:

I’m still going! Doesn’t matter how slow the losses are, in fact slower is better.

Very close to getting into a size 12, the size 16 jeans I bought a few months ago are wearable but borderline far too big. Would have bought some in a 12 yesterday if M&S had the right length in stock!

No loose skin yet (probs a benefit of slow losses).

I’ve started using a fitness tracker and to my surprise it shows I am a lot more active than I thought I was so that’s cheered me up immensely - just general running about being busy means I easily do 6-8000 steps a day so it suddenly doesn’t feel impossible to add a bit more which I know is something I need to work on.

Wk 26

Feeling a bit rough at the moment, very tired & quite nauseous. This is my 3rd week on 10mg, hopefully the side effects won't last too long. Lost one pound this week so still moving in the right direction, just slowly.

Incognitoburrito88 · 22/09/2025 08:17

Hi Everyone, just coming to say hi - my first official weekend on maintenance and I maintained despite being at a music festival on my own with four kids! I’m not massively surprised though - I can’t drink on 5mg so pretty much stuck to my usual diet!

I am very nervous about maintenance but I also recognise I need to come down off 5mg. I was preparing food for the day today feeling nauseated and not hungry and the thought of adding in extra calories was overwhelming. I could easily eat an extra chocolate bar on the sofa every night as suppression seems to wane in the evenings but I don’t think that’s a habit I want to get back into!!

We’ve got five days away with friends this weekend with a wedding in the middle. I’m going to skip Friday’s jab so I can at least have a glass of champagne on Saturday. Think I will leave it two weeks as a bit of an experiment… but I’ll see what the scales say on Tuesday morning and if I get a fright I’ll jab then!! Plan is to finish the final two doses of my current 5mg pen then come down to 3.75 for at least the next pen…

@Pepperwaggytail I’m watching your updates with interest as you’re just a few steps ahead of me - it’s so helpful reading what you are doing.

well done to everyone still plodding away. I had a couple of slow months over the summer and got very disheartened but it does all add up xx

ClimbingKilimounjaro · 23/09/2025 09:49

Off to Berlin this weekend and think I will jab as normal before we go. The delayed jabbing over the last couple of weeks has resulted in a stall in weight loss again and I’m keen with the increased price to just soldier on really now!

Have seen an 11 on the scales for the first time in 14 years which feels absolutely bonkers! In my head I can’t possibly be this size and I do wonder when my brain will catch up. I have tried on all my uni clothes that I kept and they all fit but I’m certain I was much smaller then! Anyway, I still have almost two stone to go to a healthy BMI so will crack on with it and see where I end up!

Uninvitedleaf · 23/09/2025 22:36

@ClimbingKilimounjaroI love Berlin, hope you have a great time.

I’m at a very similar point to you, in the mid 11 stone range and a bit more than 2 stone to go. My brain hasn’t caught up either although I think I’ve gone from not really believing I’m lighter to just not being able to accept I was ever 2 stone heavier than I am now!

Checking in.

Dose 2.5-3.75
SW 94kg
TW <70kg
CW 68kg
BMI 24.2

Weight is plateauing now. Still losing but much slower. Will be happy to stay where I am or lose another kilo. Am healthy BMI which feels nice. Am a large frame (big hands and feet) so low BMI doesn’t look good on me plus in my 50s and don’t want to be saggy. I do think I look younger now.

Using between 2.5/3.75mg every 10 days now, depending on appetite suppression. Trying to wean. Difficulty is knowing when to try stopping.
