April 2025 Mounjaro Starters - Thread 5!

Hope I’ve done this right, I’ve never started a thread before.

@qs90 hope you don’t mind me starting a new one for us but thread 4 was full and I don’t want to lose my crew!

Oh, and didn't know what to do re height verification for Oushk but I'm old enough to have a passport which stated my height when I was 16 (shrunk since then, boo). Submitted that so fingers crossed.

I have another 2 weeks of my current 12.5mg and have ordered another 12.5mg (although i must admit i maybe should have gone to 10mg because i've never had any side effects, but I have had headaches and feeling sick for days) but then after that, I think i might just come off it. I've lost almost 6 stone since April - but I am still 15st 12, so many stones left to lose. I'm thinking of trying keto for a while and seeing how I get on. I have PCOS so keto is recommended to help with my insulin resistance. The cost was already a stretch, I am just not sure I can stretch any further. I will see what happens though. I've not seen any individual retailers announce prices yet - but I will look out for when they do.

I can’t seem to find a provider that has any stock at all, let alone enough to bulk buy 😩

@fox919 Oushk have stock, they approved my pen today that I’d ordered last night

@saxonyvtried to order from them an hour ago and said -12 in stock and no delivery available till October

I’m seeing all the anti stock piling chat now and feeling very guilty. I’ve built up my stock in the fridge from using the bonus dose and doing 3.75mg from a 5mg pen but ordering every 4 wks to make sure my prescription was consistently renewed but like you I am a natural stock piler. I grew up somewhere very remote and my adult store cupboards are a testimony to this!

when I saw Oushk were offering three pens yesterday I assumed that meant they were secure in their stock levels and that I wouldn’t be depriving anyone of a pen. I’m really not sure I am as I’ve ordered a 5mg and a 7.5mg pen which they still appear to have in stock. I guess I’m not selfless enough to cancel my order though…

@Incognitoburrito88 Oh don't feel guilty, it was very hard last night not to get caught up in all the panic, especially when Oushk were actively encouraging us to order 3 pens. There's enough arguing on the other thread about it, it's daft. I'm alternating between dammit, why didn't I order a 3rd and then thinking I may have trouble getting maintenance (eventually) 'cos I'll be stringing out each pen for longer and not ordering at the end if I have a stockpile.

Anyway, looks like things are settling slowly, one company has even said they won't be increasing their prices, and I think Oushk have said £160 or so for the lower dose, so not too bad.

Stockpiling isn't the issue; greedy pharmaceutical companies and Trump are the issue. Don't be taken in by the bullshit, and do what you need to do for your own health x

@vl888yeah i managed to order 1 pen from Medexpress and 1 from ZAVA last night. Each pen cost me about £50 more than I’ve ever paid before now, but less than they’d cost me in a couple of weeks so I’ll just have to take that.

@SunnySpellsAheaddo you know which company said they aren’t increasing their prices?

Hope everyone’s coping okay with the news, definitely plenty of people who just cannot afford these price increases. Yesterday I did feel very panicked and upset, feeling a little better now I’ve managed to at least order pens to see me through the next couple of months. I really don’t think I’ll be able to afford maintenance for long though

Managed a llb off after a few weeks of bobbing around the same weight. It def gets harder closer to goal weight and the need to tweak the calories and stay focussed. I’ll order one more pen and then hopefully done. All done on 2.5mg (but think I’m a bit of a super responder!). Overall loss 2stone 4lbs so far….

My attempt at ordering a second pen was rejected with an email saying it is there job to make sure it is safely used so can’t prescribe more than one at a time. oh well was worth a try.

if anyone is looking for pens Medino was out of stock of all but seems to have re stocked this morning and I have a 10% off code for first orders.

@fox919 It was Chemist4u, "no plans to increase from 1st Sept" but suppose they could later on!

I’m waiting for approval (if I get it!) from Bolt, and I can still order from medexpress. I’ve still got a full 7.5 pen but will try and get a couple more if possible.
I am so SICK of the media gleefully going on endlessly about people who don’t need it who are taking it and ignoring the thousands of people who are now able to take control of their weight.
It’s going to be devastating for anyone who isn’t able to afford to continue to buy it. I’m quite near to the end of my weight loss and will be able to buy pens if I need them to maintain, but my heart goes out to those who are going to have to go it alone. 😒

Morning all, we go away on holiday soon so if my two pens get approved from oushk that I ordered (when they initially said we could order up to 3) then I hopefully should be ok to get to a healthy BMI perhaps but if not then will have to find another option. What company would people recommend it that order does not get approved (they usually do it right before dispatch so I won’t know for a week and a bit)?

Also would oushk know if I order a pen from a different company before the price increase? So that I could then stay with oushk potentially for maintenance (if it’s affordable which I doubt)

I don’t think any of the companies share customer information so they’ll have no way of knowing if you are ordering from more than one place at a time. l think when I changed supplier I had to tick a box to say I knew I shouldn’t be placing multiple orders with different companies but that’s obviously just to cover them.

Can I say thanks and well done to everyone on here for staying calm and rational? I know it’s stressful but the main thread has a lot of (understandable) panic resulting in blame over who’s ordering what from where so it’s lovely to have our little calm & supportive corner here.

I love our little group - no nastiness ever, just support and personally I’d always say good luck to anyone who manages to hold of extra pens!
The black market will boom even more now and fake pens will be even more popular 😳Im surprised the government aren’t trying to help more (maybe they are!) us private buyers are helping the nhs loads in the long term!

I’ve been thinking about transferring to wegovy after the mounjaro price hike. Medexpress said it would be possible in one of their emails. I don’t think it’s supposed to be quite as effective but maybe ok for maintenance? At least it is another option rather than going cold turkey.
Anyone else had a similar email? Or tried it?

Hi @Pepperwaggytail I have been thinking the same. I was thinking of doing Keto, but so much of my issue is portion control and not being able to contain sugar cravings, so Mounjaro has changed so much for me. I was thinking of maybe trying Wegovy - I received the same email from Medexpress. I would imagine i would know fairly soon if it was working for me or not. I've read so many success stories about Mounjaro but Ive not really heard or read any from Wegovy - so i maybe need to do some research and see what users of Wegovy are saying.

Mounjaro helps you lose up to 20% of your body weight, wegovy 15% plus I think (might be wrong!) that you would start again at the lowest dose, so would be a bit cheaper.

I go on holiday at the end of this week, and am considering missing my dose this week, so I can actually enjoy food/drink a bit more whilst I am away.

Has anyone else done this / was it ok? Did you just start back again when you got back?

according to the free version of shotsy it can take up to 2 weeks for the mounjaro to be completely out of your system so you should be ok to miss a week, however I took mine when I went, just jabbed a few days earlier than when I was leaving, and was able to enjoy food and drink but crucially I didn’t gorge I just enjoyed what I ate and then stopped when I’d had enough
