Hope I’ve done this right, I’ve never started a thread before.

@qs90 hope you don’t mind me starting a new one for us but thread 4 was full and I don’t want to lose my crew!

@QS90 would really love some tips please :) x

@knackredd

Oooh, sorry I don't have any particular easy tips (sadly for me!). As far as I'm aware, the only way to increase your resting metabolism, is to increase your muscle. Other than either being in a very cold environment or drinking ice water (because your body has to heat you up), but I'm not sure that does all that much tbh. Michael Moseley (RIP) did a podcast on how cold water swimming or cold showers can activate your "brown fat", but I do think muscle building is the main one.

What I meant, is that you can always build more muscle, if you think you've slowed your metabolism down, so don't beat yourself up! Although it seems like your plateau has finished now anyway!

Btw I discovered this site today for price comparisons www.monj.co.uk It also has a bit about which suppliers offer maintenance etc, although haven't looked at that bit, as not onto that stage yet.

Have just ordered my next pen from Bolt - much cheaper than MedExpress, for those of us looking after the pennies! Fingers crossed it all goes through alright - will update when I get it (or don't get it, as the case may be).

@QS90 - also look on that site for codes for discounts for existing supplier - they dont advertise it to us customers - but they exist.

Just to say I don't know if it's moving the scales but I've been sea swimming a lot the last couple of weeks and loving it. I live about 20 mins from the coast so easy to do. It's definitely giving me a general sense of wellbeing being if nothing else.

Mumof2studentnurse · 13/08/2025 08:12

Good morning,

it’s weigh-in day for me today. I started my weight loss journey on April 9th, so this is week 18 for me.

I’m currently on 12.5mg of Mounjaro. I hadn’t realised at the start that I could stay on the same dose for longer if it was working, so I’ve been increasing every 4 weeks, not because of a plateau, just because I thought that’s what you were meant to do so i am trying to figure out whether to stay at my current dose or move up in a couple of weeks when its time. Is anyone else here currently on 12.5mg?

Start weight: 21st 9lbs (303 lbs)
Current weight: 15st 12lbs (222 lbs)
Weight lost this week: 8lbs
Total loss so far: 5st 11lbs (81 lbs)

I hadn’t lost much weight for a couple of weeks before this. I have PCOS and my periods are all over the place, and one finally finished this week, so I’m guessing some of that is water weight shifting.

I also made a real effort to cut out the sugary sweets I'd let creep in. I was having 2 or 3 at a time (chewits and fruitellas) and giving myself credit for only having a few, but I was doing that several times a day. Before I knew it, it was 5 or 6 sweets, multiple times a day, so I cut all of that out this past week. I also didn't have any takeaway food this past week, (another thing i had let creep back into my life) so I do think that's made a difference. I'm learning just how sensitive my body is to sugar and carbs and i need to be mindful of this.

I'm also really worried about having a few weeks when I dont lose anything again. Its frustrating to have no movement - or for the scales to be down one week but back up the next, and i know there are varying factors that cause this, but it is disheartening.

Getting into the 15 stone bracket was a mini goal that I had set myself as Its been almost a decade since i have been in that stone bracket, but I need to be honest, I'm already wanting out of it as soon as possible.

That’s an amazing loss so far, well done!

I do think you have to have some willpower with this drug, and create healthy habits so that when you do eventually come off it you don’t put the weight back on from eating sweets and takeaways most days.
Maybe try upping the water, protein and veg intake this week and see if you can beat the cravings and then decide whether you need to go up to 15mg or stay on the 12.5mg

QS90 · 13/08/2025 08:40

8lbs in a week is brilliant @Mumof2studentnurse ! You must be getting my loss, because I've plateaued 😆

Sugar and carbs are the very devil for hormone issues - I don't have PCOS but it flares my endometriosis up massively x

Stayed the same this week. We’ve just got back from holiday, and I know people typically are quite happy to stay the same when away but I ate the same if not less than I’ve been eating at home, and I was much more active so was expecting a good loss! Oh well 🤷‍♀️ jab day today and moving up to 10mg, so hoping dose increase will get things moving again as I’ve been stuck around the same weight for a while now.

RhaenysRocks · 13/08/2025 08:55

@Mumof2studentnurse you've done incredibly well but losses will slow as you get smaller. You need to adjust your expectations.. I started at 14.6, am on my twentieth week and I'm currently 12.8. average is 1-1.5 lb a week which is pretty slow by mj standards perhaps but it's more than I've lost in years of trying other things. As you get lighter, the rate of loss will slow but it's still downwards. Someone on here recommended the Shotsy app and I really like it ..it gives you a great graph of your weight loss and visual really helps. Keep going...and find an alternative to those chewy sweets!! Sugar free gum maybe?

knackredd · 13/08/2025 09:04

Also work out your TDEE for losing rathering than maintenance at your current weight - probably well worth doing after each stone lost. It makes absolute sense as I started at BMI 33 - now at 27 - which is 20% loss of body weight - so of course your BMR will have changed as you will need loads less calories evening when sleeping to keep that smaller body ticking over.

With age, exercise, gender etc my max cals to loose is now only 987cals!!

Anyone else with oushk? Did my call six weeks ago all fine - she confirmed I was still fat! But now I logged in to order next pen which I need by Monday and I have had to fill loads of extra details in. Feels a bit intrusive (like my ‘whys for weight loss’) - so I am not fat and am healthier 😂 I’ve done all the bits they want including a rather attractive couple of profile pics now uploaded (double chin shot and me on a scale 😂) but I can’t confirm my height so easily. Says GP letter or pharmacist letter signed etc what has everyone else done? I’m hoping that the extra photos of my fat will offset the need for this for now. I couldn’t even get a GP appointment last week for chronic thrush let alone to get a letter to say I’m fat 😳 husband suggested I take a photo of me in Tesco stood by the children’s measuring stick (which apparently puts me in age 15 clothes - and 5:7 I think). Xx

I’m in exactly the same position. But after a bit of clicking I realised that you can skip the height verification bit when you order - I’m sure not forever but I assume they realise it’s not easy for everyone. So I skipped it this time and my order has just been approved. Next time I’m going to use a photo from the measure app on my iphone - if they don’t accept that I will try and bodge a pic using our metal DIY tape measure!

@knackredd you can only eat 987cals? Surely that can’t be right?

Yes it shocked me too. 58, female, 160 cm, 68kg, sedentary/office job - is 1475 to maintain - take off 500 to lose is 975 ...

Is anyone else with Medino?
it’s no longer on the website to compare prices and was just wondering why.

PhantomErik · 14/08/2025 12:50

Mid week check in for me Wk20 D4 & I seem to have lost 4lbs! I've stayed the same for the last 3 weeks & was feeling a bit disheartened but this has given me a boost!

We're going away to a theme park over the weekend & food options are likely to be tricky but I'll do my best. A lot of walking will be involved so hopefully that will offset it.

Really nice to see a different (lower!) number on the scales finally. Just hope it's still there by Sunday.

Week 18 & 2.5lbs down this week. From March 2024 to April 2025 I lost 25lbs myself then from April 2025 to now I have lost 45lbs with Mounjaro so 70lbs/5stone in total. I can flipping believe it. 18lbs to goal weight (but I think I'll revise that to 21lbs as I like the idea of 1.5 stone more). Honestly can't believe it. Can't actually see where the 5 stone is gone but it must have gone somewhere.
Disaster with my shot last night with half of it ending up on the counter top but will see how I go this week.
Onwards and downwards

Squiffy01 · 14/08/2025 13:46

@Newmum110 that is amazing!! Well done!

weigh in day for me today and only lost 300g my worst loss since starting in April. Trying to not let it upset me and taking comfort in the fact it won’t send me off track like it would have done in the past.

Newmum110 · 14/08/2025 14:02

@squiffy01 thank you. Last week I only lost half an lb which is less than your loss, then a normal loss again this week so definitely don't let it get to you.

A bit concerned about the recent news that prices are going to dramatically increase from September onwards 😬😬Hope it's not true.....

It was in the FT so I think it is true.

I just received a pen today and immediately ordered another from a different supplier so I have a mini stock before the prices rise. So gutted as I’m not sure I’ll be able to continue with the new prices 😔

I've got one dose of current pen left next Wed, so I ordered another today - then MedExpress has that I can re-order another pen from 28th Aug, so hoping to sneak an order in then before the increase in Sept.

I'm not far off target weight to be fair, but I was planning to stay on for a while longer for maintenance/maybe ween myself off 😬

Will be interesting to see the new prices.

RhaenysRocks · 14/08/2025 17:11

Oh shit really? I hadn't read that at all. If you go to a new supplier can you start at the dose you're on (I'm only on 5mg)

I think all suppliers are going to be affected unfortunately 😔
