Wow - thanks for this. What a reality check. I am 58, sedentary, 68kg, BMI 27 and shocked I need to be 987 cals to lose - no wonder I am plateauing - even put on 2 kgs in passed fortnight. I am not spending all this money to put on weight/stay overweigt which will creep to obese in time.
It's an salutary lesson that we need to drop the cal intake as we drop weight. I have lost 15kg since April first which delight me but terrifies me that it will go back on if I dont adapt alone the way and keep an forensic eye on the cal criteria for loss and and maintenance. Yo-yoing is not an option for my general health at my age when I am pre-diabetic, hypothyroid, high BP, high cholesterol and increased riks of cancer, dementia and musculoskeletal issues. Need to strategy where I IF to a breakfast of 250 cals of protein and the carb free and then 750 high fibre evening meal. I need the scale - i cant be guestimating at this stage in my health recovery.
I wonder if the the TDEE calculator takes inot account calcories for UPF - as i thik they hve a lots to answer for in impacting metabolism and making life harder with cravings.
