Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

I have hashis too, I feel your pain! Still waiting for my first own to arrive though - has anybody else had problems with medexpress deliveries?

I ordered with med express, that was last Tuesday, approved on Thursday, dispatched on Friday. Royal Mail supposed to deliver Saturday but must’ve overrun as it didn’t get to me until Monday 5.30pm!

I started today so can offer no advice but just wanted to welcome you and wish you the best. Hopefully things turn around for you now. And for all of us!

Ah thank you, it’s nice to have people to share with who are in the same boat, even if you are fellow internet strangers 😂

I ordered in Saturday, it wasn't approved and prescribed until yesterday. Trying to get them to respond with a dispatch/delivery confirmation is impossible. I'm going to order from another pharmacy next time. Just want to get started, and you expect better than this when you're spending that much money.

Day 4 week 1. Had a good day, SE seem to have settled down, and I seem to have a bit more energy.

Eaten lightly, but well today. Had half a skinny bagel with low fat cream cheese and strawberries with a small skimmed milk latte. Lunch (main meal) was half a baked potato with oven roasted ratatouille and a small roasted chicken breast, and I have just had tea of a small salad nicoise, no new potatoes but a couple of ryvitas instead. Had a snack of an apple at elevenses, I didn't even envy DHs biscuits. Loads of water or squash to drink as well as my normal amount of tea and coffee.

I am still getting hungry, just ready for a meal though, not absolutely ravenous. I am quite satisfied with small portions, and don't want to eat once I am full up. I am glad to say I have enjoyed what I ate, I was worried that I might not appreciate food at all.

I kind of feel this is what normal people must be like all the time.

notsochattysue · 02/07/2025 19:24

I just got word my order with Simple Pharmacy Online
has been approved and dispatched. It’s hopefully being delivered tomorrow so il start tomorrow evening. Plannimg to take lots of measurements and weigh myself tomo. Excited! I’m a secret stabbed so only you guys will know
im doing it.

Artymummy10 · 02/07/2025 19:26

I’ve just had my first dose this evening. Bit nervous for any side effects but fingers crossed!

Kitttycatt · 02/07/2025 19:46

Hello! I’m starting tonight, nervous and excited at the same time!

starting weight: 83kg
goal weight: 67kg

My meals are generally quite healthy so hoping I can just have smaller portions, my issue is snacking, especially after dinner, so I really hope that stops!

Thischarmlessgirl · 02/07/2025 20:22

I’m on day 4, so far so good. Not thinking about food, had a headache and the odd wave of nausea but nothing else. Was worried about the tummy/toilet side effects but again so far no problem.
Will weigh weekly.
Need to tell my travel insurance apparently before going away in a couple of weeks.

WhereIsSpot · 02/07/2025 20:25

I'm the same as you Nellie still hungry but not absolutely ravenous. I turned down biscuits at work today which is a first and I didn't even mind. Said no and I didn't think about them after. Which is probably a first for me. Getting back into exercise too as have been off for a while with an injury. Hoping the combination of eating way less shite and moving more will do the trick.

Notsochatty I am the same as you a secret stabber. One work colleague knows as they are on it too.

Nellieinthebarn · 02/07/2025 20:32

I'm a very secret stabber, not even DH knows.

Lozzie118 · 02/07/2025 20:40

Secret stabber here too!

Day 2.

sw 88kg
BMI 31.1
GW - healthy bmi.

Took first jab 6pm yesterday. Had a slimming world steak salad for supper and felt like I'd eaten the world.

Breakfast was a banana and a satsuma. Lunch was a box salad with 23 boiled eggs and some chicken.

No desire to eat any crap and I even said no to a lush donut at work. It;s really really odd - but nice.

Not sure what it will be like when it kicks in - but this placebo / starting effect is a winner (with a probable chicken dinner).

No side effects so far but early days.

Stick at it everyone, thoughts and hugs for you all.

I love eggs but 23 for lunch?😂

Memories1969 · 02/07/2025 20:57

Hi Everyone! Glad to find this as I have started my journey last night!
Using the pen was sooo straight forward and didn't feel a thing.
I too woke up with terrible heart burn like when I was pregnant lol. Today, I've felt like I'm floating around the house, like I'm on strong painkillers and have this full feeling in my tummy - weird!🤔

My BMI: 31
CW: 12 Stone 9 and a half ozs
GW: not sure, will wait and see

Hobbiestwriter · 02/07/2025 21:07

I'm joining!
medication approved from asda pharmacy, picking up tomorrow.
current weigth: 105kg
goal weight 75kg
5'9

I want to jab straight away but have a busy week at work next week and I'm scared! Were other people able to cope with the side effects?

Lifecircle · 02/07/2025 20:56

lol - I meant 2 !!!!!!

notsochattysue · 02/07/2025 22:44

I’m glad I’m not the only secret stabbed and @Nellieinthebarni haven’t told my husband either for a whole multitude of reasons.
SW- 105.5kg
GW- 80kg

Epitomeoffrumpy · 02/07/2025 22:50

Just done my first jab! I am 50 in 10 months and I refuse to be fat, fully, frumpy and fifty!

SW 15.12
GW 9.12

Reading other people's experiences is really motivating, fingers crossed we all get the results we want!

CarbyB · 03/07/2025 07:32

Today is day 5 and I am truly amazed. I’ve gone from snacking all day every day between meals to eating two meals a day and 1 snack in the evening. I do think about food, I just have no desire to eat it. I am eating by choice instead of compulsion. I am still enjoying food, but I am eating to fuel my body rather than to satisfy “cravings”. Other than feeling a little nauseous for a couple of days after my jab, I’ve had no side effects at all.

I am also so much more productive and energetic!

CookieQueen1986 · 03/07/2025 07:37

I’ve just done my first jab and I’m wondering if I’ve done in properly?! I didn’t feel a thing…

ThatMerryLemonSquid · 03/07/2025 07:38

CarbyB · 01/07/2025 15:51

Just wondering, I am planning to use the ‘golden dose’, is anybody else?

I am
it’s so expensive that I can’t justify not using it

CarbyB · 03/07/2025 07:41

@ThatMerryLemonSquid I agree! 5 weeks instead of 4? Yes please 😂

ThatMerryLemonSquid · 03/07/2025 07:48

AirborneElephant · 01/07/2025 07:34

Hi @ThatMerryLemonSquid . Well done for getting over the needle phobia and doing it. It gets much easier after the first💕.

i had a very dry mouth after the first injection, almost like what I’ve had after anaesthetic. I kept sipping iced water and it went away after the first day.

Hi @AirborneElephant thanks for the advice. The thirst has mostly stopped but from day 3 I’ve been feeling ravenous. Yesterday I had a cheeky bit of cake😅

AirborneElephant · 03/07/2025 07:50

CookieQueen1986 · 03/07/2025 07:37

I’ve just done my first jab and I’m wondering if I’ve done in properly?! I didn’t feel a thing…

Did you dial the plunger out to 1 and then push it back to 0? Did you feel and see lots of liquid on your skin? If yes to the first, and no to the second then you did it right. The needle is tiny and very thin, so it’s normal not to hurt.

Em85kk · 03/07/2025 07:55

Are you guys planning on sharing weekly weigh in’s?

Fortiesmum · 03/07/2025 07:56

I was the same with my first jab! So scared. I went to my friends to do it who had referred me so she could make sure I did it correctly.
I genuinely don't know what I was so worried about!
Tiny needle, no pain, no side effects and consistently losing weight. I know not everyone is the same but I am finding it amazing. Go for it!!
