Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Can I ask how you do this? I'm seen a few articles about using insulin needles but I'm not sure?

AirborneElephant · 03/07/2025 08:08

My first big willpower / suppression test tomorrow. I’m having friends over for lunch, and would normally down at least half a bottle of Prosecco and eat my body weight in cheese and cake! So I’m planning today.

I’m cutting down a bit on what I’m serving, but obviously still want to be a generous host. Currently thinking watermelon feta and mint salad, Caprese salad, big charcuterie and cheese board, bread, olives, marinated peppers, crudités, dips, lemon drizzle cake, strawberries and cream. In the SE so it’s forecast to be warm and sunny. Does that sound ok? I figure I can eat the crudités and charcuterie and some fruit without it being too obvious I’m eating less?

Did you dial the plunger out to 1 and then push it back to 0? Did you feel and see lots of liquid on your skin? If yes to the first, and no to the second then you did it right. The needle is tiny and very thin, so it’s normal not to hurt.

Yes to the first question and no to the second. Phew! Sounds like I did it correctly. Thank you 😀

Are you guys planning on sharing weekly weigh in’s?

Yes I am, I think it will help to motivate me.
Today I jabbed for the first time. My starting weight is 13 stone 5.5 lbs.

NattyMauveSwan · 03/07/2025 08:56

Joining!

I'm on day 6 on 2.5mg. So far it is going very well; not much in the way of side-effects and I am already having decent appetite suppression. I have already started some light weight workouts, to ease myself in. I really don't want to lose muscle or bone density, so I want to build good exercise habits from the start.

SW 103kg
CW 100kg
GW around 70kg

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 03/07/2025 09:01

Waiting for my alcohol wipes to arrive before I start! Or do I really need them?

It’s best to have them. As the pen is multi-use it’s important to make sure you don’t introduce any bacteria as you push on the needles. So wiping the red bung carefully before putting the needle on is important. Any chemist will sell them if you can’t wait!

Hi everyone 👋🏻 good luck to all you new starters on your weight loss journeys.

I'm currently in week 12 and I am 19lb down in 11weeks (weigh day is tomorrow for me) 🩷 I just wanted to share that I have a 25% discount code for ZAVA Medical (which is the same medical company that Asda use). The 2.5mg & 5mg pens are £139 plus cold delivery but with the discount it comes to £108 so if anyone would like the code for their next pen or their 1st pen please feel free to drop me a DM 😊

Sounds absolutely perfect! What time should I be there?

So annoyed with the postman! Injection has been in our sorting office since last night and it’s not been delivered. Typical of our post here. So annoying. Sorting office is 5 mins away. Wonder if I go and beg will they give me
it. lol. (Joking obvs)

Wildflowerblooms · 03/07/2025 11:06

Hi everyone! Had my first jab on Monday. The first few days I felt absolutely fine, but yesterday I was very nauseous with a headache. Current weight is 13st 9lbs and my goal weight 10st 5lb.

Muppies65 · 03/07/2025 11:17

Hi on day 4 no major side effects still so feeling positive, just a heads up I did let my travel insurance know and had to pay £26 to add it which I thought was quite reasonable that's on an annual policy

What is a he golden dose?

there's extra medication in the pen for priming, but there's normally enough for an extra dose (5th dose)

That’s interesting - so if I’m careful when priming the needle I could get a 5th dose?

I have a NSV! I asked my husband if he noticed I'd dropped weight and he said he can see it in my face.

I think it's going to be very obvious with my in laws. I haven't told them because they can be a bit funny with my husband and I spending lots of money (tbf, until recently we've struggled a lot so I see where they're coming from). Especially since they know I've struggled to lose weight for years. I can't avoid seeing them as my MIL picks my son up on Mondays to spend time with him for a few hours. I was hoping it would be gradual enough that they wouldn't notice for a while haha

Just say you're dieting. They don't have to know you're buying MJ. I havnt told anyone except the cat...but I can trust him, lol.

You can never trust a cat 🐈‍⬛😼

Hi. I took my first injection today. I’ve been on a diet on and off forever - they all work but then it’s just down to daily / weekly willpower over the food noise. I also have PCOS and under active thyroid and now dealing with peri menopause as well so none of that helps.

Either way weight has crept back on and so I thought I would give the jabs a try.

I only have around 10kg to lose, currently 73kg I would like to be around 63kg/64kg (I am 163cm). I maintained 58kg in my 20s but not sure that’s realistic now.

Barely felt the injection, I did it into my stomach. Good luck everyone.

ThatMerryLemonSquid · 03/07/2025 07:38

I am
it’s so expensive that I can’t justify not using it

I’m also open to “short dosing”. This is when you go up to say a 5mg pen but you make it last for 8 doses (or 10) by using a half dose. But obviously can’t do that with the first pen as it’s 2.5mg.

JimmyGrimble · 03/07/2025 13:29

So after feeling quite well for 4 days yesterday was the day from hell. Woke up feeling quite dizzy but it passed quickly so I got ready and went into work. Was sick twice in work and was sent home and then was sick again on the path outside school. So embarrassing. I had some transition days with my new class on Monday and Tuesday and a couple of them were complaining of funny tummies so I’m putting it down to a bug rather than SE. I’m not sure I would get such a severe SE on day 5 when I’ve been fine previously? I’ve slept on and off for the last 24h but haven’t managed to eat anything but toast … going to try some soup in a bit.
