Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

I’m feeling a bit pants this morning. I’m on W1 D5 and last night my husband pretty easily persuaded me to have McDonald’s. I’ve been eating really well so frustrated with myself. I’m hoping that the great appetite suppression I had on days 1-3 will get stronger over time.

On the plus side, I had less food than I normally would and calorie wise I don’t think I was too far over the norm yesterday, so hopefully it won’t totally throw my week off.

I also had mcdonalds last night. It was far too hot for my husband to cook. I had a medium 6 nugget meal and I tracked it all in myfitnesspal to make sure I was still in a calorie deficit.

First delivery is scheduled this morning and I plan to start today 😬 I’ve really struggled with weight loss since having gestational diabetes, I just can’t seem to lose despite being strict and then I become frustrated and quit. I also have Hashimoto’s so my thyroid is underactive. My last hba1c was 40 and my bmi has crept up to 31 so I’ve decided to take some action.

I’ve really struggled since having gestational diabetes too!
My first delivery is due this afternoon so will be starting with you too ☺️

W2 D4 for me, not had a great week.

Think it has probably been the heat more than just the jab itself but really been struggling.

Had headache most of week and keep feeling a bit nauseous and had diarrhoea at least once each morning.

Definitely been low on eating and protein in take this week also and my steps, general exercise has been practically non existent.

Hoping to have a better end to the week.

Muppies65 · 02/07/2025 11:49

Day three and so far feel ok , not snacking feeling fuller on small portions, replacing meals with protein shakes works for me . Woke up feeling a bit sick but after 2 big glasses of water it went, Peppermint tea is my cure for nausea in day , feeling positive 😊

juniebug · 02/07/2025 12:01

Help. Pen finally arrived and I primed it - all ok. But I injected then when pen was at zero not at correct dose. I didn’t turn the dial before injecting. I can see liquid though so perhaps I should not go again in case I double dose? Maybe I should have gone to nurse after all for a trial run! Feel like an idiot.

SilenceInside · 02/07/2025 12:04

@juniebug if you compare your pen to the picture (when it loads) of what the pen looks like after each dose, you can tell if you've actually used any medication or not. I suspect you haven't, and it would be fine to try again, but it's sensible to check.

The other thing you could do is contact your pharmacy and ask them, ideally by phone if they have a helpline.

SilenceInside thank you so much for pics they are so helpful

juniebug · 02/07/2025 12:46

Yes, you are so good to help and so quickly! No help from chemist yet but I feel reassured, thank you.

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 02/07/2025 14:36

I've sorted the reflux with gaviscon and nexium.

I don't feel sick or have a headache but I'm just not hungry. I last ate at 8pm last night (jabbed at 9.30pm - it was very first one). Just 10 minutes ago I forced myself to eat and managed a banana and half a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes. I have quite a few allergies so can't eat a few things but usually ravenous by 10am.

Today I just really struggled. The thought of my usual go to food made my stomach lurch.

I'm worried that I'll end up not eating enough. Does the appetite restriction ease off?

I’m really sorry you’re struggling so much finalpunt. It is possible that the tiredness and headaches are because you are just not eating enough, and your body isn’t yet able to trigger the fat burning pathway strongly enough to give you the energy you need. Is there any way you can face eating a little more, maybe nibble some ginger biscuits or eat several very small meals so that you’re at least getting 1000 calories or so?

AirborneElephant · 02/07/2025 15:02

@DarkSuitsSadSongs yes, the suppression calms down both over the week as your body breaks down the drug and also over time as you get used to it. However, I’ve continued to feel like eating is a choice rather than a necessity, it’s a bit of a novel feeling to have to make sure I’m eating enough!

I have found my desire for sweet and creamy things has massively decreased, and the thought of them makes me feel a bit nauseous (a very good thing in my case 😅), so would your allergies let you switch to something a bit “fresher” like protein and salad or fresh veg or something?

daisydreamies · 02/07/2025 15:53

I’m on day 4 (not counting the day I jabbed as I jabbed in the evening) and I’ve been hungrier today. I was hoping the hunger suppression would last another day at least. I have been really good though, I’ve not snacked (yet, I’m hoping I can hold off). I am excited to jab again on Saturday, it has been so nice not craving junk food and having minimal food noise and hunger.

I have to say that this jab is life changing. I’m making so many better choices food-wise and I’m reaching for meals rather than snacks. I’m hoping this becomes a habit by the time I come off the medication, so I don’t regain

I feel the same

Yesterday evening I forced myself to eat lamb chop, broccoli and green beans. Was up twice in the night on the toilet

Today i had a protein bar and mango for breakfast, then smoked salmon and scrambled egg for lunch. Feel so full. Really don't want to eat this evening even though I've got pork chop and veg prepared

I'm drinking lots of water. Used to drink with every evening, no interest now (thankfully)

I'm concerned I'm not eating enough

VordLoldemort · 02/07/2025 16:33

Hello everyone, would love to join please!
I took my first jab this Monday so I’m only 3 days in, although it seemed to work in about 3 hours and have been struggling to get calories in, I couldn’t even finish a jacket potatoe last night, normally I can have two followed by dessert. It’s like a switch has been flicked off. Had some bad trapped wind pain the first two days and burps that tasted like I’d eaten something straight out of hell (Covid robbed my smell 4 years ago so thankfully couldn’t smell it)

I’ve had a crap couple of years with lots of self harm and emotional eating and I’m just about on the other side of that now so I’m hoping this is the beginning of a new chapter for me.

starting weight is 17stone and I’m 5foot6, have never been so big but I don’t have a goal in mind, just want to be healthier and no longer pre diabetic!

I’ve also done lots of reading on the “free” fifth dose so I’ll be ordering some insulin syringes from an online pharmacy to extract that, don’t want it to go to waste as it’s so expensive.

CookieQueen1986 · 02/07/2025 16:45

My pen just arrived! Debating whether or not to take the plunge and do it tonight or first thing tomorrow. Is everyone here a morning or an evening jabber? Does it even make a difference?

I did mine at 6pm Monday, so I could hopefully sleep through any side effects, trapped wind was all I’ve had so far.

neveroutofthekitchen · 02/07/2025 17:33

I did mine at 5pm on Sunday, as I want to be able to relax a bit more over the weekends. Also, I thought 5pm gives me a few hours before bed to check I'm not going to have an allergic reaction, then I can sleep through any initial SE.

markyb123 · 02/07/2025 17:42

Day 2.

sw 88kg
BMI 31.1
GW - healthy bmi.

Took first jab 6pm yesterday. Had a slimming world steak salad for supper and felt like I'd eaten the world.

Breakfast was a banana and a satsuma. Lunch was a box salad with 23 boiled eggs and some chicken.

No desire to eat any crap and I even said no to a lush donut at work. It;s really really odd - but nice.

Not sure what it will be like when it kicks in - but this placebo / starting effect is a winner (with a probable chicken dinner).

No side effects so far but early days.

Stick at it everyone, thoughts and hugs for you all.

I think it probably is tbf and actually, I used to drink at least 3 cappuccino sachets in a morning and a can of iced coffee in the afternoon but I am only having 1 cappuccino a day now so probably isn't helping.

I did eat lunch today and manged tuna salad and protein pudding thing, not hungry still but think something light like scrambled eggs or beans on toast.

I need to start tracking calories better really and making myself eat more often

Thai all sounds so positive, well done, daisydreamies. I’m hoping for the same!

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 02/07/2025 18:27

Glad to know I'm not alone in the struggling to eat.

DH made me a chicken casserole and I managed the whole chicken breast, 2 tablespoons of mashed potato and 3 slices of honey glazed carrot.

Absolutely stuffed but at least I managed something decent

I’ve really struggled since having gestational diabetes too!
My first delivery is due this afternoon so will be starting with you too ☺️

I have hashis too, I feel your pain! Still waiting for my first own to arrive though - has anybody else had problems with medexpress deliveries?
