Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

1000 replies

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

I’m in! Had my first injection last Friday after being too scared to even try for about a year - absolute dream so far. Few side effects but ticking along ok and down a few lbs

CarelessWhisper1966 · 01/07/2025 18:23

My First post. First jab last Thursday. Slight headache on Friday but drank lots of water and it passed over. No other side effects to date thankfully. And no hunger. The noises are all gone. Haven't braved the scales yet but will post again.
SW 99.4 and first goal 90. Little steps. Good luck to everyone else this July.

@FFSrage how long did the delivery take in total? Were the ice packs in the package completely melted and warm to the touch? Was the pen itself warm?

If you think it may have been above 30 degrees C then it should not be used, and your pharmacy should issue a replacement.

If it's got above 8 degrees C but less than 30, then you can use it, but must use it within 30 days. That should be fine as it's your first pen and you want to start using it straightaway.

yes I think they were melted….i didn’t open the main bag, just panicked and shoved it in the fridge!
Given the weather this week I think it probably has gotten over 30 degrees - my delivery today was 1pm so will have been in a hot van from this morning.
Ive emailed my provider so I’ll wait to hear from them to be safe!

Hello all,

great to catch up on this thread. Good to know others out there are on this journey too.

My pen arrived today and I've just taken the first dose (I wanted to wait for DH to be home to be my second pair of eyes on the instructions).

SW 89 kg
GW 72 kg / BMI 24 (or ideally less, but let's see where we get to)

What other measurements should I take at the start? Waist in cm? Anything else to compare?

WhereIsSpot · 01/07/2025 20:28

Hopefully you will get an answer FFSrage.

Day one done, no evening binge eating although I feel like I would like something sweet. Ate a pear to hope that would hit the spot but it hasn't. Food noise has decreased a bit but I am feeling hunger. I need to remind myself that it's only 1 day and I'd want to relax a small bit.

How was everyone's day?

PourUsAGlass · 01/07/2025 20:51

Day 5 done, i was super tired Friday and Saturday and a little nauseous and headachey. Sunday i definitely felt a lot better. Yesterday and today ive been full of energy, no feeling sick and the suppression is still there. Food noise has completely gone, no snacking in between meals, I cant believe the difference in 5 days. And im 4.5lb down x

I had appointment at orthopedics today, been waiting for years. Thought I might need knee replacement, thankfully I don't.
Saw 2 doctors and both were very supportive when I told them I'd started mounjaro.
Had to force myself to eat this evening, day 3 and not hungry at all today

YummyBelicious · 01/07/2025 21:53

I'm just waiting for my (second try of) photos to be approved by med express then I'll be joining you hopefully 🙂

ByLemonFish · 01/07/2025 21:55

I used Medexpress, they were very quick

heroofalexandria · 01/07/2025 22:07

Hello please can I join? My pen is being delivered tomorrrow but I don’t plan to take it til Saturday evening (bit worried about violent side effects at work!) I have a large amount of weight to lose- about 9 stone which is horrendous now I think of it. I have some complex health conditions so I was a little surprised to get approved in the first place! Will take it one injection at a time!

Nellieinthebarn · 01/07/2025 22:38

Day 2 for me, I have felt hungry, but got full up on much less food. I have also been drinking a lot of water.

I have only eaten my meals, no snacks at all. I'm not saying I haven't automatically reached for the biscuit tin, but it was quite easy to check myself.

I roughly counted up my calorie intake today and its about 1000, and I don't feel hungry. I would normally feel really hungry on this amount. I'm going to aim to eat a bit more than that tomorrow.

No real side effects today. I'm pleased with how its gone today, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be totting up the calories to check I'm eating enough!!

1023nina · 01/07/2025 23:12

JimmyGrimble · 01/07/2025 23:24

Day 4 for me and apart from a funny taste in my mouth I’ve been fine so far. Struggled to eat my calories the last 2 days but I’m putting away the protein and drinking my water. My friend gave me some whey protein powder that tastes like peach iced tea .., it was grim and very sweet so I might give that a swerve. Don’t feel like food at all. It’s like something has been switched off.

AbitSceptical · 01/07/2025 23:51

@1023nina hope this works for you 😊

Great question about the gym. I’d like to start doing some weight training but I don’t really know how. Personal trainer is expensive! I already do loads of walking and some Pilates. I’m going to start doing one of those Lucy Wyndham Reid workouts each day for starters.
Like you I’d be interested to know what ideas others have.

Artymummy10 · 02/07/2025 05:00

Hi, can I join you all? My first dose is due to be delivered this week. I have PCOS and have been steadily gaining weight since having kids. I’m ready to get healthy!

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 02/07/2025 07:02

I took my first dose last night. I've woken up with the worst heartburn/reflux ever. Currently counting the hours until the pharmacy opens and I can get some Nexium or something better than gaviscon.

I had a chuckle with my husband that the jabbing reminded me of my IVF 13 years ago.

Lozzie118 · 02/07/2025 07:52

I took my first dose last night too, so let's see what this first week brings. How is everyone feeling today??

Cherryblossom6754 · 02/07/2025 08:03

Hi, can I join?
I took my first dose yesterday, I don't feel any different yet. Will see how the day goes and if I'm not snacking like usual!

Starting weight 95kg / roughly 15st
Goal weight 68kg / 10.10st

Madfit on YouTube is great too, a lot of body weight stuff to get you started and then you can incorporate weights. Her dance workouts are fun too

EvelynSalt · 02/07/2025 08:10

I’m feeling a bit pants this morning. I’m on W1 D5 and last night my husband pretty easily persuaded me to have McDonald’s. I’ve been eating really well so frustrated with myself. I’m hoping that the great appetite suppression I had on days 1-3 will get stronger over time.

On the plus side, I had less food than I normally would and calorie wise I don’t think I was too far over the norm yesterday, so hopefully it won’t totally throw my week off.

speakingofart · 02/07/2025 08:11

Morning everyone! Does anyone have any genius ways to get more protein in please? I’m doing Voy and the daily protein goal has made me really aware of how little I’m eating! I’m not really feeling hungry and I struggle with the texture of artificial protein which doesn’t help

AirborneElephant · 02/07/2025 08:38

Morning all. I’m feeling much better today, we had an Indian takeaway last night (I had chicken shashlik and sag bahji so not too naughty), and felt ok after eating it, so hopefully the lunchtime issues were a blip.

Gym wise I do weights three times a week, and normally running three or four times a week although currently injured. The injury was actually part of what pushed me to start WLI, I felt that running around with effectively a 25kg weight strapped to me was not doing my joints any good as I get older. It’s very easy to get started either if you have a leisure centre nearby or at home with some dumbbells or even just bodyweight exercises.

For protein I try to have a chicken breast or salmon fillet or tuna mainly with salad for lunch, and then another portion of meat with dinner. On weights days I’ll also have a protein drink so that I can get the protein in within 20 mins of exercise. I like the peach tea clear whey drinks from myprotein, they taste like squash. They have a mojito flavour too which I may try next.

AbitSceptical · 02/07/2025 09:06

Looks like several of us started yesterday, that’s great!

For protein at breakfast, I mix a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder with water to make a paste and then mix that with Greek yoghurt and top with berries. I also add collagen powder to coffee (collagen is protein).

Off to check out Madfit on YouTube

Spoonmoon · 02/07/2025 10:05

First delivery is scheduled this morning and I plan to start today 😬 I’ve really struggled with weight loss since having gestational diabetes, I just can’t seem to lose despite being strict and then I become frustrated and quit. I also have Hashimoto’s so my thyroid is underactive. My last hba1c was 40 and my bmi has crept up to 31 so I’ve decided to take some action.
