Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Hey all. Question for the ladies. I’m on week two of Wegovy, chosen over MJ because it apparently doesn’t affect pill / hrt. Haven’t had a period in years and I’ve now had three days of bleeding. Nothing else has changed so can only be this. No other real side effects. Anyone else? Have contacted provider to see what they say….

on hrt here too period came 1st time in months and full 7 days not 5 and before I finished my 14 day pill along side the gel bloody nightmare

SW 99.6kg
CW 95.5kg
Jab day! Suppression definitely lasted longer this week which was great! I’ve had vague hunger the last few days but definitely not as much as the first week.
I was feeling a bit disheartened about slower weight loss this week but in the end it was about 1.5lb so I’m pretty happy with that.

Vikki7 · 16/07/2025 06:31

Week 4 day 1

I took my 4th jab last night and weighed this morning, I’m -1.9kg from last week, all good!

Is anyone doing the golden dose? I wonder if the liquid that’s left is roughly the same as a normal dose or if it’s needed to measure out 0.6ml?

Week 1 SW 96.2kg
week 2 -5.1kg
week 3 -2.2kg
week 4 -1.9kg
CW 87.15kg

When have people found it best to jab? I'm terrible for mindless eating at a weekend and have seen some people say an evening is a good idea so side effects may be dampened by morning.

If I did it Friday eve do people think it would make me feel grotty all weekend or if I did it Sunday would I still have suppression until the next week?

Sorry if its a silly question.

Rallentanda · 16/07/2025 08:48

Week 1 results:
SW 106.1kg
CW 104.4kg down 1.7kg or 3.7 lbs
GW 67kg

Has honestly felt really good, just a little mild nausea here and there. I've read enough not to count my chickens there but for now I'm happy!

When I look back, to get a drop like that was taking me 3 months of constant food monitoring, planning exercise really well, and the ups and downs were disheartening. I'm 53 though - it wasn't like that even when I was 47, it was much easier. Bloody menopause.

It's not a silly question! I think people vary a lot in their response. Personally I jabbed on a Wednesday morning because that's when it arrived. By the weekend I was feeling a little bit of hunger - nothing major - but all week I've been able to not overeat at all. I just can't do it. Don't want to snack. But I think we are all different in how our bodies react.

I am on Day 2 of Week 1, and the only side effect I've had so far is burping (but not smelly ones). Any natural remedies that have worked for people?

Also, am going out for a couple of meals with friends this week. I'm a vegetarian. Should I be avoiding cheese even in salads to avoid tummy issues? What meal options have worked well for people when they've dined out - at a cafe? pub? tapas restaurant? Thanks, in advance

I jabbed at night - seemed to mitigate side effects. Had no trouble sleeping.

I’m also bad at weekends, I have been doing Thursday have very good suppression all weekend, less good on Tues and Wed but easier for me to manage it then.

I did my first jab last Friday evening, partly because that's when it arrived, but mainly for the reasons you said - to get the best suppression over the weekend and to get the side effects out of the way overnight. I felt fine over the weekend, not really many side effects at all just enough to know it had done something!

Elephantscantjump · 16/07/2025 10:49

Amazing thanks so much everyone!

Yes I am sure there is a slightly increased risk but I still think that the drug companies do not want people splitting the dose in this way or they will be less profitable.

@MeridaBrave It actually states on Asda’s website that a used pen can be kept in the fridge for longer than 30 days! But doesn’t say how long 🙄 I’ve also heard of people saying their Drs/pharmacists have told them it will be ok for a few weeks if kept in the fridge 🤷‍♀️

I don't get side effects for a day or two. I jabbed on Monday and was fine until last night when I was up 4 times with diarrhoea. Everyone's different though. I think it's a bit trial and error until you find what works for you.

@Vikki7 the dose that’s left will be more than 0.6ml so it definitely needs measuring out! Some people manage to force the pen and turn it to a full dose, others draw it out with a 1ml syringe, which is what I’ll be doing.

@Elephantscantjump I started mine on a Tuesday morning and found the suppression wearing off by the weekend, so think I’m gonna change my jab day to a Thursday, as weekends are also my achilles heel!

HappyTuesdayyyy · 16/07/2025 11:34

@Rallentanda we're pretty much the same. I did my fist jab yesterday and had mild nausea.

My SW is 107kg and GW is 65kg.

Yes - I’ve looked into it. Ultimately it’s only been tested to 30 days by Eli Lilly. The main risk (assuming keep in fridge all the time only take out quickly for each jab, very careful with hygiene etc) is that the product isn’t as effective. But no one knows. I’ve decided to take my chances. Ultimately I’m doing well on 2.5mg and my next pen is a 5. I think I will get 10 doses from it. I’ll order probably 2 more pens after that (they keep for longer before open) and then cancel. When I run out will worry about ordering more. Clearly will have to start from 2.5mg again.

Catladyof7 · 16/07/2025 14:16

Can anyone who forces the pen to move for the golden dose please tell me if they put the needle on before they try to turn the pen at the bottom, Or do you try and turn the pen first and force it , then put the needle on ?
Mine did feel like it may move .
Thanks

EvelynSalt · 16/07/2025 14:41

I’m on W3 D5 and appetite suppression has disappeared again. A bit bummed as I have already got another 2.5mg pen for next month, but I probably should have increased. Having said that though, I’m trying to see it as a positive that I still need to use some willpower.

I’m feeling really low today which I don’t think is helping!

Yes I was concerned about this so I have got a 5mg pen for next month, can always use less clicks. My suppression also minimal on day 6 and 7 (today) so it’s willpower alone.

neveroutofthekitchen · 16/07/2025 15:07

Im on W3 D3 and the suppression is definitely less this week than last week. I'm holding in there so far thinking about all that lovely weight loss if I stay strong.
Still got one more week on 2.5mg after this week then I will go to 3.75mg and 5mg

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 16/07/2025 15:53

Aaargh I picked the wrong thing out of the fridge this morning so couldn't have my planned lunch (should have been a lovely big salad, instead only a small portion of roasted veg). So now I'm hungry at only 4pm and at work with limited options for healthy snacks for the next two hours (lots of biscuits/chocolate though 😭). Definitely looking forward to future weeks when the suppression will hopefully increase!

@MeridaBrave I intend to do the same! Get the 5mg pen but continue taking only 2.5mg unless there’s no effect, then have the option of moving up to 5mg or 3.75mg. Definitely gonna save me a fortune!

@Catladyof7 I can’t imagine it makes much difference. As long as you don’t start depressing the plunger until you’ve put a needle on 🤷‍♀️
