Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Every use. It's to clear any air out of the needle before injecting. Each new needle will have a small amount of air in it so you need to push that out and replace with fluid.

Markoj · 16/07/2025 16:39

It’s brilliant that you’ve been able to maintain your weight for a year that shows serious discipline, even if the scale isn’t shifting as fast as you’d like it.

Your plan sounds really smart: using Mounjaro to help kickstart the loss, then easing back into a way of eating you already know works for maintenance.

Once you start to see progress everything else will fall into place.

renagade thanks so much , I did think so but wasn’t sure

Kewforyourlife · 16/07/2025 19:01

hi all,
Im starting tomorrow, just had an email from phlo to say my pen will arrive in the morning, excited to get started!

Wibbs · 16/07/2025 19:20

Injected my first dose this morning. 🤞this works as I have a lot to lose. Looking forward to reading this thread from the start to pick up as many tips as I can.

Mounjamtastick · 16/07/2025 19:41

Mounjaro dinner Grin

Ill be snacking on this all evening!

Things over here are going well, I’m 6.8lbs down in 10 days on 2.5mg and the suppression is definitely working but I don’t really notice it if that makes sense? Like today we went out for food and I ate 2 chicken tenders and was stuffed, where usually it would have been 5 tenders and chips and a pudding.

Im not getting any side effects now after sulphur burps last week so it just feels really nice and easy. We’ll see how it goes from here but so far im quite enjoying not thinking about food!

Hi all, I’ve just been approved for my second month (and up to 5mg) on mounjaro. I’m due to pick it up on Friday but am not due to take it until the following Sunday- 9 days later. Will the mounjaro still keep? I read something about only keeping for 30 days?

Radioundermypillow · 16/07/2025 21:06

Hello. My first pen has arrived. It's Wegovy not MJ but hope I can join? Im planning to take it tomorrow night. I see patients all day on Thursday so I'm hoping by taking it on a Thursday night I'll get side effects over the weekend rather than at work. I have 3 or 4 stone to lose.

I saw some photos of me at a family party yesterday and felt cold all over. It was a real shock. Ive tried every diet under the sun. Keto worked but the lack of carbs was too restricting. I think about food all the time so im hoping to be released from the tyranny!

It’s fine before it’s opened. Keep in fridge.

Hi @Radioundermypillow I'm taking Wegovy as well!

I'm on W1D4 and I noticed already yesterday that the suppression is falling off a bit - I was hungry between meals and at night - but feeling satisfied after a meal seems to be persisting so I hope I cam just ride through it. It's already such a revelation, Monday and Tuesday night I was full before I finished my dinner and then miraculously I wasnt bothered about snacking in front of the TV. I keep just thinking, is this what naturally thin people are experiencing? I remember doing Weightwatchers and them saying "you have to eat slowly and watch for the feeling of satisfaction before feeling full" and I did try, but in effect I was just stopping eating while I was still hungry and then waiting for the unsatisfied feeling to go away. Now on Wegovy, I feel like maybe I have actually experienced it? But it wasnt some magic different satisfied feeling, it was the full feeling, it just came with about half the amount of food.

CookieQueen1986 · 17/07/2025 07:55

Injection number 3 and weigh in day for me.

SW: 13 stone 5.5 lbs
CW: 12 stone 11 lbs

Very happy with that loss in two weeks. 😊

I'm quite excited to start tonight!

I have three main worries - I want to hide it from my daughters (they are older, youngest is 19) because I worry it's not setting a very good example about loving yourself as you are.

I worry that if the weight comes off too quickly I will self sabotage (I do this with dieting, the minute I dip beneath 13 stone I start eating a lot)

I worry that I'll want to stop taking it eventually and then just pile everything back on.

And I worry that I'll lose loads of volume in my face and look much older - im 58 - although tbh I couldn't have looked much worse than I did in the photos from the weekend!

WOW! I can't believe I've just completed 3 weeks on MJ. Don't know where the time has gone, don't know where the weight has gone - just really enjoying the lack of noise in my head.

Weirdly, after years and years of stomach problems every morning, my IBS has gone. My biggest worry starting was the stomach SE. But I feel very lucky that this hasn't been my experience. Just get an almost instant headache after jabbing - I do it late on a Thursday evening and go straight to bed. By Friday morning I'm good to go.

Just ordered the 5mg pen to start next week.

Managed 3 × 30 min swims this week. Aim is do a minimum of 3 to hopefully help tone as the weight comes off.

Feeling super motivated and really enjoying the positivity of this group.

Still only hubby and I know I'm doing this. Another 8kg and I might feel ready to share.

Good luck to everyone on our journeys to healthier futures.

Week 1, Day 3 - I had burps and felt bloated and constipated for the first two days. Took a small dost of laxative and ate some prunes last night. Woke up feeling much better, and even managed an early morning yoga class. Hope these mild side effects settle. The shot appears to be keeping me from making bad food choices - I'm still eating three healthy/clean meals and snacking on fruit, just not craving junk/alcohol! Hope everyone else is doing well this morning.

Ha, yes, I've also been thinking - is this how naturally skinny folks relate to food? It's a revelation! I'm on Wk1, Day 3 - I don't think I've had major suppression - just not craving junk/alcohol. Let's see how long it lasts! Have you had any side effects?

SassiestPants · 17/07/2025 10:33

W2D1
SW 83.7kg, CW 81.5kg - a loss of 2.2kg which is just under 5lbs. I'm really pleased though understands that most of that is water weight.

I definitely noticed I felt hungry yesterday on D7, but seemed to be easily satisfied with my meals and still didn't have the desire to snack.

I had some headaches last week and I'm exhausted.. I would suffer from both, anyway but feel it's slightly more since MJ. I want to paym more attention to my macros this week and try to get out for some walks if I can find the energy.

My stomach has been fine, no nausea or constipation. I've been thirsty though so no issue getting the water in. I noticed some light headedness but again, this is something I might experience anyway.

Best wishes all. Looking forward to seeing what the next wewk brings.

MeridaBrave · 17/07/2025 10:51

So did 3rd injection today. I’ve lost 4kg (3 in first week and 1 this week). Very happy with that. I knew the weight in the first week was mostly water.

So, I’m someone who has always been on a diet. Always had to use willpower to not eat. Constant struggle. I was only just eligible to use WLI (72kg at 163cm so BMI of 27 with high cholesterol, and PCOS).

But even then, I just love how easy this is. I don’t need to use up loads of thoughts with willpower. I just don’t want to eat as much. I’m not having to weigh or measure (other than protein to make sure I get enough). But I know roughly i’m eating 1200 calories (based on previous weighing). It’s a total revelation.

Got new pen today for month 2 changed supplier to save money and had no issues at all so worth shopping around no need to be loyal if price is high

Adelesky · 17/07/2025 12:46

Same as @MeridaBrave re: just not wanting to eat as much. W3D1 and aside from the 4kg weight loss I’ve notice my nails are stronger, hair just looks…better? Skin too - anyone else? I guess I’m not eating rubbish low-value food so bound to have an impact. And for me that’s the main impact - absolutely no snacking in 3 weeks

Yes same here, skin definitely better. Not sure about you guys but I find that reducing or cutting out sugar has an amazing effect on my skin and face in particular. One of the impacts of Mnj for me has been kicking sugar cravings, so really enjoying the quick impact this has had!

Kewforyourlife · 17/07/2025 13:27

just done my first jab, was a bit nervous but needn't have been, barely felt a thing.

Yes, my skin is looking great - I wondered if it was the 2l of water I’m forcing down daily 😁
