Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Breakfast
Greek yoghurt and berries (try and eat 200g to get 20g protein)
Whey protein isolate blended with half a banana, some frozen berries and ice (again add 20g of powder to get 20g protein)
Omelette - I use two chick 100g and 1 egg - that’s around 18g of protein.

Well... I took my first dose last night! Very strong nostalgia for the days when I was doing IVF... I know that at 0.25 I won't be getting the full effect but slightly disappointed to see that I fully wanted the same breakfast as normal... I will see how it goes.

I felt the same way as you on W1D1; however, I get my best suppression on days 2-5.
Also, although MJ has a half life of 5 days, each jab stays in your body for 30 days so by W2 you are adding to the MJ left in your body from W1.
Give it time and keep going,

Where does everyone order theirs from?? I started with juniper but looking elsewhere

PourUsAGlass · 14/07/2025 11:45

Hi guys, can I ask how many calories you're all averaging per day please? I had a really good loss my first week, but haven't lost anything in my second, so im feeling a bit disheartened.
I'm averaging 1000-1200 cals a day, so not sure why that is x

I ordered from Pharmacy Express. Not one I've heard many people on here mention but they had good prices with a high Trust pilot score so seemed a good bet. Very happy so far - I filled in the online form on Wednesday, got a email that evening asking for proof of ID, had a video call the next morning (Thurs) to verify my weight and talk through the process, then received my first pen by Royal Mail on Friday morning!

I'm aiming for 1200 a day but I'm not eating any 'white carbs' ie bread, pasta, and rice. I'm minimising potatoes so probably only have a little of those twice a week. I don't eat meat so I'm mostly eating fruit, yoghurt, eggs, fish, beans, and vegetables.

I’m exactly the same, 3.2kg 1st week, 100g 2nd week. Am tracking food on MFP and reckon I’m also 1000-1200 / day. Have been quite constipated over the last week, was ok during 1st week; not sure if I didn’t drink quite enough for a few days. I’m prone to this anyway, so have upped fibre and fluid intake and started regular docusate capsules. 🤞for a better result next weigh in

Rallentanda · 14/07/2025 12:07

I've only lost 2 1/2 lbs in 5 days but tbh I am really, really happy with my first experience of Mounjaro. I'm very aware that side effects can and do happen out of the blue, but so pleased they haven't been instant! Just a little bit of nausea. I read it described as like very early pregnancy and it's true. Except no food aversions, sore boobs or rage haha.

Drinking loads of water (really have to force myself), naturally eating smaller meals, not snacking. Fantastic. I haven't really exercised as it's been too hot. Cooling a bit now so going to do weights today.

@PourUsAGlass I'm averaging 1000-1200 cals.

Titianshe · 14/07/2025 12:12

SW 117.5kg
1 week and I’m down to 114kg. Very pleased with the loss and the lack of thinking about food is a revelation

Would anyone fancy recommending their breakfast ideas - particularly savoury stuff? I should really be making an effort to get away from the toast now shouldn't I?

I've not been good today, just a yogurt (need to go shopping basically) but a breakfast I love is some quite finely chopped veg (anything you have in; mushrooms good for protein), fry it up a little till it's just cooked. Take a sachet of miso soup, put it in 70ml of warm but not boiling water, beat it into 2 eggs, add the veg, place everything in a bowl and microwave on medium for 6 minutes.

Take care removing it from the microwave as it's very hot. Leave for a bit to cool. It makes a sort of eggy custard. In Chinese cooking it's silken eggs and this recipe is taking the piss a bit (I saw it on Instagram) but it's really tasty and you can eat it with a spoonful of yesterday's brown rice for extra fibre.

It's a good lunch on a cold day as well.

week 1 weigh in and i've lost a kilo - happy with that - food suppression has stayed throughout the week and ive had limited side effects.
Bit panicked though as i was away for the weekend and pen was in my bathroom (north facing) obvs its been warm over the weekend and im worried it will of got above 30 degrees in there - DH says unlikely but I'd be miffed if i've ruined it - is there anyway to tell if its comprimised?

I think as long as the liquid is clear it is ok

MeridaBrave · 14/07/2025 12:51

Juat reminding everyone to eat enough protein. Ideally a minimum of 90g a day (three meals of 30g is best but not always possible). It’s easy to also lose muscle, and eating enough protein along with doing some resistance exercise will mitigate. I’m not calorie counting but I am counting protein to make sure I get enough. It’s true there are sources out there that claim 50g a day is enough - and it’s true the only risk of eating less than 90/100g is additional muscle loss - but - it’s an average and older people (esp women most menopause) are less good at muscle protein synethis (ie using the protein that’s been eaten) and those on weight loss diets are prone to muscle loss hence a higher amount is needed.

Rallentanda · 14/07/2025 14:04

I just don't know how to get 90g protein a day. I almost always hit 55g and up to 75g on some days. Obviously I understand how to put protein in a meal, it's how to get 90g cumulatively without eating four meat-based meals a day, iykwim. (I am not a fan od powders, shakes, Huel etc: too processed.)

100g cooked chicken is 30g
Tin tuna is 30g
250g of fage 0% 26g
150g cod fillet 30g
300g (1 pot) fat free cottage cheese 33g

I do also usually have 1 protein shake a day, but mostly whey protein isolate blended with some fruit. But I can tolerate the protein works vegan Wondershake.

Rallentanda · 14/07/2025 14:58

Thanks @MeridaBrave

I read my own post and put on some eggs to hard boil, will keep those in the fridge. Need to stock up on cottage cheese then. That's a big pot!
30g whole grains as well per day...Isn't it weird to not be finding it easy to get the food into our bodies?

CookieQueen1986 · 14/07/2025 15:37

I’m W2 D5 and the food noise is creeping back. I’m so disappointed. I’m beginning to wonder if I injected properly this week. Last week the suppression was really high so no idea what’s happened this week. Is this happening to anyone else?!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 14/07/2025 17:41

Any suggestions for high protein foods that aren't meat, fish, or cottage cheese? I'm veggie and can't stand cottage cheese! I've tried a few protein bars in the past and didn't like the texture - very grainy.

Hi, w2 d6 and I have noticed this too, I think it just the blood serum level dropping off as the medicine is metabolized. It makes sense. Sick with it, as you up doses it should hit a steady state.

Remember it's a (non chocolate bar) marathon, not a sprint. Wishing you success.

markyb123 · 14/07/2025 18:04

W2 d6. I'm down 9lb since first jab. Has been really awesome apart from feeling like I was gonna throw up after 2nd jab. That passed after a few hours.

Next dose of 2.5 ordered. Staying on that dose as is working ok for me.

Light baby bels are 5g of protein each and only 45(ish) cals.

Hi I’m just waiting on my order to arrive . Most of my work colleagues are on it and the results are pretty impressive. They’ve all
soad that they feel so more healthy and fitter as well

MeridaBrave · 14/07/2025 19:02

Also quorn is a great source of veggie protein.

HappyTuesdayyyy · 14/07/2025 19:03

I am going to have my first injection tomorrow. After lots of discussion with family, the weight management nurse and the pharmacist at my local chemist, I decided to go for it. My BMI is 40.5 and it needs to be 23!

And all of a sudden I feel very nervous and wondering whether I'm doing the right thing. Did anyone else have last minute jitters?

Edited

I really did. I did my first jab last night and immediately felt really anxious but today has been ok - I have felt a bit nauseous all day and have a slight headache and the concept of food feels a bit like it did when I was early pregnancy; just not very appealing.

I still feel anxious about it but just need to hold on until I weigh myself next week and hopefully it will be worth it.

Good luck!
