Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. Well done to those on the losses, and welcome to the new bees. So it’s week three for me, did my injection last night and feel really full up today and actually a bit sick.
Finally, my period came, I’ve never been so pleased so hoping to see some weight loss this week.
my suppression is pretty good, I went out for dinner last night and had a main course but really wasn’t bothered about finishing it, it feels very strange after a lifetime of being very driven by food and getting excited about what’s on the menu in a restaurant!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 13/07/2025 16:45

Going well so far today, after my eggs on toast at 6am I didn't get a chance to eat again until 4pm. I was quite hungry by then but wasn't particularly bothered about being hungry - I noticed and acknowledged it but it didn't affect my mood or cause me to seek out junk. In fact a colleague was offering out ice creams and I just didn't want one which is a first! Normally even if I declined I'd be tempted but I really wasn't.

Muppies65 · 13/07/2025 18:04

W2d6 Hungrier than normal today but getting on really well with 2.5 so unless hunger noises increase significantly staying on low dose for another month.

Only SE is constipation taking fibrogel which is keeping things moving. Feeling the freedom of having no constant food cravings is wonderful, weigh in and jab day tomoz so far 6lb down

InTheNightGarden75 · 13/07/2025 18:34

Just introducing myself, I started 1st June, did 3 jabs and had bad nausea/fatigue side effects with my 3rd, I was due on holiday end of June so didn't take the next jab, it's then taken me till yesterday to pluck up the courage to start again. Today I have woken with no suppression which I am gutted about as before it was instant. I really hope I haven't messed it up as I really need to get my cholesterol down before I get put on meds. I have about 2.5 stone to lose , so hopefully I will stick to it this time. Thank you for reading, and if anyone's been through the same would be good to hear

I’ve also got high cholestrol but not totally convinced weight loss / jabs will help. Let’s see. Plan to get it tested in around 3-4 months. Sorry to hear about side effects. Are you still using 2.5mg? Maybe try and move up to 5?

I know of a few people who have come off meds after using mourjano so hoping it stops me having yo yo on them, although I've told only my OH that I'm taking it. My bloods are due so going to wait about 6 weeks as the side effects of cholesterol meds are not good. I can't move up as have reset dus to the break I had so back to 2.5 for 4 doses, then I will reassess. Where are you on the journey?

Beachcomber81 · 13/07/2025 19:47

Strange isn’t it, how (for me) it’s not that I’m ‘resisting’ treats or ‘being good’, I genuinely don’t want them. There’s no appeal!

(I acknowledge others may not feel this way too 😔)

speakingofart · 13/07/2025 20:34

Is anyone else finding 2.5mg is less effective as the weeks go on? I had really good suppression the first two weeks (lost 8lbs) and then injected again on friday and nothing really, and have eaten loads today for the first time. It's almost to the point I've wondered if I've suddenly done it wrong or something....

heroofalexandria · 13/07/2025 20:43

I’m having a wobble. I’m on W2 D2 and I’ve not got anywhere near the suppression I had this day last week. Maybe about half? Now I’m worrying last week was a total placebo. I’ve been at a family bbq and while I haven’t eaten as much as I normally would I’ve said yes to things like a mini brownie and an ice lolly. It’s odd. DW said I’d just eaten a normal amount though so maybe that’s fine (and let’s face it more sustainable) but I’m worried I won’t lose much this week. Back to basics tomorrow

stormageddmum · 13/07/2025 20:44

It definitely feels surreal. Day 3 and feel like suppression has increased (think it peaks anywhere between day 1 and 3) and today is much calmer. I'm not thinking so much about the fact I'm on MJ or about food. The treats in Costa didn't even register! Headaches gone and drinking loads but realised I haven't pooed since Thursday so ordered Physillis tabs off Amazon. Do they work quickly or should I be looking at something a bit more industrial-strength??

My mum and sister have high cholesterol but mine has been just about ok until recently - I blame menopause. I don’t have masses of weight to lose and some would def be a bit judgey about me using WFI as I only just qualified with BMI of 27. I’m only a week and a half in. I’m hoping to get to target weight in circa 3-4 months. I don’t want BMI to drop much below 23 as I want to maintain muscle mass, although will be guided also by the bodytrax machine in the gym.

I really hope maintaining a Lower level of fat will bring cholesterol down. Wanted to try this before statins.

So. Starting weight 72kg and goal weight 62kg.

I find the physillis works really quickly for me, it makes me go in 12 hours. Give it a try and then look at the industrial-strength stuff if it doesn’t work.

I’m glad I’ve not needed laxatives/stool softeners as I used them after I had my son and the cramps they caused were like I was in labour again. Not a fun time

I use glycerin suppositories always works within 5 minutes!!

Well... I took my first dose last night! Very strong nostalgia for the days when I was doing IVF... I know that at 0.25 I won't be getting the full effect but slightly disappointed to see that I fully wanted the same breakfast as normal... I will see how it goes.

I was similar when I woke up the day after my first jab, but although I still wanted the same breakfast, I didn't need as much of it to feel satisfied (I gave myself a smaller portion though as I didn't trust myself to stop when I was full) and it kept me satisfied much longer which was the difference

I've gained to some easily since peri menopause started 2 years ago. I've not been as heavy as now even when pregnant. Turning 50 was a real eye opener for me. Hopefully you manage to stay off the statins as well 🤞. W1 D3 (I count injection day) and woke up not feeling hungry or as nauseous as yesterday so hopefully back on track.

Artymummy10 · 14/07/2025 07:13

I’m w2 d5 and I’ve noticed appetite suppression has definitely lasted longer this week! This time last week I was feeling quite hungry again (although not getting my usual hunger shakes throughout the day thankfully) but im not feeling as much hunger at all this week.

Yikes! cancels plans

I'd forgotten I was given lactulose after my c-section. That was fairly easy going I think?

Will give physillis a go first. I feel fine, but was planning to weigh myself every day to track the natural fluctuations, but not till I've cleared the decks so to speak!

If it works like that for me that will be ideal, I can cut the amount and then not be starving by 11.30 like usual. That and hopefully being a bit more comfortable not snacking after dinner would make a huge difference already.

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 14/07/2025 07:55

My 3rd (2.5mg) jab is due tomorrow and like others I've noticed that my appetite suppression has not worn off to the same extent as my first week. Yesterday was particularly bad (probably the heat didn't help - I'm Scottish and we are not built for anything over 20 degrees) and all I ate the entire day was a ribeye steak and 3 baby potatoes in garlic butter. I just sort of forget that I need food as I no longer have any hunger cues to remind me.

The scales still have not moved and its weigh day tomorrow. However I have a quick question.

I had ovulation pain yesterday (always had a short first phase which has gotten worse since I turned 40) so was sore and bloated. My first week I lost 6lb and I was on my period. I injected Tuesday night and period arrived Wednesday afternoon.

So my question is: is it possible that tye huge weight loss the first week was because I had gained more in the week leading up to my period and then once it started the weight just dropped off? Meaning that my 6lb loss wasn't a true loss?

I'm clutching at straws here to explain the no loss this week.

Anycrispsleft · 14/07/2025 07:58

Would anyone fancy recommending their breakfast ideas - particularly savoury stuff? I should really be making an effort to get away from the toast now shouldn't I?

I have a couple of spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt with raspberries. I’ve been struggling to finish that!

Wildflowerblooms · 14/07/2025 09:15

Today is the first day of week 3 for me. Will jab again this evening. Supression wasn’t nearly as good over the weekend as it was during the week. I only lost a pound this week. I felt a lot less nauseous during week 2 which might account for losing less weight. I’m down nearly 5 pounds over 2 weeks so I’m happy enough with that.

Carlyh02 · 14/07/2025 09:45

week 1 weigh in and i've lost a kilo - happy with that - food suppression has stayed throughout the week and ive had limited side effects.
Bit panicked though as i was away for the weekend and pen was in my bathroom (north facing) obvs its been warm over the weekend and im worried it will of got above 30 degrees in there - DH says unlikely but I'd be miffed if i've ruined it - is there anyway to tell if its comprimised?

Yes - it’s very unlikely you’ll lose over 1kg (2lbs) of fat a week. So last week you also lost some water weight which is now settling.
