Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

p.s. even though I have just 10-12kgs to lose, I have a BMI over 28, have a family history of diabetes, and and my blood sugar levels have been creeping up because of the weight gain (am in prediabetes stage), that's why I decided to take the plunge..

I am in a similar position, similar amount to
lose - high cholesterol, family history of diabetes, I have PCOS. I’ve tried to lose it but I lack the willpower.

Overtheatlantic · 12/07/2025 21:37

W1 D5 lost 2.1 kgs
SW 92.6 kgs

The food noise stopped but I had a wobble tonight, ordering a takeaway, so decided to only eat one slice of pizza which was all it took to feel full. I’m now sipping iced water and wishing you all a happy weekend.

1023nina · 12/07/2025 22:13

I'm also looking for a place to write and collect all information down in a journal style, I like good old paper, would also love to have a graph share etc, anyone using something the recommended? TIA.

How much water is everyone drinking? I have a 2l bottle that I struggle to finish in a day. Plus cups of tea. So not bad but I think I could be drinking more.

I am managing about 2 big Stanley sized bottles of water a day (just over 2L). On the day I injected I made sure to have 3L to avoid the headache and it worked. But that could also be because it was my first injection?

A bullet journal might be a shout? You could customise it and have trackers and graphs on the front?

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 12/07/2025 22:30

I've had about 6-8 pints of squash today, mainly because it's been so hot but I've also been conscious of ensuring I drink more than normal. Ended up on almost bang on 1000 calories and haven't felt that I've deprived myself of anything. I've eaten when I've been hungry but not otherwise, and I am feeling very full (but not stuffed) now as I go to bed, a good 3 hours after dinner. A very good first day I think!

CookieQueen1986 · 12/07/2025 22:56

How soon is everyone going to order their next pen? And is everyone moving up to 5mg or staying on 2.5mg ??

Im also having 2 x Stanley cups a day. I’ve never wee’d so much in my life 😂

I’ve had my parents staying / eating with us, and I don’t want them to know. It’s been ok. Last night at my brothers house for dinner I avoided the bread / roast potatoes, ate some chicken and veg and said no to dessert, I’ve always struggled to eat less at this sort of meal so I was happy about how easy it was. I’m sure the pudding was nice but I just didn’t fancy eating it.

I skipped breakfast and had chicken and salad for lunch. I wasn’t hungry at dinner but we sat down to eat again so I just had some green salad.

I was full but I managed to eat it… wonder when I will be hungry tomorrow. Might need to eat lunch with them can def skip breakfast again.

Sorry I've been quiet, I don't think the side effects have been so bad this week, however I'm not sure the food noise has been so loud either. I'm fancying 'naughty' things later in the evenings again.........I don't know why. Getting full quick when eating meals tho, going to try protein pancakes this week for breakfast

I’d heard if you’re still getting good suppression to stay as low as you can as it gets more expensive the higher dose you go?
I’m only on week 2 today so going to see how it goes.
How have you been getting on?

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 13/07/2025 08:18

Day 2 today and I'm a bit anxious as I'm working a 12 hour shift with limited control over when I can eat. Normally I fill up with a big breakfast and then hope it will last me until whenever I get lunch (could be anywhere from 12 to 5!), but given how well yesterday went I was hesitant to eat too much for breakfast. I've had two eggs scrambled on one slice of toast and will see how that goes. I think it's so early that I'm nervous to trust how long the feeling of fullness will last.

Hey 👋 how is everyone’s weight loss journeys going? I did jab 3 last night and gosh do I feel nauseous this morning. I lost 3lbs during week 2 which puts me at a 7lb loss in total! I am counting calories every day except for Saturdays and sticking to 1,500-1,700.

SW 13st 2lbs
CW 12st 9lbs
GW 10st 7lbs

neveroutofthekitchen · 13/07/2025 08:52

End of W2, weigh in day for me and another 4lb gone. I'm delighted!
Had a few SE this week mostly lightheadedness and some nausea in the mornings but it always went as the day went on and it didn't stop me working etc so I can live with that.

SW 16st 9lb
CW 16st 0.5lb
GW normal BMI but unsure exact weight

Rallentanda · 13/07/2025 08:58

I’m on W1D4 (early days!) and have lost 1.5lbs, but that’s within the realm of normal for me - I can lose 4/5lbs over a couple of weeks, it’s just that it goes straight back on! Yesterday I noticed my appetite suppression waning. Felt hungry a hour after dinner, and before bed. Looking forward to my next dose and might bring it a day forward if I’m back to thinking about food all the time.

ByLemonFish · 13/07/2025 09:38

End of week 2
Lost 5lbs.

No side effects
Feeling slightly hungry some afternoons so ordered 5mg pen

Feeling great this morning

I brought my jab a day and a half forward (first jab was in the evening, I did jab two in the morning) during the first week. The hunger suppression lasts longer on week 2 luckily!

I had my first jab on Thursday. My poor boyfriend was given the task of injecting me, I’m not a lover of needles so I was fairly dramatic about it. He was very patient and tbh I didn’t really feel it. However, that does not mean I won’t put on the same performance for my second jab.

Anyway, I wish I’d done this sooner. 2,5lb down already, I feel better in myself. I feel I’ve got control over eating. I’ve not been getting hangry. I’m less bothered about what it is we are eating, less fussy. I think someone else had said they see food as fuel now and I feel the same, though I still feel like I enjoy what I’m eating. I also have more energy and that’s never been the case before when I’ve been dieting so I’m surprised with that.

SE wise I had a bad headache on Friday though that could have been a mixture of stuff from work and the heat but apart from that nothing.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/07/2025 10:19

W1 day 6
Weighed myself a day early as I have an extremely early start tomorrow and am then working away for a couple of days so unlikely to have access to scales.
I'm exactly 2k down, which I'm really happy with.

SW 98.5k
CW 96.5k
GW 70k

Early days but I've found this fairly easy, few side effects other than a day of sulphur burps which passed with Rennie's and mint tea, and a bit of constipation sorted by dates. I was at a festival yesterday and although I had no appetite and only ate a small amount I did need to partake of a few beers to help in the heat 😬, so I thought that might have scuppered me for a weigh in today so I'm glad I still have a decent loss.

Is anyone else on Voy? It's expensive but I'm tempted to not change provider as I'm finding the app and support really useful, particularly the chatbot and meal scanning. Just wondering if any other provider has similar?

ophiotaurus · 13/07/2025 11:11

Did my weigh in today. Lost 8.5lbs week one! Second jab today. Stay hydrated in this heat everyone 🚰

I’ve been doing ok, although the weight loss was modest in the first week (2.5 lbs down).
Weirdly today some of the food noise has started creeping in. I’m W2 day 4. If this continues I’ll probably need to up the dose when it comes to re-ordering my pen

That’s an incredible loss!!

Doireallywanttodothis · 13/07/2025 13:15

Just did my first injection - was physically shaking as I did it!

47, BMI of 37, (very) high BP, pre diabetic. At the end of the road for me. Have tried, literally, everything else and it works for a stone or two and then I’m back here again. Just hoping the food noise stops on a not too high dose.

Good luck everyone!
