Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Third jab done, although an hour later than normal as I forgot!

I’m finding myself looking forward to the jab now as my hunger was back with full force yesterday. However, I feel like it’s not a bad thing to retain some of that feeling as I’m still having to use willpower which I can tell myself at the other end of this journey, when I eventually stop taking the jabs.

Weirdly I was down another 0.7kg yesterday on the day before…so a total loss this week of 1.7kg / 3.7 lbs!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 12/07/2025 07:01

Hi all, mind if I join? I did my first jab last night, and I haven't told anyone (even my husband) that I'm doing this so it would be good to have people to talk to. Not sure why I want to keep it a secret, but I think it's similar to the shame I have had in the past when going back to SW or similar - it's like I hate to admit that my weight is an issue I can't solve on my own.

Anyway, first jab done (I waited until after dinner as I wanted my final 'fish and chips Friday's blowout!!). So far I'm burping a bit more than normal (and they still taste of the eggs I had with my chips 🤢) but otherwise feeling ok. A bit hungry for breakfast but maybe not as much as normal, I'm not sure. I'm a bit worried I'm going to be quite obsessive about looking for symptoms and thinking about whether or not I am hungry, but hopefully that will settle down once I've been on it a while.

I've taken my starting weight today, not totally sure it is accurate as I have been moving the scales around (and apparently put on 3kg since Wednesday when I took a weight to put on the website!) but I've found a place they can live now so hopefully they will be more consistent. Starting weight is 139.7kg so this will be a long journey but I've lost it before so know it is possible, just hoping this will give me a little extra motivation and assistance.

bebopalula111 · 12/07/2025 08:24

2nd jab done this morning, 5.5lbs down.
delighted.
not many side effects this week, apart from nausea once and a fuzzy head.

Hope everyone else is going well.

Bunnie22 · 12/07/2025 08:41

I'm W1, D5 and feeling ok apart from the constipation. Can I ask those of you who've been on m for a while, does the constipation go away as your body adjusts, or is it always a problem the whole time you're on this?

Thischarmlessgirl · 12/07/2025 08:47

morning, so after feeling disheartened yesterday, and still no period (sigh) I weighed again this morning and I’ve lost another half a pound, so 2lbs in total in two weeks which isn’t great but at least it’s something!
jab due again tomorrow. @Bunnie22 ive been ok with constipation but have been drinking loads of water and eating some dried fruit which I think helps.

daisydreamies · 12/07/2025 08:52

I felt so nauseous yesterday and the thought of eating made me feel worse, so all I managed to eat was a chicken nugget and a few chips at lunchtime. I’m still not hungry.

I didn’t expect getting side effects on day 1 of week 3 when I had 0 side effects the week before, so that took me by surprise

Week 1 done and down 3kg
SW: 123kg
CW: 120.1kg

its the easiest 6lb I’ve ever lost! I will jab mid afternoon today. I take a medication morning and night that I need to absorb so try to jab as far away from that as possible. Looking forward to it. My appetite definitely came back the last couple of days. Friends were having a Thai takeaway last night and I joined in although I would say I ate maybe 25% less than usual but still a lot!

ready for the next set of losses now!

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 12/07/2025 09:29

I'm having a wobble. This is my second week and I had a massive 6lb weight loss in week 1. The scales moved down each day (I was curious) and I was on my period.

However this second week the number on the scale has remained the same since Tuesday.

I have also noticed that I'm not thirsty at all and having to force water down but it's still nowhere near enough. I had my DH pick up the Phizz effervescent tablets yesterday whilst he was at Tesco. They are the dual with vitamins and electrolysis so hoping I avoid any dehydration.

We always have a takeaway on Fridays. Last night was Chinese. I managed half my chicken foo yung (figured it was probably) and 3 table spoons of egg fried rice. So although I'm definitely eating far less the scales are being stubborn so far - official weigh day on Tuesday but not hopeful.

In other news I need new jeans. The 6lb loss has caused them to fall off. My lovely 12 year old son told me I needed new one because "no offence but you kind of look like MC Hammer"

Offence was definitely taken.

The weight seems to have come off my tummy (which thanks to a tummy tuck years ago wasn't my biggest area) because I can no longer see it over the very large mounds of my G cup boobs 🤣

I've started taking a daily psyllium husk tablet which seems to have done the trick. The bottle says 2 a day but I'm only on 1 as didn't want any explosions!

I didn’t lose during week 2, despite still eating in a calorie deficit. I’m on week 3 day 2 and I had a little cheeky weigh this morning and I’ve started losing again

Slightly disappointed with a 1lb weight loss this week, but in the three weeks I have been trying to lose weight (1 week without MJ, 2 weeks with) I have lost 9lbs and my BMI has gone down from 33 to 31. So I am still going in the right direction.

I have also gone down from a 40G to a 38G bra, and I swear my waist is slightly more in evidence!

So, onwards and upwards, concentrating on slow wins for sustained improvement!

stormageddmum · 12/07/2025 12:08

Hello, can I join in too please? I'm two days into week 1 Jabbed Thurs night. Semi-secret stabber as husband knows but nobody else, and he's not keen on me taking it (worried about long term side effects, but I don't know how much he's read up on it - tbh I try to avoid bringing it up). Anyway, desperate to tell someone so chatting here with you lovely helpful lot will really help!

Suppression is 'moderate to good' I'd say. Wasn't sure it had kicked in on the first morning (lay in bed trying to gauge how I felt towards yorkshire pudding, chips, magnums!) but felt so full after half a coffee and a yoghurt. I'm still enjoying food and so far able to avoid stuffing snacks in gob. But dunno if that's just the zeal / willpower of a new diet (had glass of wine last night though, which very, very sadly, tasted rank. RIP wine).

Veggie who doesn't like eggs or fake meat very much so concerned about getting enough protein in. The shakes info was useful!

Got beany chickpea salads planned for the weekend, protein yohgurts, protein granola to sprinkle, and more meditteranean-ish salads while it's hot! And buckets of water. Logging on shotsy (free version) and Nutracheck for now but want to set good habits and eat more intutively as I do worry about maintainance later down the line

SW - 15st 6lb (about 98kg?)
GW - dunno, in the nines is the dream

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 12/07/2025 12:44

Another new starter here, jabbed for the first time this morning. Hoping to loose 2 stone on this, ideally should loose 3-4 but I know I’d be happy with 2 and to stay there 🙂

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 12/07/2025 12:45

Thanks for the reminder about chickpeas! I'm also veggie (although I do like eggs and fake meat) and have some salads planned for lunches at work but had forgotten to think about chickpeas in them! I like to batch cook some butternut squash and aubergine to have cold in the salads and can chuck some chickpeas in too when I roast them today!

Moosefish81 · 12/07/2025 12:53

Hi everyone, I’ve just ordered so hoping to start next week at some stage. My weight has crept up during Covid and then , after rupturing my Achilles tendon three years ago, I’ve found myself gaining 2 stone. I had surgery 10 weeks ago for severe endometriosis and adenomyosis and now I’m recovered from surgery and finally not in constant pain, feel ready to do something about my weight. As part of the surgery I had both ovaries removed so am now in medical menopause at 43. I’m hoping the medication will help get me going with the weight loss but expecting it to be a challenging few months. Hoping this board will be a great place to get some support and learn from others going through a similar challenge. Really hoping to lose at least the 2 stones I’ve gained.

ophiotaurus · 12/07/2025 14:00

I’m on day 6 of week one. 2.5mg Mounjaro. I’m looking forward to weighing tomorrow. Today is the first day I’ve felt hungry. I was also a bit dizzy on my walk but it could be because of the heatwave. I’ve made sure to have more water today.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 12/07/2025 15:05

Day one going well so far - had some cereal for breakfast around 7am (60g so double the recommended portion but probably about half what I'd normally have) and I haven't really started feeling hungry yet! I'm maybe mildly peckish but I haven't eaten anything yet, partly because I want to see how long it takes before I get properly hungry and partly because I want to be able to eat a normal dinner and I'm worried if I eat now I won't be hungry again in time.

Yes to roasted chickpeas! I rummage them with pesto or harrissa or something first for 'interest'. I'd say good for snacking too but I dunno about you but I'm not feeling the need for snacking.

I also went v low food intake for most of day 1 (maybe 400 cal before dinner) and am sure it's what gave me an awful headache for most of the day. Remember feeling the same on Fast 800. Ate more sensibly today - no headache.

Rallentanda · 12/07/2025 16:28

How much water is everyone drinking? I have a 2l bottle that I struggle to finish in a day. Plus cups of tea. So not bad but I think I could be drinking more.

YourSpleenIsDamp · 12/07/2025 16:39

Week 2 day 2 and I'm floored - really tired and shaky, drinking gallons of water but don't really want to eat anything. Managed some yogurt earlier. I'm not great in hot weather so I guess it might be that rather than the meds. Period is due too. Ugh.

Kittkats · 12/07/2025 17:15

Just did my first injection 3 hours ago. Hoping to lose between 2 stone 5lb and 3 stone.
I’m feeling strangely calm and my brain is quieter than normal: not just food noise, everything! Is that my imagination or is that a thing? Is it too soon to be the Mounjaro?

No, mine is a bit like that! It’s usually crazy town in there, now a quiet, leafy hamlet…

Hi everyone, I just got my first pen today, and after some complex calculations around holidays, have decided to start on Monday. I am 51, and the weight has crept up over the last two years, and even though I've increased my exercise routine (spin, weights, yoga and pilates, walking over 10k steps - 6 days a week), I just haven't been able to shift it. I have about 10-12kgs to lose. I've sheepishly and very secretly (have only chatted with one friend in the US, who was on it and is evangelical about it), decided to start on Mounjaro. I'm nervous and excited, and reading about your experiences with it is reassuring. Have been scouring the board for top tips. Thanks for sharing.
