Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Hi everyone. Some really encouraging updates on here, well done to those who are smashing it.
Did jab 1 on Sunday. So on day 6 and the appetite suppression is definitely wearing off. Haven't weighed myself yet but not feeling like I will see much of a difference from this first week but we'll see. No real side effects.
Are people finding the effects ramp up as you progress through?

Yes the effects ramp up. Although MJ has half life of 5 days, it stays in the system for 30 days so each jab does build on the last one.
This is W2 D6 for me and according to the charts, my suppression today is the same as W1 D2 https://glp1plotter.com/

EvelynSalt · 11/07/2025 10:25

@Thischarmlessgirltotally get the scales aversion, I used to measure my waist when I couldn’t face tracking weight.

@Vamoosh80personally I found that my second week on 2.5mg, appetite suppression has increased a bit and I’d say lasted a day longer than week 1. Not sure if it’s psychological or the medication is building up a bit

YourSpleenIsDamp · 11/07/2025 10:50

Week 1 complete, and I'm down 2.2kg. My period is due, and I haven't managed to poo much, so maybe it's more than that 🤣

I’m feeling so disheartened. Nearly at the end of week two, only lost a pound last week, waited this morning and lost half a pound.
I still haven’t had my period which is now two weeks late, definitely not pregnant, my cycle is usually regular, I posted on the main board and a couple of people said that starting the injections did delay their period so I’m hoping it’s that. I do feel premenstrual and heavy which I’m hoping the reason why the weight isn’t coming off. I have been so disciplined with food and the suppression has been good. I haven’t eaten more than 1100 cal a day for the last week and drank 3 L of water, 70 g of protein etc.
I know a loss is a loss, but this is ridiculous!

I’m so sorry that you feel disheartened. I suspect your delayed period is why you are not getting the drop in weight you were expecting. I’d imagine as soon as your period comes, you’ll start dropping.
If you know you are eating less and eating healthier than you were before, then you must have lost some weight.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 11/07/2025 12:15

Hi everyone, W1 d5 for me. Feeling suppression-no hankering for breakfast, had lunch today at 11.30am as I’m feeling so full the last two days I’ve not had dinner (had a small natural yogurt at 8pm last night as I knew I needed to have something, that left me feeling very full 😮)

I’ve had an ‘open’ protein bagel, a slice of pre-sliced cheese shared over both halves, half a pack of quorn spinach and red pepper slices. Then a pack of quavers (I cannot give up my crisps 😂) and a banana. I’ve had this my last two lunches and did not want any dinner-that isn’t sensible or sustainable so I’m hoping by eating earlier it’ll give more digestion time.

i was 12st 1lb last week (period week) and weighed myself today and I’m 11st 8lb. Aware a lot of this will be water weight and period was last week, but I’m amazed to finally see the scales go down.
the freedom from not constantly thinking about snacking is amazing (I was having 2/3 packs of crisps a day, or would grab cheese from the fridge). It has felt so, so good just to get on with my day without constantly thinking of food.
if I could stay like this forever it would be amazing!

great to read everyone’s stories, hope everyone is having a good Friday xx

I also found that suppression lasted longer on week 2. W1D4 I was ravenous, whereas W2D6 I was getting hungry but getting full quickly.

Jab 3 is done! I may have done it at 2 in the morning, I was expecting a delivery this morning and couldn’t get my anxiety about being mid-jab when the door goes to go away, so I just jabbed a few hours early to get it out of the way. I also didn’t want the added anxiety of waiting for the delivery to be done so I can jab.

10 hours later, no side effects other than I am not hungry at all. I ordered mcdonalds as a treat for my son (and partly I’m too lazy to keep getting up to get him food, it’s so hot and he’s been suuuper hungry over the past few days), I only managed a few chips before I felt too full to eat anymore. I used to be able to eat 20 nuggets, chips and a cheeseburger and feel full (but this would be my only meal for the day, still awful though).

My period has finally f*cked off so hopefully I’ll have lost some weight by the time I weigh myself on Monday. My 5mg pen has arrived, so only one more dose of 2.5mg in case it’s not enough to shift the weight, so I won’t feel too disheartened if I’ve still maintained my current weight come Monday

Silly question maybe but I’m not medically trained! Do you just prime your pen on the first dose, or repeat the process on every dose?

Sparklysunshine · 11/07/2025 13:13

week 2 day 6 . The first week I lost 4kg but this week I’ve only lost 1kg - can’t help but feel a bit disheartened at that even though a loss is a loss ! Think I’ll defo go up to the 5 pen next time . Everyone keeps talking about feeling full on the smallest meal but this hasn’t happened to me . I stop myself eating more because I know I’ve had enough not because I couldn’t possibly eat more . Hopefully I get the full feeling once I go up a level .

Week one complete. Jan two due later today. I’ve lost 6lb. I’ve lost the bloat and my hands are much less swollen so fluid is obviously a lot of it. Not expecting to loose so much next week but so delighted with this.
The complete lack of food noise is a revelation. Is this how thin people live all the time?

trying to instil better eating habits for the whole family(although I’m the only fat one).

I noticed my rings loosened within days. And the lack of food noise is just joyous isn't it.

Thats a hell of a lot to lose. I havent lost that much total in 3 weeks and only eating 1000 calories a day and a lot of days under that .
Would be estatic if i had lost that much

MeridaBrave · 11/07/2025 14:39

I lost 2kg in week 1, although 1kg is probably just water weight etc from eating less. I just love the ease of this. It doesn’t require any willpower. I don’t have so much to lose (10kg) so wondering how long it will take. Also to consider maintainance as I have lost same weight so many times!!

Sparklysunshine · 11/07/2025 14:40

Weird question - where does the fat go that we loose ? Do we wee it out or does it just break down and somehow leave the body ? I was thinking about this at 3am when I couldn’t sleep last night 😂

I think 1kg a week is a normal sustainable loss. Would be worrying to lose any more than that tbh - eg more likely to be losing muscle.

Haha. So the body uses it for fuel (as eating less).

It mostly gets breathed out as CO2.
Some also leaves as urine / sweat.

I always thought we wee'd it out! But apparently we breathe it out! Sounds so easy, just breathing 🤣

Much more modest loss this week and will inject later. Still getting good suppression. I think that struggling to eat my calories and not drinking enough water are slowing me down a bit. Still on the downward trajectory though and feeling better in myself.

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss · 11/07/2025 18:56

I may have missed this as I’m struggling to keep up with the chat with a busy 3 year old and 3 month old 🙈 anyone recommend any good proportion shakes? I’m finding I’m not eating enough and need something quick so thought they may help. It’s 7pm and all I’ve had all day is half a banana and a slice of pineapple and I feel horrid. Just not had time or chance to sort anything for me

Em85kk · 11/07/2025 19:28

Jab 3 to be done this evening, definitely felt hungrier today! Weighed this morning, same as yesterday morning.

SW 91.3kg
CW 88.4kg

I recommend buying whey protein isolate and making your own shakes with banana / berries / honey etc to sweeten. I use a company called myprotein.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 11/07/2025 19:48

I don't know if it will help anyone struggling to eat much but there's a lady of Facebook called Hungry, Happy, Healthy who shares a lot of what she calls 'picky plates' which are protein and fibre rich. Could easily be adapted to suit different hunger levels. I started following her a few months ago so before I'd decided on MJ, and gave had lots of light meal ideas from her.

RockChik · 11/07/2025 20:41

I started taking on Tuesday morning, 1.25mg, then a second dose on Wednesday morning. I've experienced a lot of suppression since. Until this afternoon. Been feeling quite peckish all afternoon but haven't eaten a great deal. Then tonight the suppression has kicked in again and I'm struggling to eat supper. Anyone else experience this??!

Bunnie22 · 11/07/2025 21:42

Does anyone have a link to the website where you can compare the jab prices and offers from different suppliers please?
