Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Also is anyone going to try getting the 5th dose out of the pen? It seems so easy to do with an insulin syringe from a YouTube video I’ve seen but a little worried about air bubbles or infection if I’m not doing it properly 😬 I guess any kind of messing with medication would be a worry

I’m planning to. Have to try and avoid air bubbles. I bought the syringes.

Where did you order them from? Did you have to look for a certain sized needle? I think I’d need more wipes too, I only got 4 with my order

Had my first weigh in this morning - I’ve lost 8.6 lbs. I can’t believe it. Even when doing Cambridge diet and 800 cals a day I never lost that much. It’s unbelievable. Just hope I constantly lose even if it’s just a little bit from now on. My starting weight has also been a lot higher than others in this group.

SW 205.8 lbs
CW 197.2 lbs

I’ve used just pounds this time to track after so many years of dieting and obsessing over getting into the next stone bracket or even half stone. Hoping this will help a bit

Wow that’s amazing, well done! Flowers

AbitSceptical · 10/07/2025 17:20

Haven't stopped by for a while so I'm checking in.

Week 2, Day 2
SW 89.1 kg
CW 87.3 kg
TW 72 kg

Great to read everyone's progress.

Generally I've been fine but feel so shattered today. Perhaps it's partly the heat in the UK and my wider family have been trying to bully me about an elderly relative. But I haven't turned to food for comfort like I would've done, so that's a win.

There are videos which show you how to get the last dose out of the pen without having to buy separate syringes. I'm going to try that.

i think you need 0.6ml for one dose. I looked for very small needles!!

SheMed sent me 100 wipes and 100 pen needles.

Yes I’ve seen those. The last couple I’ve seen though say the pens have changed and it’s a lot harder to force it past the stopper and get the last dose out

Does anyone have any recommendations for a multi vitamin? Preferably one of the dissolve in water ones.

I'm struggling to get enough nutrients in. It's always worse from Thursday about Sunday (I inject late Tuesday evenings). All I've managed today is 4 strawberries and 3 blueberries, half a bowl of porridge, a small tin of veg soup with 6 croutons and a bread roll with 2 slices of sliced chicken breast.

I feel so full up that it's uncomfortable

Rallentanda · 10/07/2025 19:29

Day 2, appetite definitely suppressed. It’s fascinating. Dh cooking dinner and if he wasn’t here I’d not bother. No nausea, bit of constipation.

But, a sort of empty-headed spaced-out feeling. I’m a late-diagnosed ADHDer and I’ve read this can happen. It’s not hugely pleasant tbh. I’d happily not. Talk, not think, just sit…..

I really like Berocca but the price of them these days 🙈

That’s interesting, I’ve been having times of spaced out kind of brain fog and feeling just a bit weird. It goes away when I’m really busy at work

I'm.goingbto give it a go and report back. Only on week one though dat the mo.
If you read through some of the earlier threads on here, i.e groups from previous months (mounjaro April, mounjaro may), they're all doing it.

WhereIsSpot · 10/07/2025 22:49

Well done on the weight losses. I have a feeling this week won't be great for me. Roasting hot here yesterday and ended up going for quite a few beers after playing tennis. Not eating a huge amount today as I'm a bit rough and not that hungry.

123welcome · 09/07/2025 19:29

I am on 2.5mg and week 2 but so far no suppression or weight loss. Also am constipated and windy. Is anyone else feeling the same?

MJ: Wk1; D6. (2.5 mg) No satiety, no SE, no constipation, no burps etc and no weight loss. Not sure about food noise. Now wondering if I injected it correctly.

Previously did Wegovy for 9 months (had horrendous side effects) but pushed on and lost 1 1/2 stone but it was so slowly, then had 6 weeks of not losing at all, so I took a break (went on hols) and started MJ thinking it would be faster. I was expecting I would have an immediate response to it, especially as I had immediate reaction to Wegovy. But nothing. Tomorrow will be injection day and I will get my daughter (Dr) to check I'm doing it correctly.
I'm now wondering if I should go back to the drip drip drip of Wegovy (with all the horrendous SE) or stick it out for a couple of months on MJ?
Any advice most welcomed please ...

On Wegovy here's what I noticed
Constipation - I take psyllium husk pills and 3-4 dried apricots every morning. Varied the number of psyllium tabs according to needs.
Had symptoms like acid reflux/might have been sulphur burps. Tried all sorts of things including raising head of bed and sliding down the bed all night. In the end ate most of food early in day, finished eating 7 at the latest.
Had occasional spells of feeling really spaced out, and a couple of random dizzy spells. I always knew in my head/body that I was taking something and
it felt like it was messing with my head as well as my digestion etc.

crowsfeet57 · 10/07/2025 23:59

Injected for the first time yesterday. Felt very nauseous until late afternoon today. could only manage milk shake for breakfast and a few grapes and a peach for lunch.

Averagely · 11/07/2025 05:08

First week done for me and I have lost 4lbs and am happy with that. The appetite has returned in the past 2 days but I’ve managed to stick to the food I planned in a deficit.

I will inject the next dose tonight after work.

Thischarmlessgirl · 11/07/2025 06:45

I’m feeling so disheartened. Nearly at the end of week two, only lost a pound last week, waited this morning and lost half a pound.
I still haven’t had my period which is now two weeks late, definitely not pregnant, my cycle is usually regular, I posted on the main board and a couple of people said that starting the injections did delay their period so I’m hoping it’s that. I do feel premenstrual and heavy which I’m hoping the reason why the weight isn’t coming off. I have been so disciplined with food and the suppression has been good. I haven’t eaten more than 1100 cal a day for the last week and drank 3 L of water, 70 g of protein etc.
I know a loss is a loss, but this is ridiculous!

CarelessWhisper1966 · 11/07/2025 07:29

W3D1
W1 -4kg
W2 -1.2kg
SW 99.4kg
CW 94.2
First Goal 90kg

WOW! Feeling totally in control of food for the first time in my long adult life. Managed 3 swims this week (desperate to avoid having too much saggy skin). The warmer weather helps as having lots of salads and grilled meats.

No alcohol so far, bit scared to try if I'm honest, but my liver is probably enjoying the rest.

First social event this weekend- a BBQ. Don't want to lie, but not ready to reveal the truth, so going to eat nothing all day and be the driver.

Only my husband currently knows I'm doing this. Will be a while till anyone notices I think. Then I won't lie, I'll be proud I've taken control and not give a stuff if anyone disapproves. Imagine telling everyone and then having horrendous SE and having to stop. I'd feel a complete failure.

Started the jabs because I was the heaviest I'd ever been. Suddenly size 16 trousers were not fitting, not even badly and my overspill being hidden by baggy tops wasn't hidden at all. None of my dresses were waisted. There were no nice photos. Then a routine GP appointment for a meds review (underactive thyroid and hiatus hernia) highlighted that my BP was raised. I asked the GP about the jabs and he said only certain patients can be prescribed it on NHS. I realised that if I wanted to change then I had to fund this myself.

I saw a couple of friends drop a few stones in a few months. Took the plunge and ordered through Lloyds Online. It was easy (except the video with the scales and ID lols) and when my jabs were on their way I told my Husband.

Now Thursday morning is weigh in and Thursday evening is jabs time. I go straight to bed as feel a bit odd and headachy. But I wake Friday morning excited for the week ahead and have an inner calmness that I haven't felt in a long time. I'm enjoying the journey. My first goal is 90kg - 3.8kgs away. Would love to get there before my first 5mg jabs but if I don't I won't beat myself up.

If you're reading this and wondering should I or shouldn't I start taking the jabs, I'd say go for it. On here you'll see that everyone is on their own journey, having their own experiences. I wish I'd started back in May when I saw a friend who'd lost 5 stone since January, but my brain clearly wasn't ready.

Thank you everyone in the group for sharing. I have found everything posted very interesting.

ConfusedMumDotCom · 11/07/2025 08:05

Morning all. Jab 4 just done. Anyone else notice a slight uptick in weight on jab day? I’m not surprised as my appetite starts to creep back the day before.

Rallentanda · 11/07/2025 08:25

Lost the kilo (= litre of water) from yesterday so back to my starting weight! Only 2 days in and definitely, definitely eating in deficit. How easy it is, it's a total game changer. Looking forward to melting off some of this flab, especially in this weather!

You have my sympathy, periods can play such havoc with weight. How often are you weighing? It may be worth looking each day as if it’s hormonal fluctuation, you might see that on a daily basis. Pre-period I jumped up by 1.5lbs!

notsochattysue · 11/07/2025 08:33

Week one complete. Jan two due later today. I’ve lost 6lb. I’ve lost the bloat and my hands are much less swollen so fluid is obviously a lot of it. Not expecting to loose so much next week but so delighted with this.
The complete lack of food noise is a revelation. Is this how thin people live all the time?

trying to instil better eating habits for the whole family(although I’m the only fat one).

sel2223 · 11/07/2025 09:51

Hi Everyone, I'm on day 2 and this thread is so helpful!

I haven't noticed any suppression yet so using pure willpower to eat clean and keep calories down at the moment. Also finding myself obsessing over food!

Side effects wise nothing too bad, I had read lots of advice to inject at night which I did. I've had a slight headache since yesterday so trying to drink plenty of water.

Thischarmlessgirl · 11/07/2025 09:51

@EvelynSalt I usually wear weekly, I have a bit of a fear of the scales generally, probably after years of yo-yo dieting and finding the numbers on the scales really influence my mood, years ago I did daily weighing and worked out the average, so maybe I need to do some exposure therapy and go back to that. I could really do with my period coming and going!

Vamoosh80 · 11/07/2025 10:12

Hi everyone. Some really encouraging updates on here, well done to those who are smashing it.
Did jab 1 on Sunday. So on day 6 and the appetite suppression is definitely wearing off. Haven't weighed myself yet but not feeling like I will see much of a difference from this first week but we'll see. No real side effects.
Are people finding the effects ramp up as you progress through?
