Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Can't remember who was asking, but I've been having a smoothie for lunch as it's easier to get calories in when I'm not that hungry.

I was looking at slim/protein shakes, but I don't like the taste of artificial sweetener, so I've been making my own with greek yogurt, milk, raspberries and a banana. Works out at about 400 calories.

Hi everyone, I started on 2.5mg mounjaro Monday of this week. I weigh 12st 1lb and had to slightly tweak the figures I gave to get the pen. Owning up to that now rather than hide anything-only a slight tweak but needed for me-my weight has crept up and up and I’m at a point where I know I need some extra help to reset my eating amounts and eating habits.
I did 5 rounds of ivf and during scans was told my ovaries were polycystic in appearance (makes sense with other issues I have) however not formally diagnosed and therefore couldn’t provide a doctor letter to let me have mounjaro with the under 30 bmi.

My bmi without the tweak was 28.2

Today (48 hours after the jab) I’ve definitely felt some suppression-no interest in breakfast. Had my lunch and then some chestnuts (the ones in sealed pouches) and that has tipped me over the edge-felt extremely full for 4 hours now and can’t stomach having dinner. I’ll know tomorrow to not have anything after lunch. Definitely will be a learning curve!

I’d like to lose 1.5-2 stones, sensibly and would be happy with 1lb off a week but just less food noise/thinking about food, and to be quite honest give me a reset on being a glutton at the weekend.
Apart from a very full up feeling today I’ve felt alright so far.

I’ve gone with medexpress. Does anyone know how the process works? Now they’ve accepted me, will I be able to keep on getting mounjaro until I reach a bmi of under 25?

Thanks in advance, enjoying reading about everyone’s journey!

My understanding is that you can continue to around BMI 22-23 depending on the company. My starting BMI was 27 but I have high cholesterol (whole family has) and PCOS so qualified.

Can buy whey protein isolate to add to the smoothie, the amount of protein in yogurt (I know Greek yoghurt is better than others) isnt much unless having a very big portion. Ideally need 25-30g protein per meal.

Day 3 and I’m struggling with sulphur burps and diarrhoea 😞

EnglishGirlApproximately · 09/07/2025 23:09

Thanks @Elvishit was me asking. I found a cheap hand blender in the middle of Lidl today so I'm on it tomorrow! Hoping to find a recipe copy of the baked green smoothie online 😃

Thank you so much! I was worried they’d stop me early if I dipped under 30 bmi. I hated having to ‘cheat’ my way to get it but realistically I wasn’t far off the 30 bmi requirement anyway.

ive been debating for a little while but stepping on the scales just to apply for it gave me a kick up the bum anyway, so I feel like I’m starting in a good mindset. I’m fed up of feeling overweight and self conscious.
ive enjoyed today not being focussed on food/the next meal/what I’ll have at weekend-it’s given me more headspace today.

looking forward to being on this journey with you all 😊

Today is my first weigh in day and I’ve dropped 2.5 pounds. To be honest, I’m a little disappointed with that because I’ve been eating significantly less than what I was eating previously so I know the mounjaro is working. I was hoping for a bigger drop but hey ho, a loss is still a loss.

SW: 13 stone 5.5 pounds
CW: 13 stone 3 pounds

That sounds good, I'd love some recipes if anyone wants to share! 😀

Thanks for that. I'm a bit lost with all the protein options and meal replacements. My Facebook is now all adverts for various miracle products!

SassiestPants · 10/07/2025 08:19

Hello, may I join you? I'm having my first pen delivered today and will take it as soon as it arrives.

I just can't seem to shift the weight I've put on over the past few years. I lost it all and was in good shape after my youngest (6 next week) was born and was very active up until 2022 but I just seemed to go backwards, I think coinciding with going on HRT and experiencing peri symptoms and despite trying everything that worked previously, I have continued to gain.

I was working with a coach last year and was eating in a calorie deficit for a good few months with no significant loses so I am a bit concerned that my body will just not let go of the extra weight...mounjaro or not. Has anyone any experience of similar?

F42 SW 82.7kg (13st 2) 164cm(5.5ft)

Happy to be starting this journey 🙏

AlviesMam · 10/07/2025 08:19

First pen tonight. I’m so scared but excited xx

Rallentanda · 10/07/2025 08:31

I'm not even 24 hours in, have been very worried about the many different ways our bodies react to Mounjaro, so drank 2l of water yesterday and didn't eat too much. I'm not sure if I feel actual suppression or I'm just being very careful.

Anyway I noticed I didn't pee a lot and sure enough at least a litre of that water is hanging around, because I'm a kilo heavier this morning 😂

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/07/2025 09:20

@Elvishmy smoothie this morning was whatever I had in, so a banana, big dollop of skyr natural 0%, almond butter, oats, chia seeds and spinach with a splash of milk. Really tasty and filled me upb- was a bit thick so I'll add a bit more milk next time. Tomorrow I'm going to try a berry one.

EvelynSalt · 10/07/2025 10:02

2.5lbs down here as well today (w2 d5). I’d normally weigh myself on Friday but I’m starting my period and thought that might skew things a bit.

I feel largely good about it, although I would love to be seeing bigger numbers, I’m happy to just be losing consistently.

If you don’t like artificial taste I’d just buy plain unflavoured whey protein isolate (I get from myprotein), and add to smoothie. Start with 10g and see how you manage the taste. Will def work out cheaper than other options.

I’ve been on my period all week so far (no idea why it’s lasting so long, I’m on day 6!!) and it has made me stop losing weight. I’ve maintained and not gained so that’s something at least

W2D7(Jab day tomorrow morning!). I’ve had no side effects other than being really fatigued, but can’t 100% say it’s down to the jabs and not my chronic illness freaking out about the constant temperature change (went from 30s to low 20s and now back to 30s).

The hunger suppression has lasted well this week compared to last. I took my jab a day and a half early because I was just so hungry end of last week (I was going to take it a day late to shuffle my jab day around). I’ve been managing small meals, concentrating on fibre and protein.

Although I haven’t pooped this week (could that and my period be why my weight loss has stalled?). I wasn’t a frequent pooer before, twice a week normally but that’s always been my norm so never been to the drs about it. I do have some fybogel arriving today so that should hopefully move things along. I thought having porridge or weetabix every day would be enough, apparently not haha.

I’ll weigh on Monday as usual. My SW was 83kg and I’m currently at 79kg, but that loss was all in the first few days of w1 (I am happy that I have lost something, and maintained since).

Re: poos, try and eat more soluble fibre and cruciferous veg. I also noticed that the effects wore off by day 6/7 but for me it’s the weekend when it goes so wrong so I managed to use willpower esp as I was motivated by the scales (dropped a couple of kg in first 5 days and I wanted to maintain it).

I sometimes use glycerin suppository if I don’t poo for a couple of days, also prone to constipation. I have used them this week but that’s fine.

Righto- coming to the end of week 1, had the sulphur burps yesterday (grim) and feeling quite tired- I’m at a party this weekend and whilst I don’t want to get drunk I would like to partake in a little alcohol- has anyone found any issues with drinking (other than presumably stalled weight loss)

I’ve had a few glasses of wine (3 or 4) and I’ve been fine in terms of side effects

Taking probiotics helps with poo too!

@Carlyh02 I’m a big drinker and was hoping I would go off alcohol. Sadly not, even though I’ve lost my appetite for food. I’ve drank every night since my first jab on Tuesday and haven’t had any adverse reactions.

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss · 10/07/2025 15:30

Had my first weigh in this morning - I’ve lost 8.6 lbs. I can’t believe it. Even when doing Cambridge diet and 800 cals a day I never lost that much. It’s unbelievable. Just hope I constantly lose even if it’s just a little bit from now on. My starting weight has also been a lot higher than others in this group.

SW 205.8 lbs
CW 197.2 lbs

I’ve used just pounds this time to track after so many years of dieting and obsessing over getting into the next stone bracket or even half stone. Hoping this will help a bit

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss · 10/07/2025 15:32

Also is anyone going to try getting the 5th dose out of the pen? It seems so easy to do with an insulin syringe from a YouTube video I’ve seen but a little worried about air bubbles or infection if I’m not doing it properly 😬 I guess any kind of messing with medication would be a worry
